Aokp port testing and permission - Motorola Atrix 2

I have attempted to port aokp 8/21 unofficial to our Edison. I based it in devesh's port of cm10.1.2. I would like a couple testers to let me know about bugs/booting problems since I've sent my atrix 2 for repair. Also do I need permission from devesh and aokp to post this or work on this? Sorry if I did something wrong. Credits to devesh and aokp. Comment with bugs/experience/stability. You will have to boot it on system 1 due to the cm10.1.2 limitation. So make a nandroid backup before you flash.
Steps
1) Wipe/ factory reset
2)Flash Zip from SD card
3)Flash Jbx kernel
4)Gapps (optional)
5)Reboot and download the xda app
Link - I will add link again once I fix a major issue and more importantly I get permission from the original Dev for this aokp. Sorry for the delay.
Thanks !

Does it hav to be system 1?

Yes unfortunately it does. I'm working on getting it to work on other systems but its highly dependent on the cm base.

Since when do we have that issue? AFAIK, we never had that issue and we won't have it..
And no you don't need any one's permission for porting aokp.. Just give credits if you feel someone helped you out..

Sorry, I'm still new to porting and developing and the RAZR cm10.1 required it to be on system 1 a while back. My device is being repaired so I can't say for sure. Thanks for the clarification Ravi and sorry for saying something wrong.

Nice to see someone new try...
And as far as permission goes if you intend on using the ported ROM for your personal use you don't need any permission. But if you're planning on posting or releasing it you need to ask the permission from the person whose work you're using as base to port.In your case that would be the person who built AOKP for RAZR.
If you need any help feel free to ask..
Good luck man...:good:

Thank you sooooo much. You guys(devesh, Ravi, altered, Jim, rdavisct, cogeary, Wang, hashcode) have been giving us a huge variety of Roms and spent an incredible amount of time on edison. I appreciate it and I respect it. I'm trying to do the same, step by step.

Looking for ICS ROM testers (no, it doesn't fully work)

Hi, I am looking for a FEW people to test out some ICS ROMS and report bugs to me. I would like only those who are at least a bit experienced, so that you know what you are doing, but if you are interested please reply here and I will send you a PM if I need you. Please don't flood my inbox with PMs.
Getting a few of you devs would be nice, since you really know what you are talking about.
Thanks

I'm up for testing What are your builds based off of? I've found that I like the AOKP Bionic ones best, in terms of performance and compatibility.
What modifications have you done to them?

all it is for now is the droid 3 aokp and ics builds with modified build.props, just trying to get things out here. Dorid 4 and RAZR builds don't wan't to work for me, I have not tried bionic yet. the droid 3 aokp that I used in my most recent build will not boot, but that may be my fault with the mods, but other ones have worked. known issues so far are no sdcard in cm9, no wifi in cm9, and duh, no radio anwhere.
I'm Game!
I'll try it:cyclops:!
Anyone can feel free to download any builds I put up here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/Motorola_ATRIX_2_Developers/lkrasner/ (in subfolders mostly, so look around as I add more.)
Do not expect them to even boot, and it is not even remotely my problem if something goes wrong with them. make sure you know how to fxz back. Right now CM9 boots, but I do not think AOKP does, you can give it a shot though. Please hold off on bug reports for now, or PM them to me, as I will set up a thread in the dev section later or tomorrow.

[mod] - ics init.d stapler -7/29/2012-

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?
If you are one of the many ICS users (or devs), you may have noticed that it is very difficult to make your tweaks (v6 and car-o-dope especially) stick. Whether or not these tweaks are actually needed is up to the user/dev, i'm just here to bring you the solution to a minor ICS issue.
WHAT THE HECK DOES THIS DO?
This is a flashable .zip file that will essentially inject (or staple as I like to say) the support of the INIT.D script into your current ICS rom. As I said above, this SHOULD (YMMV) allow the support of any tweaks that require the INIT.D script.
WHAT THE HECK SHOULD I DO?
I AM IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU BREAKING YOUR EVO 4G USING THIS MOD!
In order from start to finish:
-Download the .zip file from the download section.
-Place .zip file in the root of your SD card.
-Boot your ICS rom into any AMON RA based recovery.
-(OPTIONAL) Wipe dalvik/cache.
-Flash the .zip file!
-(OPTIONAL) Wipe dalvik/cache.
-Apply your favorite tweaks.
-Enjoy and report any success/failure to this thread.

