I just recently got the newest update. I downloaded all 99mb of it, plugged in my charger and it rebooted to update my phone. But when it turned on again my phone hasn't been updated, it's still 4.4.2. Checking for updates doesn't work at all.
Anyone have a clue where the download is stored so I can just try to manually flash it?

I read somewhere that the script will abort if your device is rooted. Not sure if this applies to you.

Incorrect. Root has nothing to do with it. You will lose root after updating, but it's as simple as flashing SuperSU in your custom recovery to get it back. The reason it's failing is because you have a custom recovery, and are trying to apply the OTA from within Android. If you do that, you have to have stock recovery. If you are stock, just with root, you can flash the OTA.zip using your CWM recovery. The OTA.zip can be found in the /cache directory. I believe it reverts your custom recovery back to stock recovery, but getting it back is as easy as fastboot flashing it.

I received notice this morning that a firmware update was ready to install. I chose to install it and the tablet rebooted and start to apply the update. However, it gets to 32% on the update install, stalls, and then reboots and does the exact same thing.
Any thoughts on a solution?

i have the same problm :crying:
Need more info than that.
For example... Are you rooted or stock?
If rooted, there are a couple of reasons off hand I can think of you could be having a problem.
If you're stock, well... All I can think of is wave your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don't care. Pretty sure that won't fix the problem though, but if it does, report back! xD
I'm rooted.

exactly the same problem
I have the exact same problem.
GT-N8013, rooted, stock rom with root injected.
I called Samsung tech service and they said I should send my device to them.
The only way I can get out of this "update->reboot->update->reboot->..." infinite loop is to get into ODIN mode. (I can't turn off the device)
I decided to re-flash my rom (stock rom with root injected) in ODIN mode, but it does not have any effect and the device is still on this infinite loop. I'm worried if I messed up the device even more by doing that.

Is there any way I can at least access the internal storage somehow and copy my data?

Try using Odin to flash the high on android cwm recovery. Once I did that I could restore a backup and boot to android.
Thank you! but I've been on stock recovery so I never flashed cwm or made a cwm backup. How can I restore to a backup after I flash the cwm recovery?

if you've never flash CWM, that means you never backed up via CWM, which means you can't restore to a back up. You have to use ODIN and flash a stock firmware on your note to recover it
Yes I'm trying to find a stock firmware for N8013 (UEALGB) but no luck. There is only "root injected" stock firmware, which is causing the problem right now...
Has anyone resolved this problem?

I have a N8013 and was running the stock, root injected firmware (UEALGB). Today I got the update notification. I tried to install and it kept looping. This is what I did:
1. Flashed the stock firmware with ODIN. You'll find the stock firmware here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706
2. When my tab rebooted, I got another update notification. I installed it and it worked. I'm now running UEALI3.
I didn't lose any data. I just lost root.
This worked for me as well. Thanks a lot, Vincent9756!:good:

Flash the recovery version for your firmware. If you have stock, flash the GB recovery. If you have LH2, flash that.
If you want to save root, use OTA RootKeeper before doing anything.

Im sorry but what do you mean GB Aaah that was the primary stock recovery before i updated to LH2 lol, now i get it.?The one that i have is the CWM HighonAndroid which was used for the Method 2 to obtain root, so then i jus tdownoad the stock LH2 Recovery, and use OTA rootkeeper before Odin LH2 Stock Recovery right? Will there also be a stock kernel and recovery for UEALI3 ? was thinking of possibly using the Triangle Away after this, possibly might be needed. Though maybe not.
Just want to make sure that everything is normal after this lol
ok... giving it a shot now, and using the OTA RootKeeper, lets see if this works
Everything Got updated !!! OTA seems to have worked which was awesome.
Testing everything to make sure that Root is fully funtional .
Used RootChecker, and things seems fully working!
Thank you loads for the help!

Yeah, there will most certainly be kernel and recovery uploads.
the only issue you might run into is CWM not sticking. If it doesn't reflash CWM in ODIN with reboot unchecked. Then after you flash it, boot into CWM. When you select reboot, it should offer to prevent stock recovery from replacing it.
and you're welcome, glad to help
Guys u might think this is a dumb question but how do i flash stock recovery with odin like were do insert the file i know how tp put in dl mode and get my comp to see my tab in odin and i did flash the prerooted injected stock uealgb recovery to get root i just dont know were to put the files in odin some help would be greatly appreciated, cause i need to flash this first before i do the ota update correct ? If not i will bootloop ? So rootkeeper alows me to keep root acess after ota? Thanks guys

Hello it's been several days i can't find a solution to my problem. I flash official RTFR 4.1.2 via RDS Lite and then i upgrade to Kitkat 4.4.2 via OTA update.
When my phone reboot i have The Unlocked Bootloader Warning logo on the screen, but i lost the root.
This is the version i have: 180.46.127.XT925.CEE-Retail.en.EU.
I did install a recovery (Philz Touch, CWM,) but when i reboot to recovery it was not working and i had the google Droid with a red triangle.
I'd like to know if it is possible to root my phone in order to flash the CM12 ROM? Or with this official update i'm stuck with 4.4.2 and won't be able to root?
Thanks for your help.
When you install a custom recovery after taking the OTA, the recovery will usually ask you to disable stock recovery restore. If you don't, then the stock recovery will be reinstated upon next boot. Once you've got a custom recovery installed and disabled the stock recovery, you should be able to root it from there. Most modern recoveries will handle both the disabling of stock recovery restoration and install root (su) for you.
I know the one I use does.

