Thoughts on current TW based roms. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

The reason for purchasing this phone was the mhl option. Was not really thinking that this option was not something available in non touch wiz based ROM's... My I337M is Rogers branded (bootloader unlocked), rooted and I am using TWRP.
Was wanting suggestions on TW based ROM's compatible with Canadian devices with working mhl. Honestly I hate touch wiz... It just feels too... Non Android???
Any one else out there in a simaler situation wanna chime in? Which TW rom are Canadians using and why kinda thing?

[Q] Opinions on PacMan Rom? (And Others)

Hi everyone, I'm sorta new to Android and rom-flashing, so here are my questions:
Baseline Question: Which ROM is the best: Cyanogenmod, Paranoid Android, or AOKP?
So, I obviously googled this question and the same answer I keep getting is that each rom delivers a different user experience and that the answer depends on the person and that you should just try out each one. But recently I came to know of Pacman Rom, which claims to encompass all three of these roms (and more)...so now for my real question.. It seems super awesome that Pacman Rom encompasses all three of these roms, but if it's so good, why isn't everyone on it already? Meaning, is there any reason that I'm missing as to why some people prefer to stick to a particular one instead of this awesome-seeming rom? Just curious as to whether I should flash this or stay with Cyanogenmod.
I can imagine reasons like Pacman Rom may not be available for as wide a range of phones, etc., but any other reasons for why or why not? Thanks in advance guys!
My Phone Currently: Samsung Galaxy S3 T-999 4.1.2 Cyanogenmod 10.1

The answer to this is really the same as your original question
"So, I obviously googled this question and the same answer I keep getting is that each rom delivers a different user experience and that the answer depends on the person and that you should just try out each one."
It's all personal taste and personal wants/needs. I suggest you read through the thread for the ROM in your device section and if it looks appealing to you then flash it and try it out. If you don't like it, you can always go back to what you were using or try out something else

List of Touchwiz ROMs for S3?

Hello. I recently got brave enough to root my Verizon S3. I used Casual and it worked fantastic. Now, I'm looking to run a custom ROM. I tried a ton of different ROMs on my old Captivate, my wife's old Infuse, my Galaxy Pad 10.1, and Asus Transformer Infinity. So one thing I know is that I don't like AOSP. I want to stay with Touchwiz.
I've been browsing the development forums looking at ROMs. For some ROMs it's easy to tell if it's AOSP or Touchwiz. For others, not such much. So I was wondering if there was a list of Touchwiz based ROMs, or if maybe one could be created?
Just off the top of my head:
Bonestock
Jellybeans
Hyperdrive
MOAR
There are many others but the original post in each thread will indicate if it is or not. Look for 4.1.2, or the build number, ie. MF1.

It will have be created it wouldn't take you only have to list the roms with mb1/mf1 firmware as its base.

RECRUITING for ATT HTC ONE PORT TO S4 DATA FIX

I have gained permission from geti (the maker of the international port of HTC one rom to the s4) as we all know we can run gt i9505 roms on our ATT galaxy s4s unfortunately data doesn't seem to work on our variant and it is confirmed working for the international version I would like to assemble a team of devs to fix the data issue on our device also wifi does not seem to work either most likely this is a kernel issue and as I don't have time to build all on my own id like to extend an offer to all the devs on here to help bring Data Sound and Wifi to our Devices hopefully we can have a working port soon thanks for all the help in advanced
here's a link to the original thread from I 9505 port u can flash it and test it using loki doki

Would love to see this progress more for the i337.
Why are so many people so happy to have an HTC Sense ROM on their Galaxy phones. Why not just buy an HTC phone instead?
Not trying to be a troublemaker. Just kind of wondering.
Are these folks who don't like AOSP & TW but are Samsung hardware lovers, or is there something super-duper special about Sense.

I love HTC. My first android was HTC dream (hope you have a good rest in the landfill).
But no microSD slot I a major killer for me.

My first was an evo 4g after I came over from the dark side. Sense was my first Android experience. I do think htc and Sammy cross ports are great. Having options is never a bad thing.

For me, I love the look of sense, but I prefer samsung phones because they are the only one with removable backs, SD card slots, and believe it or not, I love the plastic feel. So yes, I am one of those people. Sense on a s3 or s4 Is awesome. Am not trying to be a trouble maker either. Just answering the question. I mean, maybe it HTC didn't put a 4 megapixel camera on the HTC one, then people wouldn't want sense on their s4.

