[Q] turn off HTC Message auto-convert to MMS - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi to all!
I know this problem has already been discussed in other forums, but I can't make it work! I know, I'm a complete newby in this matter! I've found a solution in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065452
but I can't go after n° 6!
And I've tried other sms apps from the market, but I don't like them, and sometimes they also don't send some messages.
I'm running JB Viper XL 3.2.8 with stock kernel, and I wanted to ask if someone could make a mod to the stock message app that turns off this auto conversion to mms after a certain lenght, or if some Venom developer could add it as a tweak, perhaps also in the new sense 5 rom
Thanks to everyone for this forum!

Try the Sense 5 Toolbox which is an Xposed module, it has that option. Find it here. Please note you must first install the Xposed Framework for this to work.
Sent from my Evita

Wow I had never heard of.. frameworks!
hehehe
Thanks!
I looked at the page of the toolbox, and it does a few other things aside from the sms-mms conversion, and I'm just concerned that they could.. let's say "interfere" with the Venom Tweaks, since I'm running a Venom rom. If I install this module, will I be able to enable just the sms-mms part, or will they all be enabled?

You can enable just the sms part.
Sent from my Evita

Thanks timmaaa, I'll try it!

Mmm just another thing: since I cannot flash a new rom in this period, and now I'm on sense 4+, do you know if there's a sense 4+ module that does the same?

Why can't you flash another ROM?
Sent from my Evita

Too busy at work! Haven't much time

Ahh ok. I'm not sure about other xposed modules, but if you Google search there is a compilation thread that shows up.
Sent from my Evita

Nothing..
There's just one, but it's for Samsung.
I'll have to wait until I can flash a new sense 5 rom
It would be a nice adding to the Venom Tweaks, though

[Q] Rooted phone, now what?

Hi folks!
Very new noob here and very curious about what else I can do now that I've rooted my Inspire 4g. I used attn1 hack kit and it took me roughly 30 minutes to complete the root process.
So, first question is - I've noticed, and already read about it, that my wifi is no longer working and that I need to do something.....yes I'm a noob and I'm not sure what exactly I need to do to get my wifi feature working again.
Second - What else can I do now with a rooted phone other than the tethering/wifi hotspot features? Any cool apps? Any updated core (not sure of term) program that will replace the default image loaded with attn1 hack kit?
I'm honestly completely content with what attn1 hack kit did minus the wifi.
So basically looking to fix my wifi issue, i can connect to networks but can't use them, and also looking to tweak/speed up phone even more and load some cool apps.
I apologize for being a noob.
if you want, you can try the rom in my signature....
in all honesty, try every rom out there for your phone. see which one works for you
You have a lot you can do still, read around these forums, use the search, and read the stickies, they'll help you out a lot. The first thing I'd recommend looking into is flashing a new ROM (the "core program"), which should take care of your wifi problem.
Just remember, most questions you'll have have been answered at some point, always search a few different ways before posting multiple threads asking questions.
But good luck! Welcome to being rooted, once you learn what you can do you'll realize why everyone recommends it. As for root apps, ROM Manager is must have IMO, makes flashing a lot easier, Titanium Backup is good, Root Tools is pretty useful (although on some custom ROMs like CM7 there are easier ways to do most of the stuff it can do), and SetCPU if you want to overclock your CPU.
My favorite thing about being rooted, other than flashing roms, is setcpu. With a Rom that supports it, you can overclock and underclock. I underclock when the screen is off and it helps battery life immensely. Just be careful with overclocking. Some phones do better with it. I never overclock past 1.2 ghz.

Did you flash the stock ROM (w/ or w/o SL) from his thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
I was previously running it and didn't have any issues with WiFi.
The very first thing you need to do is flash a rom. The hack kit leaves you with the downgraded rom, which is strictly for the exploit during the root process. It is not intended to be left on the phone. You can flash back to the latest stock rooted rom or find a custom modded rom to try out.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Honestly you have tons of options. I have had a rooted phone for a long time and just now joined the site. I have been reading all the posts for months now and have gotten pretty good at it all. You first need to flash a new rom and learn how to tweak the base roms. Then once you master that, you will start flashing new radios and RILs. Then you will learn to mix and match kernals and roms. Then you will start to overclock and undervolt your cpu for performance enhancements and battery saving. There is a ton to do but reading the post in the development section will get you where you need to be. It will take some time but you will learn it all. Rom Manager is probably the most needed app of them all to start with.
Thanks for the replies folks!
I've gone and flashed my second rom! LOL...I know....what a young'en
I went with the Android Revolution ROM and I gotta say...loving the battery life so far...much better than stock.
I'm looking at changing the main theme and would like to go with the Code Red one. The pre reqs are - DEODEXED ROM, Root, S-Off, DHD Sense ROM, Clockwork Mod and ROM Manager.
So question - I now know that I've got all of the above met except for the DEODEXED ROM. Not sure what this is....I have searched the forums and wasn't able to come up with a clear answer as to what this means.
Oh...lesson learned...back up my contacts before I flash my next ROM. I lost it all! lol
Just a bump for some help.

