4.3 Tiny Changes - Android General

I just flashed CM 10.2, which is running Andorid 4.3. Two things I have noticed that are different that I have not read about anywhere yet. The signal bars status icon now says "LTE" instead of "4g" and the text to speech engine sounds a bit different. I am not sure if these are CM specific or 4.3 specific, but I suspect the latter.
To me the text to speech pacing sounds a bit less robotic, at bit more fluid, but the voice sounded a bit more tinny IMO.

Changing Trackball Sensitivity?

Is there a way to do this? I find for scrolling through text to be very slow, but scrolling through menus or selection I am fine with.
I second that.
Fully agree man.. too slow yo be useful
I, too, would like to figure this out. I switched from my Blackberry and the only thing I miss is the fact that the BB had a much better sensitivity level with the scrolling ball. I could whiz the cursor around text like a madman, but with the Magic, it's like pulling teeth.
Edit: Sorry, item #2 that I miss is the amazing battery life with the BB...but that's a whole other enchilada.
I would bet top dollar...yen...rupi...you get the idea, that this will be changed in the final version of the donut update as with typing it is way too slow but web browsing and other functions it's fine. I also noticed that apps seem to have indivudual control over the sensitivity of the trackball so all that's really needed for a change is the keyboard apps like HTC_IME or the Android stock keyboard and problem solved!
Keeping my fingers crossed!

What I miss when I give up and go back to TouchWiz

The AOSP browser (or whatever's in CM10.2) does a great job of letting one zoom on HTML text to a comfortable size, then double-tap the text to have it reflow to fit the display and scroll for easy reading.
I can't find a browser for TouchWiz that behaves like this... Any suggestions?
I also miss cm10.2's integrated WiFi hotspot and a hundred other fine points that I've grown used to...
But with CM10.2, incoming calls won't ring out loud when an A2DP Bluetooth device is connected, and the overall robustness of wireless data and voice seems flakey by comparison to the TouchWiz ROMs...

[Q] Samsung GT-N7105 Note 2 CM 10.2 stable update?

Hi. I am asking this here, since I don't have permissions yet to comment in the Note 2 thread.
I installed CM 10.1.3-stable on release day and there are obviously stuff missing compared to stock (like NFC and Beam icons (and the features too i think) in the pulldown menu, hand-over to wake from sleep, etc)
Trebuchet crashes sometimes too but not too often. (but i'd hardly call it stable )
But especially, I have problems with phone call sound quality and general buggyness when it comes to the phone part altogether.
I could not get CWM to install either (screen just flickers and continues boot, had to install some other recovery. (Pointing it out since the install instructions says to use CWM) I know the thread is for Nightlies, but i cant find a thread for Stable. And i dont have permissions anyway.
So i was wondering if anyone knows if there's any 10.2 nigthlies that are better than 10.1.3 Stable, and if it is, when will 10.2 be stable ?
Overall I've had a nice experience with CM 10.1.3 though. Not gonna uninstall. But i hope development will continue
Edit 1: Also, the meter for GSM signal strength also doesnt turn blue until you turn on wifi. But then both become blue if you enable WiFi.
And i dont think ive seen it deviate from 100% GSM strength. I used to have some variance in my house before i think. (but dont quote me on that one)

Text Smearing or Faded

I'm not sure exactly the technical terms to use to explain this. Hopefully there's a term for this so I can search google more effectively.
If I move the screen around it moves with the screen, so it's not a problem with the physical screen.
I've only noticed this in some apps like bbc news and waze so far, but I don't use many apps.
I have not noticed it in chrome.
I'm using CM11 KitKang. I don't remember or didn't notice if this happened running stock.

I've started using official CM11 Hammerhead and text is fine now.

Is there a way to change colors of the call screen?

My biggest problem with this phone is the god awful viewing angles on darker colors. When I leave the phone on the desk and a call comes in, the whole screen looks like a huge washed out mess because the UI for answering calls is of course mostly black and dark gray. I can't get over how bad this looks so I'm looking into modding this call screen. Is this possible? I've tried a few xposed modules, forcing full screen photos, changing default contact pics but none of them do what I want. Is there a custom ROM or anything that allows at least some modding of this screen so it's not mostly black? I know there are apps that do this but they're too buggy and limited due to how Android works. I'm looking for an actual mod, or anything that's actually stable and usable for every day.
Hi,
EDIT: my bad, I think I misread your question, sorry
I should have probably worded it differently but I didn't know how To clarify, I meant the incoming call screen, the one where you slide to answer or reject calls. I want to change this to something other than mostly black/dark grey.

No worries, it's me
Have you tried a third party app dialer for example?
I never tested them but it seems some have the ability to change what you want, like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=intelgeen.rocketdial.trail&hl=fr.

I used to have the same trouble after I've bought my N5. The washout used to irritate me a lot since I came from amoled panel before. Though after some time I just got used to it I found out that phone is not meant to be looked at from 90° angle and some other phones have even worse viewing angles so it's totally fine for me now i just accepted it as it is everything else on this phone has been absolutely astonishing

Yeah, but it should be meant to be looked at from diagonal angles. In the scenario I mentioned, ie when you put the phone on the desk, you look at it from such angles 90% of the time you receive a call. It looks absolutely horrible and screams "cheap". Even the xperia phones with bad viewing angles don't look that bad in such conditions. Why did LG decide to be cheap and not put an A-TW polarizer in an otherwise great screen is beyond me. It's literally the worst IPS glow I've seen on any device ever. It's hard to accept when low-end LG phones don't have this nor do cheap chinese androids.
Back on topic, sorry for the rant... I did try a few different apps but although they solve the problem, they're not stable or reliable enough for every day use unfortunately It can't really be done with an app. Are there really no custom ROMs that offer any incoming call screen customizations? Does anyone at least know how I can edit the default unknown caller photo? A few xposed modules can do this but none of them function correctly.
Xposed module called gravity box let's you assign whatever photo you want for unknown caller photo. You could also use hk theme module to apply different themes to change the dialer colors.

Gravity Box is the closest thing to the solution that I've found so far but unfortunately it doesn't work very well for me When I assign a default photo for unknown caller it works fine but when I try to call someone who does have their own photo, the screen starts flashing and I can see the original photo resizing itself. Don't know if it's just my device but it looks pretty bad. Is there a file I can modify to change this unknown caller photo? Or perhaps some ROM that has such feature included. I'm open to anything really.
