9500 Camera speed vs S3 and Note2 - Galaxy S 4 General

Hello I have the lastest 9500 firmware, last night I was at the club with my friends and when I try to take pictures with flash take aprox. 6-8sec to focus and take it.. My friends have S3's and Note2 so they were about to take photos in 2-4 sec.
Anybody have same issue ?
or mine is slow ?
Regards,,

Yes I have too

yep there is definitely little shutter lag on GS4 compared to S3 or N2 ( maybe bcuz the higher mega pixels )

Try to use the 8MP option and you'll see no difference at all.

Disable the auto night detection...

I use the camera on 9.6 mp and Night mode Off and its very laggy

Basically useless. No point using flash on anything that moves.

Have found a temporary solution for the same.
Please enable anti-shake control in your camera settings. Trust me the photos are going to be taken at the speeds of the S3 at least.
Regards

I didn't notice any special change by activating anti-shake on the i9505 personally.

I tried that one before but its same... Laggy on Flash shots Today I have insalled new Taiwan based rom tonight Im gonna try it..
Hope some speed will be ..

My i9500 needs using flash 2.9" even it is in 13mp or 8.
If I touch the screen so as to make focus, capture immediately.

[APP] Burst Camera

i found this app while surfing, by installing this app we can have burst shooting feature of SGS3 or OneX. this app have some limitations as it takes snaps on high speed pics will lack some details and quality but atleast we can have latest features
app have lite and paid versions.
LITE:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spritefish.fastburstcameralite
PAID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wiY29tLnNwcml0ZWZpc2guZmFzdGJ1cnN0Y2FtZXJhIl0
I'm already using this & thought most of people here would know about it.
With Super Video, Fast Burst & Smart Stay port Apps we can have some major features in S3 albeit with some limitations.
When ICS releases then we can have S Voice, TouchWiz UX(for those who are interested), etc.
Cheers !
but smart stay is still not working with sgr
and ICS is still far from our device.

That's not possible mate. That's just a stupid trick to earn cash. There's no mod can make your camera from 5 MP to 8MP, that's almost impossible except if you are a iPhone 4S, because there's the hardware to upgrade the camera.

Previously i had a galaxy mini which had a 3.2mp camera but i got a mod which made it 5mp........ Now i have a Micromax a110 with 8mp camera but with a mod it is now capturing at 12mp.......
And i myself have experienced it.............:good:
I just wanted to know if something like this can also happen over galaxy sl
it may just stretch to that resolution of that particular megapixel but the quality will be the same as the original megapixel or it just show 12MP at the camera apps but it doesn't have any different
this is hardware limitation and no software mod can do beyond that limitation.
May you let us know how u got 5mp in galaxy mini

No. You can't increase it to 12mp and with that hack you used it didn't increase camera quality, it just resized the original picture. Any "quality increase" is your imagination.

Agreed, done some research and found this thread. There is some explanation on the camera megapixel.
Although the Cynus T2 is having exactly same hardware as A110, still it is having a camera of 12 megapixels compared to the 8 megapixel camera in Micromax. So, the change is due to the difference in rom. Now, question arises why Micromax limited the camera to a mere 8 megapixel. The answer lies in the MT6577 chipset that powers the A110 (and T2 as well). Mediatek 6577 chipset supports camera resolutions upto 8 MP only, anything above that would only increase the size of the picture, no difference in picture clarity will be there.

[TIP]i9505 - Record slow motion videos in 720p instead of 800x450

In another thread, we found out that you simply need to add the SamsungCamera2.apk from the i9500 to the system/app directory (needs root) of your i9505, and the option to record in 720p is there, and it seems to be working
I thought this might be useful to many people who probably won't notice the question in the Q&A sub forum.
Here is the link to the thread : Link
And here is the link to my post with the SamsungCamera2.apk I have on my i9500 : Link

Indeed, I wonder why they did that, especially since I think it's the only difference in the camera software on both variants.

Yeah, though they didn't even mention the difference, and they even tried to convince people that the i9505 was as good as the i9500 because of the limited availability of the Exynos CPU so they wouldn't feel they got an inferior version, so this goes the wrong way.
I've seen no reviews mentionning that either, only users on xda.
Also, lazyness seems weird too, because instead of using the same version of the camera software on both variants, they went out of their way to implement a difference, which means 2 versions of the software to maintain and update.
So I'm wondering if it was because of the performance? Is the FPS the same on the i9505 when using 720p? or does it become more choppy?

Ok, that explains it then
So while this "mod" allows us to record slow motion in 720p... it does so at the expense of fps?
Doesn't really seem to be that useful then
Isn't it possible to force the camera to record at the same 120/60 fps ? :/
Mayb its due to limitations of emor-r sensor on i9505 over exmor-rs on i9500
Dont bash me..but this seems 2 b the reason for the lower camera quality on i9505..
Even there r some reviewers too who thinks the same...

Indeed, this is a lot more choppy than on the i9500.. I guess that's why they downgraded the i9505's camera software..
So I am guess it's either the different sensor or slower cpu/gpu.

Yeah, my guess is Chip optimization. The i9500 camera software is not optimized for the i9505 chipset. I'm referring to the CPU chipset and not the sensor module.

It won't happen, 5s has special coprocessor in it so you won't see anything nearly as good for N5.

From what I know, the iphone 5s records at 120fps, this is all possible because of a hardware combination of the camera, and their in house processor has a dedicated chip for this. It's the only phone that does this, the HTC One does this, but only at about 1/2 the frames. So I stand by my word. The N5 will not see comparable slow-mo to the iphone or likely even the HTC One. Source http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/17/iphone-5s-review/
The Xiaomi MI2 have a 90fps option without co-processor FYI
So I think the N5 can take at least 90 fps without any problems

G2 also has slow mo, to an extent. Don't see why we can't get it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crT0AmZWiUk

Had my kid wave his hands in the T-Mobile store. S7 Blur was very limited when manually setting faster shutter speed and higher iso... looked much better than my old Note 4.
Couldn't find dual camera front + back setting anywhere in the S7. Maybe permanently discontinued or maybe S7 just not capable of doing it or maybe they'll add it to the Galaxy Apps Store later? Any other phones (Samsung or non-Samsung) besides the Note 4 that have dual camera front and back simultaneous shot?
