Looking for programmer to port XNA game to Android OS or Linux to run on ARM board - General Topics

I wasn't quite sure which forum to post this in. I have a game that was originally made for Xbox Live Indie Games in C# with XNA libraries and now I want to run it on an ARM board in an arcade machine. So I'm looking for someone to help port it to Linux or Android OS using Monogame and get it running on whatever ARM board we decide on. You can see gameplay footage at link below (edit: can't post links yet, so add this text to the end of the youtube url).

Bump. Nobody interested in building an ARM-based arcade machine? This is a commercial venture, not just a MAME machine. I already have 2 distributors interested. I can pay some money now and also offer royalties on machines sold.

Have you asked for help from a freelance site like Staff.com, Odesk or Fiverr? I think they can help you find a programmer that is best for this position. Only thing is, they may be remote or onshore but definitely not in your location. If you're looking for a full time programmer I suggest looking at Staff.com, or else look into Fiverr or Odesk.

Thanks for the response, and for the links. I think I might've found the perfect guy actually through the Raspberry Pi forums. He's one of the Monogame developers and works on embedded systems. As a friend of mine likes to say, you gotta get lucky sometimes!

Flood It! the game - for PPC?

Guys,
I've just become obsessed with the flash game "Flood It" - http://www.labpixies.com/gadget_page.php?id=10
Can anyone tell me a similar game or how I can get this for my PPC?
THanks,
Grace
I am looking for the same game. It would be great if someone with programming skills could write similar game or IF possible port the existing game to pocket PC
Flood It came out for iPhone
I just checked the LabPixies website and I see that they came out with the Flood It game for iPhone.
I have NO idea how or if it is possible to port iphone games to windows mobile but I thought I would let you guys know that it exists so maybe someone can make it work under win mobile.
PS. I will be trying to make my own version working under windows mobile, but I will not start until the school semester is over due to the lack of time.
I will be coding in either VB.net or C#
wish me luck
Good Luck!!!
BTW.. have you had any luck writing this as yet?
I am sorry but I did not. I did not even try to be honest.
I had to take one internship/project class over the summer and I changed job so I didn't have much time.
LabPixes version of floodIt is so advanced now that it is hard to compete with
I am back to school now with 5 classes and full time job, so it will be hard to find time, and besides that to be honest the more I think about this project the less I think I know how to do it...
My programming skills are just not enough.
I think you will have to either use PC, iPhone or get Android on your device. The third seems like the easiest solution providing you have a device that the Android was ported to.
Sorry again and good luck.

Looking for skilled windows mobile scripters/coders for a game idea

All i can do is the graphics for the game and level design. If youre interested in working on an awesome game idea and making it a reality then send me a message or reply to this thread. Only serious inquiries please, and only those who dont expect to be paid for the work being as i have no money for hiring anyone. Anyone involved in the project will become partners and any income recieved will be split evenly throughout the entirety of its life. Hope to hear from someone soon.

Why is gaming on Android still lacking of great companies?

I don’t understand why gaming companies such EA, Capcom, Square Enix, etc don’t offer the same amount of games that we can easily find on App Store?
I used to have on my iPhone games like, SF 4, NBA Jam, Dead Space, Metal Slug, Dragons Lair a many others that I cannot find on Android market.
Is there any explanation for it? Android as far as I know is the most popular OS so why those companies don’t develop games to Android?
And I know I can get ROMs for some games (like Neogeo – Metal Slug, King of Fighters etc) but it’s not the same, those ROMs are not really developed for Android, they are adapted so for me we cannot have the best of it.
Wouldn’t be cool to have a SF 3D for O3D? or Dead Space 3D?
Which games, in 3D, would you like to see it?
The only big company that I can see doing a great job is Gameloft, apart from them the rest is rest at the moment.
Shame that they are not treating Android with respect.
Several studies have shown that Android users are much less keen on buying apps than iOS users. Therefore, the large gaming companies you mentioned probably estimate the market for complex Android games is too small to be lucrative.

Perhaps they are not willing to buy because there are no "good games" at the moment?
I have bought 3 3D from Gameloft and will be buy more from them very soon.
In my opinion it is just a matter of what the marketing is offering if there is good games people would pay for it.
I think it may also be because android users are innate hackers. Kind of kills their bottom line.
If we really get "Onlive" on our Android devices like it was announced, gaming is going to take another direction. Try "onlive viewer" and check what gaming is all about.

