I've wiped my galaxy s4 completely only to find that no matter what rom try to flash, an error occurs saying something like:
Status 6 error, Unable to open package
I also tried flashing a different kernel and recovery but no use...it gives same error with all the kernels.
Please tell me what am i doing wrong here

You trying to flash trough ODIN?
And what Model phone, I9505, I9500 or any other variant...
If you're trying to flash with ODIN, make sure that Kies is completely shut down or, better yet, uninstalled.. This can cause problems.
When you select the rom to install are you trying to flash zip files or .tar files. ODIN on the PC flashes .tar/tar.md5 files only... If you have a stock rom in zip format, extract to the .tar file.
Same with root and recovery. You need to have .tar files... Don't extract any further than that...
Try a different cable or usb port if problems persist. If you still get no love try a different PC\laptop.
All the above instructions are for windows PC...
If you have an I9505 I like to root the phone then flash all other things using Mobile ODIN(I purchased it) there is a free version floating around the forum but it is worth the few $ to get the pro version...

Just like ausdim's deodex package, this is not a full ROM, it will install and replace only your system/app and system/framework folders so please make sure you are on the above stated firmware before continuing.
Tested on my ZHALI8 based GT-I9305 (TGY Hong Kong unit).
You need to have CWM Recovery installed.

That's the method I used. make sure after first odin flash, you let your device reboot twice before u apply cwm tar file.

You can use this package on ZHALI7, however it will not update your modem/csc/boot to ZHALI8. I don't think it's a major problem though, as it is just a software package modification and it should work properly.

Same here. Same as Asiafalcon Talking about. After flash the recovery.md5. Then reboot into the recovery mode, found that it still show me 3e.
I haven't give up so I tried the way from the galaxy note 2 topic from this forum, used the recovery and root file which is for the note 2. I though it may be the same thing since both of them are also using 4.1.1. Unfortunately, I've failed flasing and popup the yellow triangle on my i9305.
Finally, I tried to using the i9305 root/recovery file to flash once again on it and it can boot up well. At the moment, I found my phone can not detect my micro sim even if I've the newone. Does any one know how to fix this? Do I need to re-flash the original rom (with re-partition from odin) once again?

I'll state carefully and again, do not ever re-partition the device UNLESS 1) you have a backup EFS copy and 2) you are sure that the partition PIT file you are using is for i9305/T AND your specific model (16/32/64 gb), and nothing else.
I'll also re-elaborate my steps - after you have first flashed the Odin rom , make sure you install the CWM through odin AFTER at least two reboots. 3e will be gone once you do so.
Re: Kazumi
So the above step could fix my currently problem? Can I get back the 3G signal and detect my micro sim as normal?

should be, unless the device's NV data area (IMEI) is corrupted. Otherwise, I would suggest you to reflash the official rom first and check whether your device has a signal or not.
Hello All,
My N8020 is now semi brick after trying to flash it back to stock. It was on custom rom before but showing different errors so i decided to change the rom...First i tried to install another custom rom which was cynogenmod 10 but after intstalling this rom from cwm phone stuck at cynogenmod startup logo i waited for long time but still nothing. Then tried different versions of cynogen roms but same...After all this i decided to install a official rom so i flashed this with
N8020XXBMA3_N8020XSABMA2_N8020XXBMA1_HOME.tar
but now the real problem started..Now i can boot phone in download mode but not in recovery mode at all...Then i tried to flash a cwm via odin and get "PASS" messege in odin but still no recovery mode...Tried to flash to flash clockwork recovery several time but nothing changed and then i check in download mode the custom flash counter increase every time i try to flash cwm...then i searched the stock recovery for 8020 but when i try to flash it via odin i always get "FAIL"...
Now i m out of ideas and searching for a real solution....SO can anybody please tell me what to do next to get it back to life???
Regards,
Muneeb

You are correct, I can't find for n8020 either.

Try to flash cwm again. Don't check auto reboot in odin. When finished flashing cwm, press power+volume up, when samsung or whatever appears on screen release power but keep presing volume up until cwm loads.
Let me know if you have any luck.

I would start all over from scratch to ensure the files you used were for your device.
THIS IS THE AUTO ROOT PACKAGE FOR AN N8020. UNZIP THE FILE & FLASH VIA ODIN
THIS IS CWM RECOVERY FOR N8020. FLASH VIA ODIN
THIS IS TWRP RECOVERY FOR N8000 WHICH IS WHAT YOU WOULD USE. FLASH VIA ODIN
Its possible at this point you might need to run a pit file. Nand erase as well. Read into them before EVER attempting.

Hello,
I have tried these two already "CF-Auto_root" and "N8020-CWM-6.0.2.8-Darkman.tar.md5" but still same..But now my question is will N8000 twrp recovery work on N8020?
Pit yes it can be the solution but its bit risky isn't it?

Yes N8000 is the twrp recovery for N8020. Yes pit is risky but if you read into how to do it and follow it you will be just fine. Sometimes a device may require running NAND Erase also (meaning checking the box in odin). The biggest problem with pit file is people not knowing and just running it as if they were getting a custom ROM.

Thanks for ur time!
I didn't find a working pit for my n 8010. Don't worry too much about the binary counter, mine was 118 today, I reset it with triangle away. I don't have the balls to do a nand erase on mine, I'm not even sure that is required for my problem, at least mine is working.

Yes, dont check auto boot though leave that unchecked and if it passes reboot to recovery and do a data wipe then reboot. If you run into error add your pit file to the pit window along with your stock tar.md5 file and run it just as I mentioned before with repartition selected
Make sure the pit file you use is for your device model/storage size

Odin is the only way.
Try these troubleshooting steps for a failed Odin flash.

Odin can still flash the device while in the "encountered an issue, connect to Kies" screen.

I usually recommend a version of Odin that was released shortly after the device was released because those versions were updated to be compatible with the device, whereas newer versions of Odin are less compatible with devices that were released a year or more before it.

The custom ROM that you tried to flash, was it for your model number? Or was it for a different device?
Try different USB ports, try a different PC, try a different cord.
If all else fails, try finding a copy of your device's PIT file and flash that in Odin along with the stock firmware. Place the firmware where it goes then place the PIT in the pit tab in odin, make sure the "re-partition" option is checked in Odin then start.

Hello, This could be kind of weird but
Download the Unified Android tool kit
Do a copy of the frimware you want to flash
remove the .md5 extension from the file name of the new file
the image file should now transfer into a zip file
extract it in the Unified Android tool kit INPUT folder
Run the ToolKit
it will do an update check
now type 99 and press enter
a list of choices will appear choose the " create tar files from image files" it's maybe number 8 as i remember
now choose to make a separate tar files of each image file
once done , the tar files will be placed in the OUTPUT folder
try to flash System tar file alone without the other partitions.

EDIT: Flashing the exact version i had previously seemed to work, Odin gave no errors and everything is working fine, so if anyone has this issue, don't flash a previous build/update or it might fail, go for the one you had or a newer and everything will go as planned

Is there any other tool available for flash MTK devices stock ROM?
I have made a Updater script using USG tool and make a flashable zip but when I tap on setting/system/local update/my zip file then it says that it is not for my model device!
I think Scatter file also need bit don't know how to patch it with ROM zip file.
My phone has no recovery installed it says no commander in recovery mode.
I tried to install its recovery via cmd. It says pass but so flash tool says same error on recovery flash image.
I am sick this error.
Also there is no twrp recovery for Infinix smart 3 plus X627.
Can you please give me a perfect solution ?

Did you tried Odin, maybe it'll work. BTW, are you sure your device is official, I mean that it can give this error because maybe its not a official device and just a copy, but idk
