[Q] How to install a ROM - Sony Xperia L

Hello everyone!
I'm a really noob on this area and I can't install a ROM first of all, ofc, I searched info, but all infos are not especific and I don't understand nothing..
I have Bootloader unlocked and I doed this procedure:
1. Install Android SDK and flashed kernel with "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (I tryed Vengeance Kernel and Thunderzap) and I rooted terminal.
2. I can't go to recovery for install the zip file of the room, I tried it 20 times on each kernel and nothing, (vengeance dual recovery too).
Power up + vol down, Power up + vol up and nothing...
3. I installed ClockWorkMod ROM Manager, and neither.. option reboot and go to recovery, don't works, phone is powerup as normal, same as install ROM from SD.
I flashed kernel before install the ROM because I read on the forums, CWM dont have a proper version for Xperia L, the only way is with vengeance or thunderzap.
I saw on other sites, "fastboot flash recovery" but not tried it.
What I need to do? I need to use "recovery" instead "boot" on fastboot command??
Thank you everyone!

please... help???

Try to flash boot.img (Vengeance/ThunderZap kernel) via flashify app (need root access).
To enter cwm/twrp on Vengeance/ThunderZap kernel, you just turn off and the turn on again (restart/reboot) you phone, wait until the LED turns up (purple) and then press (twice or more) vol. up/down (cwm) or power off button (twrp). I hope this can help you

[Q]Reboot into bootloader without power button

Hi,
The power button of my transformer is broken :
I can't power on the device, but I can light on/off the screen.
In order to fix it, I've got to send it to the customer service, but before I need to flash it back to stock.
To flash it I need to go to bootloader or download mode (I dunno what volume+/power is??)
Here is the thing, I did some searches and I tried :
- via adb
- directly from the terminal emulator
- via some widgets with boot mode selection
None of these work, all these methods make the transformer perform a normal reboot.
I'm rooted, and my rom is one of the first ICS beta Revolver.
I just need to flash it back to stock.
Thx in advance.
Reboot into bootloader without power button
Hi fastreward,
It should be possible to boot into recovery from software; for example, I've seen Megatron Parts (for Megatron ROM) boot into recovery after downloading some Plugin.
ROM Manager has an option to reboot into recovery, have you tried it? I think I used one of the options of ROM Manager to update something in my phone (not the ROm nor in my tablet) because it was part of the process, and I believe it rebooted into recovery.
Hope it helps so you can restore your Transformer to STOCK and send it to service.

Vol up + power button get you into APX mode.
(Good only if you're SBK v1 for NVFLash)
If you have CWM recovery, this will boot you into it.

If you have CWM recovery, just download an official firmware from Asus website.
Extract the zip file from within, put it on your sd card (or where ever CWM can see it)
Flash the zip file and once reboot you'll be unroot with stock recovery.
(Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before flashing)
If you can get the tf to do a normal reboot, just hold down the Volume-Down button as it's doing that, and when the screen pops up it will ask checking-for-rck then press volume up to boot into the recovery image, no power button required. (note you do need it to select in recovery, unless you have touch version)
Alternative hold vol-up while soft rebooting to go into APK (sbkv1 only)

Restart loop after update

Hello,
Yesterday there was an update for the Moto G, I confirmed to do the update. Since then the phone is in a reboot loop. I mean it doesn't matter what ever I do,the phone restart itself in every 2-3 minutes. The phone is rooted.
I've tried to do a factory reset from the setting, however nothing happens when I want to erase the settings. In the bootloader if I chose Recovery or Factory reset, the phone reboots.
I've got a tip that I should remove the update file from the /chace directory, however I don't know how to do so,as the phone keeps reboot itself.
The only place, where the phone is not restarts is in the bootloader.
Is there any way to somehow solve this problem without flash a stock rom ?
Thanks for your help!
Regards,
Péter
The same here. Help!

You have to press volume up instead of power to choose something in fastboot menu.
Unroot and if used custom recovery go back to stock recovery.

How should I do the unroot ? I find this solution, but I can't post the link,as I didn't have 10+ posts... its in the site unlockr and there's an article about moto g unroot.
However I can't enable the usb debug,as the phone restart faster, than I'am able to do this.
Yes I know I have to press volume up,however if I chose recovery it's reboot itself,so I'am not able to select Recovery from the bootloader.

My is rooted and cwm 6.0.4.6
May be we must do something with fastboot command
my GF's Moto G did the same thing, luckily it was a simple fix.
I had already rooted her stock 4.4.2 and installed CWM Recovery 6.0.4.6.
If you havent installed, CWM or TWRP, then I recommend to do so by fastboot command and the recovery.img.
Here is the forum link to install CWM Recovery for your Moto G:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563599
So I just Powered Off the phone. Then go back into the CWM Recovery by:
- hold down Volume Down and hold down Power Button for about 4-5 secs
- then let them go and you will see the Fastboot menu
- Press Volume Down (to highlight Recovery)
- then Press Volume Up (to select and go into Recovery, in this case the custom recovery)
- then just Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache
- then Reboot Phone.
Done.
I think I will install CM11 for her and not have to deal with the stock ROM that gets official updates pushed onto it causing issues like this.

