Hi,
I dropped my handset two days ago from about 2ft height(yeah that low) onto a tiled floor.. I instantly checked for any damage and found none.
That night, I found a large number of dead/stuck pixels on the center of the screen.
I tried running the "Dead Pixel Detect and Fix"android app.. But it did'nt fix the issue.
Yesterday I noticed that may of the dead pixels are growing into big horizontal lines.
I have checked almost all forums related to this issue, but no one had such a large number of dead pixels.
And some lucky people have said that their issue got self healed!
Also some people have mentioned about keeping the phone in a freezer.. I dont know if it is good/bad for the phone...
All this things happened just two weeks after the warranty expired.
:crying:
Is this a common problem for atrix??Because I have read too many forums with nearly similar problems for atrix.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Take out the battery and put the phone in an airtight packet. Then put it in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Same has happened with me twice. Don't worry!
Same thing happened to me. The freezer technique solved it for me (remember to take out the battery and sd card and put the phone in an airtight bag). Dry the phone for at least a couple of hours after taking it out of the freezer.

LCD backlight bleed on 100% brightness
That looks pretty bad if you ask me. I exchanged phones three times before getting one I could live with. The one I have now is about as bad at 100% as yours is at 50. It's not perfect but it's MUCH better than the first few I had.

Doesn't really look too bad. I'd say keep. Your not getting much better and risk a buggy unit.

That's what I got as a general consensus... Just wanted to see how this compared to other bleeding LCDs.
Do you know if anyone has even gotten a unit without a backlight bleed?
How often will you be running black screens in pitch darkness?
Does screen bleed even matter in sunlight or office lighting?
At 30 percent brightness does it even honestly make a difference?
It'd be dumb to exchange it if the phone is free of any of the "bugs" or issues [serious ones] other people have with the phone. No reboots, never lags, good battery life? Keep it.

No reboots, never lags, 20-30 hrs battery life.
Only problem is the LCD blacklight bleed.

Then you answered it yourself. Keep it. Some people have reported the bleeding getting better overtime and I honestly don't understand what the big deal is. I wish I had a bleeding unit so that I could run some color and contrast bars and see if they truly affect image quality and fidelity.
because all I know is "HD' video and some of the games look gorgoeus on this screen....and the only time I see anything resembling "bleeding" is in that stupid draw app...which I would have never downlaoded anyway!
I almost feel like this is the BIGGEST conspiracy ever just to get people to download draw

Well, the bleeding on mine was noticeable when running a GB rom with the black status bar. That's what made me decide to exchange mine. Was a huge issue? No, not really. Did it piss me off every time I looked at the status bar? You bet.
All that being said I guess it's best to mention I paid retail. If you got the phone for a great deal (like the one costco is offering) then I'd agree that it's not worth exchanging unless it bothers you.
Fortunately the one I've got now has been pretty good to me so far. I've only had it lock up once and I just restored a backup via clockwork and went on my way.

It's well known I like to be a battery whore, my previous record was a little over 48 hours on a full charge with my Infuse. Today I beat my old record by about....20 hrs!
All notifications off except Gmail. 3g data turned off for about 80% of the time. Wifi on but set to turn off when phone sleeps. I did use the phone, text, talk, surf, etc. Probably would be considered light usage though.

Yea no offense when people give battery stats they give them when they've actually used their phone. Of course a battery will last longer if it's not being used or if no notifications are actually being used. Those are what eat the battery

I never use notifications, never will. This is my normal usage pattern. As I said in the OP, I do use the phone.
Get rooted and remove blot wear
Best way in some sense to get great battery life is get rooted, use Excellent Roms that removes all bloatware and find any apps that are continually running in background and remove them. (Tip) Get titanium backup and backup your apps then remove them but if you need later then reinstall them for future use. Just a few things to mention, so much more to add to save battery. I suggest you just use your phone and try and save in other ways that will extend you daily use.
How much screen on time? That's generally the best measure of battery life, because if your screen isn't on, you're not really using your phone. And a percent usage tells nothing.
My infuse is currently going on 12 days, 14 hours, 16 minutes, 7 seconds since last unplugged with 1 hour 28 minutes of screen on time. That being said, it's because I use it purely as a backup alarm clock without a sim card now that I have my Note, haha. And no, I'm not going to go to the hassle of rooting, downloading a screenshot app, then waiting another 12-14 days to prove it. Just goes to show that battery life doesn't mean much without usage.
Was it with a stock battery

Well, I know this has been discussed before, but I didn't find a solution for it. I recently acquired a GSII Skyrocket from a friend. He said it suddenly stopped working- he's pretty wealthy so he just bought an iPhone and gave this thing to me. I'm a Droid Charge user so I'm not new to Samsung devices, but this kind of stumps me.
Anyway when I try to power it on all I get is a pulse vibrate. You can see what happens here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYFc7IMU0pg&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Any suggestions? Do I have to send it in to get it JTAG'd? I'd really like to get this fixed so I can sell it.

