reinstall Android on Spice Mi 502 - General Questions and Answers

I rooted my phone to remove unwanted apps (without any backup for recovery) then I uninstalled some unwanted apps but I also removed Play store and email (miscrosoft activesync) mistakenly...
Is there any way i can reinstall these apps in my phone? Or should i reinstall the complete software?
I have downloaded an RAR file which looks like the software of this phone to me from Spice mobile website (si2imobility com >> product >> mi 502 >> support), but I don't know how to use it.
Has anyone got any experience in reinstallation of Spice Mi 502?
I am not a pro androider and have learnt everything through informative websites like this one.

installing an apk

ok, i have just done the v10d update and the video is much better...
Now id like to install an apk from my desktop of minidiary but it doesnt install..
Is that what rooting is for? to accept all apk's?
Sorry for the dumb question, i was a symbian s60v3 and s60v5 user..
Nope. To install apk's you just need to tell the phone to accept non-market items. Go to your phone's settings, then Applications and check the top option (should be called something like Unknown Sources, I have to translate from Dutch).
Then just copy the apk to your phome and use Polaris Office or a separate apk installer from the market to browse to the apk and install it.
Hello
I tried that and it didnt work, was not installed or something like that. I ticked it to accept non android market apps.
Its probably pirated i guess.. found it on the net. Does rooting make it accept all non-signed apps? What is root for?
Thanks
ps: does anyone know where i can download mini-diary. Great little app i saw in the galaxy s2
No, rooting gives you administrative access to some files which you normally don't have so you can customize the phone the way you like it.
The safest way to download applications is via the Market app on your phone (you can also try http://market.android.com). However if you don't want to pay for some apps then you can search google adding the ".apk" and the apk version in the search bar.

[Q] {HELP} Google Apps on unsuported phone

Hello guys,
I just got thi android phone from China, the model it is a jy131c - MT6515M.
It came with android 4.0.1, but wiht no google apps, I was looking at the internet and found it is because China and Google does not have a partnership.
I saw that there is some ways to have gapps on the device, but the main problem right now is that I can't root. I already try different methods:
SuperOneClick, Superuser app, z4root and some other chinese app, but none of them worked.
SuperOneClick: The software frezzes on the step 5 (wainting for the device)
Superuser app: nothing happens
Z4Root: nothing happens
Chinese apps: can't do it for some reason (reason it is in chinese, I cant read .
I heard there is a Cyanogenmod onyl for the google apps, but downloaded the lastest version but did not work:
The tutorial said, change the file to update.zip, install on the recovey mode, but I get invalid OTA package, missing scatter update.zip is not correct. Instaltion aborted.
Guys, I'm a nob on thid, can you help me in what should I do? Any one knows?

Unable to download a particual app even though I have the right Android os

Okay this has been bugging me out for a week now, I can't seem to download the Chiltern Railway app on to my Vodafone Smart 858, (Huawei U8160) it says when I try to download it it just says my device is not compatible ???
I was running The smart Lucky rom with no problems and I used to have the app on my phone, but my mate thought it would be okay to find a better rom for the phone, he didn't back up any of my apps or files and just wiped the phone, he couldn't get any of the roms to work probably, So I went back to the smart lucky rom, and proceded to reinstall my apps from Google play,
I am now using the Custom Rom LegDroid CM7 U8160 which works really well, and says the os is now 2.3.7,
So I don't understand why I can't download this Chiltern railway App, it even says the minimum system needed is 2.1
Does anyone have any idea to why I can't download the App?
What if I just copied the apk file from a friends phone, would I be able to install the app then?
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

[Q] Installing and re-installing android applications

When we download an application from Google Play Store, it downloads and then magically installs on the Android device.
But supposing we do a Factory Reset, or that we upload a new firmware or simply suppose we have another Android device at home and we would like the same application to be installed there too.
Is it possible to somehow maintain the installation files and be able to copy these files off the Android device and then use them on another device?
Yes. An app comes as an 'apk' installer file that can be transferred to another device and installed or re-installed on the same device. But to get the apks of apps installed via Playstore, you will need an app like "App Backup and Restore".
P.S. Sharing apks of paid apps is illegal and not recommended. :good:

I have this "App Backup" but I am trying to understand the mechanism a bit more.
The apk file is not the end of the story. Try the game "Yesterday". It is a 1GB download, however the .apk is only a few MBs and the rest is the actual game. However this 1GB file comes straight from the app store, so there is a mechanism that App Backup does not cover.
I managed to restore this game by saving the data myself, but every application is different.

Installing GAPPs suite on Honor 9 (Chinese Version) - NO ROOT NECESSARY

Hello alL,
I come to bring you good news. I have managed to install google play store and other Google Apps on the Chinese version of the Honor 9 (WITHOUT ROOT).
For anyone wondering, here are the steps.
1 - Download this file to your Honor 9.
2 - Decompress the zip file and install "Google Installer_2.0.apk". Don't touch the other files.
3 - Run this app (the newly installed one with the chinese name) and confirm using the Green button near the bottom.
4 - Confirm all prompts for authorisation, ensuring you select "Trust app" to give it full permissions. This will install the core "Google Play Apps Suite" as a user app, meaning that you will be able to uninstall "Play store" by simply dragging it to the top. See 1st screenshot.
5 - Check if Google Play Store has been installed and is working. If android complains about "Missing GMSs", reboot and try again. If still you have problems, try downloading "GMSInstaller apk" from an internet mirror of your choice.
See attached screenshots for proof that it works!
Great guide! Thanks for sharing. This is a safer way than rebrand, but rebrand will bring you a full Europe/US EMUI. You will not see any left-over Chinese characters.
The only downside is you'll be left with some Chinese letters here and there :/
But, it's easier than rebranding
Is there a lot of Chinese left so that it becomes difficult to use the phone? Or more like a minor nuisance? I'm currently in China and positively drooling at the local retail price but I've no access to a computer for rebranding.
Hi, I tried this procedure, I managed to install all the GApps but when I try to login or add google account the phone freezes for a moment and nothing happens. Same behavior on YT, while on Gmail and Play Store it still says "GMS Installer required". I guess that with a chinese phone you need to flash it anyway or it can't reach google servers. Am I right?

Hi,
I previously installed google services successfully using GMSinstaller when I first got my Honor 9 in August.
Now it is upgraded to B201 and because it always crashes when it comes to google play, I ran GMSinstaller again which asked me to uninstall every google related apps.
I did so but now it is impossible to install google again
GMS installer will only propose me to uninstall previously installed google apps, then reboot.
I tried several "Google Installer" including this one, none of them are working.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
It seems like this B201 update patches the GMS installer

I tried removing all the google stuff (framework, account manager, services, sync) then manually install each of them : still doesn't work.
Does anyone with B201 firmware succeed to install Google ?
Is it possible to downgrade without root/unlock ?
One thing I have not tried yet is reset to factory, If I do so I am wondering if a backup from HiSuite will restore everything...

After Factory reset, GMSinstaller worked again !
But my fear was confirmed : after restoring from HiSuite Backup, I lost some datas in my apps and also all my notes in the notes app
In the end got Google back, that's the most important !!
