thanks friend, i will try to change the sim card an test if the problem still continue, good idea, thanks.
Is that the 2.3.3 baseband? Maybe is a baseband issue, try flashing the baseband fix. Also download the app GetRIL from the app market. It's free. Make sure your RIL and Baseband are matching.

I am unable to hear calls sometimes when I answer them. After a reboot it seems to work fine. I first thought this might be because of the phone thinking headphones were still plugged in or something to that effect, but it doesn't seem to be the cause. I searched for some other posts, but they seem to be mainly WM phones.
This happened on stock root, as well as the latest Infuse Rom. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
it hapned the same with me today... instaled the stock rom and still the same... im tinking send it to warranty tomorrow.

its not the sim card.
Settings/Wireless and Network/Mobile network settings
Make sure that Use Packet Data and Data Roaming are checked.
if still no signal:
Use GTG's back to stock, if still no signal, bad sim or bad phone.
Hello! My girlfriend currently has this phone and she's been experience network drop problems. On the T-Mobile support site, it said that upgrading to Gingerbread would fix it, and it did for a few weeks, and then the problem occurred again. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and fixed it. Thanks!
Have you tried a different sim card? Sometimes the sim is the problem

She took it to T-Mobile and they said it was the phone's sim card reader that was in the fault. :/
Sucks its still under warranty though right?

I can't seem to get any service from my carrier. The phone can get reception/signal, it's just the phone displays No Service from the pull down notifications. And when I go into mobile settings and try to search for a network or anything, It says "Error while searching for networks." Is this the antenna problem? Would I have to open up the phone and adjust something? btw does anyone know where the antenna is located at?

Sounds like a hardware defect or Sim card issue.

I unlocked the sidekick, tried a ATT simcard got good reception like Tmobile, but still no service. Do you know where the antenna is in the sidekick?
Its probally an antena prob because surprisingly I droped my old samsung gravity smart in water by accident and my first thought was to take the battery out and let it dry, that succeeded on letting me turn it on fully but I had no reception what so ever which is odd but this sounds off topic a lil but I ended up bricking it o.o normaly t-mobile themselfs sometimes making horrible phones don't get me wrong their good but most of them are 2.2 froyo ._.

I just got my phone back from mobiletechvideos JTAG service. Since then, my phone struggles to hold WiFi and 3g. It very rarely pulls 4g. I have tried a factory reset. Also restored my IMEI backup just in case. I have an extra micro sim arriving today. I'm just wondering if I could be missing something simple or is my phone royally screwed?

Sounds like your radio.
They probably updated your baseband to MF1, I'd try to use mb1 firmware to see if that fixes your reception problem.

Thanks for the fast response! I flashed the MB1 firmware and still have poor signal. I'm starting to get depressed as this went from the best phone I've ever owned to the worst.

I did take the phone apart and found that the WiFi connection was loose. I corrected that. I started the phone back up and held the Sim card down in the slot while booting and the phone miraculously got 41asu.....for about 5 minutes and now its holding at a steady 2asu. So, would there definitely be something wrong with the Sim card? Or could the Sim port be going as well? Is there a way to test the Sim connectivity in the phone settings?

The lower the asu the better, in contrast to a higher dbm is a better signal.
2 asu is a pretty strong signal, you should be around -80 dbm.
Edit; Nevermind I mixed it up, a higher asu is better. I still think it's radio related though, but changing your sim card is an easy potential fix.

Well....sim card didn't work. Next I'm going to Odin back to pure stock and see if that helps. I'm starting to think it may be something in the NV items or hardware related. Hope I'm wrong though.

Hi David,
Often times when devices become bricked, it results in your NV items being damaged and causes this problem. Here is a guide that highlights this issue, and will tell you how to remedy the situation.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32397-tutorial-imei-backup-nv-with-qpst-us-variants/"
ugh. I really dont want to go messing around with the NV items if that is the case. Im in the process of flashing with ODIN now. I'll update if that works or not.
What is your IEM Showing?
If its been erased, then ODIN to stock firmware probably won;t fix that,
but, have you check your mobile network setting to see if you are on the correct network?
If you are with Verizon it should be set to CDMA, not GSM.

Software is not intermittent. Hardware can be. You may have a broken or loose antenna cable or connector inside the phone.

Found it!!!!! I took the phone apart one last time and found that one of the antenna contacts was bent and not touching the backplate. I bent it back and I'm getting perfect signal. Thank you guys for the input and feedback!

Hi David,
I'm glad to hear you resolved this issue. This is quite surprising as the S3 is relatively easy to work on internally and we had never had this issue after working on one. I'll take note of this in case it's ever observed in the future. In the mean time, anyone ever having a questions regarding their order, just call us at 657-444-JTAG. Rock on buddy!
