About forums and NFC - Samsung Galaxy S II Plus

Hey!
1. Why are there two sections for S2 plus development? With and without "original"? Are there any differences between the ROMs?
2. I'm using Babba ROM and when I switched NFC on, it just became grey. Is there solution for this or is it even meant to work? I tried rebooting but nothing happens.

Currently running CM9 with MetalliKernel.. I'm digging it,even though I cant move apps to my external sd car (which is like that on all roms including stock). Very stable, fast, no lag or issues.
Update: Using GL to sd to move my games with massive date to my external sd card

Yes. The same applies for roms. The only difference between the 2 models is the ir blaster. Since the drivers for it are closed source it doesn't work on any cm based rom, this removing the only difference between the 2 models. If you care about the ir blaster you'll have to stick with stock based roms that support it. Btw the recovery doesn't use the ir blaster at all so installing a 5110 recovery won't screw up the ir blaster, it will still work as recovery and rom are separate

Don't. S2 and S2+ are not the same.
You can try the discontinued Cyan by skullface here (which works on my 9105 although said to be only for the P version) or just wait patiently.

One more thing.. and good reason why I should flash skullface rom over stock rom?
Sent from my GT-I9105 using xda app-developers app
@fayez107
Yeah, my phone is the non-P. Apparently, the phone ignores the nfc files or the nfc files are missing - the P users reported non-working nfc. (not sure which of the 2 reasons) so that's why skullface's port works for the non-P.
In theory, custom roms are made to enhance user experience, offering certain improvements like smoothness, better battery consumption, extra features, cosmetics, etc. But it's entirely up to you. You'd have to test them and see which works best for you. Some people prefer stock rom. This is all mostly what I gathered from searching and reading xda, I'm still new to Android too and still learning things. Plus there hasn't been many custom Roms to play with, at least not yet.
Edit: I think we should let this thread die off since the op's query has been answered and the topic has derailed. In case some newbie wanders in and gets the wrong idea from reading the last 2 or 3 posts and flashes a rom meant for the S2

[Q] N8000 ROM based on JB 4.2.2 with proper S-Pen support?

Hello people,
I've been searching for a good ROM for my note 10.1 3G edition that enables all the options of S-Pen including ignoring palm touches. I've tried a lot of ROMs like CM and HD revolution. CM lacks S-Pen support and HD revolution was 4.1.2.
Can you suggest some ROMs that are based on 4.2.2 or above, and in the main time can handle the S-Pen properly?
Or at least if there are some apps on market that can add the S-Pen support to CM?
Thanks in advance!
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but can't you just flash a 4.2 kernel over ARHD?

You can replace a kernel by another one without altering the rest of the system, but I'm not sure whether all kernels can be flashed on top of any firmware.
