That's the first place I looked bro. There's no backup folder in clockworkmod, there's just a recovery_version file, that's 35 bytes small..

Connect your device with pc in usb storage mod ... then make the CWMR folder available (make it free) by using attrib command(CMD)...

make it hidden
How do you make it hidden?
Using XDA Premium (GT-N7000)
make the folder's name begin with (.) like .data .private
Ok so sorry to jump in on this thread, so the program using the folder will still find it?. And how would you unhide it again from the phone?
Using XDA Premium (GT-N7000)
No, if you put . , then the program would make it again...
Some folders you just cannot delete...only way would be to uninstall the app, and then delete...
Also, folders like DCIM, .android_secure, cannot be deleted...
Don't worry, these folders hardly take up space...
Typed on a small touchscreen
So does not really hide a folder unless its not being used. Not that usefull really.

How do you guys delete cwm backups on external storage?

So I'm wondering how to do this since cwm uses blobs now and RM doesn't read nandroids on external SD card, only internal storage.

to my knowledge you don't want to touch the blob files as they may be linked to multiple Nandroids. Rather if you delete the backups from the /backup folder (the ones with the dates) the next time CWM boots to make a recovery or such it'll automatically delete the blob files it no longer needs.

Under /clockworkmod there's only ever been the /backup folder to my knowledge... I assumed he would be able to figure that part out once he browsed to that location and saw /backup
Edit:I take that back. I hadn't done a backup with the latest cwm. But still he should be able top figure out to delete the /backup folder contents and not the blob
Just delete the backups you don't want from CWM.

Do it from recovery.
Only way to properly delete the corresponding blobs.

what version are you using? Every time I try that, it doesn't delete it.

Cwm help

Trying to do a back up on my p3110 8gb, and don't really have enough space to do it,
For some reason it is also saving it before the SD card folder in data/media/something/backup/date
When I try to move it it tells me cannot move files after it attempts and moves a few I'm guessing this is due to file size and running out of space....
Is there a way to get cwm to save the backup to external SD, or at least to SD card directory instead of root? So I can copy the files onto my computer?
Or do I need to go on a deleting spree and potentially lose some gaming data....

Yeah, just pick backup to external. Its like the forth or fifth option down in cwms backup and restore menu

Blobs are folders with different applications and files. So better to take backup with both of folder. Be careful, If any file would be missing, you would lost whole backup. BTW, if you want then Just restore your that backup & select format in CWM backup in recovery. i.e. .Tar format.
Then delete blobs Using CWM & take backup. Save it..simple.

Yes you can..But V6 has lots of options then V4
You can create tar backups in CWMv6. It's much simpler.

Are you having trouble just copying the entire respective custom recovery folder onto your computer? I do monthly TWRP backups and just copy the entire folder onto my computer and delete older ones as I do so. Just did that last night actually.

Yea, I've been doing this for a solid 2.5 years going back to my last device. With TWRP, all I transfer over is the actual backup file since the file path does not change. With CWM, I used to copy over the entire CWM folder as it contained the blogs and backups in different folders. Best of luck my friend!
