[Fixes & FAQ] MIUI ROM 1.11.25 - Check first post first

Since there are a few bugs every week, users can't follow them and they will ask extra questions on the development topic.
So this topic is all about MIUI bugs, features and fixes. Let's keep the development topic clean.
This weeks versions is 1.11.25.
Bugs & fixes:
MIUI bugs:
ROM is not compatible with Bootmanager, it does not work properly - no fix
Porting bugs:
Camera has artefacts after taking a picture- Change resolution to 5M, it's set to wide mode by default.
Call answer delay - will be fixed in next version.
F.A.Q:
Q: Why is the homescreen laggy after first install ?
A: You need to Enable and Disable the High quality graphics in Launcher Settings.
Q: Why don't I have root permissions ?
A: You have to enable Root permission in Superuser settings.
Q: How do I move apps through homescreens ?
A: While holding the app with a hand, scroll with the other one.
Q: How do I quickly enable the flashlight ?
A: While on lockscreen, press and hold home button.
Q: How can I get a percentage battery bar ?
A: Go to Settings -> System -> Battery.
Q: How do I take a screenshot ?
A: Press MENU and VOL Down and you will get a snapshot. It will be saved in MIUI folder by default.
Q: Where can I find more themes that are not included in Theme Manager ?
A: Go to miui.us or miuiandroid.com and check the Theme section on their forums.

Install this as a normal app.

The purpose is to keep it stock with some workarounds. All the bugs will be fixed sooner or later. But thank you for your suggestion, users might use it.

sorry, can you explain compact mode?

Go to Settings -> Toggle Settings -> Choose Compact.

I am glad you like it.
Here is the promised fix for vibration (haptic feedback) for keyboard. Flash it in recovery and then go to Settings-> System -> Language & Input Settings -> Android Keyboard Settings -> Vibrate on keypress.

I am not able to access internet on my default miui browser using 3g connection.. i can access internet on other browsers easily like firefox.. on wifi miui browser works fine..

but when i tried it in firefox its works fine-
I tried every version of miui but same problem. i tried every thing wipeing cache, data, dalvik etc etc everything....

but I want to have like this xxx-xxxxxx any solution for this ?

There should be as located versions of MIUI have different presets, but I don't know how ;oþ

Only if you find a third party dialer that supports such number formats. MIUI is closed source and cannot be modified.

+1 on that!

launcher restarts completely after opening contacts through dialer app and then return to homescreen by homebutton.
i always acces my contacts through the dialer app, it's pretty annoying

Just tried now. Does not happen Seems I can reproduce it. Two times out of three this happens. Will update to first post and will report it.

I am currently using the fix provided by superkid. It's stock kernel with fixed audio. But if you prefer performance, than flash Tiamat kernel and change governor to smartass, but don't forget to adjust frequencies to your own needs.

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Hmm, it's not easy to try out this rom..
- There's no google play app on the phone
- There's no filebrowser
- Developer settings are greyed out so I can't push google play app to the phone with adb.
Maybe I'm overlooking something? but I can't work with your rom in this way
Apart from these negative points, this rom is very fast and smooth. Also very much settings, OC settings, launcher settings etc. Good job!
Edit: found the switch for development settings. Pushing playstore app to device right now

Edit: ok, android 4.1.1 now fully running on my desire S
Things I have found so far:
- Overall smoothness and performance is great! Comparable (maybe even better) to a freshly installed fallout 5.0!
- Tablet mode working!
- App resize working!
- Tablet mode: notification bar is half off the screen! Check screens below
- system settings disk space tab is force closing every time!
For the rest, it's too late too try. I'll post some screenshots here so anyone can look for himself.

The ROM is based on Andromadus (Flinny's latest 105 build) or CM10 (nk111's latest test 17 build)? I'm asking because on Andromadus there is still the "sound blackout" issue present while on CM10 it is not. Paranoid has great features, I love it (tested it before) but if I have sound issues with it, I cannot use it.

Cant wait to try. Downloading now

Well its on top of andromaus' sources, so i think its still equal to build 105.
Ill try the cm10 kernel later today, that one doesn't suffer from a sound blackout right?

I would remove that screenshot app If I were you...
That contains fishy malware ( I once had it in a rom included so users found it ).
Don't know the exact name anymore but i wouldn't take the risk if I were you.

had the sound blackout after two minutes of the first boot. Restarted the phone and after 5 minutes the same thing. the rom si fast and pretty much OK, but the sound problem is a major one . thank you

Don't know if it's kernel related or not but yes on nk111's build from 17.09 (latest) the sound issue is gone (I use it as daily since then and have no problems)

To add my experience. I've been running this for about a week. The only problems I've had are:
1) process.android.gapps forceclosing. If you eperience this, go to Settings>Apps>All>Contacts Storage>Force Close and Clear Data/Cache
2) I had a problem with audio streaming with sceen off. It was caused by an audio mod (Viper4Android Xhifi). If you encounter any problems, remove ny audio mods/apk's that aren't in the install zip.

Been using this on my P5100 since yesterday, and everything is working great! Also compared to samsung roms, for example ripper rom. This is fast and smooth! Lets see how this sets in long term usage.. So far so good! SlimBean rocks on Galaxy S 3 too!!!

after 2 hours of testing, i can say just UUUUAAAUUUUUUUU. Like i have new super fast device
just some questions, for a start
1) i have PIE enabled from left and right. but they work only in extended desktop mode. in normal mode only left PIE control shows up.
2) can navigation bar be set to left side?
3) and most important, can we use some custom kernel, to overclock our device? (just testing new DhollmenCM 3.0.39 and everything seems OK )
did i say i'm in LOVE toooo?

