Screen died I think. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I have an old s2 sgh-I727r and the screen toned out and it won't come back on. It still works but no screen. I can feel it vibrate and turn on, also works fine on mhl if you use the screen for touch and watch the screen on the tv. Has anyone seen a oled just crap out like this? If I replace the screen is there a chance it could be something else. The screen is a $112. So want to make sure it is the screen.

check your inspires...maybe bad device

so after a week of wondering why my phone was off when i took it out pocket, i figured it out. for some reason if i push on the middle of the lcd and the middle of the back, the phone turns off! with little to moderate force. tried it on my friends inspire and it did the same thing. now i know not every inspire has this problem but test yours to find out.
no problem here
How hard are you pushing on it? I'm too afraid to apply force to it but I've never had any issues with mine turning off.

with very little to average force. its only in the center on mine... just wanted to let you guys know.
I just tried it pushing kind of hard. No problem here and it was right dead in the center although I did just get a new inspire through warrenty yesterday. So maybe its just the first couple of them
I would guess that it's a loose battery connection. Pushing it as you do is likely flexing it enough to break contact. Mine doesn't do this.
No problem here either.
It might be loosing battery connection just like Gene said.
Mine doesn't do this. Did u check how secure the battery cover was?

Well I haven't had my phone for more that 30 days so I'm going to take it into at&t and have them replace it.

Also I don't even think the phone turns off! When I push it the screen goes off but I cant turn it back on via the power button. I have to take out the battery and put it back in. Also when it turns off, I tried connecting my charger. The orange light came on but the screen never does.

has anyone noticed the little dots on the screen (under the glass) in the sun? I came from the galaxy S and i know it's AMOLED so i'm just wondering if that is normal on LCD?
It has to be out in the sunlight with the screen off to see them..

dead backlight and possible backup solution

hello GS3'ers my brother has some gs3 problems
his gs3's back light appears to have died out. he can still use the phone just can't see what is going on, the sounds still work and everything. has anyone come across this before? i told him to hold a flashlight to the screen so he's able to backup his pictures and what not but the screen is really black. which is his main concern right now, because he wants save his things and then return the phone if he has to.
any help is much appreciated, thanks!
My understanding of the GS3 is that since it is an AMOLED screen, it does not have a backlight. Each individual pixel emits light. My guess would be an app is causing the problem, possibly one that alters screen brightness. I would start by pulling the battery and restart the phone. If you see a boot animation, your screen's not dead.

that makes sense because the flashlight thing didn't work. he restarts his phone and even the boot logo is happening during a pitch black screen but the sound could be heard. it's gotta be something more serious

Screen turns off while using Papyrus

So I am studying and taking notes on papyrus when all of a sudden screen goes black.
And it's not like it went to sleep mode because if I hit the power button it makes a sound but does not turn the screen back on.
When I click the second time it turns the screen on, as if I turned the screen off and on while it was black screen.
Has anyone experienced this?
So far I have had this only happen while taking notes on Papyrus, I have 30min set to turn of screen and this happens during my note taking...
Also I am using GMOD SPen, to turns of capacitive sensor. -Maybe it could be the problem?
The only input I can provide is that under the same circumstances as you, ( GMD to turn off capacitive touch) and using papyrus, I had no such issues.
Something I feel I should share though, is that the spen latency is greatly decreased in papyrus on a custom ROM such as baked#8 but you lose the Samsung features.
Just my 0.02

Jack
What about Android Revolution HD 5.1?
I was having serious latency problems earlier but that was due to 2d gpu acceleration.
Once I disabled that I still see some lag, but it's much more tolerable.
Should I try the rom you mentioned, is the latency really that good?
So far, the least latency I've seen was with software called "write" although it has a lot of useful features Papyrus is still my favorite.

Well, if you are comfortable with taking a cwm/twrp backup the you can try it for yourself
I noticed a great deal of difference personally.

I've actually had the exact same issue, although I use LectureNotes: I can be taking notes from anywhere between 2 minutes and 30 when the screen suddenly goes dark (but not off). Pressing the power button turns the screen off and another power button press brings you back to you note-taking app.
I thought this was an issue with LectureNotes' auto-saving feature, but after seeing this thread, I'm thinking it's system-related (software or hardware).
Anyone have any insights into why the screen randomly goes dark while using the S-pen?

I have had the same thing happen to me while using " Note Anytime ".
I'm using the app and the screen goes completely black, wait 3 seconds or so and the screen comes back on.
I'm using the new B3 stock ROM.

I noticed that I am getting this while using the s-pen.
This does not apply to just papyrus, it just randomly happens.
Please let me know if I should return this to Samsung as I only have 90 day warranty on this refurbished note 10.1
Do you have auto brightness selected? I never have this problem when I use manual brightness but notice it when I use auto brightness.
I just open a topic about this before I notice this one.
I get this problem also, I had this with a few different apps.
And i use auto brightness.
I will try contacting samsung to here what there have to say

I've the same problem.. no rooted, original 4.1.2 galaxy note 10.1.
somebody said that would contact Samsung: have you any additional information?

I do have the same problem (with LectureNotes, but this is the only pen-focused app I use). Independently of auto-brightness, this should not happen. Any news from Samsung?

Galaxy S4 Makes Siren Like Noise and Screen Won't Turn On

Hello,
Unfortunately I have dropped my Galaxy S4, however the screen did not shatter. It only has small scratches on it, however the screen does not work and it won't turn on. The phone turns on and the home, menu and back buttons work however the screen does not display anything and it seems to be unresponsive. Everyonce and a while, the phone also makes a really loud, siren like noise and vibrates. I am guesing that this might be because of the low battery. I would really apprecaite it if anyone could tell me what to do and if a screen replacement would work.

[Q] How can I disable Display when using SlimPort to HDMI output

I may be a bit wrong but currently I am using a Slim Port to HDMI adapter to mirror my Nexus 5 display to TV while travelling.
Anyway I have to leave the Nexus 5 screen turned on during mirroring and when I lock the screen also the TV screen gets blank.
Is there a way to lock the N5 screen and TV still keeps showing running Videos? I think this is by design but just wondering???
Don't think so, as typically turning off the display would also turn off the touchscreen itself, so even if you could pull this off, unless you were using some sort of remote way to control the phone, it would probably be useless. You can however try some sort of third party app or tweak that allows you to turn the screen brightness either very low, or completely turn off the backlight, but that would still have the display running

Ok... Thanks the was my thought... Problem is that battery drains faster during video playback than it can be charged...

try this:

I've never used it but looks like it might do the trick.