So what about the camera then?
The code would be written for that special HTC camera and not the more "normal" Samsung camera.
to reply to all of your questions 1 AN HTC sense port gives us just another option for those of us who lack funds to stock up on the latest premium phones every 3 months for instance i was faced with the dilema of HTC 1 vs GS 4 and i picked the s4 for its megapixels and expandable memory but that does not change the fact that HTC sense is a beautiful rendering of the Android operating system the hardware in HTC one is what pushed me towards the s4 but why cant we have both via a port plus no one ever said no to having more roms lol
About this rom in regards to S4 i337 ATT variant
this rom is bootable on our i337's just flash and LOKI which is great camera works via 3d party apps also great TEXTS are received and sent and calls are also received
what isn't working is
SOUND
Data
SD Card
WIFI

Because people have personal preference, desires, likes, etc... And want to do whatever they want with their device? Why are you so happy with the music you listen to that other people may not? Lol. I'd love to see a sense ROM on Samsung devices in the future. It's a complete change in manufactured OS. More variety, more to toy with, more to switch back and forth to and from. IMO, sense 5 is pretty cool and I'd use it before TW for sure. But I'm also satisfied with TW in my Note 3. Not so much on the S4 stock as it lags. In the end it's all preference. I've seen people say that their stock S4 hasn't the tiniest bit if lag while my first, second, third and fourth S4 all lagged equally on every TW ROM.

Sense vs GPE

Has anyone tried running both Sense and the GPE ROM for any length of time? Any deal breakers with the GPE ROM. I have read through most of the forum over there, but I'm not allowed to post in development forums so I wanted to see if anyone could provide any feedback on the GPE ROM. I used to have the Thunderbolt but grew sour of Sense after a while. Now I'm pretty much over any manufacturer UIs like Blur, TouchWiz, Sense, etc. I'm looking for the pure android experience I get with my Nexus 7, but Nexus isn't available on Verizon so a GPE version of the HTC One M8 seems like about the best thing to try. Any thoughts on how this ROM works?

GPE is essentially pure AOSP. just comes with google apps etc. I personally love it, I just came over from the galaxy s4 a few days ago where I was running the GPE rom there and it was my favorite rom ive ever ran on any phone. I haven't used sense in so long im enjoying it right now, still running stock rooted s-off with xposed, but when I do start roming ill prolly just go straight to GPE.
I'll stick with sense IMO, many more features, very fast , and unparalleled functionality.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app
I've used the GPE rom for a few days and the sense based roms as well. In my experience it seems the GPE needs a custom kernel because there are a few things not working properly, the camera for example, and the overall experience is sluggish compared to the sense based roms. Stick with anything sense based right now, run a different launcher, and use xposed, that combo is killer and you get all the speed you can handle. Give the GPE a few more weeks and it'll probably be in full working order, at which time I'll definitely be going to it. So nice having a clean rom that was explicitly made for this phone from the manufacturer.
GPE isnt as good as some ASOP roms IMO. I typically run SlimKat, but there are many more out there.

Might get an M8vzw soon, wanna see how development is

So I had planned to stick with my old d2vzw (Verizon S3) through next year, but I think it just physically died on me. So I may need to upgrade way, way sooner.
The M8, I believe is the only phone on Verizon currently capable of flashing AOSP based ROMs. Can anyone chime in with how development is?
I've seen Liquid (my fav) and a GPE port are on this forum, but I don't see anything else. How is the ROM selection overall?
I can't leave Verizon, not an option. I hate them so ****ing much.
I am loving the GPE rom. Haven't had any issues at all.
There's a lot more roms available than just the ones you see on the VZW M8 forum. Check out the development forums on the regular M8 forum. Most of them work on Verizon but you need to read to make sure a given rom works on Verizon phones.

There's plenty of roms and tweaks available for the m8. I personally recommend it. I'm using the viperone Rom which is my fav as of right now.
HTC ONE M8?
LiquidSmooth, CleanROM, Vanir, AOKP, CM, BadSeed, InsertCoin, Viper, GPE, SlimROM, Pac-Man, Paranoid Android, etc. The usuals are all present and accounted for.

M8 is not the only vz phone that has AOSP ROMs available, G2, Moto X for an example. just have to look.
I've always been partial to CM myself. Love the M8, by far the best phone ever IMHO. I've used gpe port and viper but keep going back to cm.
If you want to get into development, I've never seen any project as well documented as cm. Their wiki can take any noob and have them building from source in just a couple hours.