I see, however It's not possible on the phone. If I select the Recovery and I press volume up -> phone reboots
You mean this.
Download Stock image, extract.
Go to fastboot mode and flash following.
If you used Superboot method then use:
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
Click to collapse
if you used the modified recovery method:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

The general command to install a custom recovery in Fastboot is:
fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_image.img

Yes, I mean that,so if I follow this guide, then it will help ? I used the followin from modaco site -> Root your Moto G - option 1: Superboot
@kokonai OH? I thought unroot is essential?
I guess u used the modified recovery to root?

At the moment i am confused. But yeah i'm assuming it will work.
Cause if i understand it right, the superboot method is a modified kernel.
So you should flash motoboot.img.
There are several ways now. Either you flash cwm and wipe /cache as described above.
Or you flash motoboot and then , in my opinion, it should work.

I used the method to root the phone what is on that site,I followed that description and it worked. I'am not an expert in it,so I just followed PaulOBrien guide,so I can't answer for it for sure.
At this point I'am really desperate as the phone is completely useless, so I don't care even if I had data loss,as I can't access it anymore, nor save it to my PC.
In my knowledge, which seems not to be true anymore, the phone needs to be stock to install any update.
I am not talking about installed apps. It is more about system partition, recovery, kernel and so on.
I would try now to flash the motoboot.img and see what happens.
If this does not work i would flash cmw and try what was mentioned above.
Sure you can go completly stock. But in my view you are not that lost.
I'll stay with you
......but max 5 hours =)

Thanks! However I can try it out only after 20 UTC.
However I have an idea, but maybe I'am wrong.
What happens if I try the chace wipe via in command line, I mean:
mfastboot erase cache
This should delete the cache right ? Shouldn't this command remove the problematic update file ?
Oh yeah this should be also an option.
But you'll come again to that point where you wanna install the update?!

I want to give it a try. Yes,however I don't have to install the update. But I think I will flash a stock rom, make the update and then re-root the phone.
Thank you guys, I was going crazy with this rebooting problem. So now it is fixed, but how can I get the update? Noway?

I was able to enable the usb debugging, and then to start the bootloader. However If I connected the phone and tried to execute the adb reboot-bootloader command it didn't worked. So I restarted the phone and entered into the bootloader, then I've done the following:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
After the first command, the phone rebooted into bootloader, then the second command finally cleared the chace. Now my uptime is more then 8 minutes,so the phone is working great now
However I will do the complete process on the weekend, but not now as I'am really tired, but I will flash a stock rom at the weekend.
Possible solution...
Just started a thread with a possible solution

[Q] I can't reboot onto recovery

Hi! I'm trying to install a cm rom in my xt926, I have the bootloader and, aparently, I can flash properly the custom recovery, but when I try to reboot onto recovery it doesn't work, shows the motorola logo and, after 1 or 2 minutes, reboot normally, and I can´t enter the recovery to flash the cm rom... Anyone can help me? I don't know what else to do... A lot of thanks.
Sorry for my bad english
I have this Problem as well! Stock KK on XT926 build 183.46.10.XT926.Verizon.en.US. I've tried all the methods I could find.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If it is and you can really flash recovery while in fastboot mode - what do you do after that? Reboot the phone into Android and then try to reboot into recovery? If you're doing that, then that's the problem.
You need to reboot to recovery straight from fastboot, otherwise the stock system deletes the custom recovery. When you flash the recovery - unplug the cable and just press the power button once and the phone will turn off. Then hold Volume UP + Power and the boot menu will show up and then you select recovery and you should be good to go
Solved!
I've found the solution! I've flashed the wrong recovery. My stock rom is kit kat 4.4.2, this recovery works very fine

[Q] My phone is almost dead! Help please!

Hello my friends
I was running official lollipop for my m8sw Chinese unicome version.
But i wanted to use Bindroid Rom, So i did s-off, unlock bootloader, Twrp recovery, change cid to 11111111
The ROM was installed but there are bugs with the both SIM cards, i decided to try changing to EU version
I couldn't flash the stock recovery and installed the ROM though bootloader But then the phone is not boating
What i have now is only black screen with red triangle and exclamation mark! NO recovery and can't connect to fastboot or adb
Any suggestion, please.
Hi,
Try to removed sdcard from phone.
Press power + Volume down (> 10sec) should be reboot and go to bootloader. If not try Power+volume UP + Volume down (>10sec).
Flash TWRP recovery (EU).
Clear Dalvick Cache and normal reboot.
Good luck!

You can copy your data from your internal storage to the external sd without pc. Download the Aroma File Manager from here https://www.google.gr/url?sa=t&sour...ggaMAA&usg=AFQjCNEH8YsLeZ9hUCaOmQXRhJ2Yh2eYCA
boot in cwm and install it. Don't worry, it will not install anything, it will just open a file manager.

[UPDATE] I've flashed the ROM and it's up and running now. The issue now is most of the apps can't start/keep crashing.
Maybe because I didn't wipe the data. Thoughts?

You absolutely need to wipe the data and cache and dalvik cache. If you don't do that when flashing a rom you will probably have such or worse problems. (Before flashing you should also wipe system)