I don't agree with that, it would be same idea for game consoles.
The gamers know that it is possible to get pirate games online and unlock their consoles, but I do believe that it's not everybody that does that and the same you can say about Android.
You have millions of people using the system and it's impossible to think that all these people would be hacking their phones.
Even iPhones can be unlocked (Jailbreak - Cydia) where you can get free stuff as well.
I really don't see much of logic if this is what these companies are thinking.

I've seen the thread and it looks promising, I hope they will offer that officially to Android and hopefully people outside USA will be able to use this service.

Have you ever tried to hack an Xbox? I'm a pretty tech savvy Guy and I can't do it. It all hangs on security, and mobile phones lack it for the most part. I personally would release to xbla instead of a mobile platform.

Its pretty easy to hack wii/xbox360/ps3 i have done that on all my consoles easy to hack iphone also android everything are hackable! So thats not a good excuse that the big companys dont make the good games to android its all about money and tactics from apples side. But as seen now it very soon will change alot more ppl having android phones today. Apple is at top now but they are close to fall in near future a company are at top for awhile but sooner or later its going to fall. Also its another reason that apple will fall steve jobs have quited. He is pretty good to talk so he had done alot for the company just becouse of hes way to talk about apple product! so hopefully in near future the game companys see its alot money to earn at android too just look at gameloft they earn pretty good for those android games becouse thats quality games its worth to pay for!

Net Navi/Mega man PET style app

So I got to thinking earlier today that it would be kinda awesome to have "net navis" on our android devices. It could be somewhat based on the Megaman games where you would have a character that would "live in your phone" and it could be your personal assistant along with going into the net and doing cool things like in the games. So it could have a practical and helpful use and a game/fun use. It could be an interesting idea that a developer could take and run with or maybe there's even something out there like this already. If anyone really likes the idea and would like to create it, i have a whole gameplan layed out for the specifics. I'm just not too savvy on app making. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Haha, I thought of that 2 minutes after I started playing MegaMan Battle Network (the original game for the GBA)! Unfortunately, I don't know how to code. If I did, I would have made a PET app already. It's crazy that Capcom hasn't and isn't planning on ever doing it. It seems like such an obvious thing to make. MMBN was ahead of its time but now we have smartphones that are just like PETs from the games and anime and we have assistant-like programs like Siri and Google Now.
I'm seriously considering learning how to code and program AI bots just so that I can make a NetNavi program. It would be even cooler if I could make AI programs self aware but I don't think I could ever do that. If I ever learn to code I'll make the app and let you know ;P
I'm actually kind of interested on the "gameplan" you've got laid out Maybe we've thought of the same things.
What I would not like to see this turning into is a fighting MMO. That would totally ruin the concept as NetNavis were supposed to be useful programs and not just toys.
I think i would like to get into this once i start getting the hang of doing android development. i already do other kinds of development including web based and some back end game development.
Let us know if you do. I would soooooo love to make the program but even if I did know how to code it would still be incredibly hard. It should be some sort of launcher and not just an app. Kinda like the way Facebook Home works: it doesn't take away important features but it customizes the whole experience in order to do its job. That how I imagine this. You get a call and, instead of ringing, your phone vibrates intensely and when you get it out of your pocket your Navi says something along the lines of "X is calling you. Wanna pick it up?". Of course Navis would speak differently depending on who you are (age, job, personality etc). When somebody sends you an email, your Navi would say "You got an email from X. Want me to read it?".
On to the interface, I think most of it shouldn't be easy to customize. Everyone should start off with a default gray humanoid Navi and from that point on, if somebody wants a custom Navi they should program it themselves so that they can make it look exactly the way they want it to look. There shouldn't be a Navi customization feature where users can pick a set of eyes, ahead shape, a helmet etc because that would make it too childish. The maker of the program should offer advice on how to create a custom Navi an should make that possible to do but that's about it. Remember how in the game not many people had custom Navis?
If you ever need alpha/beta testers you know who to ask
Good idea!

