You are still on a custom recovery. Use odin and flash a stock image.
If your just going stock to take the ota just wait and someone will make a flashable out of it.

I'm trying to avoid flashing stock again, but I'm not using a custom recovery as you said: I used Chainfire auto-root so I still have stock recovery.
Fixed
I re-rooted (same method) then used triangle away to reset bin counter, and under this button there was another one to turn the device status to "official". Then afterwards, I went to the SuperSU app, tapped cleanup and unroot, then rebooted. Now I can use OTAs

There's a TWRP recovery that works. I couldn't get CWM to backup. Have successfully backed up and restored via TWRP

If my research is correct flashing CWM trips the binary counter and creates the little triangle. (correct me if im wrong)
if one flashes stock recovery again does the binary counter revert back and remove the triangle?
No, you need to install triangle away while the device is rooted, run this then the flash counter will be reset. Triangle away will install a kernel on to reset the flash counter, there's a warning that this might brick your device (so might flashing with ODIN, flashing with CWM but you've done that already) but just go ahead and continue. I know it works with an N8000 as I have done it countless times...
Flash a stock rom after this and system will be stock, status : normal and 0 flash count...

I'm thinking about rooting my Note 10.1 (mostly because I want to use DicertoryBind/Link2SD) via ClockworkMod Recovery.
My questions:
I won't receive any OTA updates, cause the status will be custom, right?
I want to stay on stock FW, what can I do to update my tablet if there is a new OTA:
Can I directly flash the FW from sammobile with odin or are they not campatible with cwm? Would that mean that every time there is a new OTA, I have to unroot, flash back to stock recovery, get the OTA, flash back cwm and root again?
Isn't there a way to flash the update while keeping all my data (just like normal OTA does) and root ?

Okay, that means I download the firmware from for instance sammobile, flash it using ODIN (will that be PDA only, like flashing cwm?), and then re root means install superSU again from cwm or installing cwm completely new?

Hey, thanks so far, I just installed CWM, everything went fine, but if I look at the system status it still says "offical", does that mean I can receive OTA's? Or won't that work cause of CWM?
Also I believe before it didn't say "official" but "normal".
*edit* okay, nevermind, after a reboot it sys now "custom"
Since you have rooted your device you can also use Mobile ODIN to flash the roms from sammfirmware directly on your note 10.1. You just make sure everroot is ticked but if you think you might loose root then have both the CWM.tar file saved on your device, its a tiny file so no real space lost or if you don't care about CWM but want root access then keep the exynosexploit.apk on your device. I have everything I need on the sd card in case I cant get to a PC. Much better when I'm not tied to the PC...

Thanks so far, but theres one question left: From what you've said I think it's possible to flash with odin or mobile odin while CWM is still installed, what will happen to CWM after the flash? Is it completely gone (stock recovery comes with the firmware?!) or does "re root" only mean that I have to reinstall superSU with CWM?
You will go back to stock recovery but you might retain root if you ticked everoot function....
As I said earlier, you can reflash CWM onto your Note using mobile ODIN if you have the CWM.tar file stored on your device...
+1 for Mobile Odin if you're wanting to stay stock.
Use Exynos Abuse to root the first time.
Install Mobile Odin pro.
Backup your EFS partition off the device.
Install CWM using Mobile Odin and make a nandroid backup.
Back up apps with Titanium if required.
Download the new stock from you want and use Mobile Odin to install with Everoot selected.
Use Mobile Odin to install CWM.
Simplest method I've found by far.

After rooting with exynos abuse root, can you just do a factory reset to make you stock again to get OTA's?
I don't believe so (prepared to be corrected) but if you reinstall the stock rom without Everoot ticked and factory reset you'll be back to stock unmodified.

Never tried but I don't think so, The OTA checks for an unmodified system and even though stock recovery says its official the status in settings is "Custom".
What if I'm on the stock rom (never went custom) and stock recovery. All I did was root? Would a recovery restore allow me to get OTA's?
if you are on stock recovery then why would you restore recovery.
Yes if you are rooted only you will receive OTA if you are on the orignal rom (rom from country which note was purchased irrespective of the version you are on)

That is my situation, exactly. So, I can take OTAs in my present situation? I used #2 root option from zedomax. I haven't changed anything or used a custom rom. All I want to do is get current on my updates, and retain root and CWM.
Should I also use TriangleAway, and at what point? Thank you.

If you used method 2 you have replaced the stock recovery... That's what CWM recovery means...
You're flash counter will now be one and need to be reset using triangle away. No OTA for you...

