DraStic DS Emulator crashes??? - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I installed DraStic DS Emulator r2.1.3a and I attempted to load GTA Chinatown War with file format .nds and the app crashed. Is .nds format supported or do I need to adjust the setting configuration? Running on Note 2 N7100. Thanks.

Firstly, .nds files are rom files or games files. They only come in this format or at least this is the most common excluding zips and rars. There is a compatibility list for the emulator. Just google it. GTA isn't on there. Don't expect it to run perfectly or it to run well. It may be the best android emulator out there at the moment, but it is really new. I've been using it and it crashes for me. I'm going to guess that it's not on there because it hasn't been tested yet officially. It's one of those games that just doesn't work. Try getting it frrrom a different source; that sometimes works.
Being in the early stages that it is, there are going to be bugs. In terms of settings, there isn't much you can do. With some games, turning sound off stops them from running. I know this happens with pokemon games but it's going to vary. Sorry if this isn't much help but all we can do is wait until they bring out updates to sort out bugs like these.
Another thing you can try is updating the emulator. I believe it's now at 2.1.6.2a. This may only be bug fixes but it may fix bugs that stop the game running in the first place. It's worth a try so give it a go. Also, try looking on other forums, they may have the answer. I don't have your device so I don't know how to fix the problems you have if they're device specific.

Pls Help . Just Right I Open Drastic. It Keep Crashing And Does Not Work . Please Help

how did you manage to get it working? and running which game? i tried metal slug X , because its a small (64mb) but it crashes immediately when i click the .bin file.
I put my bios in my bios folder, my games in the iso folder, and it worked
Can You share Your bios file and what game are You running?
Running FF7(great game btw) and I would love to share the BIOS files, but that is sadly illegal. Search around the nets, and you will easily find them. Or you can dump the bios from your playstation if you have one. I tried that once, and it went wrong, it isn't an easy procedure
Hi guys. I just see that excelent program. I dint imagine that exist. The problem is that i dont know how to make it work. What i have to download and how i will make it work? i have the htc blackstone, with this rom RUU_Duttys_HD_WM6.5_Leo_Holy_Grail_R0. Can you help me please????
i am having a problem too when i try to run it..it says that i need mmore than 16mb of ram to run it but nothing else is running.
any one any ideas
@ jonathanfoster
Maybe the game that you are trying to open is to large, try a different one. If not, try using a different bios if possible. If that doesn't work, try a different version, or maybe the game is bad
@ nikosfa
Bios goes in bios folder. .iso and .bin games go in games folder. click on the executable from the device, and done.
I couldn't get version 0.9.5 working so I downloaded newest 0.9.6 beta of the emulator. Digimon World 1 and 3 ran almost perfectly... just little fps drop in fights. I also tried Gran Turismo and it was very playable.
i cant use the directional pad because its going to the left even without touching it

[Game][GTA3] Make GTA3 run on the Galaxy Tab

Hey guys,
I've been trying to get GTA3 to run on the Tab since launch and it seems I finally found out how!
Here is what you need:
1. You need to find a way to purchase GTA3 from the market! I did this by purchasing it for my SGS2.
2. Make sure to install version 1.1 as version 1.0 crashes and causes a device reset!
3. There is no need for Chainfire3D options to be activated.
Cheers,
C.
Work ON ICS
I have test version 1.1 on My tab running ICS Alpha 3..and its work...^_^
Here the screenshot :
Bump!
I reached Staunton Island and it works just fine.
Missions are harder to complete without a mouse, but the retry system works great and it's really fun!

Working on Stock Firmware provided by Overcome
Installed GTA 3 V 1.1 this night and it worked! Though i seems it's a bit laggy but who gives a **** it works!
Im using the stock firmware provided by overcome, with root priviliges and the overcome kernel and recovery.
Hi, today I downloaded from the market the Grand Theft Auto III and downloaded the files to be able to play the game and I made it with Android 2.3.6 Stock P1000XWJQ8_P1000PHNJQ1_P1000XXJPZ with root and with stock kernel.
Note: Just install the latest GTA III app and you will be able to play the game
i'm running gta 3 on my galaxy tab (with overcome kratos rom) and its laggy as hell. even after a reboot and closing all kind of open applications/tasks it gets nearly unplayable when i enter a vehicle... too bad
a cracked one?

IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT, TOUGH! DO NOT ASK FOR WAREZ ON XDA
Version 1.2 works great, and with the full effect turned on
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399258 )
I'm in love again!
I use the sgsll full effects file on either Boca rc1 or icedboca
Lagfree governor, vr scheduler at 1.2 ghz
Unplayable on overcome. Hangs every few seconds and doesnt go far beyond 10fps.
I went into options and put sfx and music to 0. Now the game is playable but still not 100% smooth. Sadly not much else I can do as there's no overclocked kernel for P1010 official gingerbread rom.

Original Samsung Galaxy Tab with Stock Rom 2.3.3 Does play it well
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab with 2.3.3 ( Stock Rom ) DDJPA version recently updated from Froyo. I tried the steps, but game hangs in between. While I have all the HD gameloft games like 9mm, Nova2, MC2, MC3, Asphalt 6 Adrenaline ( all HD versions) , and all of them works flawlessly. Also I have almost 6 GB of free space on Internal Storage while my SD card also has 4 GB free.
Did anyone faced the similar problems on Stock Rom from India -DDJPA versions of Gingerbread. Please help

I contacted rockstar because of my galaxy s2 and they gave me the usual list of things to do...
First, check to verify that your device is listed as a supported device:
http://support.rockstargames.com/en...anniversary-edition-list-of-supported-devices
Unsupported devices may display poor performance or crashing. We are always working to support as many hardware types as possible, and we recommend subscribing to that article for the latest additions to supported devices. Note that Rockstar Games has not tested on jailbroken phones or custom ROMs, and we are unable to guarantee functionality on modified devices.
If your device is supported, here are some troubleshooting steps that may solve crashing issues on Grand Theft Auto III 10th Anniversary Edition:
Close Background Applications Crashing may be caused by playing GTA III while other applications are running in the background. To fix this:
Android: Use an application such as Advanced Task Killer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rechild. advancedtaskkiller&hl=en) to minimize the number of processes running in the background while playing GTA III Reboot the Device It may also help to restart the device and run GTA III from the fresh boot with no other applications running. To reboot the device:
Android: Some phones have their own unique soft boot methods, but the safest bet is to turn the phone off, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Hard Reset the Device if Still Crashing After Rebooting
iOS and Android: Try making some room on your device if it is filled with other applications and data. In particular, this has been reported as a fix for some problems on the Galaxy S II, but may improve performance issues or crash problems on other devices as well. Redownload the Game
iOS and Android: To rule out possible data corruption, delete the game from your iOS or Android device and then re-download it from the App Store or Android Market. Be sure that there is enough space for that game and your signal is strong enough to complete the download. Update the OS/Firmware Please ensure that you are running the latest OS/Firmware on your phone or tablet.
Android: Press the "Home" button. Then press the "Menu" button (four horizontal lines, the word "Menu," or four small squares), then select "Settings." Select "About Phone." Choose "System Updates" and follow the on-screen directions to install any updates, if necessary. The lowest supported version is 2.2, but we recommend updating to the latest available. Determine if Other Applications are Causing a Conflict Occasionally, unforseen conflicts may arise between applications and uninstalling some of them may help to isolate the issue.
Android: Go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications and uninstall other applications that may be interfering with GTA III. This may be particularly helpful if you are able to see in the error log (directions for recording error logs are in a later section of this article) which other Application could be running in the background, causing a problem. Restore the Device If you are definitely using a supported device and one or more of your applications is crashing consistently, try restoring your device.
Android: If your device is supported and you are crashing frequently in GTA III 10th Anniversary Edition and/or other applications, consider a factory reset. Note that you will lose data and settings. To perform a reset from the Home screen, go to Menu->Settings->SD & Phone Storage->Factory data reset->Confirm. Check the Crash Log
Android Error Log: On Android, we recommend downloading a free app such as aLogcat (https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat&hl=en) to monitor any errors or crashes that occur on your device. This is useful not only when submitting tickets to Rockstar for help, but also as a way to determine yourself what processes or conflicts may be causing the problem.
For more information about Android troubleshooting, please refer to http://www.android.com/.
Personally I find closing all background applications before playing helped alot and rockstar couldn't help me with error logging to see if a background application is causing the problem.

[Q A700] why stock games are crashing under CM10?

