This is the first guide and the first rooting EVER for THL W9 based on MTK6589T chipset by MEDIATEK.
Also this will guide you to fully customize and apply fixes and mods to the official THL W9 ROM.
What you need:
a. PC or laptop in good working condition.
b. USB cable for THL W9 (micro usb) in perfect condition.
c. Some knowledge on ADB and Rom Customization.
d. Patience.
ATTENTION: THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND YOU PROCEED WITH YOUR OWN RISK.
THIS CAN PERMANENTLY DESTROY YOUR DEVICE. I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR LOSS OF DATA.
SECTION A - IF YOU HAVE THE INTERNATIONAL ROM AND WANT TO ROOT.
1. Turn W9 off , wait for the vibration. Take off the battery, wait 5 seconds and put it back.
Plug usb cable to pc and install usb drivers when asked. (You might need to plug-unplug multiple times to get the driver right) - Driver on MEDIATEK official site or elsewhere.
You might also need ADB working (not sure about this). follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272266
2. Download (from internet) and run eroot v1.3.4. Link: http://www.runamux.net/search/view/file/9fLmV0ty/ERoot-1014.html
Boot W9 to Android and enable USB Debugging. Run eroot (with admin privileges) and IF everything is ok you have to see Thl W9 recognized by eroot.
Click Root. You have to get 4 ticks. Unplug usb, close eroot.
3. Check root - install superuser - busybox.

OR
Enable usb storage mode and copy to SD card the following APK files:
BusyBoxPro v9.9.
SuperSU v1.32
Root Explorer v3.1.1
Root Checker Pro v.1.2.8
You can find those on internet or xda forums. Install everything and run everything.
On root check pro you have to see green text when you press verify Root and BusyBox.
On root explorer you can access root and make it ro->rw (read only, read write).
ROOT IS DONE!
SECTION B - IF YOU HAVE THE OFFICIAL CHINESE ROM WITH NO GOOGLE APPS OR ACCIDENTLY INSTALL THE official CHINESE ROM AND WANT TO GO BACK.
1. Be sure that your rom is in good working condition with no errors.
Otherwise maybe is better to flash official rom again. Language only CN,EN.

If you have the international ROM and want to root, please go to section A.
2. PERFORM TASK 1 ON SECTION A.
3. DOWNLOAD SP FLASHTOOL OR BIRDA FLASH TOOL and official Rom THL W9. BirdA Flash tool included in rar file.
4. Select proper scatter file (specific for official chinese rom) and click download button on flash tool.
Turn Off and remove battery from W9. Wait 5 seconds and put back. Plug USB cable.
Flash tool should detect W9 and start to load... The process will end with a green circle small window. Unplug USB and turn W9 ON.
5. When boot go to settings and language & input. First option is language, switch to English. (Go with symbols because on first boot you got chinese)
6. Perform TASK 2 & 3 of Section A to ROOT W9.
7. Now you have to remove chinese apps. There is no specific way to do it, but the main idea is here:
a) uninstall everything you can from settings->apps.
b) disable everything you can from settings->apps->all. (Be careful to recognize what is chinese and not android's processes)
c) use Root app Delete application to remove unwanted chinese apps. (this is useful when attached to Android system) found on internet or xda forum.
8. Make it Google.
Extract apk files from gapps.zip. download here: http://goo.im/devs/UniqueDroid/gapps/gapps-4.2.1
I notice that google tts conflicting with existing. dont copy this.
Copy the files to your sd card,
Use Root Explorer installed on step 6, and move this apk files from sd card to root/system/app.
Restart. This will install all Google Files and you have to be able to google login, with google services etc.
9. Install extra apk files:
Playstore 4.3.11, maps7.0.0, googletts3.1, googlesearch 2.1.12.516912, youtube4.2.16 from APK files.
Download from internet or xda forums.
If you want to remove THL Stock lockscreen, you can use Holo Locker from play store.
If you ever had the error text to speech has stopped, then go to settings, language and input and under Text to speech select PICO TTS.
GPS FIX
------------
This is for anyone having GPS Issues. Recommended for everyone
Before you start the procedure you need:
1. You HAVE TO BE ROOTED on any ROM (section A)
2. Get Mobileuncle Tools from play store
3. Get GPS Test from play store
4. Get Root explorer from play store (you might have it from previous steps)
Procedure should be done outdoors:
1. Turn GPS off on your phone.
2. Open Root Explorer and find the mtkgps.dat file in /data or /data/misc
3. Delete mtkgps.dat
4. Reboot phone
5. Open Mobileuncle Tools
6. Tap on 'Engineer Mode'
7. Tap on 'Engineer Mode (MTK)'
8. Scroll across to 'Location'
9. Tap on 'Location Based Service'
10. Tap on 'AGPS' and then make sure 'A-GPS On/Off' is checked
11. Tap on 'EPO' and then make sure 'Enable EPO' is checked
12. Swipe down (notification bar) and turn GPS on
13. Hit back and then tap 'YGPS'
14. Wait until you get position lock (mine took about 5 seconds).
15. This process should create a new mtkgps.dat file.
16. Hit home button and open GPS Test.
17. You should get a position lock reasonably quickly.

