Mount USB as regular external drive, mac - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

So I've fine some searching and it seems nearly impossible to make these later androids Mount as a external hard drive like we used to.
Is there any easy to make it pure plug and play v or do I need third part apps to make it happen?
Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Well-- let me answer my own question through a weblink i just found on stock exchange. haha but, what's so good about MTP/Media Transfer Protocol?
Anyhow, this is what I got:
Go to Settings→About Phone/Tablet.
Go to “Build Number” at the end of the Scroll list.
Tap on “Build Number” repeatedly (7 times). On your third tap you should see message indicating that you only have 4 more taps to go to ‘become a developer’. Keep tapping until you are a developer. (a toast message will tell you so)
Now Developer Option will be included in setting list of yours now. Go to “Develop Options” to check USB debugging > OK. Done.
In combination with this, I had to download Android File Transfer--- But it's okay with the combined tabs of the internal and external SD card:
http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
Yep, so thats the story.. At least now if other people come over with there android's, I can connect them to my computer no problem. Still though am interested to know about this MTP stuff.. [would be good for knowledge within this thread]
Cheers

The lack of response may be due to the appearance from your signature that you do not have a SGH-T959V. If you don't, you are in the wrong forum.

Hey thanks- I totally understand and realized that after i had posted, but could not remove the thread. I later put one in the proper forum, however..this seemed a bit of a "general" issue so I left the thread in tact here as well.
If there is a moderator out there, feel free to delete it.

So---for the record--I wasn't "too lazy" to find the right forum. My question was fairly common issue with all later rendition of android 4.2.2...I noticed it on a trip I had recently when I could not plug my friends android into my computer due to lack of certain applications to run it on the flyer.
And also--- what you say was not written in there..just a bunch of fanboys talkin' smack about lazy droid users.

sorry guys
I'm still non the wiser. What exactly does this wonderful app do?
Seriously what's this app?
Is it not obvious from the OP? Your battery will last 3x longer. Or more.
all is not very conclusive 2GHZ overclock? WHAT?
3 hours more battery? WHY?
a little more light on what it does or close the thread... sorry
Guys, this video should help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pk6gvBPMa4
200 MB more RAM????
and the last twitter message (if you click on the link follow on twitter) says "you have to pull the battery after it has done its work to finish it"...
seriously, that doesn't sound healthy at all.... besides, if you just understand which buttons to press simultaneously (e.g. power while holding volume down to go into bootloader, etc.), you NEVER have to pull the battery....

I'm not really sure how long you've been around, but I wouldn't just suggest crap.
Some of the other reports of features are incorrect, but this app definitely makes using ADB much easier for you. You don't even need a computer.

[Q] Trouble mounting Nexus S to browse memory

Guys,
I am having trouble mounting the Nexus S built in memory. I enabled USB Debugging but when I plug in the phone I don't get the request to mount I used to have on my Nexus One.
Any ideas? I am sure it's something silly I've missed.
Thanks!
-IlChengis
Have you tried a reformat of the "sd"? One of the reviews I saw said that it was treated like a SD card on any other Android phone. I don't think there are any special instructions on mounting it.
Jealous!!!
I just tried formatting the memory and the "preparing storage" message flashed on the status bar. I then unplugged and plugged the phone back and I finally got the message to enable file transfer.
I don't know if this was caused by the format or if it would have happened by power cycling the phone after enabling USB Debugging, but thanks either way!
-IlChengis
Have you pulled down the notification bar to see if there is a note there about usb? (besides debugging)

Don't be my friend... it just seems like a Galaxy S on steroids. If it weren't for the bigger screen I'd probably keep using my trusty NexusOne.
The non-expandable memory is a step backwards, I'd like to meet the people that made this decision when the phone was being designed. I just don't understand.

[Q] usb popup?

I'm on WolfBreak's Froyo ROM, and im kinda missing the popup that SE had in their 2.1 ROM when you connected usb cable. Does anyone know of an app that can give me something like that?
Thank you.. but that's standardly in wolfbreaks..
You must have a botched flash.
No, I don't think it is. If it was, I'm pretty sure he'd mention it.

Hey now no need flaming me. I'm talking about a popup that pops up right after you plug in the usb cable. Like in the SE 2.1 ROM it has three options. Connect to PC, Install PC COmpanion, and Charge Phone. Not the one in the notification pulldown(if that's what you're referring to).
I AM on the latest version of the ROM... signature.
There is no flashable zip mentioned. Anywhere.
Before you flame someone like you just did me, please consider that you maybe misunderstood their question.
oh sorry my mistake...
well that popup was anoying... so good luck.
it had 3 options...
connect usb "but cm already shows this."
charge phone "same as just pluging in your phone"
install pccompanion.. "removed from CM."
also pc companion is crap. serves no purpose.

[GUIDE] Increase Speaker/Head Phone Volume

All credit goes to Meltus from G1 forum. I use this on my G1 and gave it try my transformer and it worked great.
Please make a nandroid backup before you attempt this.
Please place files attached below in same directory as ADB!!!!!
adb remount (sudo adb remount for linux users)
- wait for the 'remount succeeded' message
adb push AudioFilter.csv system/etc
adb push AudioPara4.csv system/etc
adb push AudioPreProcess.csv system/etc
Please find files attached below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517745 original thread.
thats great wonder how tinny they ate going to get at full blast after this mod.
How big of a difference are we talking here?
its probaably the only thing Im really dissapointed about is the speakers on my Transformer. The speakers on my iPad 2 are so much better than these. A well deserved MOD
Can't seem to get the adb remount command to work. Says I dont have permission.
i tried using everyting in the attached zip, but cannot tell a difference.
after i send the files.. is there a setting i have to turn on?
i tried powering off and on my transformer and theres no difference..
so i'm wondering if i am doing anything wrong?
I would assume that as this is dealing with system access you need to be rooted for this to work, so mentioning that in the first post might be advisable. Also, details on what it actually fixes might be nice. If it's just volume levels then this can easily be done with apps from the market. Cheers.
can you make flashable file m8

Well, not for everything. Only to protected areas of the filesystem.
The changes these file should max out the speaker without distorting the speaker. The transformer speakers is horrible. The edited files should max the speaker even though it is horrible. I noticed the difference when I have the head phone plugged.
Tried this and there was the sound of distortion even with no music playing.