Every ICS ROM I've flashed, since the beginning of ICS to when I put this out, did not stick with my tweaks.
I made this for myself and decided to release it for the community.

Update Rumor
I was finally able to get the source to download Monday and eventually got it to build yet it doesn't quite work yet since it's 4.2.1  so this will probably need to be put on hold until the 4.2.1 kernel is closer to stable.
Thread Ownership Change
I am turning the ParanoidAndroid thread over to my teammate thomas.raines. He has the 4.1.2 source which is no longer available on GitHub. I appreciate everyone's patience with me in the lack of support I have been able to provide for this ROM. Thomas will do an excellent job.

Is it possible to just port PA? I know the first answer to that would be for me to try myself, but I don't have access to a good 64 bit computer running Linux and I am not allowed to change our only 64 bit computer to Linux or even touch it considering that it is my dad's. I understand that PACman is a thing, because I have recommend it to others before, but I would like to have just plain PA. Just a thought with a nice long monologue about why I can't attempt it myself. That is unless someone would like to inform me that it is possible to port on a 32 but computer xD

[DEV-ONLY] Android L Port

Hi guys,
First I must begin by saying that I am not a developer. However, using this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008) thread, I have managed to "port" Android L to the One, though I have no clue if it even boots. There are a few problems that need to be discussed:
1) AOSP ROMs are around 400 mb? This one is 900+ mb.
2) When I was zipping the ROM, I saw Prism.apk was also in it, and a heck lot of other HTC related things.
3) Will the current kernel for KitKat work smoothly on L?
Anyway, this is my first step to being a potential developer and hope you all get excited for this. I do have one request though, if I can get a few devs to work with me on this, we can get to new heights on our One.
You can download the zip I created here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4JA1Kc3xlxiZUw2XzNzM1NKMVU/edit?usp=sharing
DISCLAIMER:
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR DEVICE GETS BRICKED.
Thanks in advance,

Did you miss the [Dev-Only] in the title? Every flash on your device could brick it if you aren't careful, nothing unique with this build. If you don't want to risk it, don't flash. Simple as that.

But as far as I remember, I did not do anything to it. The base ROM that I used was a stock deodexed Sense 6 ROM and the port ROM I used was the system dump from Android L, if that helps.

Did you miss the [Dev-Only] in the title? Every flash on your device could brick it if you aren't careful, nothing unique with this build. If you don't want to risk it, don't flash. Simple as that.

Okay fine, all I'm saying is there's already a thread on this in the general section so its almost pointless to post something else if it hasn't even been tested or is just like the other. There's already work being done on this...

Im not a dev just a general user but I don't think we should be creating these types of threads if you don't know what you're doing. Let the real devs do their work if it was as easy as following a copy/pasting port guide every device would already have a l build. Just be patient and eventually a nice dev will maybe make some magic happen for us.

This ROM will not work, period. The reason is because you did not follow step 1 of the guide which states quite clearly:
"Take any clean CM9, AOSP, CM7, CM10, CM11 ROM which is running on your device as Base ROM."
Now, don't know about you but I do not think a stock deodexed Sense 6 ROM counts as any of those mentioned in step 1... that is why you are seeing HTC things in the ROM.

Ah. Thanks for pointing that out. I will update the zip file today.

It will not work just by using that guide; The bases are just too different.

no man, you can not do this because we have not a base for L! so it should be ported compiling source and fixing bug and issues...is not a thing that you find in a guide

I think your best bet would be to download the Nexus 5 sources and then do some "patchwork" with HTC One libs and whatnot, when needed. The good thing is that they are both at the same resolution and have similar specs.
And after you're done with that, you should be able to build with a couple of adjustments to various build-related things.
EDIT: Also, there will probably be issues with kernels? so you'll have to work through that also.

You can't be patching and copy/pasting libs. No zip modding when it comes to porting big base changes
You'll need to decompile and redo your ramdisk etc. And like jonny said you can't be using sense and gpe parts

Android L Keyboard in Play Store
I just wanted to note that there's a third-party application "Android L Keyboard" by Shen Le in the Play Store which I've been using on the latest CM11 nightlies that works great.
I understand that's not the point of this project but I just wanted to make sure other users are aware. Also, it's kind of scary to have to trust that a keyboard from the Play Store isn't logging and reporting your keystrokes but that's another issue entirely... anyways I added a screenshot, good luck with the project!
:good:
