Hello, I recently got a 6500mAh battery and it comes with an USB adapter. The problem is that when I charge the battery with the adapter using an USB cable, it charges incredibly slow, about 10% per hour. However, on the stock battery, it charges lots faster using the stock adapter, about 50% per hour. Also, when I use an app called DU Battery Saver Pro from the Play Store, with the stock battery and charger, it says that the charging process is AC charging, but with the extended battery and the third party charger, it says that it was a USB charging. What exactly differ that two kinds of charging? I believe that the amperage matters...
Here is the spec of the third party charger and the battery:
- Battery: 3.7VDC, 6500mAh, Li-ion 3.7V, rechargeable
- Charger: Input: AC100-240V~50/60Hz 150mA
Output: DC4.35V 350+-50mA
DC5.2V 800mA (USB)

I've noticed that charging with 500mah charger, charges the battery MUCH slower than a 1000mah (1amp) charger, which charges really fast. I'll need to time it, but I'm thinking the 1000mah charger charges the stock battery in less than 2 hours, where as the 500mah charger takes many hours, I usually let it charge overnight.
My question is, is there any performance gain to slow charging vs fast charging? ie: slow charging giving a deeper charge, vs fast charging?
any opinions?
i use a 2amp charger i had already that fully charges the O3D in around half an hour/45 mins. get the same runtime whether i use that or the stock charger.

Any chance of a link to this charger, I'd really like that sort of charging speed.

My guess would be anything that would charge an iPad... those require like 2.1amp, so that would be a 2amp usb charger.... I've seen 2.1amp home chargers, car chargers, etc... all because of the ipad I'm guessing.
Its not that simple. Any device that uses USB for charging can only pull 500ma, that's a universal agreement. To get around this each manufacturer uses a method of "informing" their device that it is connected to a charger that can supply more current (HTC shorts the data leads in the supplied charger I don't know what LG does). I have a 1amp car charger but it still only gives 500ma but the genuine LG charger gives an amp because the phone "knows" it can supply more.
I'm going to stick a test meter into my LG chargers over the holidays to see how the data leads are connected.

The charger i have is a noname brand. I bought it from walmart for 6 quid. It also came with a 2amp car charger and a micro usb cable.
Micro usb cables are not standardised like that. Ive never heard of such a thing at all. As far as i know most phones will "fast charge" if they dont detect a data connection and dump as much current as they can into the battery so you can pretty much present them with whatever current you like and the charge time will just get faster. There is probably a hardware limit to that somewhere in the charge circuit but i dont know what the limit is. 2amps is the highest power usb charger ive seen but its not exactly aomething i regularly keep an eye out for.

Slow charging is always better as this will allow the optimal number of battery cycles before the battery's capacity will start to degrade.
So if you only ever slow charge then your battery will have a longer life cycle.
Is any difference charging my DHD form PC's USB then charging from original charger ?
I may be wrong, but I think wall charger provides more power than USB or car dock

I've read many times that using USB, you battery might last longer than using the wall charger. I've never noticed this...
USB seems a bit slower than the wall charger but other than that seems the same.
Install Battery Monitor Widget, and you will see how much current each option gives at different levels of charge.
To be exact, the device DRAWS current, it's not a question of the highest output being the best. If the device can't receive more juice, the additional output cannot be used.
When the battery is nearly empty you will see the biggest current draw - as the charge gets closer to 100%, the amount the device draws drops, until it reaches 0mAh on full charge.
My OEM wall charger provides up to 1000mAh, and the PC USB provides 500mAh, you will initially charge the device faster with the wall charger, until the current drawn by the device drops beneath 500mAh - after which point they will charge equally fast.
That, in the case of my phone (with a Mugen 1500mAh battery) happens around the 60% charge mark. So if the charger outputs are as mentioned above, you wouldn't see any difference in the rate of charging after 60%
HTC wall charger can output 1A with data pin short-circuit. PC USB can output 500~600ma or 1A on some laptop but no data pin short-circuit.
Fast charge mode is 900mA. It is on when data-pin short-circuit is detected OR on a fast-charge enabled ROM (or say, kernel).
Otherwise, it only pull 500ma.
Use your battery in your way. Charge it when you like. DHD can replace battery.
Stating the obvious BUT, of course, you can access your phones storage when connected to PC via USB for charging!

