[Q] I can't hear voices over the ear piece - HTC Sensation

When someone calls me I can no longer hear their voice clearly over the phones ear piece speaker. The voice volume is very low and raspy or staticy. However, if I use headphones or a Bluetooth headset, I can hear voices just fine. I think the problem even effects speaker phone and some loud notifications too. I read that the fix could be a different radio or ril. I really don't want to buy a new part for this old phone, in hoping it's a software issue since I'm a flashaholic and I might have screwed up between roms.

Did you try changing your ROM? If that doesn't work, you can try flashing another radio (with caution).
However, if non of this works, it might be hardware related.

Thanks for replying... as a flashaholic, i've tried several roms but i dont think the radio is changed. Where could i find radios that match my firmware and service provider?

terrible echo during calls

Hi,
I got the XDA Diamond Pro (Touch Pro O2 germany) yesterday.
During a call, the phone generates a terrible, slightly timeshifted echo of the own voice. The voice of the other person is normal and the other person doesnt hear an echo. I have tried it several times with different persons and networks (mobile + landline)...always the same phenomenon...sometimes more or less.
Is this normal with the Touch Pro? Do you also have this echo while making a call?
regards
10mabo
(sorry, my english is probably not the best)
Nobody with the same problem? Are your Touch Pros without echos?
No prob for me. Never heard something similar. What about your signal strength? Do you have good reception?
No problem here aswell.
tried a hard-reset already? I noticed that my TP worked better after I did a hard-reset (more stable and quicker), dunno why though.
Thank you for the replys!
So it seems that my device is not working properly :-(
It´s already on the way back to the provider.
regards
Holy crap! I just got another exchanged fuze and it's having the same issue. I'll try flashing to a new rom and see if that works.
When I first got the phone I noticed that my voice would echo but it stopped happening on its own. I think it was occurring because of bad reception. At that time my phone was having major problems with the data connection also and I figured it had something to do with ATT's towers.
I have experienced this echo, too, but considered it to come from reception problems as it does not happen on a regular basis. I.e. some calls are experiencing this echo, some do not.

I assume you mean flashing another radio rom, right? I have this issue on my Fuze as well. I flashed to NATF's rom, but am still running the stock radio rom that came with my phone: 1.02.25.32.
Did a different radio rom help you??

I changed my radio to 1.08.25.20, but I still have the echo. Do you think this is a hardware or software issue? Thanks!

I had the same problem I think with mine. It went away after a while when I was using NATF v2.2 but then when I flashed to v2.3 it came back. This was because the incall volume went down. So increase the volume when you're in a call and that should fix it.
I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but the same thing has happened to me with both the Fuze and the Tilt. What I think the issue was though was that there was a slight lag between the time I said something and the time the sound came out of the earpiece on the other phone. The other phone's mic would pickup the sound of my voice and send it back to me. Very annoying. The problem was always solved when the person I was talking to switched to headset.
Same issue
I am experiencing the same issue, but it does seem to come and go depending on the in-call volume settings.
Obviously, no problems on speakerphone, which I use frequently.

I just switched away from NATF v2.3 to aruppenthal's ver2 final ROM and the echo has cleared up! Thought I'd share in case others want to try...

Random AutoRedial with HD2 with Headphones plugged in.

The current FM Radio App is really bad on the HD2 and it does not help that the FM hardware within the HD2 is so bad also.
In my case for some bizzare reason the FM Radio randomly when i am listening to the radio will start to dial the last dialed number.
However does anybody know of any other FM Radio software for the HD2? PowerRadio does not work with HD2.
Thanks,
Rishi
Hey, the 'randomly dials last number' bug is posted here on the forums and is known. What model earphones are you using when this happens? From what I gather from another thread this is due to 'bad' contact on the 3.5mm plug which has said to happen especially with certain brands of earphones.
I, however, had this bug when I had the HD2 plugged into my car's stereo via a simple 3.5 to 3.5mm aux cable. I haven't had this since upgrading my rom from stock, though.
(this happens with any audio btw, in my case Sense Music player, not FM radio)
Would you be able to state which ROM and earphones/headset you're using?
EDIT: Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637502&highlight=HD25 .
I am using the 24th April 2010 219XX EnergyROM. It has also happened in all other Energy ROMs
However the headfones are very cheap quality and this could be the problem. Will change them across for another set of headfones and get back. Thanks for your help.
Any other good FM Radio Apps for the HD2?
From what i see on other threads, different ROMs and different headfones does not seem to make the problem go away 100%... its a bit of a hit and miss.

I spoke to an HTC UK Escalations Manager (Mike B) today who claims that HTC UK have never head of this and as he was the escalation's manager he would be the first to know.
Its clear that many people have reported this to HTC UK via the website but HTC simply chooses to ignore it.
I have forwarded this Thread's link to him so that he understands that there are a lot of people with this problem and hence simply claiming not to know about it is not the answer.
I have this problem on the Stock Rom too.
If you have reported this to HTC, can you kindly paste your Ticket Number here. This way the Escalation manager will know that there are a number of calls into HTC that he as the escalations manager has somehow missed. And that his statement of HTC has not had any such reports is incorrect.