PRO:
1) THE USER INTERFACE IS VERY FAST,AND IT LOOKS VERY GOOD,IT HAS NICE ANIMATIONS AND EVERYTHING RELATED TO THIS.
2)THE CAMERA IS IMPOROVED.YOU NEED TO REDUCE THE EXPOSURE A BIT IN ORDER TO GET FULL SMOOTHNESS BUT THAT'S IT.IT JUST HAS MORE DETAIL THAN 4.2.2.
3)NO BLOATWARES,NOTHING.YOU CHOOSE WHAT TO INSTALL,HOW TO PERSONALIZE YOUR PHONE.
4)ALL THE CM11 FEATURES AND CUSTOMIZATIONS.
5)IT'S JUST KITAT,YOU WILL SIMPLY LOVE IT.
CONS:
1) INTERNAL STORAGE DOESN'T FULLY WORK.WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
- IF YOU INSTALL AN APP,A GAME,ANYTHING FROM PLAYSTORE,YOU CAN'T MOVE IT TO INTERNAL STORAGE.THIS OPTIONS JUST ISN'T THERE.
-THE INTERNAL STORAGE ISN'T SHOWN IN SETTINGS->STORAGE
-YOU CAN ACCESS THE INTERNAL STORAGE WITH A FILES BROWSER(STOCK ONE FROM CM11 IS GOOD).
-IF YOU WANT A BIG GAME,YOU CAN PUT IT'S CACHE IN INTERNAL STORAGE(BY CONNECTING THE PHONE TO PC) AND THEN INSTALL THE APK.IT WILL WORK.THIS WON'T WORK IF YOU PUT THE GAME'S CACHE ON SD CARD.
-ABOUT 300 MB WILL BE TAKEN BY SYSTEM(I DON'T KNOW WHY,HOW,BUT THIS HAPPENED TO ME).ANYWAY,IT'S NOT AN ISSUE
2)BLUETOOTH DOESN'T WORK.THAT'S JUST IT,NO WORKAROUND AT THIS MOMENT.I RARELY USE BT SO THIS ISN'T AN ISSUE FOR ME.I USE INTERNET TO SHARE FILES(WHATSAPP/FB/ETC)
3)IN CAMERA,YOU CAN'T SAVE THE PHOTOS/VIDEOS ON SD-CARD.THE CAMERA WILL FC.HOWEVER,AFTER THE DCIM FOLDER GETS LARGER,YOU CAN MOVE THEM MANUALLY TO SD CARD BY CONNECTING YOUR PHONE TO THE PC.
[HOW TO INSTALL]
I WILL RECOMMEND A CLEAR INSTALL(FULL FORMAT) AND THIS IS HOW MY TUTORIAL WILL BE BUILD.
0)Reflash your firmware.I did it this way to make sure I get rid off all bugs(optional).
ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED.
0.5)[edit] Format system before step 8 ! [you'll find this option in recovery]
1)Back-up contacts,apps,etc and save everything you need from sd card(optional ~ if you want to format it too) and from internal storage and format them.
2)Reboot your phone,connect it to pc and in internal storage create a folder named " 0 " (without quotes) and move all folders and files there(the one that Android automatically creates).This will be your new internal storage.Whatever is outside that folder (0) it won't be accessible after flashing CM11.

4)MOVE ALL OF THEM(EXCEPT CM11.RAR) IN THE " 0 " FOLDER.