all custom roms are deodexed. you do have to be careful when applying themes though. most of them are specific for a specific build of a rom. you cant always apply any theme to any rom

[Q] NFC On at lockscreen

There are mods for several other devices that keep NFC on when the phone is locked, screen off, ect. For example here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723193
Would that download work for the HOXL? If not, are there any versions ported for our phone? (I couldn't find any after searching)
Right now I am running CleanROM 5 final, but will be running CM/AOSP eventually.

I'm dying for this feature. The guy who did the one for the international HTC One X couldn't do it for a deodexed ROM.

If you find anything I'd love to hear it.
some aosp roms have that feature. cm10 does not right now, but others do. im not sure about sense roms.

Hopefully CM will add it soon... I've been holding off on CM/AOSP right now since it seems more laggy than sense does, I can't wait for HW VSYNC/butter to be finished. :fingers-crossed:
In the mean time.. it would be great if a developer could port this over to sense on the HOXL. :highfive:
Solved! I figured out the modifications Nfc.apk needed and made 'em: currently, NFC is active on my phone regardless of whether the screen is on or off and locked or unlocked.
As you guys know from the thread above and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709586, it needs to be built specifically for each ROM. I did it for CleanROM JL Beta 1 which is based on Android 4.1.1 with Sense 4+, so I don't know whether or not the apk would be useful for you. If so, I can post it. If not, I can try to re-build it for your ROM if you'd like - just post a link to the specific ROM you're running and I'll give it a shot.

I think this will work - give it a shot... If it doesn't, I have something else I can try.
I made 2 of 'em - one that should work when the screen is on but locked and another that should work anytime: screen on/off/locked/unlocked/etc. Remember to:
1) Back up your current /system/app/Nfc.apk
2) Rename whichever file you want to Nfc.apk
3) Put it in /system/app (file should be /system/app/Nfc.apk)
4) Set the permissions to 644 (rw,r,r)
5) Reboot
You may need to turn NFC off and back on? It can't hurt to try...
Give it a shot and let me know if it works.
Edit: stand-by, I forgot something...
Update: There we go. Now give it a shot!

It looks like screen off isn't working but lock screen seems to be working... Thank you for taking a stab at this. Really appreciate it!

i will make a a New Sense 2.1 ROM, its based on the ROM from Neophytex360
i have no massively edited the ROM or some tweaks, i have just updatet the apps, like google play or google maps etc.
so thats my idea to put an updatet ROM with Google play, while the other ROMs with Sense 2.1 are with the old market and have too much apps.
the target of the ROM is, make a ROM for young peoples, they dont need a RSS feed, Stocks app, or some business. remove friendstream + widget for example, because all browsing the feeds from the friends on the actyually facebook app^^
so i created a bootanimation, itz finish and removed some unfriendly apps and updatet the apps.
but the problem is i need help to make an installable .zip file
i can install the ROM only over the backup function but it takes too long and they are my privacy informations build-in
can me someone help me to create the SmilexSENSE ROM )

Now, seriously, this forum has some rules. Do you have the author's permission for using his work, and changing its name?
why not ?
why not to remove apps and called Abmildwild
we are at the end more ROMS D
Because it's called theft, and theft is not legal. If you do not have permission from the author of the original rom, then this thread will be closed for copyright infringement. Read the Xda rules before posting.

Its possible to download your modified rom?
Tks
When I get some time Ill upload it here.
But Ive to ask Baadnwz for permissions. Do you prefer stock or cm7r2 Version? Or both
OP's idea is not so good, but Ulixess' is.
Unfortunately though, this thread does not belong in android development just yet.
Yes thats right, it doesnt contain to much development yet.
However, I think Smilex and I could put our ideas together into one Rom.
What do you guys prefer, InsertCoin or Neophyte?
well, can't speak of neophyte rom but insertcoin was pretty good rom back then. my vote, +cm7r2...cheers!

Hm, MW is based on Euroskank which is based on CM7.2, so it's already the kang of a kang, maybe not your best example
And it's not theft like if he's stealing anything, come on, this is childish, if users like what he does, they'll use it, otherwise it'll just be another dead thread.
I know there are some guys around who think their special and no one may benefit from their work, but generally, it's about sharing, AOSP is open-source, CM is open-source...

