[Q] Import camera jpg location - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a 32gb note 10.1 with a sandisk 64gb microsd installed, not rooted . My problem is this: when I connect my canon 7d using a usb otg adapter and use the import function in the gallery, how can I specify that the imported pictures are saved to the sdcard and not to internal memory? I can't find the pictures using myfiles to move them manually. It seems that all the pictures are saved in some sort of meta file, or maybe they're just hidden without root access. I've tried to search for answers but have come up blank. I have the camera app set to save to the sdcard no problem, but this issue is a puzzler.
Thanks for any help.
Tony

Is there a setting on the camera that you have to enable like mass storage setting perhaps?

Camera works fine, it's the import function I'm asking about, thanks anyway.

Camera date and time prefix problem

Im having some trouble with the camera on this thing. On the diamond I could set the name of the videos and photos to be the date and time (prefix) even if they were saved to the 4GB internal storage. But on the Touch Pro it will only save with the date and time prefix if the photos and videos are saved to the internal ROM and not the memorycard. The option to change the prefix is dimmed if I have chosed to save photos and videos to the memorycar.
Does anyone have a solution ? Cause this is driving me nuts.
i have the same problem..
Anyone knows how i can fix this?
Anyone Ever find a fix for this? It is the same on the Fuze.
Found the Fix
While poking around after adding burst and sport modes for the camera I found a fix.
Change d-word from 1 to 0 for:
"HKLM\software\HTC\camera\general\EnableDCIM"
This does 2 things:
1. Creates folders "storage card\my documents\(my pictures) + (my videos)
2. Enables selection of Prefix type in camera settings when storage card is selected as storage type
The reason that photos on the storage card are treated differently is so that they will be stored in the same way a digital camera stores photos; that way you can plug the storage card into a printer that is able to print directly from a camera card and it will be able to print photos taken with the Touch Pro, as well. It can't do that with the "My Documents\My Pictures" layout.

Thanks for the info. Since i don't use that method for printing my pictures I am going to keep DCIM disabled so i can name the files with the date. I hate just having em all named image#.
Thanks!
Now, I dont have all the images with IMG*...

Thank you very much. this is applicable to HTC HD2 Leo too. I'm going to suggest to be added to HD2 Tips.

Doubletwist sync question

I was wounding if any one knew how to make double twist air sync to the external sd card. I have the majority of my music saved there but when I air sync it puts out on the phones memory not the external sd card. If that's even possible please let me know.
Also I have astro but when I try to move it from where the air sync saves it to the external where the test is it says can not move? ? ? ? Thanks

I havn't tried the AirSync part but for regular USB syncing I was able to get it to use ext_sd by deleteing everything DT had put on the internal SD, shutting down DT and iTunes, connecting phone then under Storage Management removing the drive letter from the internal SD card. (obviously this is a Windows only solution though ejecting the internal one on a Mac befroe firing up DT might work too).
Once you remove that drive letter restart DT and it showed and synced right to the external SD.
I went this route mainly because I only want the internal SD used by apps, pics, etc. I do believe this will break the syncing of pics and videos thru DT, but not actually tested.
So what you can do for air sync if you want to use that. You just let it sync like normal than copy using astro to the external than delete the one on the internal where air sync puts it by default.
Not perfect but it works.
Would love to hear any other fixes or suggestions.

There is a setting for it.
Under the general settings tab in the android app, there is actually a setting for choosing the volume on which you want to store your content.

SD Card reader -- View images in Gallery?

I've been playing around with the cheapo OTG Connection Kit (combo SD card reader and USB port).
I noticed something odd -- when I load an SD card (from a Nikon D50) into the SD card reader, the tablet recognizes the drive and automatically opens the file manager. I can navigate to the photo folder on the SD card, and then open individual photos (which open in the Gallery app). However, I can't swipe left or right to see the other photos. I have to exit the Gallery and then open another photo.
I was hoping that I could simply open the first photo and then swipe through the rest of the photos in the folder, as you would normally do with images. But this just doesn't seem to work when the photos on the SD card.
Any thoughts? Has anyone else experienced this, or could someone else test this out to see if they get the same result?
Anyone? I've now tested this with an SD card directly in the card reader dongle, as well as with a USB card reader plugged into the USB dongle. Neither allows you to load images on the card as a gallery (so that you can swipe left and right through the gallery). Each image must be clicked on individually and then backed out of.
Seems to me that the gallery app doesnt have any external storage mount points set into its default and I dont think you can add any. Pics are opening individually in gallery because you have that set as your default app for viewing pics. Try another gallery type app from the market or maybe search the forums for a modded one.
Thanks -- I've been thinking along those lines. I've heard good things about JustPictures! so maybe I'll start there and report back what I find.
I've the same issue... I'll try market gallery manager. Thanks
I had some partial success with JustPictures! -- it definitely was able to load the entire folder from the SD card, but when I swiped through the pics, it seemed like it wasn't quite in file name order like I expected. Not sure if it was random or some other order.

[Q] Can I restore deleted photos and videos under Jelly Bean?

Hi, I accidentally deleted some photos and videos when I was playing with my new Galaxy Note 2. Is there a good app to get back those files? Thanks.
If your lost data was stored under memory card, you have the possibility to restore some photos & videos.
Just plugin the memory card to pc using card reader (obviously) and search for usb data restore software on google, you will find some good softwares. Install and run it and you can get your data back.
Hope it helps you.
Try it and let me know.

I checked the settings. The default save location is the internal memory.

Make sure you select your device under "File Location" window. And it will recover any deleted files with the memory assuming you haven't over written it with importing more files since.

Yes, it is possible. see this solution: android data recovery
hope this helps.

[Completed] Cannot View Certain High-Resolution Photos on Android Marshmallow

Hi, I have been searching through Google extensively regarding a problem my SD card has but I none of them exactly describe my problem.
So I just recently bought a Strontium class 10 32GB card from an online web shop (like eBay) and I've been reading about stuff like SD scamming, but I don't think this is the problem I have since I have already used up 20GB of the alotted 29GB, and I can still access files and media with no problems. I also have issues viewing photos stored in my internal storage, so the problem I just described applies to my external and internal storages.
THE PROBLEM:
I downloaded high resolution photos from Unsplash and all photos appear fine on my laptop. I transferred them to my phone's memory (SD and Internal) and used QuickPic to browse them but I found out that only 50-something of the 99 photos can be viewed. The problematic photos take up space but they don't show the picture when clicked, only a broken thumbnail icon can be seen. I tried to identify the problem by doing: a reboot; ejecting and mounting the SD; formatting the SD; removing files like .nomedia (if this is even related); doing a factory reset; using a different card; and using ES file explorer but I still can't see some of my photos.
USEFUL DETAILS:
The photos that have issues all exceed 5000px in either width or height-- anything below that appears fine. I'm running Marshmallow 6.0, I tried using QuickPic, Google Photos and Sony's stock album app to open the pictures. I downloaded the pictures from the Unsplash website, MySplash (Android app) and Wally (Android app too). Everything from Wally can be viewed (even the mentioned corrupt photos from the Unsplash website) because the app only lets me download the smaller resolution (~778KP from an original of 12MP).
I have tried opening the unviewable photos on a Huawei P9, and I can see the problematic photos. I also tried inserting another SD card with the problematic photos to my phone, and I was still not able to view the photos.
My old no-brand phone had this problem too. It was running Jellybean and I used QuickPic there, too.
My current phone is a Sony Xperia XA Ultra, F3216, the dual-sim version. No custom ROMs, I'm using the stock Marshmallow.
Hi there and welcome to assist,
Unfortunately there is nothing about your question/device on XDA forum. Try a Google search first. Sorry for this late response.
You'll have to create an account to post in the main forums if you have any other questions.
Good luck