6)DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL FLASHTOOL: http://www.flashtool.net/download.php

9)IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER YOU'LL SEE AN ICON (LIKE A THUNDER ~ FLASHTOOL ICON).CLICK IT AND SELECT FASTBOOT MODE.A NEW WINDOW WILL APPEAR
10) CLICK ON " SELECT SYSTEM TO FLASH" , GO TO SYSTEM.IMG AND SELCT IT( WHERE YOU EXTRACTED THE CM11 RAR FILE ~ IF YOU DID AS I SAID IT SHOULD BE ON DESKTOP) AND WAIT ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES.THE PROGRAM DOESN'T CLEARLY SAY WHEN IT'S FINISHED( IT WILL WRITE " CHECK THE LOGS BEFORE REBOOTING TO SYSTEM " ) . AFTER 2-3 MINUTES CLICK ON "SELECT KERNEL TO FLASH " AND SELECT BOOT.IMG.IT WILL TAKE 5 SECONDS OR SO.
11)AFTER THIS CLICK "REBOOT TO SYSTEM" AND WAIT FOR PHONE TO BOOT UP.YOU CAN DISCONNECT THE USB AND CLOSE FLASHTOOL.
12)OPTIMIZE THE PHONE A LITTLE.IF YOU WANT TO DISABLE SYNC BEFORE FLASHING GAPPS(I DID THIS BECAUSE I DON'T NEED SYNC ~ I RECOMMEND TO DISABLE SYNC AND MANUALLY SYNC ANYTHING YOU NEED LATER) GO TO SETTINGS-> INTERFACE - > QUICK SETTINGS PANEL -> TILES AND LAYOUT -> TAP THE " ADD + " BUTTON AND SELECT SYNC.THEN DISABLE IT FROM NOTIFICATION BAR (TAP IT).AFTER THIS REBOOT AND LEAVE THE PHONE ASIDE FOR A WHILE.
13)DOWNLOAD GAPPS.CHOSE WHATEVER YOU NEED.I CHOOSED MICRO MODULAR PACKAGE AS I DON'T USE GOOGLE SERVICES.I RECOMMEND YOU TO DO THE SAME IF YOU MORE FREE RAM.HERE'S THE LINK TO CHOOSE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
14)CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO PC ( FIRSTLY GO TO STORAGE -> TAP ON OPTIONS AND SELECT MTP MODE) AND MOVE PA_GAPPS ZIP TO INTERNAL STORAGE/0 (IN THE FOLDER WHERE graphical_glitches_fix / kitkat modules / UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94 zips are ).
15)DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE FROM PC,PRESS POWER BUTTON AND REBOOT.WHEN THE LED LIGHTS UP AND SONY'S LOGO PRESS VOLUME DOWN.THIS WILL GET YOU IN RECOVERY.DO A FACTORY RESET AND REBOOT.
16)ENTER RECOVERY AGAIN -> GO TO INSTALL ZIP -> FIND THE " 0 " FOLDER (IT'S IN SDCARD FOLDER) AND SELECT graphical_glitches_fix AND FLASH IT.REBOOT.DO THIS FOR THE REST OF THE ZIPS IN THIS ORDER:KitKat modules by stenly , UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94 , pa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.2-20140412-signed .AFTER FLASHING THE LAST ZIP TAP WIPE CACHE/DALVIK CACHE AND REBOOT.
AGAIN,I RECOMMEND A REBOOT BETWEEN FLASHING ZIPS EVEN IF TWRP GIVES YOU TO OPTIONS TO SELECT UP TO 10 ZIPS TO FLASH THEM ALL AT A TIME.
17)AFTER THE PHONE BOOTS UP,PLAY A LITTLE WITH IT AND DO A FINAL SIMPLE REBOOT.
18)GO TO CAMERA AND TAKE A PHOTO.IT'S VERY IMPORTANT,THIS WILL GET INTERNAL STORAGE TO BE SEEN BY THE FILE MANAGER.AFTER THIS YOU CAN CHECK INTERNAL STORAGE(IT'S CALLED " 0 ") WITH THE FILE MANAGER.
19)IF YOU GET CAMERA FORCE CLOSE DO A REBOOT.I GOT FC FIRST TIME AND AFTER A REBOOT SINCE YESTERDAY I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED ANY FC.DO NOT CHOOSE THE CAMERA TO SAVE PHOTOS ON SD CARD.IF YOU HOWEVER DO THIS,GO TO SETTINGS-> APPS -> ALL APPS AND WIPE CACHE FOR CAMERA APP.ALSO REMEMBER TO REDUCE EXPOSURE A LITTLE IF THE CAMERA ISN'T 100% SMOOTH.
20) CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO PC,MOVE BACK ALL YOUR FILES YOU'VE INITIALLY BACKED-UP AND THAT'S IT.IN ORDER TO RESTORE CONTACTS FROM SD CARD,FIND THE PIM00001.VCF FILE AND TAP ON IT.OPEN IT WITH CONTACTS AND IT'LL RESTORE ALL CONTACTS.FOR SOME REASONS,MY CONTACTS ARE SHOWING THE PHONE NUMER TWICE,I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY BUT IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL AND I HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT IT MUCH.
PERSONAL OPPINION: I'VE BEEN USING THIS CM11 FOR COUPLE OF HOURS( ~ 24 HOURS ) AND I DON'T HAVE ANY COMPLAIN.IT'S SMOOTH,EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS,IT'S FAST.

