From the creators of Sliding Messaging Pro (@klinkdawg24 and I), we wanted to announce our newest project for you guys today! Sliding Emoji Keyboard!
Play Store description:
This is a standalone keyboard that we have created with our app Sliding Messaging Pro. It is baked into that app, so there is no need to download here if you are only using it for that app, but we wanted to add it for anyone to use, even if you don't support us through that app.
This keyboard only supports Google's new Google+ emojis, the ones in their hangouts app.
NOTE: This app will NOT actually show the emojis in the text box or on the device unless your system supports them! Please understand this! We have no way to add support for that from this app. If you would like to get that working, you will have to have a rooted phone and change the system font to one that supports Google's emojis.
Even though it doesn't show them correctly in the text boxes, when you send the message/tweet/email or whatever you are using it for, they will show up correctly, again as long as the app supports Google's new emojis. The recipient will receive them fine as well, as long as their phone has emoji support. They will be received fine on any iOS devices and any messaging app for Android that supports them. Almost all do by now.
To actually see the emojis in the app, you will have to install an app that supports them. Examples of this would be: Sliding Messaging Pro, WhatsApp, Hangouts, and many more, you will have to find out yourself if the app you want to use our keyboard with supports them.
--- How to Enable/Use ---
To enable the "Sliding Emoji Keyboard", go to Settings -> Language & Keyboard, then check the "Sliding Emoji Keyboard" to enable it.
To use "Sliding Emoji Keyboard", you need to change the input method:
- In Android 2.3 and below, select "Sliding Emoji Keyboard" from the dialog that comes up after long pressing on any text box.
- In Android 4.0 and above, drag down the notification tray when a text box is selected, then select "Sliding Emoji Keyboard" after switching the input method.
--- REMEMBER ---
As I said above, you won't be able to see all the emojis on the device! Sometimes they will show up as a blank space and usually they will show up as aiona black and white image of the selected emoji. THIS IS FINE. THEY WILL SEND CORRECTLY to all your friends that have support for them (again, iOS users and any Android messaging apps that have the emojis in them).

We think that it turned out very well. Looks great and supports Google's new emojis.
Some notes for Sliding Messaging Pro users:
- this app is baked right into Sliding Messaging (for an upcoming update), so you don't have to download this keyboard to use it
- This keyboard is available anywhere in the system though if you do download it, so if you want to use it with other apps, twitter, email, ect. you will have to download it.
- We did it a little differently in Sliding Messaging to increase funtionality. It is the same concept here, just isn't able to actually display the emojis on the edittexts, where as it is able to do this in sliding messaging. So just know this, as it is explained in the description.
Let us know what you think
Link may not be live yet on the play store, but it will be soon!
About time someone is doing this. Thank you. Good first release, just reporting something I noticed. When I do a long hold on the back button to delete all text and emoji, then try to do the emojis again, it's unresponsive for a few seconds then shows just blank spaces where they would be (in regular MMS app). Have to back out then go back in to seen them again.
Looking forward to more releases.

Feel like I should also mention, the goal of this keyboard is to be usable with any other keyboard out there easily. We didn't want to compete with swiftkey or swype or anyone else, so this is kind of an add on to any other keyboard. As a little tip, you can hold down the space bar (at least on the stock keyboard) to get to the keyboard switcher and then select the sliding emoji keyboard and when you are done, hold down on the delete button and it quickly switches back to your previous keyboard.
Just put up version 1.20. This one contains a favorites tab that automatically stores your most used emojis. Great for quick access!
People are missing out! This is the best ive downloaded!
For anyone who is interested and likes Sliding Emoji Keyboard, I just put up a version that uses all the iOS 7 emojis instead if you prefer those!
The download will be here:

Give it a few hours and it will be showing up, Google takes some time to process it. Enjoy and tell your friends

thankyou so much, i asked about ann app of this kind after using go sms and loving the contacts search style in that. top app, top quality dev team!
Does not have Facebook Pictures syncing. None of my contacts have pictures. I'd really like to use this APP, but that's a huge deal breaker for me until it is fixed.
That's a limitation of Android. Install photo unlocker from the market and it will fix the issue.

Are there other alternatives? I hope GO Contacts have a root version which unlocks photo.
cool, switched to go sms last night, just installed this. looks good. needs theming options
Congratulations! It's perfect!!!! I really love the possibility to merge accounts because I had problem syncing my nexus one with google server and it copied my contacts 3 or 4 times. Now it's perfect! The only problem is to click "Merge" on every duplicate .-.
its cool app.
Man everything the Go Dev team touches is awesome.....a theme for this would be perfect. Way cool
Happened to stumble across this. Looks and feels great. Will put it to the test!
YES!
I was just waiting for them to release an app like this! I never liked youlu and have been using the stock app.
Going to try this out now. I think I'm turning in to a Go! Fanboy. They just need someone to check their english
I really love your launcher and SMS application, but I stick with rocketdial for now...

It works great! It would be cool to have an optional skin to mimic the standard Gingerbread skin, tho... Right now it's too much iPhone-ish imho

Those contact pictures are from japanese pornz. lol
This looks promising.
It is a cool app to filter through contacts quickly
But then if I select one contact from the main list, I get the detailed view from the stock application.
Is this how the app is supposed to behave or do I have to change some settings?
By the way, after installation the app changes name from go contacts to go dialer
Another excellent app from GO team. I searched for a good contacts app alternative and I think I will stick with this. One important think missing only: support of other language letters in dialer. I'm interested for greek alphabet. If you plan to support this future, these are the letters:
Code:
--- ΑΒΓ ΔΕΖ
ΗΘΙ ΚΛΜ ΝΞΟ
ΠΡΣ ΤΥΦ ΧΨΩ
And if you plan to support localization, I can make the greek translation too.
Just let me know.
This app drains battery. I have been tracking it's behaviour for several hours via Watchdog Task Manager (refresh every minute) and it reported Go Contacts every 5-15 minutes. CPU usage was usually around 5-6%. Why is it running in the background in sleep mode?
Secondly, there is a bug with Go Dialer - sometimes (very, very often) clicking on the shortcut on the homescreen doesn't activate dialer. It's just not responding to touch. Then I have to re-add it to start working again. One more thing - the default icons are really ugly - it feels almost like iPhone, which is an awful thing for me. Uninstalled, but I'll keep watching the development.
im really liking this app....anyway to integrate Gosms into this?...that would be awsome!
In case anyone is interested, a quick app I put together which provides a large keyboard, with both numbers and letters, which lets you launch navigation to an address very quickly.
The big keyboard is great for typing addresses in while the phone is on a car dashboard.
The separate numbers are dead useful if you live somewhere like the UK, with number /letter postal codes, as you don't have to keep switching to get the number bits.
Works great from Google Car Home.
Supports launching Google Navigation or Google Maps.
Choose UK/US and French and German keyboard layouts, or set your own custom layout.
Also supports working as an input method for use with any other in car navigation application. You can use an app such as Tasker to automatically switch input method when your phone is in car mode.
I don't like posting apk files, so it is free on the market, it is called quickgo.
Any comments / bug reports etc. welcome.
Cheers,
Joe
Looks really great! Its now on the first slot of my Car Home However, would it be possible to add an option to change layouts? I'm normally using a German keyboard, which has the Y and Z exchanged - the Umlaute are not required as google normally doesnt need them either.
One way would be maybe to create a textfile on the SDcard with your orginal layout, so that would mean the file would consist of 37 chars, 1-0 and Q-",". If the user wants to place for example the M where the Q is he just exchanges these two chars in the file and then loads them from your app
Super simple and easy to use and easy to see when in my mount.
Great work.
A great little app, works great when not in my car mount, will report back after I've tried it in the car.

Edit, tested it and it works great, but the system doesn't pick it up as one of the available keyboards. Is that coming soon ?
Found some info about input methods here.
I was hoping I can switch to this keyboard automatically via a 'car mode' profile (tasket/setting profiles/etc)
works great
very smooth, very simple, very good.
what about an option or preference setting for the result to show up in maps instead of going straight to navigation?
Cheers all,
am in the process of adding French / azerty, German / quertz and user defined keyboard support. Hopefully will finish and post an update this weekend if not earlier.
Good idea about preference to launch maps, that should be dead easy to stick in, it's just a single line change to launch something different.
Britoso - right now it isn't a full input method, just a single app, optimized to be easy to see in a car, and set up so it goes directly to navigation. I just have it in place of the navigate icon in my car home. I can't really see it being much use for other things, emails, texts or whatever, as it deliberately doesn't support things like punctuation, lower case etc. in order to make most efficient use of the screen space.
It would make a good keyboard for almost all navigation apps Shouldn't be too much more work.
Right, the latest version (0.3) now supports German and French keyboard layouts, and also lets you set your own layout if you want something other than QWERTY / AZERTY or QWERTZ.
It also has a preference you can set to launch maps instead of launching straight into navigation.
Looking at the input method stuff it looks like it isn't super hard, like you say, it can probably use most of the same code, hopefully I'll find some time to play with that soon. It would be convenient for use with other navigation apps like CoPilot which might not support being launched with an address.
Joe
Just perfect! Thanks!
cant making it ANY easier than clicking my icon and entering an address
Would it be possible to link the app to google maps instead? I use it more than the full navigation. Other than that, it is perfect and a great solution.

As if by magic an update appears. Now supports running as an input method for sick puppies who wish to use it as their keyboard.
Use something like Tasker or similar profile app to change input method when you put your car in car mode.

Excellent app.
Hey, it's me again. You may be using my apps like Mario Live Wallpaper, Video Live Wallpaper, or WiimoteController. This time I come with a completly free (early) Christmas present to you guys at xda-devs and all other users of my apps!
I present to you... App Dialer
App dialer is an app launcher that can be used to find installed apps and start them very quickly. Today's Android devices have a lot of memory that users often spend on apps and games. Some users have as much as 400 applications installed on their device and navigating a list of apps or swiping between screens and screens of app icons just to find one can take a lot of time.
App Dialer can be used to quickly filter a large list of apps down to just a few or even just one item in just a few seconds.
There are a few app launching apps out there but what sets App Dialer from the rest is the way app list is filtered. Instead of using an awkward on-screen QWERTY keyboard, App Dialer comes with a built-in numeric keyboard. You can just dial out apps' names just like you would dial a spellable phone number. Button 2 represents A, B or C, button 3 represents D, E or F, and so on. Want the Browser? Dial 2769737 (spelled "browser"). Want the Gallery? Dial 4255379 (spelled "gallery"). It is that easy!
Having a numeric keyboard means having big, easy to hit buttons that can be hit quickly and accurately with only one hand. The app list updates and shrinks as you dial so there is a great chance that you will not have to dial the complete name before the app is already going to appear on the top of the list. With some practice (you might already have years of practice writing SMS messages this way) you will be able to launch any app on your device in three seconds or less, regardless of how many apps you have installed.
App Dialer highlights:
easy to use
can be started by long-pressing the search button (if your device has it)
can be started via a notification icon
starts fast, can be made even faster by turning off icons
quick dial for up to 10 favorite apps
pin selected apps to the top of the list
donation-supported, but otherwise free and ad-free!
This app is completly free. However it is donation-supported like all of my other apps. If you find it useful, please consider donating.

Sorry about double posting, but I've just made another update. Details in the second post.
How is the importance order set? Does it keep a count of which app we choose more when we click them in app dialer? Great feature! It has really improved the speed and relevance of the result, I rarely use my app drawer thanks to this app

No, it's simpler than that. It is a combination of the alphabetical order and the position of the match (ie. the sooner the match is found in the app's name, the more important that app will be).
How can I make this the default app over the Google search box apk?. I move it to system and rename but still wants the long press to active the app.

Hi guys,
my name is Daniele and i'm the developer of PureContact.
I want to talk about my app.
With PureContact you can contact your friends through the use of gestures (swipe up, swipe down, swipe left, swipe right) or through double tap.
Through these simple actions you can recall the whatsapp conversation with the selected contact, send text, write an email or call.
Just long press on blank screen and add your favourite contact. Then you can choose the default photo contact or select one in your gallery.
Pick up one numbers and one email (if the contact have more than one) and just press save.
Go to the settings menu and choose the actions for the swipe.
Now you can use gestures to send text, whatsapp, email or call.
The app was released last night. I already have in mind a few features to be included in the next updates (such as the ability to write messages via facebook or twitter, add themes and other options), but in the meantime I would like to arrive at a stable version and a zero bug (I hope there aren't, but as all the early beta versions of any application I'm afraid that something will come out).
PureContact is free and is available on the Google Play Store.
If you have questions, found bugs, suggestions or requests, just ask
Thank you for your help and support.
Daniele
Installed it. I like the look of the app. Will try out and give feedback.

I'm wondering, all my contacts are on Google's servers. Does this app support downloading / editing / updating these contacts? Furthermore this looks like a brilliant alternative to the boring stock people app.

Awesome!!!
I like your idea about how to interact with the icon, very clever!
just only one issue from me;
the (circle)border of people icons seems not smooth right now, the thumb(contact image) inside the circle is not smooth also.
Another thing, I suggested that the size for the contact icon might be bigger.
It looks stunning, I must say!
I'll be closely following development

Very nice concept, good work. Any way you could possibly squeeze in another row to have a dozen contacts?
Nice UI. Downloading. Great Work
Nice App but what it needs:
- Automatically add favorite contacts to the screen
- Make Icons moveable. Choose apps for "left", "right", "top" and "bottom" and than just move the contact to one of the sides
- Add dialer
- Add Call list
download link isnt working. can you upload it again?
Doesn't load the contact list.galaxy tab 2.
Sorry for my previous post.It works but not so impressive in 7" tablet.

This app is really awesome .. but I want to know why is the whatsapp shortcut not working with any of my contacts ?
and if you could improve on the starting time of the app that would be great for the main purpose of the app..
Looks like a promising start!
Two things would be great to add:
(1) an option to add all contacts instead of adding each manually 1-by-1 (of I missed the function to add all at once)
(2) more messenger options (e.g. Line, Skype etc.)
very very nice ui

Thx!
B:silly:
Very nice!
Suggestion!
Make the contact pictures larger and/or with square/rectangular frames (maybe an option to choose too). There is just too much white space between the contacts.
Lags?
the stock contacts application is seems quite laggy. Sometimes I have to wait close to a minute when I want to make a call. very frustrating when I have to do that in front of someone also carrying a smartphone. Takes the charm away.
My Question: Does this solve the problem of laggyness usually seen on ICS/JB phones? I currently have the Munjeni JB ROM for Xperia Sola.
Thanks in advance.
Overall awesome, lacks a widget. Hope you'll make it in a new version.
There are a lot of posts here complaining about the beta, but...it's a beta. It's still in development. I was very vocal when the gear first came out without fleksy especially when they announced it with launch nearly 2 months before the release date. But it's here and I'm happy. here are some tips to make replying to sms easier.
1. Use the shortcut clock and put fleksy as one of the apps. One thing I love about the gear 2 is how easy it is to customize the interface by simply dragging and dropping from the watch.
2. If you have a group of lets say 5 or 10 people you text very frequently, simply put a "." in front of the contact name. When your watch syncs up, those contacts will be at the top eliminating the need to scroll through dozens (or in my case) hundreds of contacts) When you get notified of a txt, simply press the home button, click on fleksy on your shortcut watch face, select contacts at the top of the list and your all set. It's really very easy. I've attached the image to show you my setup. If anyone has any questions post away, I will be doing a video on youtube shortly.
Thank you for Fleksy for finally getting this out there. This app brings us a huge step closer to the smartwatch we all wanted!

Thank you for the tips/advice. Your suggestions are great and it works well to sort. My issue is that I thought Flesky would do autocorrects, especially with such a small keyboard to try and use, but mine does not. Does anyone know if this feature is coming?

The auto-correct feature works just fine on mine. It didn't work the first time I downloaded the application but after a delete and re-install it worked fine. You could try that.
Always worked on mine. You're right, it would be worthless if it didn't

Guess what? It does work, but I was typing one word tests at first and did not hit the space bar. You need to do this to have the autocorrect do its thing. Now when I type tsting, it corrects it to testing, or thrre to three. Thanks all.

Good point. I always have to hit the space bar after the last word, which is kind of weird
how i close off the autocorrect theme because i am from greece and i want to write greek with latin characters an the autocorrect make this thing impossible.
it may just be me or my phone, but it seems like after i send 1 or more messages with Flesky from my Gear neo, the "swipe" keyboard on my S5 stops working. I also lose my autocorrect feature unless i restart the phone (have not found another fix yet).
anyone else notice this? its almost like the S5 forgets it has Swype, and instead thinks its still using flesky.
I've setup my "Double Press" home button to open Fleksy. The "Double Press" command works from any screen on the Gear 2. After I read a text message I immediately "Double Press" and Fleksy appears showing my inbox.