Yo I honestly think this is a good idea. Ive been DYING for an app like this to come out. You could combine something like iOS Siri and a Launcher/Theme app with a netnavi sort of mini game rpg type thing close to the gba game. You could customize the everything about the netnavi and level up find new weapons battle other people and all kinds of things as it progresses. It could make a whole lot of money too it could end up as its own Operating System like in the game. A real artificially intelligent app/OS game or whatever you could take it in a whole lot of places really. Someone needs to work on this idea.

Well, if I were to make a NetNavi program it wouldn't be a game. It would be a useful AI virtual assistant that would sort of combine Siri with Google Now. Like, it could intelligently predict what you wanna know and would know if you are interested in something specific during that time (like, say, an upcoming video game release) and it would help you with your life so that you don't have to open a billion different apps in order to do a single thing. One app (or rather, one OS) would be able to do everything and people would be able to download add-ons but not apps. The experience would have to be uniformed and everything should be accessible by the Navi so that it can do its job.
Of course, it could still have a gaming aspect. In the GBA games and in the anime NetNavis are personal assistants/anti-virus programs first and online gaming avatars (NetBattlers) second. So that would be nice. People who are only interested in a personal assistant could use the Navi that way while people who are into gaming could also train them to battle.

That sounds perfect lol i mean i honestly think it can be done and would love for thos to happen. Someone could even make a custom ROM or something or Launcher for now til it gets out there and does good cause all that coding and programs to make this would be expensive in the beginning. Someone could create an add on to a rom already til it gets popular or anything really lol i jus wanna see it done i been waiting since i was a kid and i know its possible now.

Hahah I've been waiting for it since I was 6 xD (I'm 15 now)
Now that I've finished all the 6 MMBN GBA games I want a NetNavi / PET more than ever. And since nobody is making one -even though it seems so obvious and the resources are here for the most part- I'd be happy to be the one who creates it IF I had a team of scientists, engineers and programmers to help me. But I don't. And I don't know how to code. But if I ever learn how to, I promise I'm gonna do everything I can to make this a reality for everyone.

The resources are ~mostly~ here. What about the killer AI? I don't think we could make such smart bots... Maybe in a couple of decades and with enough dedication.... Actually, we might be pretty close; take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Tqt2TurCnI (you're gonna love it). Gotta get more info on this thing. Also, take a look at this amazing concept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8iGWzG5wyU .
I think I'm gonna work on some "prototypes" (sketches and stuff) during the summertime once the finals are over. It would be fun. And who knows. I'm interested in programming so I might learn how to code and make a working PET prototype one day :silly:

I personally don't have the time or skills to do it but I have the ideas and concepts of how it should work and how it should look. If you are able to take it and run that would be really awesome. Hey guys, hope this is still an open topic because I've been planning on starting a project to create an AI suitable for an app like this, then continue to work on it until it becomes a general AI. (or "super AI" capable of emotion, perception, interaction, education etc. like how human are to an extent) I've been a fan of Megaman for a while but took most interest in MMBN series because of the net navis and what they could be capable of. Toonwar, do you mind discussing to me your game plan lay out for this? you, or anyone else here really can just E-mail me at "[email protected]" in case Im not online at the moment or something. look forward to the dawn of navis and maybe a team that could help!
Hey guys:
Just wanted to say I'm passion too about AI...and love net navi's and megaman in general. I think it would be pretty cool if we could put together a team...even if not everyone can program well...we can all put our minds together and start getting the ball rolling right? Looking forward to this..

So you're best at making websites? The way I always envisioned the "jacking-in" and net navi battles would be a website based for navis to battle or meet up (because of course the internet doesnt look like it does in the show, and if navis could discard viruses there wouldnt be a fun battle that comes with it) so I think your skills would become really helpful later on in this! At the moment I'm actually learning the adroid SDK and java coding so that I can know the basics for starting an app for the AI's. It seems like youd be willing to help out in this? It'd be sweet if we could start a team!

[Q] Game Progamming

Hello i am a rookie programmer majoring in software engineering and i am currently studying in java. I want to work in the video game industry and from what i seen most of the top games made today used C++. This language i haven't used yet my question is if know java, python, and php but not C++ am i a goner in pursuing a career as a video game developer ? I graduate in April of 2015 any advise for me before i graduate.
Thank you
No you're not a goner, you can program games using Java as well. And remember its never too late to make a dream come true. So I'd suggest if you feel you need to know C++ then go ahead and learn it. Plenty of awesome guides and video tutorials out on the web.
Best of luck with your graduation