1. Download all and move it to your SD Card.
2. Take a nandroid backup.
3. Make sure you following Mr. Stenly's storage instructions first to get internal working.
4. Go to recovery.
5. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache.
6. Flash kernel and then ROM.
7. Reboot
8. Go to recovery again, flash GAPPS and then reboot.

- If your WiFi isn't working, try to flash KitKat Modules and then wipe cache and dalvik cache. In case still not working, try to reinstall CM11 using normal method by @StenlyAndroidProds
- Flash SuperSU / Root if you want to root your phone. (do this after last reboot)
- Flash Graphical Glitch Fixes if your phone faced graphical glitch bugs. (do this after last reboot)

Hi i just made this thread to make a base for everyone who bought this (form me) superb phone.
So far we got root, custom recovery, and many chinese roms (based on Nubia UI, Color OS, LEWA OS, FROG OS...).
There are Mokee AOSP 4.4.4. rom in develpoment and CM11 in development, CM12 also.
2015.02.13 - Latest firmware is 1.17 (andorid 4.4.2, nubia UI2.5.1)!!!

TIPS & TRICKS
-HOW TO CHANGE LCD DENSITY and switch to phablet UI!!! Beware, the camera app is little bit smaller then the screen, becaouse of the density, but still works well.
-HOW TO ADD ONE HAND FEATURE
-did you know that when holding home button on locked screen lights a flashlight?
-when you double tap home button on locked screen the time changes to media player controls?
-when you tap several times on any home screen your glas will broke?
-when you zoom out with two fingers on any home screen you will get into screen manager?
-in alarm clock app there is setting "power of alarm", when turned on, you can turn off your phone at night and the phone turns on by itself in the alarmclock time and wakes you up?

