I got a boost mobile one sv for my pop on boost mobile.
the fonts were too small and there did not seem a way to pick larger for him. so I installed font installer and installed a couple fonts alas on reboot I am stuck at the boost logo.
(the phone is rooted)
its not looping it just won't finish boot up. I booted into recovery wiped cache dalvik factory reset NO joy
any suggestions? is there a Jellybean rom without sense ie stock android (or heck with sense at this point) I can safely flash over?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
No stock Android around. I have made a stock odexed JB rom from a boost backup.
For flashing in recovery.
But it is untested as i don't own a boost phone. So you can call it a beta rom!!!
So if you want to try, i can give you the link. But for reasons above, on your own risk.
can't hurt to try so post away.
what is the most reliable "known good" jb rom as well Might as well download that too.
There is atm only one jb rom, but with some things buggy.
I'll send you the link by pm. If it works for you, i'll make it public.
downloading now. will let you know if it works or not. the phone was running ICS does that make a difference to installing this rom? can I just goto CWM recovery and install from zip ?
will not install. clockwork says error expects 3args, got 4 status 7 aborted
Ok, not good for the rom. If you wipe everything it would not matter, if you had ICS before.
So, here is another JB way: look into this thread here.
There you will find a cwm backup. Download and try to restore. Make sure, it is in the right place/folder.
Good luck.
no joy. says error while restoring boot img
I tried advanced restore system (figure do them one at a time) same thing just says error while restoring /system!
suggestions?
Have u tried flashing this Rom? https://www.dropbox.com/s/yubxxnw9lqe60nf/2013-07-19.01.57.24Stock_JB.rar

Did you ever get it resolved? If so, I am curious as to what procedures you needed to take? I have not had any trouble with Font Installer myself butiincase the time comes the info would be valuable as a plan a, b, c, etc. Thanks.

My buddy has the inspire 4g. He bought it rooted by somebody else. I've flashed cynogenmod for him aqnd several updates over the past few months. We are trying to flash new roms and its constantly aborting. Ive rooted my droids and always flash roms and never run into this problem.
He has the newest clockwork mod should we possible get a different recovery?
I don't do anything with flashing a new radio, is that necesary and whats causing the problem?
I am trying to flash core droid or revolution, he wants the best sense rom any suggestions?
I would appreciate any help. If there is no way to fix it I planned to totally reset and unroot and then root it myself and make sure everything is done right, does that sound right?

Though probably not necessary, the peace of mind that comes with knowing what's been done to the phone from the ground up might be worth it.
As for a fix to your current issue, please provide a little more detail as to the error.
It clears the cache and everything like that but it has a line that says installing update then the next line is installation aborted. That happens very quickly when I try to apply the update.zip

Is this the same SD card for every try? It might be a flakey SD card. Try a different card if you can.
I have several sd cards so will try the one I use. Am going over to help him in a few hours. Anyone have other suggestions? Should I be able to just flash a rom or do I have to flash a new radio also? <Because Ive only done cynogen on his which didnt have a radio.
Thanks again.

Radio is not usually flashed as part of the ROM. As long as you have a valid radio, it should work. If you somehow managed to get an invalid radio flashed, then you've have bigger problems that you indicate (i.e. hard bricked).
The fact that you can boot into recovery indicates that all it well with the device from that perspective. That leaves only the ROM zip to be flashed which is why I suggested trying a different SD card (since you tried several, it's not likely that you always got a bad download).
If it still messes up with a new SD card, try complete wipe, then format system from nandroid before running the update.zip. System partition doesn't get formatted during a complete wipe, but most ROMs should format it as a matter of course before installing. It's unlikely, but it could be a corrupt system partition which should clean up with a format.

Wanna Save yourself some time and maybe some future headaches? Like posted above It helps when you know what has been done. I would start from the ground up. Get back to a stock base and go from there, this way you are not trying to track down something you may not have done but was done before he got it.
As for your issue, If a radio is recommended then it will/should state so in the thread.
I have threads on how to root his inspire but can anyone forward a link of how to completely unroot and reset. When i reset in recovery it still keeps cynogenmod on.

There's no good reason to go through all that trouble. If you have S-OFF, then you're good to go as far as being rooted is concerned. Since you appear to have recovery too, then you're 95% rooted no matter what the current ROM is doing.
If you have S-OFF already, then going back to stock and rerooting is just going to waste time.

In cwm are you trying to "apply update from sdcard" or "install zip from sdcard"
install zip is what you want.... then choose the ROM. IF you're applying update.... it's gonna abort.
You could also try reflashing recovery in Rom Manager or flashing an older version of recovery.

I tried both ways and its aborts both ways. And Ive reflashed recovery in rom manager, should I maybe try a different recovery?
Since you are already rooted and having trouble flashing thru rom manager, why not try flashing to stock rooted thru bootloader? It's my understanding that attn1's Ace_Cingular_US rom will automatically do a full wipe and take you to the latest stock rom and radio. If that works, then you can install the latest rom manager and flash a custom rom. It's worth a shot.

