Hello everyone,
I am using xperia tipo with cm10 fxp 230. Before that i had tried Gimlo and paradox on based of n stock. Wanted a taste of jelly bean, so installed cm10.
From the last few days I am facing problem. Random reboots is the biggest one. Whenever i start utorrent, the phone will freeze as soon as it goes to sleep. Missed my alarm in the morning cause if this.
So i wanted to ask, what is the procedure to revert back to stock ics. I have nandroid backup of Gimlo as well as paradox rom. Can i directly switch back to them? Any help will be appreciated. Thanx.

That's something we had on the x8 with roms that used the same kernel.
you will need a kernel that can dual boot ROMs and then its limited to the same kernel. so there's no way you can run stock + CM9 or CM9+CM10 at the same time.

Stock kernel runs roms based on stock roms (like xperience ROM)
Fxp kernel is required to run fxp cm10 ROM.
and afaik, the tipo does not have enough space to hold 2 roms at the same time (I might be wrong about this)
Sent from my Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet
Cm10 ~150mb. Striped down version of stock rom ~250mb.
Ok..thanks a lot

I believe its able to load the ROM from the sdcard itself. our multi boot kernel boots the 2nd and 3rd ROMs from sdcard instead.

Hi,
I'm a noob to xda forums but I have been rooting my Xperia ray for a time now. I encountered a problem with it after installing Jelly Bean ROMs from FXP and SuperJellyBean.
For both ROMs, data is not working. It turns on but no data is transferred. With FXP, I used FXP kernel. With SuperJellyBean, I used Fusion 4.3 for Xperia Ray.
Any help and leads that can help me solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
you will just have to reflash it with stock ftf.
Hi,
Can you point me to the download of this? Superjellybean instruction pointed me to .587 ics stock. I flashed using flash tool for Windows after changing kernel to fusion 4.3 before flashing sjb 1.1

All Sony .ftf files for their roms for the Xperia Ray ST18(i/a) can be found here:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239
Once you have downloaded the correct ROM, I assume you know how to use flashtool. Connect the phone in flashmode (green LED) then using the flashmode toolbox flash the correct .ftf file following the instructions in the guide above.
After starting the phone and making sure the stock rom is working fine you are free to flash a new kernel and rom as you wish. I recommend you get the latest SuperJB or FXP roms to make sure they have the least bugs and work as stable as possible
Good luck!
Xperia J Jelly Bean Discussion
Well we have jelly bean at last time for people to have there say, what they think, if there happy or dissapointed.
in my view im really dissapointed apart from the 3.4 kernel update and stock power widgets in the notification draw sony have given us nothing new at all. Google now, project butter are part of the platform and are not from sony. they have let consumers down again all this update seems like is a fixed ics rom nothing new. no updated walman, album movies, launcher or lock screen nothing. i no our devs will have no problem to fix sonys mess yet again but is not the point.
Any other opinians fellow users?
i am not dissapointed at all, phone is buttery smooth now thats all i wanted.

I am not disappointed at all. The performance is really great and better than in stock ICS but battery drain is bigger and there are only few changes like statusbar, settings.
When I updated it I was like: Um? And that's all?
Despite that I am glad that we got this update.
Btw, can we build AOSP for jlo?
I'm wondering if clean android would be better than stock

iv'e never been a fan of ASOP i always have preferred Cyanogenmod
I prefer CM / AOKP too but actually we don't have CM10 for jlo stable enough, not enough for me. I was using AOKP but since official JB came out I am on stock JB.
Do you think official JB can make CM10 fully woking on jlo?

Bravia Engine was never part of Xperia J.
I don't know how some people are not happy with the new firmware.
My opinion is that after this update the Xperia J finally feels like a real android phone from 2012 year.
Finally everything is smooth and runs like it supposed to. (on a single core CPU that is - can't ask for miracles)
I am very happy with the new update.

battery drain is the first problem i face after my XJ updated to JB
and the second is the auto sleep wifi & data connection that is so uncomfortable, already set the wifi to always on during sleep
but still its off everytime the phone was sleep
and huge lag everytime i unlock my phone after a quite long sleep
i don't see any real impact of that "project butter"
and yes XJ has limited hardware but sony still could make it better
REASONS TO CONSIDER CYANOGENMOD ON XPERIA TIPO
NB: I AM WRITING THIS IN ORDER TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT USING A CUSTOM ROM FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Well, it has been a few weeks I have played with 3 most promising ROMs for Tipo - Cyanogenmod, AOKP& Z-Fusion.
All of them were better than the stock ROM provided by Sony. Out of the 3, CM was was the most stable(atleast for my phone).
AOKP offered more control over the ROM but it froze more often in tipo. Z-Fusion was visually good(very good job done with the interface) but it lacked some controls offered by CM.
Now one can ask, why CM? Whats wrong with the beautiful firmware by Sony?
Well, there is nothing wrong with the official firmware but it is a heavy burden on the memory. The UI is eye-catching but it takes a lot of memory for the tiniest details, whereas CM has a simple and neat UI( the Trebuchet Launcher, gotta love it!!!) which is very lightweight and fast and responsive. The control over the behaviour of the ROM is what appeals the most. Starting from the lockscreen to its CPU, everything under your control. Lots of customization option available for the user.
The best thing about Cyanogenmod is that the in built apps are very memory friendly. In tipo, after a fresh and clean installation you get about 600 mb of phone memory. The original firmware of a new phone offers 450-500 mb of phone memory( it depends on region, 450-500 in my region). So those who are fanatic about their phone memory should try out CM as it is the most stable out there for tipo.
Hope this is useful to some extent.
I'm currently using CM10 (FXP212) and it is running very smooth.
I want to make a few comments to this:
- custom ROMs are overall a little bit less stable, especially if they're still in development phase, which all of Tipo's custom ROMs are. Although CM is quite stable since the few last updates.
- Z-Fusion is still based on an older CM10 build. That's where the partial lesser features come from. There have been some updates in the CM10 project since Z-Fusion released.
- AOKP is FAR from done.
Honestly in my opinion you should also cover some the downsides of Custom ROMs when you post something like this, because it isn't really objective like this.
I do agree CM10 FXP project is a wonderful project, but it was also the first so it had more time to advance and evolve into a great ROM. Give the other ROMs a chance.
Also, are you planning to add more ROMs to your review?
Regards, Drago
I really appreciate your opinions
This post was meant for upsides of the ROMs. However, I will make another post to point out the demerits.
Thanks for encouraging me.

thank you and i saw Cyanogenmod work more fluently than stock rom and i'm thinking install Cyanogenmod in my tipo and install a custom rom have compatibility with locked bootloader xD
I'm thinking to install CM10 on my Tipo, but still have my doubts, because I can't find any info about the pro's on the net.
Is it really really faster then the stock ?
At this point, my phone is really laggy at some point (stock). Even, when all the unneeded apps are deleted.
When I type a message, my phone laggs almost everytime.
That's why I was looking at the freexperia project, but yeah, warranty void :/
That's a big downside for me...

If you are looking for laggless rom stay away from fxp, at least for now because stock i much faster than cm for this day (fxp214).
I recommend you to use gimlo rom with pimp my rom tweak (aroma version) it makes tipo much faster.
To tell the diffrence here are quadrant benchmark results i got:
Fxp 214 ~1000pts
Gimlo 0.3 ~1500pts
Gimlo 0.3 + Pimp my rom ~1700pts
Try FXP221. U will find how great fxp rom now

Read the FXP thread, I have heard that the new versions are having some screen bugs and headphone bugs.
As of 221, its very stable. Just one bug i.e. Loudspeaker for calls is not working.