People always asking again and again on flashing ROMs, Recovery, GApps, Root etc. So, I have made detailed step by step guide for this. Hope now it will be clear to everyone for these processes:
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING FROM FOLLOWING, PLEASE MAKE ANANDROID BACKUP, BEST WITH TWRP!!!BECAUSE TWRP CAN MAKE BACKUP INCLUDING PRESIST AND MODEMST PARTITIONS!!![/CENTER]
GUIDE TO FLASH STOCK ROM:
NOTE:
1. Be sure to backup all important data (contacts, messages, call records, etc.) before proceeding
2. Ensure that Phone Battery is at least 40%.
3. Downloaded required STOCK ROM.
4. Phone with Stock Recovery.
STEPS:
1. Copy the downloaded zipped STOCK ROM to the root directory of External SD card or Internal SD card.
2. Power-off the phone.
3. Put the phone in the Recovery Mode and for this you need to press Vol+ and Power button at the same time for few secs and then release the Power Button.
4. In the Stock Recovery, perform wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition (In the menu, use +/- volume keys to scroll up/down & power button for confirmation).
5. Depending on which SD card you have copied the zipped STOCK ROM, choose "Apply update from /sdcard" or "Apply update from external /sdcard" accordingly.
6. Select the zipped STOCK ROM to flash.
7. Wait until you get the confirmation of successful flashing.
8. Reboot the phone by selecting "reboot system now".
9. DONE. (Initial boot may take some time so have patience.)
GUIDE TO INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY + CUSTOM ROM:
AS FOR CERTAIN REPORTS IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO FLASH CWM RECOVERY IF YOU HAVE 1/8 VERSION
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Be sure to backup all important data (contacts, messages, call records, etc.) before proceeding.
2. Working Windows PC with ADB Drivers installed - without proper installation of drivers the process will not be successful.
3. Ensure that Phone Battery is at least 40%.
STEPS: (If you need only Custom Recovery, then follow the steps from 2 to 7, other steps you can skip)
1. Download the required zipped Custom ROM and copy it to the root directory of External SD card or Internal SD card.
2. Download the Recovery Tool zip file. (Link to download the Tool) . Make sure to download whole files. After that copy the zipped file to the root directory of C:\ or any place you prefer and then unzip the downloaded file.
3. Enable USB debuging mode. ("Menu Button" >> System settings(Settings) >> About phone(On the phone) >> Tap 6 times on Build number>>"Back button">> More >> Developer options >> Enable USB Debugging)
4. Connect the phone to the PC.
5. Go to the folder where you have unzipped the Recovery Tool file, and then execute the batch file "run.bat".
6. In PC, new window will open. Input your choice of Custom Recovery accordingly.
7. Follow the steps on-screen until all completes.
8. After completion, in the Fastboot menu, select "Boot recovery".
9. If the Custom Recovery was flashed succesfully, you will get CWM or TWRP recovery menu.
10. Perform wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
11. To flash the firmware: Select "Install ZIP" >> "choose zip from sdcard0 or sdcard1" depending on which SD card you have copied the ROM, external or internal >> Select Custom ROM >> Click Yes to flash selected ROM.
12. Wait until you get the confirmation of successful flashing.
13. Reboot the phone by selecting "reboot system now".
14. DONE. (Initial boot may take some time so have patience.)
GUIDE TO INSTALL GAPPs & ROOT:
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Backup all important data (contacts, messages, call records, etc.) before proceeding, if necessary.
2. Requires CUSTOM RECOVERY.(Mandatory)
STEPS:
1. Download appropriate flashable zipped GAPPS & ROOT files and copy it to the root directory of External SD card or Internal SD card.
2. Power-off the phone.
3. Put the phone in the CWM or TWRP Recovery Mode and for this you need to press Vol+ and Power button at the same time for few secs and then release the Power Button.
4. Flash the zipped files (one at a time): Select "Install ZIP" >> "choose zip from sdcard0 or sdcard1" depending on which SD card you have copied the file, external or internal >> Select Zipped File >> Click Yes to flash selected file.
(No need to do wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition)
5. After successful flashing, reboot the phone by selecting "reboot system now". If it ask to fix the permission when you reboot, select Yes.
7. Wait until you get the confirmation of successful flashing.
8. DONE. (Your phone will have GApps and Root Permission)
and don´t forget to hit thanx button to @navin_n, @fazerg and me maybe @DallasCZ
APPS taht can be remover (thanx navin_n)
If you have already Rooted your device then you can easily uninstall the system apps using "Root Uninstallers" available in Google Play.
However, for me , i prefer to use Root Explorer and delete the apps from system folder. The following apps are safe to delete but still i advise you to backup the files before deleting. If you use Root Explorer, make sure to change attribute of the system folder from Read Only (R/O) to Read Write (R/W) when deleting.
Be ware you make it on your own!! If there is also odex file, delete them too!!!

the only way to root it so far is to run an Chinese exe, which will root your phone and install superuser (chinese one). Then you need to uninstall the superuser and install one from google play.

I wrote a little review on gizchina.cz (is in Czech language,so use google translator)
TIP
For new users i recommend do this:
-boot your phone and see vhich version of formware you have (latest at this time is 0.50).
-If you have 0.44, then go to dialer and dial ##36. You get to the menu where you can select which server will be used for updates (at this time is 0.50 only for few people for feedback). then go to ybout phone and tap serach for updates and you get the update.
-after update is installed, go to about phone and tap 5times "build number" line , go back and go to "more" and "developer option" and turn on usb debugging.
-launch my root.bat, select root your phone and th ephone will reboot to bootloader and will be rooted.
-now you can install custom recovery (from my bat.file) it is bilangual CWM 6.0.4.9 recovery. Everything works fine as i used it.
-now after root and cwm recovery installed, make backup of your 0.50 rom and then you can proceed to delete bloatware (a lot of bloatware).
for rotted phones with CWM recovery:
if you want to make update from ZTE OTA, you have to load original recovery, the one in my package is not functional with update to 0.50 and above, so you have to flash from CWM recovery this package, then reboot and get the proper stock recovery, which will be functional with the update 0.44-0.50 and later.

