Xperia L vs Xperia U: main diffrences - Sony Xperia L

hello people, i'm a folk from Argentina and here devices are not that cheap, so we have to make a real deep investigation before we get to buy these kind of things.
i've been reading a little bit (just thought today to get this device) and i've got to know that this model does not support OTG on the go.
so my thread is about that kind of stuff, specially get in touch with people that have had xperia u and now this one.
thanks to all and regards from the deep south :good:

This is support OTG already but lack of power, so you need an usb hub with external power.

the screen is better on L. the camera is better.more proccesing power. and if u want to stick to official FW , L has better support (JB out of the box).

U have out of box otg support And power needed
Where L have it but need extra power to make it work
U n l cam almost same as I came from U and didn't found Amy difference
No offense just sharing my experience

Is anybody getting force close intermittently ??
Sent from my MT11i using XDA
Hi! Looks like people aren't interested to answer your inquiry
These are some of the reasons:
1. Xperia Neo V has a small userbase. Devs aren't very interested in the development of devices with a few users. Look at the Toshiba Thrive, a fantastic device with poor dev support.
2.The Xperia Neo V is fairly new. Devs will likely start developing it once the phone drops in price so they can get it at a bargain.
3.The official ICS rom is coming to the Neo V some time soon. Some devs are probably waiting for it so they can save time by basing their development on the one made by Sony.
Just my opinion. Anyway I suggest you stay with the official Timescape from Sony. I'm one of the lucky ones to have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo (with the 8MP cam). I find it good enough to run almost every app on the Play Store. It scores 1700 on quadrant. I actually encounter lags only when browsing multiple sites or when viewing high res photos.
Cheers,
Cezar
I read in some other thread a comparison between roms and shoes... you got to try em, no one can make a reliable recommendation for you
Dont do anything, just wait for ics update for your phone. Its own the way
But if you are impatient, try cm9 (most stable and reliable)
Sent from my Legend using xda premium
Thanks for your replies.... But girish, cm9 doesnt support my mt11i.. Its only for mt15i...
Sent from my MT11i using XDA
if you want custom rom then its good as it have good features
according to me the KA (ka01 to ka15)series is best rom of ics for our neo v
and cm9(the unofficial port to neo v) is good but not for daily usage as it have bugs
if you want gingerbread roms i would prefer you stick with stock coz i didnt find any rom that is bug free and stable for gaming

hey being an xperia p user i can really vouch that it is way bettter than samsung galaxy s advance ! firstly i would like to put it that samsung has a very poor update policy in india whereas sony xperia p is getting updated to ics 4.0.4 within a week or two ! then again s advance doesnt have nfc and just a 5 mp mediocre cam !! i compared the photos of my phone with my friends s advance on my computer and sonys camera had a stunning pics ! even the super amoled display doesnt compare to my sxp white magic display ! and it has lesser ram available dan sxp ! only thing is that amsung has a gr8 service support in india !!! hope u find my reply useful
Where i live the difference of price is big,s advance is much more cheap, the battery of this phone is very good and the P one said to don't last to much.I really like S Advance!

in india the Maximum Retail Price of S advance is rs. 26999 whereas that of sony xperia P is rs.25799 !! well the pricing strategy of samsung atleast in india is always really bad ! they try to keep a whole lot of margin for the distributors, retailers !! however the best buy price of the s advance in the market is rs.22000 whereas i got my xperia p for rs.23200 that is just 5% more than s advance !! so i guess price isnt a big discrimator in our country regarding both the phones ! well i personally prefer the p but well den again like u mentioned ur phone had a better battery 200 mah more dan my phone and a expansion slot ! bdw my battery lasts me around a day on average use of somewhere about 1 and half hour of gaming and somewhere 2 hours of music and approx 1 hour of other apps !! i would like to know about s advances battery life caus my firend owning the same claimed his battery too lasted just a day !!
Basically my usage is about 2 hours of music,2 hours gamming and something close to 2 hours of internet navigation with wifi and a half hour with 3g.I only turn on data when i need, the same for wifi and gps.I never let it run totally out of baterry but i can say its lasts about 1 and a half day surely. But like you said the price is not soo different in your country, and i really like the P,so in that case i would buy a Xperia instead a SGSA.

helpppppp

hi , i have finally saved enough money to buy unlocked either xperia z or galaxy s4 , i have researched on gsm arena, cnet etc websites and all of them say the galaxy s4 has some good hardware and features and xperia z has awesome design but less features , i currently want the phone with the most developer support for custom roms and stuff , the problem is the galaxy s4's variant with quadcore is available here , can any person who has used both phones recommend which one is better ? no fanboyism please thanks :highfive:
I would take xperia z
Reasons
Snapdragon based... So sources are available and thus developer friendly..
Awesome looks
Water proof so u don't have to worry abt rains or toilets or tubs
Regarding s4 octa core...
Poor developer support... No sources... And belive me 8cores dun work SIMULTANEOUSLY
regarding quad core variant... A bit similar to xperia z ... And again snapdragon so MAY get good support...
My pick xperia z ...
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/...galaxy-s4-vs-sony-xperia-z-comparison-review/ says the battery is same but users here claim s4 has more battery life ? , tbh it doesnt bother me much even if XZ has a bit less battery life i think i will go with the xperia z thanks for the quick reply anyway.
Xperia z ftw! Simply because Sony is way more supportive to developers than any other oem out there
Sent using Tapatalk
I bought the Arc s as in my opinion its the most stylish phone and good specs for my needs.
I was going to upgrade to the Z but it does not have a removable battery.
What happens if it freezes
Sorry, but I closed this thread. There are 2 threads devoted to questions about devices, please feel free to repost your question in one of these two threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1620179 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1846277
Thanks!
P.S. I would watch the commercials and pick the device solely based on which device had the best looking spokes person.

[discussion]Android 4.3 for our devices

Hello guys ,
Contradictory to our expectations, android 4.3 was launched instead of 5.0
So let's check the new release out....
Here we can discuss about 4.3, the possibilities for bringing it to our devices, modding etc...
Also if someone finds something related to 4.3 ,feel free to add the link
The main specs of Android 4.3 jellybean
Restricted profiles limit access to apps and content, at home with your family and at work. Bluetooth Smart support makes Android ready for a whole new class of mobile apps that connect to fitness sensors.
Games look great thanks to the 3D realistic, high performance graphics powered by OpenGL ES 3.0.
And there's a lot more new in this release:Audio*.Virtual surround sound - enjoy movies from Google Play with surround sound onNexus 7 (2013 edition)and other Nexus devices.Surround sound is powered byFraunhofer Cingo™mobile audio technology.
Please feel free to add new info....
And while replying please do not quote the whole topic...

Good is good.
But Sony don't get update Miro,Tipo,E and J.
Because Qualcomm Snapdragon S1
(Miro ,Tipo,E ,J's processor) don't support OpenGL ES 3.0.
The sound technology on Nexus 7(2013) only on it.
Conclusion is Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 device don't got Android 4.3.

That's not true. It is not mandatory that devices support OpenGL ES 3.0 to get updated to 4.3. If they don't, they will stick with OpenGL ES 2.0 but get all other features.
However, I agree that these devices might not get updated do Android 4.3 because Sony won't want to update low-end devices. Probably they will give it to the Xperia T and S and that's it.

Sony Moves Towards Non-z Series for the L update roll out... :P

Sony announced that the Non Z Mid range phones T2 Ultra and C3 will be getting the lollipop update officially soon... Though they said earlier that the update will be only available to the Z series... Sony is unpredictable, And as we all know that Our beloved Xperia E3 was released after both the devices... And has good configuration as both the devices... So chances are that maybe Sony will release Lollipop sooner or later for the owners of M2, E3 and other mid-range devices running Kitkat...

if official lollyopop came then freexperia AOSP will soon become stable cuz they can use official lollyopop to learn.
and porting it to non LTE devices will become super easier.
I like UI of xperia lollypop.
It look,s really cool and also it gives good battery/performance improvement.

Hey have you used screen mirroring in your phone to LCD TV?? Like DLNA device such as Miracast or Chromecast? Does E3 support DLNA screen mirroring??? I have used it for playing audio and video on LCD TV but I was hoping that I could get the phone's screen on TV wireless... And also which type of TV out does it support?? MHL?

I agree here for not using aosp 5.x.x and cm12. biggest reason for not using aosp 5.x.x and cm12 should be it removes sony,s tweek,s which will cause loosing camera quality (mostly at dark places) loosing audio quality (mostly at outdoor) loosing battery life (mostly at a place with too much light or gaming)
So better use official lollypop. i love xperia UI it,s 10x better than kitkat UI.

i used to play games/movies on my sony bravia LED tv using mirroring on my xperia E3 dual.
and that feature is hidden someware in setting,s NEVER FOUND WERE.
I used an app from playstore which directly open mirroring setting. i forgot name of app but if you only want to play videos then use [imediashare] app if you want to mirror screen then search for app. hope you find it. i don,t use mirroring often so i removed app long time ago. app was so small maby 10 to 100 kb(it uses miracast and dlna i think so).
