I ran Quadrant Standard benchmark test on both the new Droid Ultra and Galaxy S4 at my local Verizon store. I reset both phones before the test. The Ultra Scored around 8,800 and the Galaxy S4 scored 11,000+.
Do these numbers mean the S4 is faster and will have less lag? I know both phones take a different approach in how the processors are used.
Yes
More score
More better

No quadrant scores mean nothing. It was even released that Samsung is boasting those scores with no real improvement. This is the reason benchmark scores are not even looked at here.

my dear friend... benchmarks are good to know the hardware capability but it aint a measurement of REAL LIFE performance...
definately a phone which scores 10000 on quadrant is btr than one which scores 7000... but it doesnt means the one scoring less will be laggy.
and mate...benchmarks have nothing to do with lags. so i suggest not to bother with benchmarks (doesnt means they are useless)
Trying to decide between the Ultra and S4.

Benchmarks mean nothing if you're talking about real world performance. Also I've read that the S4 over clocks its GPU when it detects a person using a benchmark app lol.

Phone is different from PC. Not necessarily the higher score the better.

I have recently purchased my g2x and even though it seems fast it post really bad quadrant scores on all of the different quadrant test. On the benchmark test it was up to 2400 no can't get past 1300. Does this mean one of the processors went out.

Quadrant Standard sucks for benchmarks. It is inconsistent and gives odd scores, like the time I scored 24000 with my ZIO.... yeah right, this phone is lucky to hit 1080 with our new overclocked kernel
Use AnTutu Benchmark and you should get more consistent scores.

Does the phone feel laggy during normal use? If not I wouldn't wory too much about quadrant scores. Try running a Linpack benchmark. Your score should be in the low 30's.
No it feels like its running great just really low scores all around. Im getting about 18 on linpqck

Yeah i'm experiencing the same thing can't even get past 2000 and when i check quadrant about phone option it says i have one core pretty sure no one screwed up my phone when they shipped it... T__T
I think peoples experiences with Quadrant seem to vary a great deal. I tend to get pretty consistent results from it.
My Skyrocket gets way higher quadrant scores than a friend of mine's OGS2.
3500vs3100
Yet... On every visual test he gets 20fps MORE than I do? Why is his score lower? the phone feels faster than mine.
Thoughts?
Overall I found the OGS2 to be smoother with the animations, etc.
Graphic tests (2D and 3D) are only some parts from the overall Quadrant test (CPU, Memory, I/O, Graphic). If you're using Quadrant Advanced, you could see scores from each test performed.
What if you try other benchmark app such as Antutu ? You'll get more detailed result.

Most probably...
I was shocked to see the results. but in "3d" test, the S2 simply blew the SR out of the water.
And the OS itself seemed more fluid than the skyrocket.
I got 4000 on quadrant with stock Rom.....
Take that OGS2!
both phones are fast in there own way.
but let the pissing contest continue, as you were.

Strange Observation
Today I received my replacement SR from Amazon and I ran few Quadrant tests and was constantly getting 3000+ score, with highest being 3360. Without installing anything else I just rooted the phone with Easy Root and then re-ran Quadrant test few times and did not get 3000+ score even once. The best I got was 2500. All other scores were between 2200 - 2300.
Any idea why rooting the phone can cause this drop? I also noticed that after rooting, the phone does not feel as snappy as stock.

Its not the root.. Quadrant tests are pointless and the more you run them the less they get.. they are very erratic...
Antu or Cf Bench are much more accurate and true to form.

Its inflation. Quadrant is notorious for this. R/RW speed between the current devicesis pretty much the same, especially when they are all on custom ext4 partitions .. Hence why you can run 4 benchmarks and get 4 different scores .. notice the CPU and graphics numbers don't really flux to much...

you all realize that quadrant is only good for comparing devices with the same screen resolution, right?
The Gnex is running at a much higher resolution and becuase of that the scores will be lower in Quadrant.
Quadrant runs at the phones native resolution so the gnex has to work harder... I cant believe people still use this as their proof....

screen size does not necessarily mean more pixels and therefore a lower score, the S3 and the Note 10.1 have the same screen density so that shouldn't be an issue.
I would be surprised to hear the inferior US dual core version beats the International quad to be honest.
The s3 has over 300ppi, note 10.1 like 160. I only forgive that cuz of the quad core and stylus or I woulda done nexus 10.

Krait is not a15... Qualcomm uses the arm instruction set not design, a15 is a design. Krait is between a9 and a15 in performance. Qualcomm designs their own chips (from the ground up) and use ONLY the armv7 instruction set, so a Qualcomm chip will never be a cortex a chip

Everyone really needs to stop using quadrant, it is easily tricked. One of the simplest ways to increase score is a better storage format like ext4. Quadrant has a heavy emphasis put on I/O performance. You may also have power save mode on. CPU in exynos is slower on a per core base but will do better in multi thread apps. GPU between the 2 is about equal.
Also exynos is slightly faster than a standard cortex a9 because Samsung modified the design to increase per core performance just a bit
