I don't think you folks have the ability of writing to system folders? If this is the case then it won't work? Did you change the permissions? There should be a 1 in the name of the apk which is required for it to work ie 1browser.apk and 1browsersynadapter.apk not exactly how it actually is but should give the drift, frigging tapatalk won't let me upload more pictures

I should but just put in the system/ app folder and change permissions rw-r-r and reboot
You need r/w previledges for it to work

Someone please try this in CWM, I made a CWM zip of the AOSP Browser.apk and ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter taken from the OP. I tested this on my Galaxy Nexus as I don't have the Moto X yet, and it worked fine, but YMMV.
For experienced folks, check my updater script for correct syntax:
PHP:
ui_print("AOSP Browser");
ui_print("Mounting system...");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
show_progress(1, 15);
delete("/system/app/Browser.apk");
ui_print("Copying files...");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
show_progress(1, 15);
ui_print("Fixing Permissions...");
set_perm_recursive(0, 0, 0755, 0644, "/system/app");
ui_print("Unmounting system...");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "umount", "/system");
ui_print("Installation complete!");

What will this do?This will root your One X, install Busybox, and install the SuperSU application for rights management.Instructions
Download and install the HTC mobile phone drivers. [Windows]
Download the mod edit: link removed
Extract root.zip into a directory on your computer.
Plug your HTC One X into your computer via USB. Recommended: Plug your device’s USB cable into the back of your computer if you’re using a desktop PC.
Enable USB Debugging on your HTC One X. Settings >> Developer Options >>USB debugging (checked)
Double click root.bat/root-linux.sh/root-mac.sh to run the script.
Congratulations! Your device will reboot a number of times and then you will have full root access.
Who do I thank?Don't thank me. Thank sparkym3 for this exploit. Thank crisis187 for testing it out first! Thanks viperboy for the primetime tool!Linux/Mac untested. Should be working now. Let me know if there are problems.
Thanks Kpenn!
You are a gentleman and a scholar
Inside root.zip there's only "root.img"
Now it should work. File host problem. My bad guys!
Restored with my retail RUU and ran this, worked perfectly!
Tips:
-Disable HTC Sync when you do this
-Make sure the port is open
-kill existing ADB.exe processes
otherwise you can get adb server out of date messages and a few other errors
If your adb is giving errors try to disable firewall - that happened to me
So this method is anonymous? As in htc wouldnt know?
Can anyone confirm this is a working root for at&t X ?

Tried SE, still not able to move anything into system/app. It was suggested In the viper thread to try reflashing elemental first, then dirty flash viper. If that doesn't work only thing to do would be to completely wipe. I did come from ICS without wiping everything in twrp (ran the wipe in aroma though). Could that have anything to do with it? I know that's farfetched but I'm not sure what else it could be.

edit: just an update. i dirty flashed both viper and elemental and im still unable to move the files. only thing left is to do a complete wipe again.
Make a zip to flash in twrp. Or use a zip from themes that flashes system apps... Open with 7zip and replace those files with yours.. then close zip. Flash in twrp.

Bring photosphere to moto x [4.4.2]

Previous a nexus 4 user, and I am missing the photosphere feature which is not implemented in the moto camera.
Therefore, I tried the slim photosphere package on my moto x ( T mobile version, aka xt1053 ) and it works without any problem.
The installation is simple, which I listed below:
1. download the photosphere zip from http://slimroms.net/index.php/downl...78-addons4-4/7994-photosphere-4-4-2-build-2-x
2. create a file ".forcephotosphere" under the root of the sdcard, and fill it with "hammerhead", which means I will install the camera app designed for nexus 5. You could try other nexus device as well, such as mako which is nexus 4.
3. reboot into your favorite recovery and install the zip
I have tested it with T mobile 4.4.2, with an unlocked bootloader and twrp 2.6.3.1.
BTW, I removed the moto gallery since it contains less feature as compared to google gallery, such as the ability to sync with picasa, the ability to view photosphere photo.

not really, because it requires permissions, a framework jar, and libs for it to function properly, and these can be added only with root access. you can sideload the camera and gallery apks, but they won't be fully functional.

[APP][4.4+] OmniSwitch: Recent apps switcher for all KitKat ROMs

OmniSwitch is a recent apps switcher created for OmniROM by maxwen, you can read more about it here. Even though the app was developed for OmniROM, it works on all KitKat ROMs. Users of non-KitKat ROMs can take a look at OmniSnitch.
The attached .zip file is to be used with custom recovery and flashes OmniSwitch.apk (extracted from OmniROM) to /system/priv-app, the app needs to be in this location for the kill apps function to work. You can also copy the attached apk to system/priv-app, you will also need to set the permissions to rw-r--r--, do not install it. If you're interested in the source code, you can find it here.
This thread was created with maxwen's permission.
Edit: I have changed both files, from what I saw with the tests I did, both methods work now. Thanks to ultimahwhat for the new apk and to OrglCe for his zip creator.
Let me know if there are any problems.
Edit: If you have any permission problems, it should be fixed after using lucky patcher to remove signature verification on your phone, as always, this is at own risk.

Can you try to flash it with a custom recovery? I was also struggling to get it to work by copying it, I got it working once but don't know what I did different, haven't had any problems when flashing via recovery.

I have tried both ways maybe it's the cm11 rom for the U which is the issue I'm not sure though
Tried flashing it on stock 4.4.2 setup (rooted) on Nexus 5. Keep getting failed to gain permissions errors. Checked root explorer and correct permissions were shown however.
ive flashed the zip, now how do i enable and use it??
I'm also getting the start failed error, I'm trying to figure out how to fix it.
I think I messed up with the signatures/certificates, I'm busy looking for a solution.

In the meantime, found a potential workaround, hope it is a kosher suggestion... Omni switch was included with and working on pac rom, so I just extracted the apk from one of the nightlies and copied it into the appropriate directory, changed permissions. Did not get permissions error after reboot and am able to use it with drag handle. Now if I could just replace the default recents launcher...

Works great on my device, thanks! In my opinion the best feature for multitasking on android, should be built in in any rom