Thanks for the info! I'm currently updating to 0.5 and will let you know if I manage to root it too.
I`ve read the review and mine phone too has the squeaky back cover. It started squeaky after just few back panel removals. This is not a concern for me, but I wanted to ask you something else: How is you call quality? When I do calls the other side can hear me perfectly but the sound through my ear speaker is muffled and not very clear. Increasing the volume make it even worse. Do you experience such an issue?
-the back cover is really squeaky (i allready ordered another one)
-I am very happy vith the call quality. I had a nexus s whos volume vas up to 100%. Now i am about 60% and everything is loud and clear as i can hear

- I tried updating to 0.5 both through FOTA and with direclty downloaded update from the chinese official site to the sd card, but I always get some error (forgot what it was), will try tomorrow once again.
- My apps are upgrade after each reboot too. I was hoping that 0.5 will fix this issue, but It seems this is not the case.
- I'm on the hunt for a new back cover too, but I will wait for the official blue ones Share your thoughts on the one you purchased after a few days of usage
My only problem with the phone I experience is the bad incoming sound quality during calls. I will have try another sim card.

-If you get the "android is upgrading" on every boot, then you have to uninstall titanium backup, reboot, wait 3 minutes and let the system settle down, then install titanium again, reboot, and its done.
-if you want to restore WIFI access point and passwords form Titanium Backup, use backup from tar file, not from XML!!!
Waiting on a custom rom
Hello everyone,
I used the method I found at needrom.
It did the trick; the device was rooted, gapps installed, an multilangual.
But I didn't manage to install the latest update (50). I thought it was because the device was rooted, so I removed root, whitout succes, I am still not able to install the update.
Also I think the contact manager is buggy; newly added contacts dissapear after rebooting the device, it doesn't matter if I sync the device. I have to import my contacts from my SD card every time this happens.
So, I hope there comes a good custom rom for this device with this excellent hardware! I have Miui unofficiall on my Xiaomi Mi2s, it works like a charm. I hope soon this device appears on the list one of these days

-if you installed the ROm from needrom, i think you cannot upgrade to 0.50.
-on www.ztehn.com you can download the full 0.50 rom (only english and chinese language) this rom you can flash.
-contacts: If you are in contacts, press "more" and "advanced" and check the "default storage" it must be set to your google account. Then go back and check "display settings" and check which accounts are to show in contact list.
I had same problem and the problem was, that all new contact automaticly save to local storage and i have the local storage unchecked to display..so i havent seen my newly added contacts!!!

I sucessfully installed 1.06 and its looking good so far. The problem Im facing is the "No connection to google servers" error when I try to add my google account. There is no playstore and I tried to manually install it trhough .apk but again no luck. Have you guys managed to run the playstore with this new firmware?

