Hey everyone,
New here... I have recently been trying out different ICS Roms, all very good and very well made. Although I am having trouble with my 3G... I have none where I used to have it all the time, or it does show but its greyed out and unable to connect to any internet connection.
Tried to google for answers but nothing really makes sense...
Phone Specs:
Model Number: Nexus S
Android Version: 4.0.3
Baseband Version: I9020XXkI1
Kernal Version: 3.0.17-ck1-cfs-g3580382 [email protected]#4

Did you check your IMEI?

Check what about my IMEI number???

Do you have the correct IMEI? Sometimes the efs can get corrupted and you lose your IMEI (gets assigned a generic one). If that happens you lose connectivity.

Ah ok, not sure about all that, how do I check and also how do I resolve this issue if my IMEI number does not match.

My IMEI number on the back of the phone matches what is shown System Settings>>About Phone>>Status>>IMEI

Dear Friends Am From INDIA,
friends am new here and am in big trouble i have buyed star X18i From Hongkong one of the seller has sold and am getting Network error every time when i try to call its showing an error containing Mobile network not available i am think that its a IMEI Problem i have tried all carrier sim cards but no use please help me this phone is of no use with out calling function, all other functions are working awesome and when i open about phone option its showing Android 4.0 so please tell me what should i do my dear friends????

Either the leaked/ported 4.0 rom the phone has has baseband issues

Its locked to a carrier

Mobile network not available
I bought a Star X18i in July, 2012. Android Version is 4.0.3, kernel version is 2.6.35.7
And I changed imei with this method;
For IMEI 1,
echo 'AT+EGMR=1,7,"123456789012345"' >/dev/pttycmd1
For IMEI 2,
echo 'AT+EGMR=1,10,"123456789012345"' >/dev/pttycmd1
imei changed, but mobile network is still turned off even though I have used a registered imei from another old phone. Same issue here

Problem solved. SIM1 and SIM2 are marked as opposite on the label under the battery.
The other problem is;
- Snapshot button does not work in Google Goggles and FXCamera applications.
- Drivea application sometimes does not display red and white lines.
I cleared data and cache, but I don't know how to figure out this issue.

My Rom is ICS,
I have been struggling for the past 5 days to resolve this issue on my O3D.
Im new to flashing Roms and basebands so please bear with me.
The phone just stopped reading my sim card and no network. I took it into an LG shop they advised that i upgrade from Gingerbread to ICS, so i used the LG support tool to update to 4.0.4
After this it reads my sim card, but no Network, No IMEI.
Tried 3 different sim cards to no avail.
I called LG and they said i need to update from the country i received the phone from. I dont know which country the device comes from as i got it as a gift.
What i noticed is that while flashing all these diff roms the baseband stays the same: XMM6260
KERNEL: 3.0.21
I am in Mongolia and not sure what baseband to use or how to flash just the baseband.
Any help would be highly appreciated please, im getting desperate!LG says i need to get the IMEI showing to fix the issue.

I can't find my imei under the battery. Where is it? is it hexadecimal?
By the way, Flashing a baseband file (fls) won't fix imei. You still get no signal no imei nothing.

Go back to GB over the KDZ UPDATE. ONLINE!!!
after that flash the KDZ you like over the OFFLINE method.

Where is IMEI ? i have this problem too

It should be a long number (something like 12 or 15 digits) in the battery compartment, unless someone removed it to steal it or for some other reason.
Man, LG Update tool is a piece of... work..., I'll say 'work.'

I had the same issue and fixed by following some topics here..just set a new imei (Original imei i mean) ...
i use terraterm which is handy for terminal emulation.

[Q] Data network problem

I have flashed the ICS rom ported from su760 and lost my IMEI no., I followed the general guide to recover my IMEI and now it shows my IMEI n.o. correctly, but still I cannot receive any 3G signal but I can receive phone calls. It kept saying network disallowed. I have tried to flash different basebands (im currently in US) but still this problem exists. I have read most of the guide already but nothings work....Can someone please help me out??

[Completed] Have signal but not registered on network

I have Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. When the google drive app was downloading from google play, my phone went off due to poor battery. Later when I tried to turn it ON, it has been getting stuck in the boot. So I decided to reinstall my custom ROM. Being busy with my baby, toddler, household chores and job, I gave it to my brother to flash the ROM. After a while, I noticed that my sim was bricked.
It says "Emergency Calls Only", has fake IMEI but working signal.
We did not backup the efs. I tried searching all the methods like modem installation, CSC, baseband verions, IMEI re-write, Kies Upgrade and Initialization, other people's efs restore, etc. But the problem is unchanged. Some of the followed method might have failed for not having proper knowledge like IMEI re-write tool works on specified chipset, etc.
What we noticed is that using different baseband version toggles from having network signal or no signal.
Kies shows more than four firmware versions and no other details like CSC, etc.
How do I clean up all these especially to have SIM working on my phone?
I appreciate you assistance to be brief and clear to understand steps than sending links. Because my time is stress-fully short.

There is some confusing info in your post
What do you mean with it has fake IMEI " ? Have you changed it ?
You say that you have a working SIM on certain basebands , is this happening on a custom rom or stock ?
Have you tried to flash a stock firmware as I see that you tried to flash "your custom rom " ?

First of all, thank you for your response and interest to assist.
My mobile's IMEI is shown as 004999010640000 which is not original. Can you help me to change it to correct IMEI suitable for my Samsung S3 GT-i9300 chipset, if that helps in enabling sim to connect to a network? I think changing method only masks the IMEI?
I have tried flashing stock firmware and also Kies Upgrade and Initialization.
I have also changed baseband version installation on stock ROM too. I don't know which baseband is correct to keep.. for my country India or in the country where my mobile is manufactured, incase that's locking sim accessibility? Some baseband bought signal and detected the network operator name, but the message still says "Emergency Calls Only" and is unable to connect to a network.
I presume this problem arose when installing custom ROM from TWRP recovery and it messed up with efs partition?
I had successfully flashed custom ROM many times before without this problem. I think there's some next step to follow to bring back the working sim like I heard of installing modem. I did just try installing modem but same problem as my baseband is already bringing signal.
I had tested my phone from sim unlock app and found out that CSC is locked and it limited specified MCC and MNC numbers. Is this hindering connection to Indian mobile network? Or corrupt efs? Or missed to manually install something?
