Mini Bullet Dual USB 2-Port Car Charger Adaptor
Input Voltage:12V or 24V DC
Output Voltage & Current
Port 1: 5V 2.1A
Port 2: 5V 1.0A
Is it safe to use the above on any port? or charge 2 phone at the same time while surfing for T-mobile HTC One S?
thx
38 viewers but no one able to answer a yes or no.
In what way do you think it might not be safe?
I doubt very much if it will put out a full 2.1A from the blue port with two devices plugged in.

The device draws power up to what it needs or up to what's available. If it needs 2 amps that's all it will draw even if the charger can supply more. The charger doesn't force power into the battery.

Your charger will regulate what it pulls...think of it this way, would you put your phone charger straight into the cig socket? Of course, well that socket has to be rated for more than your adapter our else it could only put out what your socket gives it to begin with.

Use only one for charge at same time because it get warm and can harm our devices.
you can use the 1.0 amp port without a problem or the 2.1 amp port if only if you need a quick emergency charge for your phone

Anyone know if there are any devices like this that has 900mA output (or know what output the linked one has)? Seems that's the minimum needed to charge the Charge via USB. My current one rated at 700mA does nothing when plugged in the Charge.
My friend has one something like this and I was using it for my Charge and it worked fairly well. I am not sure if it is the same one but they look the same size, I just used the usb that came with the charge to plug into it and it worked. It also works well with his iphone 4 if that helps at all.

I came from the fascinate and the wall charger was only 0.7A and the Charge wall charger is 1.0A
I was looking at some brands and found a Belkin Micro Charger for the car that charges at 2.1A (Says rapid charge)
Checked around for any other products and found this at newegg. $9.99 2.1A USB charger.

I just ordered 2 off of eBay. Will see how they work.

I ordered this one, if it doesn't work or isn't small enough I will prob try the $2 one from eBay. Thanks for all the suggestions.
I bought a dual usb car charger (it has 2 usb ports) that says its for ipads or tablets, and supplies 2A. It does seem to charge faster than my other car chargers, but I think it also triggers USB mass storage mode, because apps stored on the SD card aren't usable when its plugged into this. Is this because of the USB cable i'm using (a generic USB to micro usb cable)? or is it because of the charger?
this is the charger - although Amazon's pictures don't exactly match - the one customer supplied picture does, though.

Do the TF200/Prime/Other cables word with the Infinity?
I'm thinking about just getting a couple of spare cables here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GJR7GS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A1HKVQTYI2W24Y but want to make sure that they fit and work.
Also, (perhaps a separate thread?) Can we use any AC to USB converter (and cable) to charge the Infinity? The adapter bundled with mine was a bit more robust than normal adapters so I'm inclined to think no, but wanted to confirm before I get a spare one.
My cable from my prime works with the infinity....I also tried a cigarette to USB plug in my Jeep and it would not charge the Infinity
if anyone finds out if other USB charging adapters work successfully, could you please post about it?
much thanks

None of them will work. The charging cable for the TF700 doesn't use any the USB pins for charging. It has additional USB3-style pins hidden up inside the connector. Also, the stock charger outputs 15V which I doubt we'd find on any standard USB charger.

Actually, correcting my previous post, it can charge via a USB 2.0 connection (as on a standard USB charger) but very very slowly. The current is not enough to charge it while the screen is on. The display will read, "Not Charging" but it actually does. See the following thread for more info:

Umm... did you actually test that? I went through my charger pin by pin with a multi-meter and found 5 VDC between pins 1 and 4. Look closely at the charger, it says it can supply 5VDC @ 2A or 15VDC @ 1.2 A. The only reason for switching to 15VDC would be if they had some sort of feedback signal on pins 2 and 3 going to the plug-in adapter to signal that the battery was fully charged and tell it to switch to a higher voltage/lower current mode.
ASUS standard charging cable has 5 pins instead of 4. I'm betting the feedback you're looking for actually occurs on the 5th pin.
Hi
Im searching for a car charger for the nexus 4 that will charge the device even on navigation running...I now that the Motorola Rapid car charger was good with the galaxy nexus.I dont know if itS ok with the nexus 4 because on the LG charger it sayS 1.2A?I read that the Bracketron Universal Dual USB Car Adapte 2.1A will just work as AC charger if plugged in with a USB charging only cable...but i cant find those cable to order online here i Canada...and i dont wanna do it myself and modify a regular usb cable ...Soo if someone can help me it would be much appreciated.