Looks to have signs of life, somewhat, so I wouldn't think it's bricked. I would say maybe a stuck power button. Try cleaning it out.
Otherwise, try using Odin to return to stock.. you can find a sticky by vincom here with all the info you'll need.
There may be options between my 2 ideas someone else may give, i'm sure someone can get you pointed in the right direction if nothing I said does. Good luck.
Edit: Oh, also, the jig won't help.

the speed of the reboot seems more like a stuck power button like btm fdr said but odin to stock would be a good idea just don't mess up with odin because that can brick .
EDIT: from with in odin I can't remember if it's volume up or down but you can tell it to reboot normally. that would tell you if you need to odin it back to stock.

its a stuck "sticky" power button, if it is then odin wont work since it wont stay on long enough and useless since its a hw problem
test: when you remove then reinsert bat and the phone turns on, then if it takes approx 10 sec's to turn off and vibrate then its for sure a power button problem, its stuck
The device does exactly as seen in the video. I'd say it's shorter than 10 seconds, I can't get it to stay in download mode. The power button still "clicks" if that counts for anything.

You sir, should be what every user in the forum strives to be. A video to show us what's going on, info on the history of the device, and a willingness to fix it yourself.
I agree with everyone saying stuck power button. It's been a rampant problem for this device. Do you have any compressed air? If so, spray that stuff all around that power button. If not, examine the hardware around it and see if you can see any noticeable particles or lint which could be obstructing or jamming the button. If not, out it back together and mash the hell out of the button itself to see if you can un-jam it. If it still doesn't work, try sending it to Samsung for repair. Probably won't cost you as much as you'll sell the device for once it's fixed. Most seem to be getting around $200 for their rockets around here, depending on your region.
Good luck!
I got it! I ended up dousing the hell out of the board in 100% Isopropyl and smashing the sh!t out of the power button. Thanks a lot you guys!

You have a terrible signal...
I'm confused as to why people are treating this as a bad thing.
Go buy an iPhone if you want your hardware limited.
I suspected as much. Doesn't give the text on mine, but the throttle is most certainly there. It's bloody annoying.
On, off, on, off, on off... This thing should come with an epilepsy warning. Fine, I'll just keep it at 99.9%, then. Marvellous solution there Samsung/Google.

Thermal throttling is an amazing thing. It allows you to have as much performance as possible without damaging the hardware.
Apple sets their maximum performance very low so as to never need to throttle. If you want your N3 never to need to throttle, turn the settings down.
And this is a bad thing... because? It's to avoid hardware damage

I am going to buy a note 3 , have a mega 6.3 , and in the mega foruns here on xda this issue have been discussed exhaustively. As it seems some units do this others don't have tryed mine to do it/ display this message , setting brighteness to the max , and paying asphalt 8 for more than a hour straight , I did get the device to warm quite a bit , but no display throttling whatsoever, just hope I have the same luck with my note 3

OMG I always used my PS3 as a space heater in the winter. That thing was a monster though. I7-3930k level of performance, on 45nm transistors. I'm surprised it didn't burn down more houses.

for me the problem is that the thermal throttling kicks in (or, better described: on off on off on off) even at
minimum brightness levels, so i doubt it has any thermal impact on these low levels. there it's only annoying, nothing more!
it would make more sense if the thermal throttling of the display only activates over some brightness level, where the reduction HAS an impact on the thermal situation!
but this are just my 2 cents...
I really don't think these measures are put in for sh*ts and giggles but yeah you only paid $700+ who cares if by preventing this it'll cut down the life span of the phone or help reduce screen burnin

Tapatalk is retarded when it comes to attachments.
Thermal throttling is good to avoid damage to hardware.
And for your own health, is advise don't use 100% brightness, this is way too bright, it will eventually slowly damage your eye.
I had no idea how could you stand 100% brightness, don't you think it is over kill bright?
Hello developers
I fully charged my battery last night before I go to sleep, but when I got up this morning, I found that my battery just got 25% remained.
Last this situation happened was about two month ago.
My battery is the original one with my phone.
Oh, I change a battery from HTC because the first one is dead in somehow I don't know.
So, is there anyone know how to resolve this problem?
Thanks for any help.

Text is in something I can't read (probably Taiwanese ? ) but from what I can tell, the CPU of the phone stays at 100% all the time.
There's just no way the screen could use that much power when it's turned OFF the whole night, unless you have a defective board, which would need to be replaced.
If you didn't install any apps that could cause this (meaning this happened as soon as you bought the phone) it appears to be a problem with the firmware's power management, meaning it has none
Flash another stock or custom firmware and that should fix it, just make sure its any other firmware than the one you currently have.
That's my opinion, based on what I can see and on my experience (I'm not a developer).

Thanks for the reply.
In the battery usage page, it never shows how much do apps use battery...
But, with my experience, I got to say this problem happens randomly...
Then,I found that reboot my phone can solve the problem like a magic trick.

Oh... Forgot one thing to say,
I bricked my phone few weeks ago...
So I send it to HTC for repair, then I got a new motherboard inside my old phone , and since the motherboard is new...
So I think the problem may not caused by the motherboard.

I'm glad you managed to get it to work. But if rebooting it fixes the problem, then it might be because of a bad ROM. Try a re-flash or take it back to HTC and explain it to them.
Over-charging the phone will kill the battery and it might even cause it to inflate or blow-up. That's how accidents happen
ASK
hey, is battery saver app in PS works perfectly?? or just make android laggy.
Dude , rebooting is not a perfect solution . Just changes the battery with an other one . Some times your changed battery will makes this all mistakes .
Did you oveclocked your htc?? Ovrer overclocking may cause this problem . Well Check and install a new kernal .
Click thanks if I helped

Seems like a problem that the rom causes. You can try powering off the phone, removing the battery for at least 10-15 seconds and then put it back in and see the results (that's similar to the wipe battery stats option in recoveries). If that doesn't work, the only sonution is to flash another rom, whether it's a stock or a custom one.
