Is there a way of doing this?
I want to change ROM but tried my SPB backup restore with a different WM6 ROM and causes problems.
Is there a backup program that will backup installed apps only rather than system (registry and system folder in internal memory)
No, of course not. Most programs depend on corresponding registry entries. And restoring the registry will give conflicts with your new ROM.
thought so,
I did have a app on the pc once that you ran before doing an install ran the app, this then logged what changed in the registry hence could restore programs install only to the registry

Greets,
The AT&T Instructions on the installation of the new Tilt ROM indicates that you can do a sprite backup, and then restore it afterwards.
I can't get my head around how that is possible (and if its a good idea). Doesn't Sprite Backup backup the registry too (It HAS to ... it maintains installed program settings), which would then unback registry settings which may, or may not, be applicable to the new ROM.
Has anyone actually done this?
Thanks!
You can restore PIM data with it without problem.
If you go to the options, you can also select Upgrade Mode in the advanced feature & that will restore everything it can without overwritting ROM files.
is it possible to ve all app.installations by saving and restoring the Registry Key SOFTWARE?
It's just nerving to re-install everything after updating to new ROM
Most of the tutorials and guides have excellent information, save for this little gem: "XYZ etc etc... re-flash and you're all set!". I've got a Touch Pro running a stock ROM but I'd like to increase the pagepool to 32mb. Is there a way to do this without losing everything I've done to it so far? To my understanding, the hex editing wouldn't mess anything but, it's having to re-flash your new settings that would restore you to factory default, with the exception of a now larger pagepool.
Any help?
you can use Resco Backup or SPB Clone (if you're a company man) to back everything up.. change the pagepool size and load the clone.. at least i think you can.
i'm not sure if the Backup applications read the pagepool size when backing stuff up...
you can always try... and if you don't make it put the pagepool size back to what it was before.
A good backuptool is your solution.
Hello,
I tryed myselv the ROMeOS Roms with different PagePool sttings.
Imade a Backup of all my device with Sprite Backup tool.
I can reccommend Sprite Backup, because i use it for a realy long time now.
Step by Step:
1. Download Sprite Backup (Trial Version, or maybe there is a Version on the support CD of your Raphael)
2. Install Sprite backup on your device
3. run it and make a buckup (complete backup, without your SD-Card), and
set storage location to StorageCard.
4. Sprite Backup is doing a softreset, makes backup, softreset again, ready ( there is a notification bubble shown after finish)
5. Change th pagepool of the rom you would like to flash (Ruu_signed.nbh or. RAPHIMG.nbh) to the setting you want.
6. BEFOR FLASH THE ROM, YOU HAVE TO FLASH HASRD-SPL(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150)
7. Flash your new ROM.
8. After flashig, do the first steps like shown on the display (like calibration, softreset, ready fo use)
9. Install Backup: Threr are 2 options how you can do it.
9.1. opend file explorer on your device:
got to your backupfilePath, and klick on the backup file
it takes amoment, and your backup is preloaded.
follow the steps on the screen and restore your
backup.Sprite backup performs 2 softresets as well.
9.2. Install the complete application on your device, run
Sprite backup, klick on restore and all possible
backupfiles are shown, select your backupfile and
restore it.also 2 softresets.
10. After the Restoreprocess has finished, everything should be like before.
You can also use another backup tool, there are much more tools.
Hope it helps alittle, and sorry for my english, hope you could understand what i posted.
So when I'm in the satellite tab i see the sattelites but than it says "Mode 2: Fix not available". I have been struggling with getting my GPS to work and maybe there is a thing I could make the fix available?
bump......
Hiya,
Try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
Everyone has problems with GPS and I wish that HTC would fix this. However i used the Elite RC3 ROM last week and they seemed to fix it on mine so it might be worth trying custom Roms.
I tried that but it still doesn't get a fix. Also when I put a new rom on my phone and use SPB backup to restore my contacts and programs, will the programs work? It would be too much installing for me after I flash the new rom.
What i do is this. I have an 8GB expasion card in mine so i install all the programs/games i need to that. i also use PIM backup to backup all my contacts.
All i do is run PIM backup to backup messages, contacts etc and copy all my shortcuts from the programs menu. When you hard reset or flash all you will need to do is restore the PIM backup, restore you shortcuts and you're sorted.
However if some programs require serials, you will need to enter them back in again as this is saved in the registry on the device it self. Any personal settings for those programs should be saved too providing it saves them to the storage card.
What is the best clone app out there for completely backing up and completely reinstalling my whole phone? I have done tons of registry tweaks and apps and really don't want to have to reinstall all of them.
Thanks guys!!
I use sprite for a full backup & pim for, well pim stuff!
Sprite should restore fine, aslong as you're restoring onto the same rom, ie, if you change model, or rom - the restore will cause loads of issues exactly because of all those registry tweaks!