You dont have to have a modded cable if your car charger already has the data pins shorted. Im using the motorola rapid charger too and it works fine, it will charge your phone as AC and give enough power to recharge the battery with navigation on. if you want something a bit better you can try this one , they ship to canada. My rapid charger broke so i bought it a few days ago. Reviews says the trident will give around 8-900mA, the moto charger outputs around 6-700mA.
I would only buy a premium brand here. If you see how no name mains adaptors are made... the risk of blowing up something expensive is just too big.
I wnent with the Sony AN-400 / 401, because it is rated at 1.2 amps exactly, is small, and was reported to work fine.
For some regulator disasters:
http://hackaday.com/2012/08/15/buying-cheaper-electronics-and-not-saving-money/ <- a USB car charger without components, putting 12 volts straight on USB.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi-b9k-0KfE <- teardown of imitation apple mains adapter, showing no output protection and very little gap between mains voltage and output circuit. Good info, but style of presentation is not my cup of tea.
So that is why I went with a premium brand.
that's one charger from one factory that some guy that didnt know what he was doing and ordered thousands, without testing them. He probably went for the 25 cent super deluxe model...
Well reviewed chargers from xda members here and not to mention the hundreds of people on amazon are a safe bet. Here's a 8+page thread on the charger i linked. Your premium brand name sony charger is made in china too.

That looks ok,but I cant find a good quality usb charge only cable that ships to canada :
I have a el cheapo usb charger from ebay and I used my usb cable that came with the phone...and when i pluged it in it switches from AC charge to USB ever couple of seconds back and forth...so I want to try something different.
If you're into rooting and custom kernels, most of them have a fastcharge option where you don't need to have a special usb cable, or, attempt to short the D- and D+ lines.
Monoprice has a 2.1A bullet charger for a bit cheaper:

i cant say for sure until i get it sometime next week but i think so. im in canada too and couldnt find the powergen anywhere that would ship here.
There are some other brands that are good too but i like this one cause it's dual usb like my old moto rapid charger. If you dont need that you can get some smaller ones that will work just make sure they are well review and can output around 1A. The one that bfspider spider recommends is a good bet too since monoprice is pretty reputable store and will ship to canada.

You can try to mod this one in the mean time, just take it apart and attach the two data pins(they are the two middle ones). Solder is best but if you cant you can just use pilers and bend the pins until they touch. i did this with a few of my chargers too and it works to make them AC but it wont increase the output if its low to begin with.

FYI, this adapter should allow most existing "iPad" chargers (1.2A or higher) + any USB cable to work well with the Nexus 4.
The problem is that Apple products deviate from USB charging standards. As a result, most chargers try to be compatible with iDevices and also deviate from the standards. So when standard-compliant devices try to follow the standards, the chargers refuse to follow the standards, and the devices get upset with each other. Fortunately, they fall back and settle on a lower-power charging rate.
If you want to buy chargers that are very clear on what they support, check out MediaBridge (also available on Amazon).

So i got that Trident charger that you recommended....the quality looks good...but when I tried it in the 1A and 2A port with the usb cable that comes with it,it shows USB charging but when I use the HTC usb cable that came with my HTC one S it shows AC charging....its so confusing and I just dont get it....that HTC cable is a sync and charge cable.
The generic T-Mobile car charger available at T-Mobile stores charges just fine. I believe it is at least 1 amp. Its black, has a purple white small led indicator when charging. The USB end looks like a little block and the cord is an accordion type and it also has a a female USB slot in it to plug something else in at the same time but I believe whatever USB cord you plug in there only charges at .5 amp. With this charger I can run navigation and Bluetooth and Pandora and message at the same time and it will charge.
Sent from my often RMA'd Nexus 4, So that I can use the one I'm using now when I get the 6th and hopefully final one.
I just dont get it why does it with one cable show USB charging and with the other HTC cable AC charging?:S

the original charger has a dual mode operation, if you stick a regular usb cable it will work as a regular usb charger - 5v @ 500-2000mah, if you stick asus transformer cable it will switch to 15v @ 1200mah
asus cable sport a usb 3 connector but uses it in an non-standard way, pin 7 is used to switch modes, if the charger find it connected it will go into 15v mode otherwise usb mode.
on the other side, the tablet wont go into "charging mode" if it dont find at least 12v on its connector so if you want to build a diy charger you'll need one that at least has these specs.

It might work but you will most likely damage your motherboard. Sucking more out than what is supplied will destroy it. Hence why FC mods are not highly recommended. Look at the specs of whichever computer you are going to plug that into. If it has sufficient power (most are standard 5v 500ma) USB ports. Just use caution. I personally just grabbed a powered USB charger. Meaning, there is a battery that can be recharged from a wall outlet, the charged battery then charges whatever i plug into the two USB ports. (up to 15volts) works great on my TF300T. However, i hardly need to use it. Battery lasts all day from a single charge overnight from the wall outlet.

You should be able to use another phone's wall adaptor, so long as it transforms down to the proper amperage.
