FAT32 won't show up - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi!
My current setup is (was?) CROMi-X with Hund's 3.2.0 kernel + DATA2SD. I wanted to wipe and reflash everything from the beginning. I took my Sandisk 64GB microSD (which was working like a charm before) to repartition it in gparted. I set two primary partitions, first is a 8GB FAT32 partition, the rest of the card is an ext4 partition with boot flag. I shoved the card into my laptop to put some zips, as usual.
Well, the problem is that my tf700 doesn't see my 8GB partition, both under ES File Explorer and TWRP. I can't flash ROM beacause I can't select microSD in TWRP, and I can't copy it to internal memory, beacuse there is no ext_card directory...
If someone knows how to make FAT32 appear under TWRP again I would be really thankful

please help sd card problems

ok here is my situation i am running a rooted g1 with amon ra 1.5 recovery and cyanogen 4.2.12.2, i used the partitioning function from the recovery options to format my sd card , now that i have the fat32 , ext3, and swap partition i was able to move my cache and apps to the sd and everything is working great, the problem i am now having is i cannot access the fat32 partition , the mount/unmount option is faded i can see how much space is on it but i cannot put any of my files back on the card it also doesnt give me the option to mount the sd card anymore when i plug it into my computers i have tried it on my mac, windows xp laptop and my asus eee linux laptop
any help would be great thanks
You have probably corrupted the partition table somehow.
If you don't have anything precious on the card, try to wipe it and start over.
But since i know life i'm almost sure you have files there that you wish not to lose.
Tell me, did you format all the partition after creating them?
Did you unmount/re-mount the partitions after creating/formating and BEFORE you copied any files to them?
If the answer to any of the above question is "no", you've probably screwed up.
Regards,
Bushman
No I partitioned the card using amon ra recovery 1.5 it has the option to do the ext2, Swap and the fat 32 partitions all at once I did 96m swap 512ext2 and then upgraded it up to ext4 and left the remaining for fat32 , when I save files it does put them in the fat32 patitition I believe since my ext4 partition does not loose any space and I already ftp'd most of my files back to the card that would easily exceed the 512m partition I just can't get the mount option to come up now when I plug it into my computer other then that everything works perfectly
open console and type "dmesg", then insert the card and type it again, compare the few last lines, if there's anything diferent saying about MMC/SD, post it here (only the card related stuff)
Good luck,
Bushman

[Q] Desire can only find SD Card in Recovery

Hi,
I was finally able to partition my 16GB Micro SD HC Class 4 SD Card using minitools.
FAT32 at the front, Primary, and EXT2 afterwards, logical.
I can drop files onto the FAT32 partition and flash the ROM in recovery, but when I reboot it can't find the card.
If I then change the card to my old 4GB Samsung SD it is fine.
When I partitioned the 4GB card using ROM Manager, which I couldn't do with the 16GB one, it created an EXT3 partition.
Is there anything I can do, or is it simply the card?
Cheers
As an update, I put the card in my wife's Blackberry this morning to see if that could see it and it said it wasn't formatted and did I want to? Yes I said.
I could now see it on my Desire and was able to partition it using ROM Manager.
Looking at it now, the second partition is ext3 and is primary, not logical.
I've no idea why this happened but I'm hoping it will all be fine when I flash a new ROM.

[Q] SD Card Not Detected

Hi,
I have just bought a 32GB SD Card from Amazon. Komputerbay Class 10.
I have been running Sandvold's ICS ROM for the last month and all was fine, but I wanted a faster SD card.
I used Easeus Partition Manager using Windows XP and I created a 1GB ext2 partition after a FAT32 Partition.
However, I made it logical and wasn't able to change it to Primary, so I created another ext2 partition, this time Primary.
So, FAT32 partition of 28GB ish Primary, ext2 of 1GB Primary then ext3 of 1GB logical.
However, although my PC can see the FAT32 partition, my Desire cannot.
It can however see it in recovery which allowed me to flash the ROM etc.
Any ideas please?
Cheers
Perhaps you can format the card from the recovery, using 'Partition SD' option.

