issues with 10.1.2, slow,strange behavior - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After to update (10.1.2 ) the device became slow and often it freezes. Even stranger when i plug the device to the AC and then i launch the navigator with 3g connection, the battery discharge, despite i plugged !!!
I don't get it why, but before, with 10.0.0, i did't have these issues !!!

New Fuze new problems

So i got my new fuze and now there is another problem... This is a small problem, when my fuze is connected to pc through USB, it doesnt seem to get charged and the battery goes down pretty fast. I have already unchecked the battery option and changed the phone to turn off in 1 min. The backlight turns off after 30 seconds but screen is still on and so is the phone. I use Energy warhawk8/11 and radio 1.14.25.35, could this be the radio or rom? i have also tried to restart phone and pc and also tweaked the battery options with registry. any help please
check the temperature of the phone. if it's extremely hot then that's why..
By the "battery option," are you referring to start>settings>system>power settings?
Not the option
Yea i meant the setting battery options, its unchecked and i have the timer to shut off after 1 min... the phone syncs fine with comp but doesnt charge and screen doesnt turn off... also the temperature is fine
i probably assumed that you resetted the phone already... If that is still not working, try a new usb cable. you should have plenty lying around (if you have an external hdd you should have a usb - miniusb cable)
When you connect via USB does the phone ask if you want Activesync, file transfer or modem mode?
Active sync
Yes the phone syncs with pc and it says the phone is charging but the battery is draining... It doesnt seem to shut off after 1 min and if i shut it off manually it charges slowly, i also tried diff computer and wire... could it be the rom?

So, now we're getting the information you should have originally posted "it says the phone is charging but the battery is draining". You originally stated that the phone was NOT charging, when in fact it is but draining faster than its charging, right?
When asking for help, it is best to give the best information up front, be thorough in your description, tell us what ROM\Radio you're on, what symptoms you're experiencing, have you tried to fix it, if so -how? etc., etc., etc.... And you had better have searched for a fix first!
You had to have 8 posts to your question because you asked it incorrectly.
Don't look to be spoon fed and don't waste the time of people who are trying to help you.
Now on to your issue,
If you are running WiFi or GPS while sync'd, your battery usage will be greater than the rate of charge. Other things like streaming musiic can do this too.
Also as Thresher stated below and I forgot, your Radio can also cause this which is why you were asked if the phone was gettting hot. Typically the battery gets hot and then stops charging. I flashed back to 1.13 Radio from a 1.14 radio for this reason.
If your battery is just not taking a charge, then its a hardware failure.
Flash a stock rom and radio combo to it. I would use the latest from htc for att. sounds like hardware issues though. Inman is correct.
Hmm
Sry about that inman
Hmm
Sry about that inman
Now for the problem, it charges fine on AC but when connected to pc, the phone doesnt turn off and drains battery even thought its stating charging... I had 1.14.25.35 before and tried stock radio but didnt help. I dont have anything runnung on the phone... One more thing it seems to charge when i manually turn it off from the shut off button, i dont know if i should exchange the phone again for this minor issue
I don't mean to flame you, its just one of the biggest problems with this forum.
It all comes down to read, search, then ask, and offer anything you can.
Its outlined very clearly here.
What you describe doesn't make sense. It should not use more than the charge it receives if nothing else is running.
I do not know of a fix, nor can I replicate this issue.
You could try a battery monitoring program that will show you where you're losing your charge.
I would say, if you can, return it for an exchange.
Dark - you may have a minor issue (depending on what your phone is trying to do) or a major one (if it isnt supposed to be doing it!).
* Whilst on USB your phone can only charge at USB current (i believe 500mA [per passive port], 5v), if your phone is drawing more than 500mA [or others on the same port are], it will (overall) discharge.
* Assuming it IS CHARGING from the USB (and this is kinda significant) then your problem (if it exists) is an excessive discharge.
Basically Bruce is right - if you have your phone drawing a huge current (its working is [email protected]@cks off - and you know this) then this isnt a fault - simpy, a limitation of USB!
* If you don't expect your phone to be drawing a huge current then you need to look into this (charge to 100%, do a soft reset, plug into usb - observe to confirm) flash a new radio, a new rom, stop or uninstall apps - basically see wtf is taking all the juice.
* If the phone isn't charging then this is a different problem again! Check your pc, lead, settings & finally wonder about the phone (or pc) hardware.
If you need help - do everything you can do (or are happy doing), then tell us everything you did - and why - and what you found. Then others can help.
Please don't ever assume something you dont know about is not important - it might be! Someone else might use that info to fault find your problem.
Edit:
Regarding Bruce's comments about not seeing or being able to reproduce this error - i have, in the past, suffered for both "excessive" and "omfg f'ing crazy" battery drain. The latter i solved with a couple of soft reboots - although i had the problem several times, the answer was always a couple of back-to-back soft resets [in these cases, the phone was on the mains charger, and "charging", yet still was drawing too much current & the battery was overall discharging.
In the "excessive" version, i believe (my phone has been repaired & had hw replaced) the problem was the radio - or possibly the radio vs rilphone.dll file. Since these episodes i have a new main board, new rom & new radio so it is impossible for me to say 100% what the cause of my "issues" was, but i'm 95% sure it was radio/rilphone related.
[hmmm, double post - pls delete]

Phone gets hot and discharges battery power when plugged to USB

I've had my Sensation 4G for a while. Recently, I've encountered an occasional, and somewhat alarming, problem when my phone is plugged into the USB port of my laptop. It begins to discharge power very quickly and become very hot (~118+ Fahrenheit). When this problem occurs, the phone becomes so hot that the safety feature of the phone kicks in and stops the flow of power from the computer. I would then have to use the AC adapter to charge my phone. This issue has occurred about 3 times already, so I know it wasn't a fluke occurrence.
Could the current be too unstable for my phone to be plugged into my computer? I have my laptop connected to a power strip that is also shared with my 40-watt sound system and 70-watt fluorescent lamp, though they aren't necessarily used all at once. Or could this be a battery issue? Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks.
Hello,
I've heard of this problem before, not only phones connected to USB but also to the regular charger. Some phones seem to get to a temperature where the housing and/or the sim gets soft. I work at a store of one of the bigger providers in The Netherlands, and if we get a customer with this problem we have to send it back for repairs! Currently we're not aware of the source of this problem, if anyone knows, please share!!
For now my advise is, return the phone
Do you use any taskmanager??? if so DONT!!!
and lose alle batery savers apps to.
if you have root acces boot to recovery and wipe batt states when batt is at 100%

[Q] Random charging interruptions

Hey guys!
After searching and not finding anything on this forum I opened a new thread.
My OPO is great, but sometimes when I try to charge it, it randomly disconnects and then connects again.
It's really annoying, and I'm affraid it is a hardware problem...
When I change the position of the charger and phone, it works fine.
Also, when I use USB OTG, it connects fine, but when I try to open it, first it disconnects, but then works...
Anyone else with similar problems and possibly with solutions?
Thanks!
Same problem here.
I settet up a sound for charge connect and disconnection.
Sometimes when the phone lies charging on the table, the sound pings like 8 times in the row showing 4 random disconnects.
Without touching the phone, it then continues to charge normaly.
Dont know what to do as a solution.
Any suggestions? dont have an other charger to test it, at the moment...
The problem seems to be with the charger itself. When charging with a samsung charger, there is no problem. The two pin connector of the charger is not getting connected in the socket properly. If you hold the charger firmly in place, the phone charges normally. I think we need to change the charger...
When i try mounting otg....its mounts and disconnects with " usb removed unexpectedly"
Got any clue???
Im getting mad day by day
Same problem here. It is the charger. The cable is fine and is charging well with HTC charger. I found this video. Exactly the same problem. Any help for repair is appreciated OnePlus One charger issue: http://youtu.be/h_vP-KtDpBY
the problem is with ur mobile data.
turn off the mobile data and put it on flight mod then charge it. That's the bug.
this occours on certain networks while on 2g network...switching to 3g or charging on airplane mode solves the issue ...
anyone facing this issue ,Add your vote here and comment
I have already uploaded bugreport on cyanogenmod bug tracking service
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-2490
Have exact same issue with cm 13 snapshot. Really annoying. And no news from cm team for a so looong time.

GPS and compass Inaccurate when plugged in

I have searched on forums and other places and i can not find a solution. When i have the phone plugged in, the GPS and compass are just not accurate. but when i disconnect it, it fixes itself within 10 seconds.
i tried using the gps status and toolbox app, and it should a good signal when plugged in or not. it just seems odd that 1 app works fine, and the others freak the hell out.
any help would be appreciated.
I tried turning on just GPS only. turning izat off, and nothing seems to work.

Your compass can act up while charging because of the electricity coming through creating an electromagnetic field. Nothing you can do there. Now for your gps, use google maps for awhile. Thats gonna be the most accuarate and compatible app. Try it for a while. If it doenst even work properly, then you may have a broken antenna or faulty OS

yea, maps and pokemon go don't register me moving or if it does it's very jumpy (every 100-200 yards) when plugged in. once i unplug it moves almost instantly to where i am and is very smooth.

What phone do you have and what android version are you running?
ATT LG V10 (hence the sub form)
android 6.0.0
i did a bit more testing and it seems to get worse with quick charge running (got one for my car charger) regular charge is not as bad, but when not charging its perfect.
I still find it hard to believe that the charging is giving off that much interference.
also tested gps toolbox, and it worked great standing still in any state, but once i start moving, the GPS satellites just drop like flies with any kind of charging.
Pokemon go when charging never puts me in the right place and when moving dosnt register the move for at least 100 yards, and sometimes never until i either unplug or reload the location toggle off and on.

will try next weekend. i will not have a chance until then. i'll report back when i try it.
I'm experiencing the same issues with my V10. I'm currently on a road trip and I cant use my GPS for Google maps while the phone is plugged in. As soon as I plug the phone in to the charger the GPS loses signal after about 30 seconds. I have to unplug the phone for about 10 seconds before the GPS starts working again. I know for a fact that my phone didn't do this when I first bought it. It is frustrating to say the least. I'm wondering if the upgrade to Android 6.0 may have broke something. I did read on another site multiple users having the exact same issue.

I always tell people to check the port clean it with a toothpick, Also try diffrent charger or block but dont think those would give symptoms u say.
may be something shorting it out in the port so like said try to clean it first.

If TWRP shows otherwise, try to install another ROM to see if things have changed. If not, It's definitely a hardware problem.
