Hello guys ,
Contradictory to our expectations, android 4.3 was launched instead of 5.0
So let's check the new release out....
Here we can discuss about 4.3, the possibilities for bringing it to our devices, modding etc...
Also if someone finds something related to 4.3 ,feel free to add the link
The main specs of Android 4.3 jellybean
Restricted profiles limit access to apps and content, at home with your family and at work. Bluetooth Smart support makes Android ready for a whole new class of mobile apps that connect to fitness sensors.
Games look great thanks to the 3D realistic, high performance graphics powered by OpenGL ES 3.0.
And there's a lot more new in this release:Audio*.Virtual surround sound - enjoy movies from Google Play with surround sound onNexus 7 (2013 edition)and other Nexus devices.Surround sound is powered byFraunhofer Cingo™mobile audio technology.
Please feel free to add new info....

Good is good.
But Sony don't get update Miro,Tipo,E and J.
Because Qualcomm Snapdragon S1
(Miro ,Tipo,E ,J's processor) don't support OpenGL ES 3.0.
The sound technology on Nexus 7(2013) only on it.
Conclusion is Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 device don't got Android 4.3.

That's not true. It is not mandatory that devices support OpenGL ES 3.0 to get updated to 4.3. If they don't, they will stick with OpenGL ES 2.0 but get all other features.
However, I agree that these devices might not get updated do Android 4.3 because Sony won't want to update low-end devices. Probably they will give it to the Xperia T and S and that's it.

Hello,
I am thinking of buying a new Xperia x8.I am a great fan of SE as my previous and present phones are SE.However,I have seen that SE isn't producing quality products these days, rather isn't giving justice to their customers. They have stopped official x8 android updates.I am extremely fond of modding the firmware for changing fonts, battery icon etc. and previous SE assisted that.
I also want good sound quality.
What do you feel, shall I buy Xperia x8 or any other ?If other which ? It shall have approx same cost.
Thanks a lot.
i got a desire of ebay for £140, if thats too much i,d c how much you can get a zte blade for, hell of lot better than a x8, or even if you can afford it, an x10

ZTE Blade is Dell XCD35 in India if I am not mistaken. Is it better that SE Xperia x8 ?? And what about support and official updates ? Can it be updated to Android 3.3 in future ? What about modding support et.,coz SE has many users so good support for unofficial hacks etc.
Please suggest.
Xperia mini vs HTC Wildfire, which is better ?? Coz Xperia mini has resistive touch screen. Also comment on sound quality !
Thank you !

i would suggest x8, it's cool..you can do custom ROM in it and get 2.3.5 gingerbread version
i think zte Blade is more cost-effective.you know ,x8 is so small, and hardware is too old
I'm mostly buying Xperia mini !
Hi folks,
This is my first topic and it's very nice to participate in this kind of forum where we can share our opnions and information.
I'm looking for a mid-range smartphone and searching in Amazon, i found this ones:
Samsung galaxy Advance i9070
and
Sony Xperia P
both ander U$350,00, dual core, 4 inches screen and hope both going to update with ICS.
i would like to know yours opnion of which one are better, or if there is another one that I should consider to buy?
Right now I'm going with sony xperia P because of camera (8Mb x 5Mb) and design.
Thx in advance(not i9070) =)

I don't think the advance is a dual core...I belive it's a faster clocked I9000 Both are very good phones...I still use my I9000 now with Jelly Bean ...
Maybe look at the Samsung S2 or the google Nexus I9250 both are in your range.
Personally I would go for the I9250 because the upgrades are official and the screen real estate is 1280x720 which is very nice for reading webpages

hi , i have finally saved enough money to buy unlocked either xperia z or galaxy s4 , i have researched on gsm arena, cnet etc websites and all of them say the galaxy s4 has some good hardware and features and xperia z has awesome design but less features , i currently want the phone with the most developer support for custom roms and stuff , the problem is the galaxy s4's variant with quadcore is available here , can any person who has used both phones recommend which one is better ? no fanboyism please thanks :highfive:
I would take xperia z
Reasons
Snapdragon based... So sources are available and thus developer friendly..
Awesome looks
Water proof so u don't have to worry abt rains or toilets or tubs
Regarding s4 octa core...
Poor developer support... No sources... And belive me 8cores dun work SIMULTANEOUSLY
regarding quad core variant... A bit similar to xperia z ... And again snapdragon so MAY get good support...
My pick xperia z ...
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/...galaxy-s4-vs-sony-xperia-z-comparison-review/ says the battery is same but users here claim s4 has more battery life ? , tbh it doesnt bother me much even if XZ has a bit less battery life i think i will go with the xperia z thanks for the quick reply anyway.
Xperia z ftw! Simply because Sony is way more supportive to developers than any other oem out there

I bought the Arc s as in my opinion its the most stylish phone and good specs for my needs.
I was going to upgrade to the Z but it does not have a removable battery.
What happens if it freezes
Sorry, but I closed this thread. There are 2 threads devoted to questions about devices, please feel free to repost your question in one of these two threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1620179 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1846277

So what's the problem, mate?
The E3 has a fully grown up OS version. Probably will receive the 4.4 update, just like the dual-sim variant and it will be OK.
I don't understand all the hype surrounding the 5.0 version. Not even all the top-rangers from last year got the update.
They are still launching new models with Kit Kat on board.
Moving on from this point of view I've read a lot of threads regarding both official AND custom builds of 5.0 and in all these threads users are complaining about some serious memory management problems. Putting it clear the RAM management, at this moment, is worse on Lollipop than on Kit Kat. I have a friend with a LG G3, the version with 3GB RAM and after the update he also noticed that the memory management is worse.
So my true and sincere advice is to be happy with a fully optimized OS version than unhappy with a buggy-first-cycle-of-life version of the same OS which you will probably use just the same I have a SGS4, the I9505 version with Snapdragon 600 CPU which is scheduled to receive Lollipop but I'm not in a hurry to install it. Both the I9500 (Exynos) and I9506 (Snapdragon 800) variants of the SGS4 received it already and everyone reports lots of bugs. I'm not saying that Sony is above or bellow Sammy, but the OS is the same so the problems will be the same. And if you wonder what am I doing on this thread let me just say that I bought my father an E3 as a gift So I'm keeping a close eye on it :cyclops:
So don't worry and enjoy the phone because it's a perfect mid-ranger! Cheers and all the best :highfive:
Perfect mid-ranger with only 4GB of internal storage (whilst E4 comes with double that storage at 2/3 of the price of E3 + better front camera)? At least lollilop would solve the internal storage issue to some extend.

I dont,t think if we have ram problem lollypop will be usefull at all.as he told 3gig,s of ram had problem.
Storage is not an issue i have 7gigs of games on my sd with 1 gig free internel storage.
E4 is reallly lost everything from e3 e4 has super small datacable for charging. Fully crap.it,s like sony just reduced quality to make a low price phone. Even micromax had better phone than e4. And yellowness in display is worse thing. Just grab e3 instead of e4.
I reallly love sony for build quality. Which it lost in e4.
Don,t know why but i really think of samsung like micromax and other,s.

Excuse me, but can you name at least 5 apps or games that worked on 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and don't work anymore because of the OS update? And 4.0.4 is how old by now? I quote: "Release to manufacturing: October 19, 2011". Aham! That's like 4 years ago Think you going to keep the E3 for at least 4 years? In fact let me tell you that Xposed doesn't have a stable version on 5.0 yet. And that's a main reason for a lot of people not to upgrade to 5.0.

Every one have their own thinking Bro....all d best
So sad but is not the end!!
:crying: Guys, dont talk so fast!!!
Not necesarily we have bad luck.
Remember guys, there´s an AOSP development for mid and low range 2014 Xperia devices such as: E3, M2, T2 ultra, T3 and C3. That devices may receive lollipop through official or unofficial way after Z series.
I know you are going to say: AOSP is not a requirement for make a final and stable version. But, Why was the reason sony released an AOSP?
http://developer.sonymobile.com/kno...e/open-devices/list-of-devices-and-resources/
http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...ased-2014-xperia-devices-now-supported-video/
Even if is not lollipop for us, we can keep with kitkat, keeping on mind the highest KK stability compared with released 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 lollipop versions.
I know AOSP is bug filled, but some developers are working in that issues. Theres no CM12 stable version for Flamingo (E3) but @freexperia is working at least in LTE E3 devices.
Yesterday, Unofficial Xperia Blog reported some screenshots of Xperia C3 running something like lollipop in chinese market, but it may be fake
http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/0...enshots-emerge-could-it-be-landing-after-all/
And also, dont let intimidate by three or four tweets or android related blogs with the bad new. We should wait the official confirmation on Sony Xperia official blog.
BTW: if Sony really dont want update 2014 models and just update Z series and upcoming 2015 models, they will lose market quota. Sony is not good in the mobile market, forget the users and dont listen them can be a mistake for Kazuo Hirai´s company.
And here is the final comment: my next phone will be from motorola or another brand updateable, because Sony, LG, Samsung, Alcatel and others forgot low and mid range devices, thanks to the high fragmentation of the premise "Same but different"
People change its devices each two years, so, we never will get the latest version of android on any device, even if the device has infinite ram, processor and storage! Certainly the true is many people get/buy a low mid range instead a high and expensive flagship
We should support cyanogenmod or develop our android versions for stop programated obsolescence! Look, android versions rolling in the world: 2.3 4.0.X 4.1.X, 4.2.X 4.3.X 4.4X, 5.0.X. This is not fair for users!!! Android is doing bad, they should follow iOS example and keep updated even the legacy devices on all brands!!

Sony announced that the Non Z Mid range phones T2 Ultra and C3 will be getting the lollipop update officially soon... Though they said earlier that the update will be only available to the Z series... Sony is unpredictable, And as we all know that Our beloved Xperia E3 was released after both the devices... And has good configuration as both the devices... So chances are that maybe Sony will release Lollipop sooner or later for the owners of M2, E3 and other mid-range devices running Kitkat...

I agree here for not using aosp 5.x.x and cm12. biggest reason for not using aosp 5.x.x and cm12 should be it removes sony,s tweek,s which will cause loosing camera quality (mostly at dark places) loosing audio quality (mostly at outdoor) loosing battery life (mostly at a place with too much light or gaming)
So better use official lollypop. i love xperia UI it,s 10x better than kitkat UI.
