[Q] Lenovo A660 rooting installing Custom Mod problems - General Questions and Answers

Hello I purchased a Lenovo A660 From ebay 2 weeks ago, I have tried following all forums to root and install custom roms. I am a complete Novice at this as it is my first Android device/smartphone. I have even paid online to have someone Root it, they installed SuperSu and told me it was rooted, but nothing has changed. When I try to install Custom roms I get stuck. My main problem is that I cannot get rid of the chinese apps and install Gapps. Please if there is someone out there who can help it would be great as the seller will not take back the phone now that it is rooted. Anything can help please!!!

A660 rom
Hello!
Five weeks ago I was in the same situation. After trying several roms, I ended up using this one: http://www.needrom.com/mobile/lenovo-a660-etotalk-mod/ . It's rooted and quite stable (some crashes with Strava, but not sure why), fairly light and most important (almost) free of that Chinese crap (no disrespect). The firmware has a modified vold.fstab and it swaps sdcard and sdcard2. Good luck!

[Q] Problems installing Custom ROM on Huawei u8160 (Vodafone 858)

As the title says i have problems installing custom rom on my android phone.
First time i installed a custom rom was 4 months ago and at that time, it worked ! I installed CM7 and it worked with a few small bugs but now i found a better version of cm7 and i tried to install serveral times and it didn't worked.
The custom rom i tried to install was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554530
What steps i followed:
1. I rooted the phone with superoneclick v2.3.3 and it was ok
2. I installed ClockWork Recovery from android market and flash recovery (v5.0.2.8)
3. I selected a custom rom to install and until here it was fine.
So, the phone has rebooted himself and the installing of cm7 began ...
And from here start the problem: After installing, on the screen remains the writing ANDROID like in the picture from the attachement. (the picture is made in paint)
So what is the problem, what i've done wrong ?
This is not the first time i install a custom rom,i know how to install but i don't know what is the problem now ...
Sorry if i posted in the wrong section, but i'm new here
Thank you in advice
can someone help me please, i really need to update android !
no one ?!
i need help with this,i can't figure out why is not working ...
nevermind,i solved myself

[Q] Flashing GoTab 6

Hi All,
I bought a Gotab 6 from Misco about 6 months ago, and I have just found it wont install or update any apps. when ever I tried I just get an error when trying to download. I got in touch with Misco and they have given me a refund and Iv bought another.
I do still have the broken tablet and wanted to know if there's anything I can do? I`m assuming the only real fix is flashing it. Android loads on it and pre-installed apps work fine its just when I try and download anything. I have tried researching if there and custom ROM's available but it looks as if Clockworkmod isn't even supported so it seems a dead issue.
any help or advice would be appreciated.

[Need Help] European Stock ROM - Snapchat

Hey guys, this is my first post here so I'll apologize advance for anything I shouldn't be doing and for being kind of technological illiterate.
Anyway, my problem is this: I have tried to install snapchat countless time before on my phone with no success and after almost 2 weeks of trying to search for a solution I decided to see if any of you could help me. When I try to install it it says the installation was successful but as soon as I try to open the app it stops working with the ''X has stopped working'' warning.
Before using the European stock ROM I was using the ROM installed from factory and before that it hadn't been rooted yet. In these 3 situations the result was always the same.

[Completed] Help w/ Installing CWM on Z3V

Hello, after a good two weeks of frustration and a soft-bricked phone, I'm happy to say that I've finally managed to root my first phone, with huge thanks to various threads on here.
I now, however, have run into another problem. Firstly, I'm using an Xperia Z3V, Android version 4.4.4 w/ build 23.0.E.0.376. I've downloaded BusyBox, ROM manager, ROM Toolbox Lite, and Titanium Backup (all suggested from another thread here). What I'm trying to accomplish is setting up a recovery w/ CWM, but according to ROM manager, my phone isn't supported, nor can I update my ROM (which I'm assuming is because I'm on stock ROM).
How would I go about getting CWM? Would I need Cyanogen, or another ROM in general? Or is the Z3V currently just not supported? Is it necessary to have CWM if I, say, just plan on using my phone for normal activities (I.E., Facebook, YouTube, Emails, etc.). The only thing outside of normal use would be upgrading to Marshmallow.
Thank you, again, for the tremendous help.
Hi
As explained here, XZDualRecovery should work fine on your device.
Please check this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/xperia-z3v-general/guide-sony-xperia-z3v-t3100402
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist,
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport SM-G860P L5.0 Root/ROM/Recovery/Kernel

Hello all, I am relatively new to the android rooting scene. I have looked into it before but always became discouraged by the amount of different informaton from different sources. I am a little bit familiar with flashing processes as I used to install CFW onto Sony PSP and PS3 devices. However there's a lot of new terms that I am soaking in and trying to figure out what it all means when it comes to phone rooting. I am currently using a Sprint Galaxy S5 Sport running Lollipop 5.0, with build number, "LRX21T.PVPU2BOH1" and Kernel "3.4.0-4445742 August 6, 2015". I've been looking around and every time I think I find a reliable source for rooting I see a disclaimer saying only works with certain build numbers, and mine doesn't seem to be any of the builds I have seen. A Google search of my build brings a total of 5 searches wit no information regarding it. Anyways I am looking to successfully root my device, install a working recovery mode, and if possible, install a ROM. I have searched through threads and scrounge up some information about the SM-G860P but not enough for me to go through with the process with 100% certainty of success. I also hope that this thread can be useful to other SM-G860P users and a one stop shop for all the files needed to safely root, backup, and restore files. Basically, I know it can be rooted using Odin and CFAR on Lollipop 5.0. But the steps after that I am unsure. Do I install TWRP, CRM, what ROMS can I install, what kernel do I need. Thanks in advance to any developers or members who can provide all the proper links to attain my goal.
I have a very similar build. I have successfully put on root, and CWM recovery, but, any attempts at custom roms have failed (assuming due to kernel), and I am unable to get tethering working, despite having root.
Followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development/recovery-cwm-s5-sport-sm-g680p-t2907945 for recovery.
I rooted following something like: http://www.android.gs/root-sprint-galaxy-s5-on-android-5-0-lollipop-os/. The key was using the auto root, then flashing the update via CWM. Had to make sure CWM was installed, as flashing using stock recovery caused issues.
Tried to flash CM12 from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development/rom-adulterated-cm12-5-0-2-t2987665
But ended up in a boot loop.
I'm also scared to put xposed framework on, since most saying need to use a custom rom or else phone will bootloop.
Using most of the methods to tether, (like adb settings global or sqlite), tether_dun_required keeps resetting back to 1 after turning on tethering, so, I still haven't found a solution to that. I'd love to hear from anyone who's got tethering working on SM-G860P with lollipop.