It's not gonna hurt. it sounds like the recovery is having issues with the script so it's aborting... an older recovery may resolve that issue.
But that's a good idea also... flash the lastest stock rooted ROM thru hboot. Then reflash recovery. see If that don't solve it

Can you post what rom you are using right now, as well as what recovery version.
Also, what rom are you trying to flash ? You are rooted, right ?
If you can post some more details - am sure people will chime in

I'm running stock 4.0.4, Rooted, Clockworkmod recovery. I have tried to flash several different roms. Romswell, AOKP, CM nightlies thru ROM manager. all of them fail in recovery. I flash stuff all the time on my SIII so I'm not really a Noob to flashing and what not, but I can't figure this one out. Thanks for any help.
What are you using for recovery? When you say failed what is the error message? Sounds like you should prolly reflash a current official recovery. If by failing you mean it hangs on first boot then your not wiping system before flashing. Factory reset and wipe system before you flash.
Are you by chance running any scripts for sd card swap, etc ?
I am running this script, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961097 which swaps my 32GB external sd for the internal sd, which runs great - no issues, except with rom manager and flashing from recovery.
I have to go back and de-activate the script, reboot, and then dowload - or transfer file from PC, and it flashes without issue
Otherwise, I have had no flashing issues of any kind - using CWM 6.0.1.5 for the p3113
Good luck,
Bill

Then i flashed gingerbread (odin)- phone turned on everything worked
Afterwards i rooted it (super one click)- it worked

Flashed antonx kernel for gb
when i tried to install cm9 it didnt work i checked logs and got this (im using cmr 6.0.1.2)
I: Cant partition unsafe device: /dev/block/mmcb1k0p
I:Cant format unknown volume :/external_sd
I: cant format unknown volume: /emmc
Any ideas?
Also i was trying to do this
flash froyo + everything from hawk
Flash gingerbread
root
get sgs kernel flasher

And yes i know what phone i have.. sgs4g (sgh-t959v)

That's will work as long as the recovery is CWM 5.x or later. You used to have to flash CM7 first but I'm pretty sure Team Acid fixed it in the new CM9 build. Just check the MD5 of that zip you where trying to flash. Those errors are very strange and I'm thinking you might have accidentally gotten the wrong CM9.

You can try to restore it. If it's the same version of CWM that you backed up from it should work. Just do all the wipes including system and data before you restore. If that doesn't work for some reason just flash CM10 than do an advanced restore of data only.
Works
ok it works... cid kinda scares me
I guess im going to restore my cm10 backup then...

Ahh
Ok so i found out that when i flashed kc1 to kc6 on odin i left the repartiton checked... so some files were missing and i guess that was the problem... what is phone efs clear on odin again? isnt it have to do with something with celluar communications
ok everything is back to normal (except a few apps) And thanks for helping out!
Some apps don't restore. Like xda for example. If I restore a backup it will say app not installed. When I reDL it from Play all my settings are still there though. So it's saving the cache and not the app. I've never really cared enough to look into it. lol
I have an ATT HTC One X 2.20 Hboot 1.14 using twrp 2.4.1 and have been trying to install roms but continue to have an issue with the MD5 file. I have followed the instructions about flashing the boot.img of CM10 but it seems no matter what I do, it can't find the MD5 and says it is skipping MD5. I know just enough not to get out of a bootloop but I am quite new to this. The one odd thing I see is when I go to mount my phone in order to copy the CM10 zip file into the phone, the options I get are different than others I see online: Mount System (unchecked), Mount Data,(unchecked), Unmount Cache (checked), Unmount SD Card (checked). Any help would be awesome.
quick update; same problem
SWell, going through some of other posts and videos, I tried using goo manager to download the CM 10 zip file. But Im still stuck on boot loop. And it still says that the MD5 file was not found. I used the onexroot.com tutorial to root my phone and have superuser and twrp. Not sure what else to try. Ideas on other stable JB roms I could try? Thanks again.
In TWRP, when you install the ROM, do you have the option checked to force MD5 checked?

I'm pretty sure I do. I have always left it unchecked. Should I check it and try again?
I've always left it unchecked (no MD5 check). If its a bad download, all that will happen is the phone will get stuck on boot, anyway.
I'd go into TWRP, and see if its checked or not. And if so, uncheck and try to flash again.
Update: No Luck
I just tried wiping system, factory reset, and cache, flashing the cm10 boot.img and then installing the CM10 zip file and checking the force MD5 and then the entire process and unchecking the force MD5 and with both attempts I get right back to the same issue. All I can say is that I'm so thankful that I created a backup in twrp. I've restored my phone at least 20 times today, haha. Learning is definitely a process. Ill take any more ideas.
Download the ROM again, may just be a bad download.
Will try
I will try to download the rom again from the CM website. If I were to try another rom (viper xl), the process should be the same correct? Thanks for the help.

