I'm not new to root and flashing but I'm new to the GS3. Is there a difference between the roms in Gs3 section and the verizon gs3 sections. Im just curious why there are carrier specific gs3 threads and then a general thread. Can I flash from either?

They are all different and if you flash a ROM from another carrier expect to brick your phone. Read the instructions and make sure you have the correct ROM for your carrier.

The general GS3 section is for the i9300 international version. Flashing anything from that section will lead to a sure brick of your Verizon GS3.
Thanks for the responses!

D2vzw is the 'name' given to our variant if the s3 to identify it to apps.
Dunno what you mean by your other question.
O ok I was just thinking maybe Verizon put a updated version out cause of the bootloader getting figured out or something. So If I buy a new one I won't be limited on flashing anything right?

From my understanding (and it's very likely that I'm wrong) the idea between the 2 different dev forums is that the regular development forums is for TouchWiz (in this case) based roms and the original development is for aosp roms. However there are aosp roms in the regular forums so you got me!

I think it's more like OG Android Development are those built from source vs. those that are built off of a base which would be the Android Development section.
The difference in the forum is pretty much official vs unofficial. I.e. original would have the actual CM/AOSP/AOKP/MIUI roms and the other forum would have unoffical roms based on those.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. Looking at this forum I've realized y I missed my fascinate so much. Everything is so much easier than HTC rezound right now. Plus so much More development going on right now. I'm excited lol

Those are the different radios from different leaks. Use whatever works best for you.

Different modems offer different performance for some people but everyone's device it slightly different so as prdog1 said it's a matter of trying them out and finding out what works best (Make sure to make a backup before flashing and trying out any new modems). You can find a list of modems for the Verizon Galaxy S3 here.
What kind of performance are you talking about?

Mostly in regards to signal strength and throughput on data connections.
Also newer modems are better at switching between 3g and 4g. I use the newest and have no issue (HE)

Does it matter that the latest ota changes the case band version to vrblk3 and the post you listed lists vrlk3 as the latest modem or is that just an abbreviation for vrblk3 please forgive me if it seems it's a silly question as I am new and not sure

It's just an abbreviation, it's the exact same thing.

So i just got an I757M from bell in Canada. I did some searching and found that its the "Skyrocket" (a cancelled order for AT&T that ended up in Bell's lineup), so I wound up here. Am I in the right forum? If someone could just tell me if the ROMs here are compatible, that would be awesome. There are way too many variants of this S2!
Thanks

If it is truly numbered 757 then it's not a skyrocket and no, skyrocket ROMs probably will brick your phone.

It's Galaxy S2 HD LTE, similar to SkyRocket but with HD screen.
There are few threads for it in the original i9100 section, like the one below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707126
This device doesn't have its own support forum.
It's similar to i727, having the same SoC base, so you might get i727 ROM to boot and adapt it for the resolution. But it's anything but simple.
There is a cm10 Rom specifically for the i757m. The op is dsixda. I found it by googling galaxy i757m.

If you want aosp/aokp then go to Verizon galaxy s3 original android development and compare the many roms. If it's touch wiz you want then go to Verizon galaxy s3 android development and compare the many roms in that thread. They are all a little different and it depends on what your looking for. The links to flash are right there on the 1st page of the op. To ask someone for best rom and link sounds a little lazy to me. What if someone sent you wrong link and you ended up bricking your phone. Wouldn't you like to do a little research and make sure your getting the right zip? Just my opinion but what do I know.

I switched to T-Mobile today. I'm using my Verizon s3. I have data and can make calls and text. And I only get 2g....which is know is because of the radio in the phone. But I'm just wondering if I can put a T-Mobile ROM on my Verizon s3 since I have their service and what not. Its for nothing more than an esthetic thing for me.

A lot of the ROMs for the US S3 are shared between carrier editions. Which ROM are you interested in specifically?

Well that was going to be my next question. I currently use clean ROM. Is there a ROM comparable to that?