Also, be careful of using unpowered USB hubs - there may not be sufficient power on the port to charge effectively.

A wallcharger will always push more amps to the phone.
Don't get confused by people telling you, that wallcharging will damage your battery! That's just not true.
Every phone has an inbuild unit, that controls the amps going to the battery.
Charger outputs more power and therefore it charges faster. Some kernels have the option called "fast charge" which allow you phone to drain more power from the PC and allow it to charge almost as fast as via charger. You can not access files while connected to the PC if the "fast charge" option is enabled.
As already stated above, AC charging is generally faster.
Now many people say that charging by USB will make your phone last longer, but from my personal experience is quite opposite, plus, usb charging is easily interrupted (PC hibernating, stand-by, restarting, etc...). if you are comfortable with both ways (neither PC nor wall outlet too far away), use wall AC.
interesting, i noticed charging via AC (wall) gives my dying battery that extra oomph and seems to make my phone last longer in the day
I think Charger is always best than PC charging.

AC charging is faster due to a higher voltage and ma charge rate
USB uses a much more lower voltage and ma charge rate, it is true that USB charging is SLOWER and a myth is that USB charging does make your battery last longer.
On sense 2.1 I noticed my battery last 4 days with low - medium ussage because I only charged with USB but now I charge with AC with medium ussage my battery lasts a day.
With kernel tuner you can add a 4x4 widget which can tell you the voltage and mah raise / drain

I think the power if you charger the mobile from Charger it will be faster more than PC charging

Charging from Orginal charger takes less time then chargin from a pc usb
Charging from charger is faster, but charging from USB is more stable, as far as I know...Because it has a balanced voltage all the time. Not sure though. Just heard from somewhere.
Yesterday I purchased a Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 when I tried to charge it for the first time it draw a red X on the battery when I connected to the wall charger and it is charged but in very slow manner then i turned off and left it about 17 hours and when I came back I saw the battery charging picture on the screen so I turned it on and the battery has 100% capacity but after i remove the charger I feel it discharge in a fast manner
I tried to charge it from my laptop but the same thing I have a red X on battery when connecting it. I don't know what is the problem the android versing on my tablet is 4.1.2 plz any help.

Get a 1A charger or higher. Below that, it can only trickle charge or when it is off, as it consumes more power than it can get.

You don't supply enough info for us to be able to help you.
We need to know:
What charger do you use ? (stock charger or 3rd party charger)
What cable do you use ? (stock cable, 3rd party charger or using extension cable in combination with the previously mentioned cable(s))
Your cable & charger condition (very well stored & treated, abused or both);
Your GT-N80XX purchased condition (new,refurbished or used)
FYI:
GT-N80XX need around 2.1A or 2100mA in order to Fast Charge & a specially conditioned charger designed for GT-80XX.
Your laptop/computer USB 1.0 - 2.0 ports supply only 0.5A or 500mA while USB 3.X supply only 1A or 1000mA.
Third Party charger usually only supply 500mA - 1000mA unless it's stated clearly that it is a 2100mA charger.
GT-N80XX battery capacity is 7000mAh so you can count yourself how long it will charge using those power sources.
The cable itself also a bit different than most USB cable.
Most USB cable designed to only delivers 500mA up to 1000mA, some even designed to only delivers 500mA.
That's also applied to USB extension cable.
I also found many charging problem just because of the owner's abusive behavior toward it's cable/charger such as:
Trip over their cable/charger
Step on their cable/charger
Throwing their cable/charger after use
Rolling their cable in a way that it twists the cable so bad & breaks it.
"Broken" cable/charger sometimes seems to be OK,but it won't deliver it's full capacity when used for charging.
The Red X icon is showing you that the current isn't sufficient enough for it to do Fast Charging (2100mA)