I read that it was not a safe thing to do to partition that way, but there shouldn't be a problem formatting that way?
But unfortunately not.
Still undetected.
I can put the old one in and it is found, so pretty sure it's not the phone.
As an update, I've just tried formatting to NTFS then back to FAT32 without joy.
Also, the ext2 does work as I had 988 MB of internal memory at one stage yesterday.
GPart Live worked a treat. All sorted.
The drivers on the laptop I used rendered the screen almost unreadable whilst using it, but at home it was fine.
I had a very similar problem: i create an ext3 partition and a fat32 one, but when i plugged the phone o the pc i cannot see any memory... After several tryouts, i made both the partition primary, BUT i place the fat32 at the beginning. And everything works fine xD

CWM or TWRP RECOVERY and exFAT or NTFS

I hope this is appropriate for the Development forum as it relates to the two recoveries here - CWM 6.0.1.4 and TWRP 2.3.0.0. I have previously posted in both those threads. I have not seen any comments about problems so it would be good to know if I am not alone.
I have the 64Gb version of the TF700T with JB (unfortunately, no NVflash).
I have been using the Sandisk 64Gb UHS1 card. It came formatted with exFAT and was one of the few that worked OK under the original firmware. I could not get either CWM or TWRP to see the card at all in recovery mode.
I found a spare 16Gb card that was formatted in Fat32. That worked fine and mounted without a problem under both CWM and TWRP.
I then did a full format of the 16Gb card under Windows 7 to exFAT and it would not work. With CWM I tried a simple backup and got 'Can't mount backup path'. Then tried to Mount /sdcard and got 'Error mounting /sdcard'. In TWRP I could not select or mount the card.
Next I did a full format to NTFS. With CWM I still have the same problem. With TWRP it allows me to select the card and it can be browsed in TWRP's File Manager. However, when I try to create a backup I get an error creating backup path.
Is it just me or can no one properly mount and backup direct to the external card with CWM or TWRP when the card is formatted in exFAT or NTFS?
As the 64Gb card cannot be formatted with Fat32 then does that mean I will not be able to use my 64Gb card and backup direct to the card?
TIA
norm
EDIT: The precise error I am getting from TWRP is 'E:Unable to create folder: /external_sdcard/TWRP (errno=30)'.
It has to be FAT32 for some reason. I had the same issue so I bought a cheap card just to have an SD Card with my nandroid backups on it.
NTFS mounts as read only in TWRP which isn't all that useful but that's due to the kernel. exFAT has a much stricter license than regular FAT so I doubt that you will ever see exFAT support in a Linux kernel.
Maybe I will dabble with the kernel config & try to get NTFS to mount writable.
What about ext4, is it possible to format in ext4 and have android recognize it and the recovery... just a thought since Linux does support it and IMO ext4 is superior to fat32 and ntfs.
Moved to correct board (hint, unless you actually POST development, it doesn't belong on development......)

[Q] Data2SD unable to install Cromi

I have formatted my micro sd card (samsung class 10 64GB) in Gparted with 1 FAT32 partition of 8GB, and the rest is EXT4.
Furthermore I have the following files on my FAT32 partition:
data2sd-jb42-that0_modByHundsbuah.zip
hundsbuah_v3.2.0-OC_JB4.2.1.zip
CROMi-Xenogenesis ODEX 4.7.0_Signed.zip
mount-data2sd.zip
First off, my TWRP 2.5.0.0 gets stuck on the splash screen with the sd card inserted, so I have to take it in and out again. Then, I flash the mount-data2sd.zip, and then I want to do a wipe. However, after this is done, the files on the FAT32 partition are no longer visible in TWRP and I'm unable to install anything more. What am I doing wrong in the process of installing Cromi on my SD card?

It looks like the TWRP can not read your External SD card. You probably need to format your External SD again. There are a few things you need to pay attention.
1. Your first partition is a fat32 and set it as a primary partition.
2. Your second partition is ext4 and set it as a primary partition also.
After a reformat, you can try to use TWRP again and hope that it can read your SD. Good luck.
I've done it twice, but I guess third time's the charm. Going to try with different software and see what happens
The same thing happened when I Tried it again.
Booting into TWRP with SD card inserted will cause the splash to be shown until the card is taken out
So I take the card out, and I'm ready to flash files from the fat32 part of my card. I flash the mount-data2sd file, then press back. Now, at this point the Cromi file itself didn't appear on the card so I press home. Trying to access the memory card again, no files show up this time...
I fail to see why, but what am I doing wrong?

Do you have another SD to try out? It could be something wrong with the one that you are using. It looks like you still can access to your external SD once when you first insert it in. These are the options you can try them out. First, when you first insert your SD, you need to copy all the files that you have from the external SD to your internal SD. From there, you can install from your internal SD. Second, when you first insert you SD, you need to install the cromi x first. When you have it up and running, you can connect your device to your computer and transfer all the file that you need to install data2SD. Good luck.. :fingers-crossed:
