Hi guys,
The gf is having a bit of an issue with her Xperia J (Unrooted). Whenever she tries to update an app shes is getting an insufficient storage message, When there is plenty of storage space:
* Was going to attach screenshots but I dont have enough posts yet
I have read plenty of possible solutions on here but None have worked.
eg- clearing the app cache,etc.
Im assuming this is a software issue ? The phone is basically brand new.
Any suggestions on a resolution would be great!
Thanks
Dan.
Move some apps to the internal storage

I got my transformer on Monday and having syned it with my google account all is well.
However yesterday I was presented with the message "Low on Space Tablet storage space is getting low"
When checking the settings I am told that I have used 12.8gb for apps!!!
This is not possible. Looking at the xoom forums I can see other users are having the same issues
Any Ideas?
Hi,
More like a suggestion, can you install an app like DiskUsage from the Android market? See what that tells you?
rio
I don't think the Xoom users who had this problem found any resolution except a factory reset.

No I could not install any apps - even after removing a bunch of them.

Thanks I had seen the threads but not read them.
I have since done a full wipe (factory restore) and it has fixed the issue.
In a way this was not too much of a problem as I am getting my transformer replaced because one of the sides where the back meets the metal edge, the back is too thin (pressed in too much) so the metal edge is sharp to touch

On the Android phones you can go into application settings and see (and clear) the memory they use - sounds like an app just filled it up with something? This could be a worry if its one of Asus'es standard apps.

Eeek indeed, but wouldn't they all be made in the same way? ie, all of the pads are lethal instruments?
Don't mean to thread jack, but how much of the internal storage is available for App Installs?
I read somewhere that approximately 14GB is free?
Yes it is about 14gb.
System showing 635mb used 13gb free at the moment

It would appear that Honeycomb is quite different to previous versions of Android, and the remaining 14gb or so is available for apps/data/media whatever.
I guess this is why they don't have a USB storage mode any more, and MTP is used.

Dave
Had the same problem today. Tried to uninstall some apps to see if one of them went "crazy" but didn't solve the problem and...I cannot install other apps. I think I'll have no other choice but reset :-(
Since the reset, I haven't had any problems - if that helps.

This seems to be a honeycomb issue as the Xoom just received an update that fixes the "Application storage errors will not appear unless the device has reached maximum storage capacity." issue.
Maybe ASUS has added the same fix in tomorrows update?
It did it again....
I performed a reset like 2 weeks ago...everything was fine but now again "Low on space". Damn!
I really have to root and then make a backup so if this boring thing happens again at least I'll use the backup. Now what should I do? Reset again, configure everything again, download apps and then after a week maybe do it again?
I also noticed that this happens after some FC with the browser, so happened last time so happened this time.
just noticed this on my transformer too, any solutions except factory reset? i also did the may 13 update but that did not help. i hope asus will push a fix for this soon.
The "low storage" problem happened for me a couple of days ago. I did a factory reset and it went away...for now. Hopefully it won't come up any time soon.
I think Xoom owners are experiencing this problem too. Maybe the next Honeycomb update will fix this problem for all of us.

been having browser fatal crashes all day and I just got this error as well. Any suggestions besides a factory reset?
16gb bone stock transformer.
Well, after trying to access my saved game files and such with no luck I did a factory reset. For some reason before the reset, alot of the info wasnt available in astro file manager or through windows explorer when hooked up to my pc. After the reset, I was able to browse all the files and everything was visible. Not much info available for this problem yet.
When I shut down my phone and restart it, ill have 8 or so apps missing when it reboots. Anyone else having this issue or know of a possible fix?

There have been several users with that issue. It appears to ne a bug in the software and so far the only fix is, if you have apps moved to the SD card, move those apps to internal storage. This happens to be a major software bug as the Atrix 2 is not the only Motorola phone that has seen this issue. Like I said, keep your apps on the internal storage and that should temporarily fix your issue. I would also suggest calling Motorola and if they try their normal troubleshooting steps, just lie and say you did all of that already and let them know you are not the only user with that issue and they need to get on the ball and code a maintenance update fixing the issue. Until they do, just keep your apps where I said and you should be fine.

Has a topic on the official moto forum...

From Mark, the forum manager...
We're investigating the issue. For now we recommend keeping your apps installed on the phone memory if you are going to be regularly connecting to your computer to access the SD Card.

I'm not sure if this is right section, but here we go:
So, I was thinking on how my RAZR i came back to work like new when I made a "wipe data/master reset" in it and installed just the necessary. Then I was thinking that a lot of apps that I used to keep in phone probably uses CPU, battery and syncing more that it really needs and came to mind the following: will my phone keep working like new if I keep those extra apps in a SD and unmout it whenever I'm not using the apps from it? (Keep in mind, this is the question).
What I think is that if I unmount the SD, the apps would automatically stop running, incapable of even generating notifications, syncing and using CPU, and the phone will be like those apps never were installed at all. Completing this topic, is there any way to install the app directly into the SD?
Sorry my english...

i have never seen anyone try this before, but i could speculate on the outcome.
-it would likely make your phone run faster longer.
-the phone will still slow down some over time just from normal use, it is mostly unavoidable.
-you may encounter some issues with the phone by doing this though, as android will use the card just because it is there, then when you unmount it, there could be an issue when it cant find/read/write to those files.
-as far as i know, you cant install an app directly to the sd, you have to move it there.
just my opinion, hope that helps
Thanks for your reply...so
I really should consider that it wouldn't run like new forever, but since my phone was gone from an other master reset to a really annoying lost of performance (installing apps without any criteria in those lasts months, just to find the good ones) I think that this method could help to keep testing apps but without losing performance right because doing this.
Also, do you can think which could be the errors the system may face when unmounting the sd card and still using the phone? Could the system try to communicate with the app (instead of the inverse, that I am discarding, cause the app, in theory, won't be even running if the sd isn't mounted)?

Don't put your launcher on SD whatever you do.

I already saw something about that, what's the problem in putting the launcher in the sd?

Recently, I've been experiencing tremendous LAG on my XOLO Q1000. The device is rooted and is running stock Jellybean 4.2.1. I have Xposed Framework running with GravityBox. I've been using these for the past 6 months, but I haven't had any issues. But of late, the phone seems to hang very frequently, and takes a lot of time to open up apps. (Even the app drawer takes about 3 seconds to open up). I checked the running apps tab in the settings, but that did not show up anything unusual. I also checked the storage status, I have ~300MB of free space on my internal storage, which totals upto 30% of the total storage. also, I regularly clean up the cache. Yet,the RAM usage described is pretty high. Please help me with this issue. What could be the possible solution?
Thank you for using XDA Assist. Android uses RAM different than windows. There's an old saying "unused ram is wasted ram". Lag can be caused by many things and a factory reset is often required. I would check on your devices' help forum to see if others are experiencing the problem and what they are doing about it. Here is a link to the forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/help
Thanks for the advice!

Thanks, but the problem is that there is excessive RAM usage even when I'm not running any apps, as can be seen in the screenshot. And a factory reset means that I shall lose all my apps(Unless i perform a full backup), which i don't want.
Also, my device is a XOLO Q1000, not the galaxy note 3, the link to which you have posted. Still, thanks for the effort.
Cheers!

Hello everyone, I need some help...
I bought my mom Sony Xperia 5 iii yesterday, and its ram usage has been very high (65%~72%).
I checked if any app is over-using the memory too much, and it turns out none. So then I checked the developer option - memory. It said that the Android OS is using up 2G of the memory.
The phone has the lastest update.
Does anyone knows how to solve this problem??
My mom is having her hands gradually baked by Xperia 5 iii right now.
Thank you.
Yes this is the weird thing been happening to me as well I need help..I feel like I'm being controlled... Fake settings that installs onto default apps that can't be removed.its a **** show
Ikr! I don't wanna root it so soon. All I can do is just forced stop those default apps and disable them.
But it do no help saving the memory and cooling the heat.