[Q] Route Call Through Headphone Jack

I have tried searching for the solution to my problem with no luck.
I have a rooted Inspire 4G. With the stock radio and ROM, whenever I had my headphones or my 3.5mm audio cable plugged into my phone, I could use the headphones or my vehicle's speakers for phone calls (like bluetooth). I also could hear my notification sounds (text, email) through the headphones or speakers as well. Since I have rooted my phone and changed radios and ROMs, I no longer have this capability - the calls and notifications go through the crappy phone speakers. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or noticed the difference.
FYI - I have checked the call settings (Settings->Call) and nothing helps. I have read about HAC/TTY settings from the stock ROM/radio, but these options don't show up in the Rom I am using. I was wondering if maybe those settings made the difference and if there was a ROM or a mod that can access those settings.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
I've flashed many many roms and have never encountered that problem. By default, it should automatically switch to headphones once you plug in the jack.
I would suggest flashing a different rom ...such as the BB Mod rom or Absolution (both are aosp roms).
Or if you prefer the stock look with sense, try Cleardroid.
I believe any of these will solve your problems ...unless its maybe hardware related (bad jack) ?
If you decide to switch & try another rom...don't forget to wipe, so you can get started fresh.
Good Luck to you.

Yea I've flashed plenty as well and I've never run into this problem. Sounds are routed to whatever is plugged into 3.5 jack

Most likely is an issue with the ROMs because after I posted this, I flashed the Revolution HD 6.1.5 ROM (w/ the 12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M radio) and the notification/call sound is heard through the 3.5mm jack as in the stock ROM/radio. Previously I was using the CoreDroid 8.1 and GB 2.3.5 Sense 3.0 ROMs with two different radios (12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 and 12.59.60.26P_26.11.04.21_M).
So I can't exactly pinpoint what the cause was because I (stupidly) changed two items - though I could reflash one or the other with the new radio and see if that made a difference - but I would bank on the ROMs being the problem since the both of you have not experienced this problem with the ROMs you use.
Thank you both for your input.
Radio would have no effect on this. Sometimes you just have a bad installation. This is why myself and others always make sure people know how to properly wipe their phones and then tell them to re install before validating a problem as an actual bug.

Gizmoe, I understand that there are a lot of people who don't research and don't follow directions when flashing ROMs, so I can understand the tone of your comment. I actually do a full wipe every time I flash a ROM, upgrade or not. And before I posted this, I tried reinstalling and researching the problem. I admit that I am new to all this, so it was more of a lack of knowledge about how ROMs and radios work than ignorance because I try searching out the answer before posting.
Anyhow, I did determine the cause of my problem, and it was not ROM-related. It's actually my setup in my truck. Because I don't have an aux jack, I have to use an FM transmitter. My previous transmitter died a couple of weeks back, and I got a new (presumably better) one. I can adjust it between stereo and mono, and I had it on mono because of interference/static issues.
As I found out yesterday, having it on mono plugged into my phone, it will only transmit music and navigation to my stereo. Phone calls and notification sounds don't get transmitted. However, when I switch it to stereo, all sounds get transmitted to my stereo.
So problem solved - non ROM issue. Somewhat user error issue.
I wasn't doggin on ya . Although I can see how it could be read that way. It was late and I was responding to many threads. It was just a general statement to anyone reading, cause people have been getting fussy when I ask to clarify their install process so I can get the whole picture of exactly what they are doing. People seem so sure its a bug when in fact it was something they did wrong. Though that is not the case here and I can tell you get it a lot better than most people.

Sensation XE strange microphone problem

Hi all! I've been facing a very strange problem on my sensation XE since August.
The microphone doesn't work; let me explain better:
1-when recording with any app, I hear much noise (Google Now can't detect speech for example). I can hear my voice in the recording, but it's covered by noise.
2- Mic in call doesn't work at all. Well, I can hear my voice coming out from MY (!) speaker. The phone just sends noise to the other end.
The mic has worked correctly only for three days in October, then nothing more. If I plug Beats headphones with microphone, everything works ok using the external mic.
Things I tried: all sorts of wipe, different kinds of rom (Sense based, aosp, GB, ICS, JB), reinstalling firmware, stock RUU, ecc). I am currently on bruce2728's CM10.
Anyone got an idea? I couldn't find anyone having the same symptoms.
Thanks in advance
If everything is working fine with an external mic, then I am pretty sure it's a hardware failure.. Your phone's internal mic is damaged and need to be replaced.
Beamed from my beloved HTC Sensation using xda premium
At first i thought so, but what makes me wonder is that, during calls, the mic works! Just it sends output to my speaker and not to the other end,but without noise. So I believe it's some kind of strange software problem

i have the same same problem with rockyjacky..however, my problem is far way worst because people can't hear me when they called me..the only time they can hear me is when i am the one who is calling them..i have tested to make calls to see whether they are joking or something but the thing is, the problem is real..it is like my mic is been muted.
i think it is not a hardware problem since they can hear me when i called them..so, can anybody explain why such thing to happen?they cannot hear me when they are the one who are calling me.

[Q] Microphone driver for HTC Sensation

Hi,
I've got a HTC sensation, which I have rooted and is now running Bruce's CM10. The problem with my phone is that some of the time the microphone doesn't function. This was already a problem under the offical firmware and one of the reasons I switched to CM. This may be a hardware problem, but i'm not sure. The (headset)microphone works if i plug in the headset and it does work some of the time without the headset. Once I experienced a spontaneous cutoff of the microphone during a call.
What I'm looking for is the driver/apk which controls the microphone to flash it. Does anyone have this, or know where to get it?
Greetings,
Martijn

Everything you mentioned points out that your phone (mic) is broken, if you got same bug on Sense and AOSP, and if it works over Headphones mic just fine thats just another pointer..
Flash STOCK RUU and check once more if you got MIC problems and if yes send phone to HTC for repairs..

I opened the case and started to see if I could remove the mic, before ordering a new one. This was enough to make it work again (so far). Possibly some part had moved around.