Here's first report. I'm using your Rom for a day now,it worked well while I was at work, but when I came home wireless stopped working. I didn't reboot device or anything. It just says "unable to scan network". I can't see all my stored WiFi spots and it refuses to scan home network again.
Wife sees it normally, so it must be something within this Rom. I'll try reinstalling with only cache dalwik cache wipe later. Oh, data connection works normally...

Transparent app drawer/tray?

Hi, I have spent almost three days browsing trough the Sensation forum hoping to find an answer to my question, and I couldnt find a sufficient one so I decided to register and make a thread, Im really sorry if I somehow overlooked the answer, and if this thread is in the wrong place. First of all, thanks for all the people making guides for rooting as I have just rooted my Sensation Xe two days ago
Im currently running Android version 4.0.3, Android Revolution HD 7.3 XE, kernel SebastianFM and all I "want" is a transparent app drawer/tray (or at least a custom background, I hate the plain black one) and also, if possible, transparent background in the settings, notification bar and other menus while retaining the original (stock) look on everything else, by which I mean not using any custom launchers (nova, apex, etc). I tried flashing some of the Rosie modes and with some of them I got just a little bit of transparency, while with others it just crashed. Once again, sorry if this has already been answered, or there is a similar thread, but I really couldnt find one. Thank you very much for the answers
I would suggest you give this ROM a try it is fully customizer-able to how you want it to look and feel much easier than modding the files yourself you need special software to edit the files and also need to be quite knowledgeable in Photoshop ect...

Ok, Now your Solution is ---> Darksense Tweaks...It offers Transparent App drawer only with fix Transparency rate..it doesn't offer you custom background, though it looks nice on it.

Flash it like you flash a rom, under HTC Sense tab you can change App Drawer transparency, colours and use a background image if you want, isn't it exactly what you want? That way you can keep AHRD

Try to clear the data from HTC Sense Input (settings - apps - all apps), also, what recovery are you using?
Either way, I don't think the S-ON has anything to do with it, that's more related to kernels and stuff.
That's unexpected because in the thread where addons are listed, Leedroid's there, although for 6.8.x versions, but I remember using it on the 7 series and worked fine.
You can try however (if the problem persists after clearing HTC Sense Input data), to reinstall the rom without wiping (you would still have all your apps and config, and tweaks would still be there).

Hi!
I'm using xposed, added the Sense 5 Toolbox (2.1.1), has some great mods to customise the UI to your liking - haven't had any issues at all....
If anybody hasn't checked out Power Toggles, do it! Really handy for adding a toggle bar to the notification drop down, save using quick settings....

Cool. Did you do the flashing procedure as well?

No, just downloaded and installed the apk. I'm s-off though.
I'm just unlocked and rooted, no S-OFF. Only installed the APK and I have no issues with the Xposed uninstalling upon reboot. I have rebooted like three times now and it's still install.
I can confirm. Xposed is working as intended
No luck with the HKThemeManager though. But I'm not surprised since it seems to be intended for AOSP based roms.
I've been using it since I flashed the Hybrid rom, works great.
it works in CM11 also. (FYI)
XPosed Modules that i use in my One Mini
I am using Stock ROM Kitkat 4.4.2, Sense 5.5. XPosed Modules that i use and working are:
- Sense Toolbox
- XuiMod (Awesome animation)
- Unicon (If you want to use icon pack, not free though)
- Ice Cube (Part of Mikanoshi's Ice Cave Sound Mod)
- Bootmanager
- Gravitybox (Well not all feature, Extended Desktop and Custom Navigation Ring target worked with a little trick, but that's all i need from gravitybox)
Sense toolbox is really useful, I now prefer sense to aosp roms
Sent from my HTC One mini using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
s-on, Android 4.4 with Sense6 (stock, rooted, xposed installed).
Sense6Toolbox installed.
The only tweaks I do are 'flashlight when holding the power button' and using the volume buttons for the camera.
Then I disable Blinkfeed,
and use root and TitaniumBackup to freeze a whole bunch of bloatware I don't want (google+, facebook, twitter, instagram, htc stocks, etc..).
And I don't think I'll ever feel the need to go without Sense now. Since it's now just a basic launcher it works fine, maybe even better than the modern Google Now launcher.
So yeah, xposed seems to work fine. Since I'm s-on and had a stock kernel it couldn't write itself to /system, to it created a flashable .zip to do so from recovery. This flashed (and worked) fine, you just have to pay attention where it is the file is stored on your internal storage (had to look a bit ).