Whats wrong/missing?
--- Off-screen gestures is intentionally removed for better battery backup, because it is main culprit in faster-drain of battery. It will not be added in my ROM now or in future. But you can try any Free App available on Google Play Store for the same. Kindly do not send request for adding it. I don't want freaking panic reports for battery drains.
Important: Screen Gestures are still working perfectly. For GOD's sake read and understand that Offscreen gestures and Screen Gestures are different things. Those who will again ask it will be recognized as nothing but n00bs.
Installation Instructions:
Warning: Do at your own risk. Electricity Supply failure or disconnection due to poor cable can still brick your phone beyond repair. I am not responsible for any damages.
1) Optional if already installed before: Download and install ADB USB Driver Provided by iBerry (Recommended). You can also use Universal Android USB Drivers if you have any. Restart PC after installing.
2) Optional if already installed before: Download and Install ADB Driver Installer for Windows (important) while installing connect phone to pc and let is recognize .
After installation is done disconnect phone from pc.
Rebooting PC/Laptop Recommended at this point. DO NOT CONNECT YOUR PHONE NOW.
3) Download and extract Main FIRMWARE Package (Link in Second Post) on desktop or anywhere on your pc/laptop.
4) Also Download and extract SPFT Flashing Tool on your pc/laptop (Download Link)
5) Run as Administrator the Flash_Tool.exe from SPTools folder inside that folder you extracted.
6) Keep all options checked (selected) as shown in following image. If options are not checked (selected) then click on "Scatter-loading" button at top-right side and select "MT6592_Android_scatter.txt" file from extracted "Firmware443" sub-folder . All files options will be selected but if anything is not selected then select accordingly as mentioned in following image.
Now PRESS "Download" button at top
7) Remove battery and memory card from phone and connect PHONE to pc with usb cable. Now pc should recognize phone and flashing should start in a minute. Look at process bar in image below. WAIT WITH PATIENCE.
After flashing is done, the GREEN tick mark will be shown as shown in image below.
8) Now close program on pc and remove cable and reboot phone.
9) Important: When phone starts you should do Factory Reset by going Settings >> Backup & Reset >> Factory Data Reset.
This step will reboot your phone once more.
10) ABOVE IS MAIN ROM. Flash Recovery Flashable Zip of Update Version 1.1. Just flash from Recovery and reboot. No wipe required.
Done. Enjoy Press thanks if you liked my work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question 1) My phone is not rooted. Can I go with this 4.4.3?
Answer: Yes of course. This can be directly flashed on Unrooted phones with SPFT method. So with this flash you automatically get TWRP 2.7.1.0 Recovery and Fully Rooted ROM! SPFT Unbricks Phone. UNBRICK MEANS, when phone is dead or everything is messed or bootloops or partition table damaged or blank screen or corrupted rom, etc. etc. Just flash with this method and you are back on FRESH 4.4.3 ROM. Flashing Rom from recovery may always get issues if method is wrong or tables not compatible or any wierd issues but Flashing with SPFT means resetting of partition tables and flashing all content in every partition like A COMPANY gives you.
Question 2) My PC/Laptop is not detecting my Phone while flashing. What to do?
Answer: Above drivers worked for me flawlessly. Phone was detected in first try but there are members who reported that they did it 2/3 times and then phone was detected. Well it is weird but you can try installing driver and rebooting pc and repeat it 2/3 times. When it installs the flashing tool will show COM3 serial port connected message at bottom right corner as shown in this image.
If everything fails, try this new USB2Serial Driver which I have recently found from iBerry's official rom package and it should help. DOWNLOAD USB2Serial Driver
Question 3) SPFT Flashing fails with message "PMT changed for the rom it must be downloaded" What to do?
Answer: That error means that the partition table present in the phone is different from the partition table that the rom ur trying to flash to the phone needs. There is drop down with few flashing modes. "Download only" mode doesn't reformat the phone's partitions to what the new rom needs, so you have to choose the "Firmware Upgrade" mode option, that will apply the new formatting table following the settings of the rom you are trying to flash.

This SPFT version flashes P5 but there is P6 Baseband updates given in Second post. Flash it from Recovery mode..

Working on 4.4.4 now. It will come for sure before iBerry even can think of :laugh:
Android update was major task for me. I can not even think of custom roms when the features are not working fine in stock rom. So first mission is perfect camera , battery etc. Just check camera is improved like hell in 4.4.3. Sure some custom roms will follow....

Proximity sensor doesn't seem to work. Please check. I dont have any issue with that as I'm using the phone with flip cover and hence no chance of my ear touching the screen. Have you purposely done away with that to improve battery?

Reboot Recommended at this point. DO NOT CONNECT YOUR PHONE NOW.
3) Download and extract Main FIRMWARE Package (Link in Second Post) on desktop or anywhere on your pc/laptop.
4) Also Download and extract SPFT Flashing Tool on your pc/laptop (Download Link)
5) Run as Administrator the Flash_Tool.exe from SPTools folder inside that folder you extracted.

No! Proximity Sensor need to be recalibrated from secret manu *#*#33#*#*
Nothing done for battery. Will work on proximity to make it like stock by checking codes. Please wait.

This was based on 4.4.3 stock so I did not mixed Xperia Z keyboard. Wait for next updates. I will try to replace keyboard but after some time. Hope you will wait with patience because I get involved in many models at the same time. You may remind me if I forget. Thanks

1.Call connect vibrating is ther in your Rom but call end vibrating not there. Please add that option
2.battery backup is k..but please optimizing better battery backup.. In using of 2g/3g net battery drain 1m/1% discharging.. I faced this problem in 4.4.2. In your rom also same.. In sleeping time(screen off) battery not discharging its awesome.
3.gps is not working in travel time not connected in gps satellite.. In my net connection is h+ but not connected in speed meter..

