Hi!
my sister got an Android phone for her birthday, but after some time, she realised, she doesn't like it so much...She decided to buy something more "user-friendly"(i don't understand her, she's crazy!!) and she decided to buy an iPhone.. But she has no idea, how to import her sms messages from Android to iPhone(if it is possible). Don't you know any solution, how to get it working??
Thanx a lot
Try saving the sms' to the sim card and just transfer the sim across, and save them to the phone.
if it works give me the android. Her loss can be my gain.
You can use "91 mobile assistant for android(visit www.91.com to download)" backup sms messages.
then, use "91 mobile assistant for iphone" restore your sms messages.
P.S:Your iphone must JB at first,and add weiphone(app.weiphone.com/cydia) by Cydia(install afc2).
Ok, thanks a lot i'll try it

You can use SMS Migrator here: http://www.androlib.com/android.application.org-baole-mainimporter-iCDt.aspx
SMS migrator only works for importing to android, not iphone.
91 mobile assistant android can only export as txt xml or csv,
91 mobile assistant iphone can only import .db files.
Is there no way to convert an xml into a db?
You mean export.
So I guess it's not possible then?
This is so amazing, with all this modern technology out there and no, there is no way to move data from product a to product b? It seems that this industry is indeed stuck in a thick cloud (of how to make things extremly hard for customers who want to switch).
Jailbreaking an iPhone 4s would not be that easy and I personally do not like to do this.
Why can't apple step up and create a "easy to transfer everything on the android to iPhone" application and google could do it vice versa? With what we have now it is either forget your data transfer and be stuck forever or throw it overboard and start from scratch. This is IT from the stone age and not the fancy miracle pixie dust stuff that is printed on the sales boxes.
I'm just switch from android to iphone,
is it really no way to convert sms from A to I?
My sms brought from my Palm -> WM -> Android...

Hello Together,
as I had the same problem (my girlfriend switched from android to iPhone) - I wrote a complete App that views the android sms-table on the iPhone, checks out contacts from the iPhone adressbook and allows to delete not needed messages!
If you are interested in the solution (as I'm still working to get it certified from apple) you can already contact me under philipp[at]frenzel.net
If you don't understand why it's only a viewer, this is because apple closed down any methods to add records to their tbl_messages in the background (uihuihuihui)
Took me days to dig into this "specials...".
Cheers Philipp

I used smsbackup + and I successfully copied all the messages on the database to gmail. But now my question is: how can I restore these sms on my iphone 3G iPhone OS 5.1?
Thanks

It's amazing how I face a problem and suddenly someone else has the same issue and digs up an old and forgotten thread for me.

U can modify the sms.db itunes backup file for add/remove/manage sms/mms. For who know a little bit of database language, i think all is possible. Remember we talking about text message, and non machine-code
With Android system we can export on many ways the sms (for example in xlm) and with another software (OSX, Windows, Linux) is possible merging the messages and create a new sms.db. After, with a synch through iTunes, we can have do the job.... Utopia ? I don't think....
Hello I have both Android and iPhone. I want to transfer one of my conversations on my iPhone (please don't ask me why). Do you know how I can do that? I tried searching already on google but I can't find any solutions. Backuptrans and Mobiletrans is so expensive for just 600+ messages.
Apple is going to release new app that helps users to switch from Android to iOS. I don't know if it has Messages sending option, but you need to wait for it: http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/8/8748113/apple-made-an-android-app-for-switchers
How to Transfer SMS from Android to iPhone
You've got tired of Android and ready to make the switch to iPhone. It is certainly a hassle to leave behind your important text messages when move to the new iPhone 6, 6 Plus, or 5S. To transfer text messages from Android to iPhone, you'll make sure that you have a Windows PC, two USB cables, and a Mobile Transfer tool, like Jihosoft Phone Transfer. Use USB cables to connect your Android and iPhone to the PC and the phone transfer tool will transfer text messages, contacts, calendar, photos, videos, music and other data from Android to iPhone.

It is called 'Move to iOS' but only works for new or reset ios devices. Messages attachments transferring is not supported.
Hi!
I just downloaded Textra. I have no problems sending SMS, but I have problems with MMS. Every time I send a MMS, I get a reply with the message:
"One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal."
I have set the Send Size Limit for photos to 300KB. APN Settings is correct, as when I use the Samsung SMS app, it works.
Is it some setting I need to do? I am not sure if the Textra app is automatically resizing the photos?
I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, running on Android version 4.4.4
Will appreciate if anyone has any solution to this? I am not a mobile user in USA but in Singapore
Thanks!
I think it's a compatibility problem on android 4.4.4.
You should notify to the deverlopers.
Heads up, I love iOS and Android, I think both OS provide excellent features to suite their respective users. With that said, he's my deal breaker as to why I may be returning my S6 within my 14 day return policy to go back to my iPhone 6 Plus.
1. MMS: Now with iOS you get Apple's proprietary iMessage which does not limit the quality of the picture you are sending out, it does however, limit the length of the video though but not the quality. The problem with Android is that it does limit the quality based on your carriers send size limit which in this case for me is 1mb per AT&T. I just couldn't believe it, it wasn't something I was aware of due to the fact that I've been with iOS for a few years now but when I attempted to send numerous pictures I had just taken with my brand spanking new S6 via Textra (Msg App), it kept throwing errors indicating it was out of memory or the file was too large! I was really disappointed to say the least, I mean damn I could send numerous .GIF images just fine via iMessage and can't even do that with the stock SMS app or with Textra - what gives?
2. Group Messaging: I text a lot, I also have quite a few group messages going during any given day at a time and to me group messaging is a big reason why I loved iOS + iMessage. To this day, I just can't comprehend how Google hasn't been able to come up with a solution to oppose iMessage.... It really baffles me... Everyone has their preferences when it comes to phones and OS, not everyone will be on an Android device nor will everyone be on an iPhone. I didn't think this would bother me as much but it is, now if this isn't a big deal to you then that's fine, again this is my preference and my personal opinion but how in the world are we in year 2015 and Android still can't get group messaging right is beyond me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, again I'm not bashing the S6 or Android, I was just unaware that these were still issues after all these years.
Thanks!
When you open your messaging app go into the settings and try to see if you have to enable group messaging.
Anyone else have this issue? Ive tried everything and I just cant recieve group texts, everyone gets mine but I cant get theirs. This happens on all messaging apps.
This issue only cropped up a week ago for me
Any solutions yet?!
I've recently gone to the S6 from iPhone. I've de-registered my number from the imessage app on apple's website, turned off imessage and facetime on my old iPhone, downloaded textra and numerous other messaging apps, and I still cant send or receive group messages to/from other iphones! When I send a group message, the text goes to the receivers individually. When they text me into a group message I don't receive anything.
Please any help or suggestions?!

I had some issues with MMS messages (including group messages) and a Sprint rep had me go into Settings->System Update->Update Profile and it fixed it. Give that a try.
As for your group messages going out as individual messages, this is typically an app settings. Group messages are MMS and send over mobile data, not over cellular like SMS (I might be using the wrong terms there). Most apps don't presume to use up your precious data and will instead send a group message as multiple SMS messages (using up your SMS quota rather than your data quota).
I just checked both Google Hangouts and Chomp SMS that I have on my phone, and both have a checkbox in their settings for something like "Use MMS for Group Messages."

I don't appear to have the "update profile" setting anywhere on my S6?
But I do have the MMS for group chat activated on my app.. :/
Any other suggestions?
Or can android simply not group chat with iphones?
Thanks for replying though!

I believe the problem is that iChat is a proprietary (closed) group messaging system.