When i installed the recovery it didn't ask me to disable stock recovery restore. Where do i get that request, on my phone or on my PC? Which custom recovery that allow me to disable the stock recovery do you recommand?
After you install recovery, immediately power off your phone, boot straight back into recovery (not the OS, otherwise stock recovery will over ride the aftermarket recovery), once in recovery the update script will complete and the installation will be complete. Once in the recovery, you can choose the option that CW mentioned.

I have a Nexus 5 running stock Lollipop (5.0). My phone is rooted and has CWM Recovery installed. I've tried to update OTA to 5.0.1 twice now. Both time, it has downloaded the update and rebooted as usual. Then CWM Recovery prompts me to install the update. After hitting "Yes" it appears to install the update and then informs me that root may have been lost. I've tried saying both "yes" and "no" to fixing that. In both cases, I've retained root, but my phone remains at 5.0 instead of 5.0.1.
From my limited rooting knowledge, I can see flashing the factory image would be the most straightforward way to updating, but obviously that would wipe my phone. Titanium can only back up so much. Plus I want a simpler way to do this in the future. To me, it seems another solution would be to revert to the stock recovery and have that install the update. However, I don't know how to revert to the factory recovery without flashing the factory image. All of that being said, what is the best way to OTA with a stock ROM but a custom recovery?

It's been said about a million times on this forum:
You have to be stock or the OTA won't work. Stock system, stock recovery, stock kernel etc. Extract and flash files from the factory image just don't flash the userdata.img file.

Thanks. I don't spend much time on here and I didn't see a post that gave me something concrete.
I'm currently downloading the 5.0.1 factory image from Google, but since it's such a large file and my internet is quite slow, it's going to be over an hour yet before its finished. That being said, I downloaded the .zip version of the OTA update as linked on phandroid and attempted to install it with CWM. Dispite the fact that I'm running Lollipop, I got the following error. I've shortened the name of the .zip because its quite long.

I flashed the factory image for Android 5.0 a couple of weeks ago so I don't see any reason why it should see the KRT16M fingerprint. Any ideas?
EDIT: Never mind. Looks like this has the same effect and won't work if I'm not completely stock. I'll just wait for the factory image to download and flash that. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I am getting the same error.

I actually tried reverting to stock recovery using Flashify. Though it shows success but when I try to run the update, it doesn't get past the recovery mode, android with the red exclamation mark. Not sure where I am going wrong with it specially when I have been flashing since last 3 years.

So, basically you left your shield tablet without a rom installed? If you have CWM recovery, you could flash a Full OTA found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...k-recovery-images-ota-library-guides-t2988881
It happened to me to. So I downloaded a Philz built in Jan (I googled it)**** and I flashed the full 2.1 ota.
You could flash the TWRP 2.8.5.0 found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58864006&postcount=90 and then flash the full ota.
Then, Im thinking, you could flash stock recovery. I'd recommend flashing TWRP though, I had a problem with CWM and I could not flash full 2.1 OTA with it.
PS: Did you try wiping system from CWM and then flashing system with fastboot?
****EDIT: I found the Philz I used: https://goo.im/devs/playground/shieldtablet/Philz_Touch-01-02-2015_14.18-TN8-WiFi.zip
but Ive moved forward to TWRP since I couldn't make nandroid backups with it.

Probably because you have custom recovery still or you are rooted.
The android red guy happens bc you are rooted (it'll happen even if you have stock recovery).
To system update, you have to be without custom recovery AND unrooted.
EDIT: Im theoretically speaking. I am rooted, therefore, I dont update via OTA.
i tried to recover to factory but i am stuck at system.img which dun seem to be copying into my tablet i manage to flash twrp in and wat else can i do to make it working again?
thanks
I want to update to the new 12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 and I haven't found any tutorials or anything that really actually helped so could anyone tell me how I could do it and keep root I tried just going and updating with TRWP but I got an error which I think it because I'm using the latest version of TWRP which I can fix that but I can't find anything saying if I will lose root or stuff like xposed if I update
If I'm not mistaken, the full flashable zip is not released yet, so your best bet is to update it OTA, which will remove root. You can then re-flash TWRP recovery and SuperSU to regain root. I can't comment on Xposed as I don't use it.
I always believed in not taking OTA updates while rooted. I know it's different with cm and o²os and all, but it's just good habits. Wait for a twrp flashable of the update

OTA will never work on a rooted phone FYI. You need a stock system with CM recovery for it to pass the OTA checks and for it to successfully flash

Can I just flash it without reseting and keep all my apps and what not or do I have to do a reset? Also this will reset Xposed right?
You can flash this via twrp recovery
cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1-bacon-signed.zip
From
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63421581&postcount=3
You can backup your apps in titanium backup after flash above ROM you can restore them.
Official cm 13 came up. Aren't you know ? That can also twrp flashable. I get in CyanogenMod website.
I flashed one of them and got it updated no apps reset or anything have everything along with Xposed and Root
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=bacon would the newest nightly be the right thing to do and I don't really know what has changed in CM 13 anything removed that was big?