Hi everyone,
Now I know I'm not alone on this because I've seen quite a few other questions about this and I haven't really seen any straight forward answers about this same problem.
Anyways I own the N8013 and like many I couldn't wait for the US version of 4.1 so I flashed the german n8010 version. No problems there, Ive been using it fine. However I always intended to go back to stock,and for the most part I have. I got back on the n8013 ics, reset the flash counter and all that so I am no longer custom and it says I haven't flashed anything. Downloaded the 4.1 OTA update, checked to make sure I wasn't rooted, I'm not, so almost everything is perfect. The only problem I have left is that SuperSU is on the device and I cant uninstall it.
Now I heard something about rooting to uninstall it but Im confused because if I root then remove it how do I unroot? Also Im worried that this will somehow affect my flash counter and official status. Anyways I'd really appreciate some help on this, I know there are others like me who could benefit from maybe a simple step by step process of getting SuperSU off and getting to unmodified, stock, unroot status. I have a physical defect with my device and even though I've heard samsung is lenient id like to not take any chances.

Root, run triangle away to reset counter. Go to supersu and find in settings the unroot and remove supersu setting. It will remove super su and unroot. You may need to reflash the stock recovery or stock rom again via ODIN. Stock recovery is only a few seconds, stock rom about 4 - 5 mins.... Your choice....
Should be completely stock now...

Well I already rooted and reset the counter, the problem is I can't find any setting in SuperSu to remove itself. I found the unroot which I ran but I dont know where to remove SuperSU, maybe I'm missing it? Or do I need to re root and follow these steps again? Or do I just flash stock again? Also if I flash stock through ODIN will that affect my counter? Sorry If I'm just missing it, I really appreciate your help.

What do I need to insure my system won't crash?
I have an unlocked bootloader, and am rooted. I already did a factory reset on my device. Some system apps are gone though, as I have deleted them (mostly Google stuff though, nothing crucial). Will I be good to go? (And yes, I will save the SBF and post it, no worries, have a Dev Host account and will upload).

-Remove Root (eith via OTA Rootkeeper or stock kernel)
-Flash Stock Recovery (OTA has never worked for me w/ custom recovery)
I'd recommend wiping and flashing both stock images in the thread below via fastboot to avoid bootloops and other hassles.

If you want to grab the update package and save it you should prevent it from being deleted. I know that twrp could not install asa14 OTA update when I got it so it was just hanging there in /cache along with md5 (or sha1, I can't remeber) checksum file.
I do not know if there are other ways of saving the update package nor if devs actually need it. But ASA14 got to my bootloader unlocked, gsm modded, rooted stock rom and after booting to recovery it just stayed there, no install happend (I installed it manually) because twrp did not pass the command properly or what ever the reason.
This update is coming from motorola directly, not sprint, right?
Anyway, perhaps someone can give you more accurate details. I personally would flash twrp and see if updated arrives. Because /cache is wiped by the update installer after installation. All automated process. After device boots to recovery it installs the package, wipes caches and reboots, if I am not mistaken.
I believe for the past updates we had the best luck by reverting the recovery back to stock as well. You have missing APKs that you removed so those will very likely be looked for by the update and will fail the update process if missing.
So if all goes well this should be the bare minimum I'd say for getting the update to work:
MAKE A BACKUP, don't want to have a bricked phone yeah? I mean you could have Jelly Bean on it finally... but still bricked...
Revert the recovery to stock if you installed TWRP or ClockworkMod, adb reboot bootloader | fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Restore any and all apps you deleted from the stock image, either by restoring fully to stock or putting them back manually, wouldn't hurt to do another update check in the play store for them as well.
Temp unroot with OTA Rootkeeper
Download the update, reboot it, do a song and dance, ???, profit.
Now, you might try to restore root asap, it may or may not work, we won't know till we try.... I'm using Superuser 3.1.3 and on their website it claims its for arm devices 2.0-4.1 so maybe it'll work. Your bootloader should still be unlocked I'd imagine, so you can reflash your custom recovery and make a new backup.
I just recently got the newest update. I downloaded all 99mb of it, plugged in my charger and it rebooted to update my phone. But when it turned on again my phone hasn't been updated, it's still 4.4.2. Checking for updates doesn't work at all.
Anyone have a clue where the download is stored so I can just try to manually flash it?

I read somewhere that the script will abort if your device is rooted. Not sure if this applies to you.

Incorrect. Root has nothing to do with it. You will lose root after updating, but it's as simple as flashing SuperSU in your custom recovery to get it back. The reason it's failing is because you have a custom recovery, and are trying to apply the OTA from within Android. If you do that, you have to have stock recovery. If you are stock, just with root, you can flash the OTA.zip using your CWM recovery. The OTA.zip can be found in the /cache directory. I believe it reverts your custom recovery back to stock recovery, but getting it back is as easy as fastboot flashing it.