Put the ROM on your SD.
Boot into hboot, go into TWRP
In TWRP, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik
Install ROM
Reboot
ViperXL should flash boot.img in AROMA, although its not foolproof. If the phone doesn't boot (may take about 5 min first time), then flash boot.img using fastboot.
For most ROMs, you will need to flash boot.img manually. ViperXL is one of the few exceptions (also CleanROM 5.1, I think).
Still no luck
I just tried aokp JB 4.1 with no luck. I do everything I've been told or that I have read on these forums (copy zip to SD, flash boot image, install rom...) but i continue to get the same problem: MD5 not found, skipping MD5 and so on. If anyone has any ideas I'll be happy to give any other info needed. At this point I have a rooted phone but cannot install roms. Argh!
He's not the only one. I'm on viper 3.2.3 but when trying to flash any Rom based off of AOSP or anything similar I bootloop. Yes I flash the boot.img then the Rom to no avail . I started a thread in this department called weird problem if the OP would like to take a look there.

you dont check any md5 checking for custom roms in twrp
you only rom i know of that you will have a md5 without anything selected is evervolv 4.2 i found a fix where you copy the CERT.SF from evervolv 4.1 to evervolv 4.2 and it will install and boot.
also always remember to "fastboot flash boot boot.img" if you are on hboot 1.14 or newer. if you going changing from sense to aosp always do full wipes no matter what. never factory reset in bootloader.
Yes I've done this countless times as I was on jellybam before going to jokers sense 4+ Rom then viper . I know the processes but something is wrong.

I hate websites like that one. They just ripoff content from XDA, repackage it, and give little or no credit to the actual developer or XDA.
Stupid question, your bootloader is unlocked, right? In bootloader, it says UNLOCKED?
It must, for you to have TWRP. But it doesn't hurt to cover all the possibilities.
So I rooted my brother's infuse 4G because it was slow as sin and needed A. a data/cache wipe and B, I wanted to give him Jellybean
I followed all the instructions I could; rooted, installed the modded 3e (or thought I did), got a CWM installed afterwards, and then set about installing first CM9 (as the Jellybean ROM post says I should) followed by the actual ROM and its Gapps. Well, I installed CM9 (although it seemed to take all of 30 seconds, rather fast...) when I tried to wipe data/factory reset, CWM froze. I rebooted and from then on I had it softbricked. Stuck booting at the samsung logo, and when I tried to return to the recovery, the recovery was a garbled mess that looked like a scrambled TV channel. I used Heimdall and did the one-click reset to stock, and here I am. The phone boots to stock just fine, but my recovery is still completely boned.
Do I re-root? How do I install CWM again without being able to install 3e? (can't install 3e without a working recovery in the first place, after all..)
One anomaly of note - when I was going about all this, booting the phone into recovery always got me 3e, even after installing CWM. I had to manually install CWM by using an update.zip and "reinstall packages" every time I wanted to use CWM. ROM manager would boot me to CWM, but it took several reboots and a flashable CWM zip before I could even get CWM installed in the first place - ROM manager refused to do it the easy way.
What did I do wrong, and more importantly, how do I get back on track? What do I do to put a fixed recovery back on this thing? Odin? ADB?
Today was the first time I ever used Heimdall, I've been a fair weather flasher since the beginning, I've never had to ADB or Odin.
It sounds like you didn't install cwm recovery properly, but I'm not sure I've never ran into this problem before. If you go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081 and carefully read over the first and second post you should end up with gb and red cwm recovery. The way I've done it was to put the phone in dl mode and flash the first package (the stock gingerbread att rom). After it is installed and booted up, I then power it off and go back into dl mode. Then flash the second package, which is just the kernel and red cwm recovery, (be patient because it takes awhile). Once that is done then go into recovery and wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe system, and install cm9. I think it only installs the kernel and recovery the first installation after formatting and creating the partitions, but after its done you have to go through the menus and tell it to reboot. After it reboots it will be stuck at the cyanogenmod galaxy s logo, so you will have to go into recovery once more. When you're there you should have blue cwm (only continue if you do) and install jb, without actually having to install the full cm9. When you navigate to which ever jb rom you want to install, a prompt will appear stating that there is incompatible partition layout and to confirm installation you will have to reselect the jb zip again to install. It will flash pretty quick because at this point its doing the same thing as when you went from gb to cm9 and only installs the kernel, recovery, and reformat/creates the partitions, (I think). It will reboot on its own but it will take you back into recovery. At this point all you have to do is navigate to the same jb zip you want to install and flash it, followed by gapps, and then reboot system. This process has worked for me but I highly recommend reading and following the instructions given in the post above.
Use goo.I'm app. Also you need to flash GB bootloaders in Odin . is recovery all colorful? If you see recovery fine just get goo app on play store and install a recovery
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I would go the ODIN route, I have bricked so many times because i try to make the impossible possible. Just search for a already rooted pda,mdr file. I skipped the cm9 part idk if that would make things better or not but as my post says im a risk-taker
One thing I'd like to point out, flashing to ICS from GB requires 2 flashes. First flash sets the new partitions. You reboot and pull the battery, then boot back into recovery and reflash with the gapps.
That was the first problem I saw, and now commenting while on the Nexus I can't see the OP so that's all I'll comment on.