Thank a lot for your reply.I use the original Samsung charger that came with the tablet with the original cable and I don't understand what do you mean by 3rd party charger but I read on the charger that its output is 5V - 2A. I read from another forum that the problem may be from the version of android which is on my tablet 4.1.2 but I am not sure about that.
I use a Samsung wall charger which outputs 5.0V and 0.7A to charge my phone (I alternate it with USB 2.0 charging via PC). However I checked CPU-Z after the battery reached 100%, and the voltage read 4340mV but health was in Good status. Unplugged the charger and voltage went down to 4296mV. So far I haven't gotten the Overvoltage status, but I want to know if it's a normal thing or should I use another charger?
Another thing is that when I turned on my phone, it had 94% of battery after a charge from 15% to 100. But did charge it again because I want to do a battery calibration.

It seems like Sony disabled any type of QuickCharge above 60% to prevent battery damage and it doesnt matter what type of charger you would use alter that - it will stick to 1000mA all the time.
Two things:
1) are you using QuickCharge charger?
2) do you or any of your apps use phone while charging?
Any of those would prolong charging time.

Try to keep it turned on then. I guess Sony could set offline charging to minimal settings and control QuickCharge with software. Try "Ampere" app to check how many ampers are you getting while charging (download from play store, no root required). It should oscillate from 700mA to 2500mA. If not (e.g. stuck at 1000mA) it means your charger could be defective and should be exchange for new one.
man. I got 75% in an hour while the phone was off :/ using the same charger as yours so there must be a problem, try to change the cable
Guys does anyone know if the USB type-C cable which comes with the non-fast charger is 3.0 Quick Charge compatible?? I've ordered a Anker 3.0 Quick Charge charger just wanted to make sure the cable is.
My case is even worse, tales 3 hours to charge from 13% to 97%

XZ support QC 3.0 so it should be able to charge from 0%(theoretically) up to 100% 1h40-1h50 using a QC 3.0.
During my few weeks i've had this phone (recived with UCH20 charger) i tried to test phone's ability to charge quickly and failed it took usually 2-2h20 min with original charger. I've ordered chinese charger (sony's UCH12W is 4 times more expensive, even samsungs and htc chargers are much more cheaper).
During tests (using ampre) i tried to start charging when battery dropped to 10%. I used 2 charges original UCH20,Tronsmart WC1T and 3 USB-C cables 1x original, 1x unknown chinese, 1x tronsmart(original included with a charger).
Conclusion:
UCH20 is slower, Ampere won't show more than 1560mA 10-60/70% then something around 1100mA and 780 or less 90-100%
WC1T is faster, 10-60% 2220mA (or less depends on throttling/temperature) then about 1500mA to 90% and less than 1000mA (usually 500-800mA) 90-100%
Tested with onvo adaptive charging on, stamina off, wifi on, brightness auto (0-40%), there was no difference betwen cables only unknown chinese cable was slightly slower but that is only my opinion. Battery temperature oscylated between 26-37/38°C(Ampere)
This phone will only fast charge up to 60/70% then it slows down a bit and last 10% is slow, it should preserve battery health yet still allow you to charge it quickly when in a hurry so u can use it for another few hours until you'll get back home and plug it for a night.

I ve recently brought Anker PowerPort+1 charger QC3.0 compatible and used stock Sony cable and max output I got was 2180mA max using Ampere too.. What my question is now what should the XZ be drawing max? near 3000mA?? Battery care Off.
Ive ordered PortaPow 20AWG cable it states its also QC3.0 compatible so lets see how much it get and if it makes any difference to the charge times.
I will post my results in the next 2 days.
