[Q] Can I rebuild a app CAB installer from within my phone? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I have a HTC touch Pro running 6.1 Professional, that has alot of apps Ive installed over the years.Id like to backup those apps but without any modified settings.is there a way to rebuild the CAB installer for those apps?Or is it stored somewhere in the OS?
Or maybe a program that can extract the apps to be reinstalled on a new device?

Backing up installed apps only ?

Is there a way of doing this?
I want to change ROM but tried my SPB backup restore with a different WM6 ROM and causes problems.
Is there a backup program that will backup installed apps only rather than system (registry and system folder in internal memory)
No, of course not. Most programs depend on corresponding registry entries. And restoring the registry will give conflicts with your new ROM.
thought so,
I did have a app on the pc once that you ran before doing an install ran the app, this then logged what changed in the registry hence could restore programs install only to the registry

Cab uninstall ... Rollback or delete?

I just have a quick dev question ... When uninstalling an application, is WM smart enough to perform a rollback or does it just iterate through all the installed files/shortcuts/reg entries and remove them?
I think it just deletes. I don't believe that WM is designed to rollback... then again, that is just my guess based on several years of using WM devices...
Is there a way to make the cab backup the replaced files and then restore them on uninstall?
Or at least overwrite the installed files with backup ones already provided with the cab?
Thanks.

any way to grab settings, notes, etc. from apps?

So, I just recently rooted and installed cyanogenmod 7 on my htc droid incredible. I know that I had to wipe and delete everything in order to install everything. I tried backing up my apps with an app called backupeverything. Well, besides not being able to find it on the market (I was able to find an apk online and install it), every time I try to restore the apps, it doesn't work. I know the apps I need, the issue I'm running into is: is there any way I can recover settings, notes (like from springpad, notepad, etc.) from my phone?
Just go into /data/data and copy the apps folder using a file explorer then put it on sdcard and then on computer and from there you can apply that data into roms by default or do whatever

[Q] Customizing a custom ROM

Hey guys,
i was wondering, if there is a possibility to customize a custom ROM. I found a great one but, as almost every ROM, it consists of apps i dont need/want. Removing is not possible (or possible?). I already tried to unpack it with osKitchen, but it crashes because "its a custom ROM".
Are there any other options to make it works?
Thx a lot,
Darkslider2k4
If you use titanium backup you should be able to delete any app you want. Or you can use a program called 7 zip, unzip it, take out and add what you want and zip it back up. This is useful for apps that you can't install such as theme chooser for CM7.
I do not use titanium backup, software which is better?
No, iam not using titanium backup. Its a Windows Mobile (6.5) Phone.
I already tried to unzip it with 7-zip, but its impossible. He always whines that the file Gambit 1.3.2048 RC2 - Sense 2.5.2019|Titanium cannot be opened as an archive.
But you get my intension? I want to customize a ROM, which is done by an user (the one i linked).
Thx

[Q] apk installer for re installing system app (or really good task killer)

alright xda
i have been modding my firmware basically just switching around apks to improve the system
i removed the default system task manager and i was wondering if anyone had an app or a way to re install it as a user app or using a phone terminal or a root installing app:silly:
using lg c800g
I believe that there are plenty of 3rd party apps avaliable in the Play store which act as task managers. If you're however talking about the system task manager apk which is integrated in the system ROM then you could download your ROM in .zip/.rar format, search for the .apk you deleted and simply transfer it to your SD card and install it.
Protip: use Titanium Backup to remove and ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS before removing something.