I have posted requests for help a couple of times. Request you to please help me on beneath two items -
- Post flashing the 4.4.3 rom, am unable to find the option of offscreen gestures.
- I am unable to find the option to save fingerprints. After scanning the fingerprint, there is a box on screen that turns green, but there is no option to add or save the print.
- Also, as I just realized today, Bluetooth does not switch on. is there a bug in the rom?

hi, first of all thanks for making ROM for this phone, well after downloading files i was unable to extract them, i dont know whether i bcame dumb :silly: or problem with zip file. i downloaded files 4 times & still i was unable to extract them ! plz correct me where i was :silly:

try deleting the space before the extension (.z01) and try extracting from the other zip file

@yamani_25 - Haven't done it myself, but first root your phone (see bottom of http://giveawaytricks.in/install-cyanogenmod-13-leagoo-m5/) then install TWRP the same way but using the recovery.img that's in the TWRP.3.0.2 zip file.

Hi guys! Here's a tutorial for installing custom recovery (twrp) and how to root Leagoo M5 cellphone.
First turn on the cellphone, go to "Settings>About phone" and enable "Developer options" by tapping on the "Build number" multiple times. Then go one step back, enter the "Developer options" and turn it on, and also enable the "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" options
Now you need to install custom recovery by following these steps:
1. plug the cellphone into pc, unzip and manually install drivers by going to "control panel>device manager" (select the device which needs drivers).

2. download to pc and unzip the twrp custom recovery zip file

Now copy this "supersu" zip file to cellphone (e.x. into "Download" folder). Once you're done, disconnect the cellphone from pc and turn it off.
5. go into "Sp Flash tool" folder and run "flash_tool.exe" application. Click on the "Download tab" at the top and then on the "Scatter-loading" button to select a path to Scatter file which is needed to flash custom recovery. The file is located in the "TWRP_3.0.2" folder and it is named "MT6580_Android_scatter.txt". The mode for flashing should be "Download only". When you're sure that everything is setup correctly click on the "Download" button located in the top left part of the screen.
6. Now take out a battery from cellphone, wait 5 seconds, put it back in, and just connect the cellphone. Do not turn it on.
Windows (PC) should recognize the device, and the flashing process should start.
Note: if it says that there is no driver, then manually install it by following procedure on step 1.
When the flashing is done you'll see a green checkmark. It's ok now to close the app and to disconnect the cellphone from the pc.
7. Cellphone will boot to startup menu, you should choose "Recovery" to enter TWRP custom recovery.
When you're in recovery go to "Mount" and mount (select) following partitions: protect_f, protect_s, nvdata, System, Cache and Data.
Now it's time to perform root. Go back from "Mount" screen, tap on "Install", find and select "SuperSU_PRO_v2.76_patched_Cobra1111.zip" file and flash it.
When the flashing is done click on "delete cache and dalvik cache", and then reboot cellphone.
8. Let the cellphone boot, it should take a few minutes. When it's booted you'll see the "SuperSU" app installed on your cellphone homescreen.
You're done! Enjoy!
Note:

One more thing. I would advise you to perform nandroid backup of your cellphone. Go into twrp recovery and perform backup (all partitions), save it to sd card and also copy that backup to pc, just in case something goes wrong.

as you all know, youtube app on the Leagoo m5 is an very old version. in order to update it you need to do the following:
note: you have to have a rooted phone
1. install file manager app which can access system partition (es file explorer, root explorer, etc.)
2. start file manager, go to /system/priv-app and move the folder named "Youtube" to another directory outside /system, e.g. to /sdcard/Download
3. restart the phone
4. install the youtube app from the google play

ARGH, didn't noticed this, but really, the youtube app got frozen every time on the stock rom. That's why i changed to this Cyanogen.

Not sure about battery life sorry, i'm trying to keep it charged
But i still have problems with youtube (however i'm not an experienced user): sometimes it halts, mostly in 720p/HD videos. The picture freezes, audio is working. Sometimes the video gets zoomed to the left upper corner with a black banner in the left. This could be an app-problem though.

Oops, fingerprint sensor doesn't work with CM.
Well, that's bad.
I have thought that the cm rom has the all functionality.
Better to stay on stock rom then. Only problem with it is sending images from within whatsapp, because it works on only one awkward way.

Is there a way to un-root after fixing YouTube? MobileIron refuses to work on a rooted phone, probably because it's a security hole.

i have a problem with my battery ( drain out too fast - 25% in 30 min - and charge really slow - full charge in 6h+ !!! )
I suspect that this is caused due to the official update i made but the strange thing is that my mother's m5 with the same update is ok.
Is there any " official " way to go back to the original version to check it without doing all this process you analyzed ?
Ps. I checked my apps / settings, cleared chase, made factory reset, changed charger, checked my battery with apps and is in a good condition,
so i concluded that problem has to be there. Any ideas ?