Hi, I have re-installed some stock games, Zem Pinball THD, HW Solitaire SE, Glowball (oups no, it's not a stock game), but all this games crashes under CM10.
I know that CM10 is under development, but it's curious that all this games, that need the powerfull CPU and GPU Tegra 3 are crashing!
Any idea or comments?
I have tried to delete the cache, but this does not help in my case.

You pretty much answered your own question "it's under development".
Although a lot of the "features" work in CM10 releases, there are still issues that will eventually get sorted out over time. In the case of games crashing, it is most likely due to memory leaks which is pretty common with new development. You can see this happening in other device forums. Eventually they get straightened out either by new source from Google, Acer Drivers, or the folks at CyanogenMod get something going.
The best way to help any development, is when you have an app crash, and you can repeat it, then start ADB and do a Logcat. After the crash, attach the logcat.txt to your post.
This way, Devs can look at the logcat, and hopefully find what's causing it, or what's failing. Without a logcat, for most issues, there's really no sense in trying to fix something, when you don't know where to start. And most Dev's are not going to install a lot of apps just because the users have problems with them.
Here's a nice guide put together by one of my counterparts on how to logcat.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238
You can run ADB via your PC by way of Android SDK, or by installing a Terminal app on your tab, or, you can get a specific logcat app from the market, like "ALogcat". It's not difficult, and it ain't rocket science
Rock On!

[Q] Compatibility of games

Hey I was just wondering, some of the really cool games like iron man 3 and real racing 3 isn't compatible with the tf700. Would these games work if I were to root it. Or is there any other way for these games to work. Thanks a lot
Iron man 3 works, playing it now.
Rooting it won't make a difference. It won't suddenly become compatible in the play store.
Iron Man 3 plays fine, can't speak for Real Racing, not my type of game.
You have two options:
- Sideload it. Buy it on another device and transfer it to your TF700.
- Alternatively, there are thousands of websites who offer the apk. That's all I can say about it as per the rules on the board, I'm afraid. I know it's not ideal, and I don't particularly like the solution myself, but the developer doesn't provide another option, it's their own fault. If you want to know more, let me know (send me a PM).
I saw the option for side loading on my recovery and wasn't sure how it works. Would the function be similar to backing up an application in say, titanium back up, transferring that file to another device, and then running titanium again to install it? Or does it run the apk from there? Either way, these options may not work for games that connect to a server and check the compatibility of your tablet. That would require build changes in your system. I think Gameloft does this type of check. I was unable to transfer one of their games from my phone to the tablet for this reason.
I downloaded from the play store onto my Acer A500 and then backed up the app with ES File Explorer. Then copied the backed up apk to my tf700, installed it, and it downloaded all the needed files. Runs fine.

The former -- TB backups work fine for most cases.

Correct again. As far as Gameloft goes (I haven't played that many games on the 700) that would suck even harder because they a) make AAA-rated and popular games, and b) they are the main culprits in not properly identifying compatible devices (I believe most of their games run just fine when sideloaded, however).
I was unable to transfer one of their games from my phone to the tablet for this reason.

Obviously, you mileage may vary.
Compatibility of games
I've come across this problem a few weeks ago when trying to purchase Machinarium, which also identifies as incompatible.
I'm thinking it would be in ASUS' interest to have developers correctly identify their apps/games' compatibility with the TF700. Could we perhaps start a list of incorrectly identified compatible games from the Play store, and then could someone forward it to an ASUS representative?
My contribution:
- Machinarium
I side loaded the Real Racing 3 .apk
And its HORRIBLY broken, textures all over the place and sub 20fps to almost stuttering at times.

BlueStacks Kritika Error

Hi all,
2 days ago I started to use Bluestacks on my Windows 10 laptop and for a day it worked perfectly, truly flawless, I only play one game (Kritika) and that game had a major update and after that update the app starts but I keep getting this error message about xigncodehack detected or something.. So I tried yesterday evening to look for other emulators, to see if they had the same problem, but since there are more emulators out there than I thought, I don't know which one to choose which is best, personally I installed Bluestacks because it was the only emulator that I knew about, so my question basically is if anyone knows how to fix that hack error to play Kritika or if someone knows which Emulator doesn't have that problem and is better than BS? Also for if I wanted to play other games, it would be nice to have like a real android UI instead of the slimmed down version of BS imo..
Hope someone can help me?