I have it patched but haven't tested it on my p5110. But, I was able to patch it using AgP. I know on my N7, it broke the ability to change buttons, and their functions, on the NavBar.
All battery related stats are using a ZeroLemon 7000mah battery.

I have 8 devices I maintain, between family, work, and Android I stay pretty busy. Order of importance, unfortunately Android is at the bottom. Though it does come before things like laundry, cleaning, and sometimes mowing the yard, LOL. Point being I am often not the most active in the threads, when I do have time I am working on the source and pushing to gerrit. So if you dont see me post for a few days, dont worry Im still here working on all 8 devices

yes i know this settings, how to explain, here are pictures:
when extended desktop disabled, only left and top PIE trigger works, and only left and top red to show location is there)
when extended desktop is enabled all areas work as it should

I like how sleek this app is for managing kernel/vm/performance settings. Beats anything else I've tried. :good:

Having problems with it working well with others
It's not the apps fault, but it doesn't work well with other tweaking apps, like xposed's android tuner. I guess someone wants to be first, and there's a conflict with it. By itself, it works good on gingerbread, but other tweaking apps can throw it off. When I used it, the slowdowns were incredible, and I had to uninstall it, and wipe any mention of it, from my phone. Before I did that, I froze xposed, and tried again, freezing gone, but I rely on android tuner to give me more control than yours offers(plus I paid for the paid wersion). All in all, it's good, but maybe one day I'll use it on a phone, that doesn't use gingerbread.

My report:
(1) I just set a new value on my Minfree. But when I re-opened PACPerf, it's still shows my default Minfrees. Curious, like a cat, I looked at the values on it's original location (sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree), and surprisingly, it shows my new values instead of my default one (which shows on PACPerf). Can you kindly check this bug.
(2) The colors in the Header is really irritating. Can you just set it on one color? (Preferably Black).
(3) The VM options are quite few, I guess. Is it really that few? Cause I don't see additional VM options like panic_on_oom or overcommit_mem...

1 - Don't think so, it isn't in my xposed, it is an app.
2 - I don't think you can break ART. If it is not compatible with ART, then it just won't work most likely.
3 - Try it and see?
4 - No adverse affect on battery. If anything, as you are tweaking the system to work better, you should see an improvement in battery, but that all depends how you use your device.

No frills CPU control is for controlling CPU frequency and this app already have that + other options

1. Its not a bug its a feature, In original PACPerformance app all values is set to default everytime you start the app.
2. Its from PACMAN rom and its cool :fingers-crossed:
3. It depends on what kernel you are using

Have noticed settings not sticking at boot despite being set to do so. Worked a couple of times, got the popup to tell me it has set on boot, but not since then. And settings also seemed to reset while phone was active as well one time.
LG G2 - 4.4.2 Stock

It worked on an lg optimus dynamic with area 51 ROM, kinda cool as I didn't know the ROM wasn't tuned for reads to what I find smooth via trial and error. Works for me though thanks.

So you get speed, stability, and ultra customization ability. Many of the additional code additions came from slim ROM and also Derteufels build and have been modified to work with my current setup. First time flashing a CM based rom to your device?
Update to the latest CM ready TWRP recovery or use the latest CWM
Make sure you are rooted
Download both the BeanStalk build and the latest Lollipop GAPPs package.
Boot into recovery
Perform a FULL factory wipe and wipe /system and dalvik cache as a precaution
Flash BeanStalk build
Flash GAPPs package
Reboot & Enjoy!

Everything is running awesome. The only issue I could find is I couldn't get double tap to work. Thanks again

Up and running. A bunch of mounting data errors, but everything flashed & booted. Even restored all of my apps. I had to do nothing but a few tweaks.
The only issue I am having is tapping the home button doesn't do anything. Back & recent however both work. Doesn't matter what app I'm in, pressing home doesn't work. I have to hit back to get back to Nova Launcher

I didn't experience any of those issues. I'm also using Nova. Maybe its a bad download.

I'll have to check the download. I'm also running into an issue where when I download a file, nothing shows up in the status bar area notifying me it's downloading. Not from a browser, or another app. The only way I know something is complete, is by checking the folder the download went into.
This is strange as well.

Double tap to sleep should work.
If you mean dt2w that's kernel related. I included cm kernel which doesn't have dt2w

I know this won't help, but everything running great here...
If anyone has any issues, I would suggest flashing official cm12, then factory wipe, and if you want dttw, flash glitch 3.07 cm...

This build is fast and as smooth as I have tried yet... I have tried alot of the Lollipop roms and I must say this one is my favorite so far.... Keep up the great work man... Thanks

Great ROM ... and 3 minor issues
I recently came across this ROM and I flashed it yesterday.
This is the best 5.0.x ROM I've tried on my flo device: stable and full-featured.
Great job!
I just want to report three minor issues.
1. This is hardly even an "issue"; more like just a very small inconvenience: Go to Settings->Security->Lock screen shortcuts and set the shortcut at the lower left to "None". It will still show the "telephone receiver" icon at the lower left of the lock screen. However, setting the shortcut at the lower right to "None" works as expected.
2. Go to Settings->BeanStalk options->Navigation bar, and try to add a "Custom icon" for any buttons. It doesn't show up on the navigation bar ... the button disappears in that case, and blank area appears in place of the button's icon.
3. Again in Settings->BeanStalk options->Navigation bar ... try to add any app or shortcut to a button. It will not function. Only an action from the original dropdown will work (i.e., Home, Recents, Empty spacer, Kill task, Last app, etc. ...)
None of these are big problems for me. I just wanted to report these minor issues.
I'm very happy with this ROM.
