just backup your files . Then, format the Format the sd card using your phone. After that, restore your backup files.
I've done that....

Do you have clockword mod recovery on your smartphone?
Boot into recovery, go to advanced and tap partition sd card, first you have to choose your size of the external sd card parition, afterwards swap size (select 0). Beware: all your data will be formatted, you should make a backup first.
I don't know your rom, but 10 min is definitly to long.

Yes i have.
So what will happen when i do that? It became faster to read? What is the importance of sd card partitioning?..
Sorry for many question..
Thanks for the reply and info.

hey rickwyatt,
Thanks for your work. I am have been able to flash the boot image using your steps. I partitioned my sd card using Miniool Partition Wizard and created one FAT and other Ex3 which also formated the card. When I now boot my racer having sd card inside it does not start. It stays on 2nd logo (Three) and keep coming back. It gets started if the sd card is not in the phone. Any idea what could be the cause of this issue?
Also your steps do not mention if the sd card (after partition) needs to be in the phone when applying above steps, so I did it with both ways but no success.
Your help will be really appreciated.
also, somehting to note that after having deleted the partitions and reverting it back to FAT, phone does get started even with the sd card inside.
Do you know if the above steps (flashboot) will write any data on sd card (either FAT or ex3 partition)? coz If not, then it means my phone is still rooted and I can look into some other tools to create the ex3 partition and see if it works.
-----
UPDATE:
After doing some investigation I found that the process required another partition of format "Linux Swap" (for more than 32 mb) along with FAT and Ex3. Doing this allowed the mobile to start with memory card inside and the phone was rooted. BUT I cannot see an aaps2sd application. Also there is no way in Managing Applications that I can move data. Going to try installing Apps2SD separatly now.
did u succeed?

[Q] SD card dead

I wanted to use swap over the sd-card partition. And i used MiniTool partition program.I followed something wrongly.I deleted the partition. Now the sdcard wont be recognised either on the PC or the phone.I would really apreciate help because it is a 16 gb sd class 10 card.i payed a lot for it,so i dont want to have 25$ in trash.:crying:
Boot into recovery and use the options there to partition & format your SD card from your phone.
And if you paid $50 for 16GB card, you got ripped off.

Me too I had looooooooooooots of doubts but after I partitioned it today regretted every moment without ext!!!!!!
So I partitioned it through CWM 256 ext and 32 swap and when using link2sd it's exactly like apps are in /data(widgets...)
I don't know about risks coz I didn't face any
PM me for any question I'm ready to help!
I too have a doubt when I partitioning my SD card all my data in it will gonna erase
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, partitioning your SD card will format it and erase everything on it, so back it up first.
The point of an ext partition is to extend the internal memory, so you can load it up with apps and not run out of internal storage. This comes in handy on the ov which has very little internal memory to begin with. With an ext partition, you can use apps like link2sd to create symbolic links to your apps, so they can be on the sd card, but the "think" they are on the internal. This way you can move apps that can't be normally moved to the sd, or use widgets, which need to be on the internal memory. I, however like cronmod's ext scripts. They can be put in the init.d of some roms, and they will move your data partition, and/or dalvik, and/or data/apps to the ext. That way you don't have to manage apps like with link2sd. In a sense, it's like adding straight to the internal memory.
To partition your sd card, the easiest thing is to do it from a custom recovery. You won't get to choose the filesystem, but you can choose the size of the ext partition and swap. Keep swap at zero, as most phones here won't use it. Set your ext partition to ~10% of the size of the sd card.
If you want a different filesystem than your recovery gives you, you can use the minitool partition wizard on your pc with a card reader:
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
Is swap partition really helpful for low ram devices and O1??
Do we need to use any script to use of swap memory or is it done automatically??!
Edit: Good info about swap partition.
hope this can help you!

Actually swap is not needed for o1.Even on ics i have about 150-200 mb of free ram most of the time, and if u make swap partition u'll get even more free ram.But remember unused ram or free ram is nothing but waste of ram in linux, unlike windows.

Rooting GALAXY GRAND I9082

Sent from my GT-I9082 using Tapatalk 2
I am new to Android os and this forum as well so I would be really glad if anyone of you would be kind enough to help.
My Galaxy Grand has 8gb memory of which only 4gb is available to the user and I am left with just 800mb space left, I would like to know if anyone of you can let me know a way to transfer my apps to sd card, also I have hears that one can convert sd card to internal memory after rooting, is that possible, if yes then plese let me know how, also is it possible to transfer apps to sd card without rooting if so plsase let me know how, I would be eagerly looking for a reply.

I'm not really familiar with that device but on most you can grab App2Sd from Google Play and it's self explanatory from there, but some devices (like mine) don't et you move apps to the SD Card, but you can move everything else there
And I'm no moderator, but I'm not so sure this isn't the right section for your question, I think it belongs in Q and A

After rooting you can use Directory Bind to link your internal/external storage, but that's not truly moving them to the SD Card, but I think it's the closest you can get. I don't bother with it, I just move all my big files to my SD Card so I have space for my APK's on my internal storage

without rooting u cant have memory swap..root ur grand and install init.d support. and reboot then install this http://d-h.st/AGR and gain reboot. this will convert external memory to internal and internal to external automatically.
use http://galaxygrandcenter.blogspot.in/2013/03/warning-it-will-void-your-warranty-and.html to root.
and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39510406&postcount=1 to add init.d

Thank you sir for the help, I have succesfully rooted my phone throught that guide, though there was a little trouble geeting the Clock Work Mode Recovery but finally got it.
Sir can you tell me the actual usage of CWM, can i get backup of my present status through this mode or do i need to use some app like Titanium Backup pro for that purpose and what info would actually be backed up, like would it store info of the present firmware and is the backup point created in the internal memory or the sd card.
Also sir can you please tell me that if I swap my 32gb ext sd card with 4gb internal memory then when I want to get my phone back to normal mode then how am I gonna do so, I mean the sd card would have let's say some 25gb apps and I want to put the phone back to normal, I mean unswap it then how would it be possible as my internal memory would be only 4 gb, will I have to delete apps or use some recovery option, please make that clear, thank you sir for all your help.

help with creating partition

Hi
i saw that im can incrase phone internal memory by a partition
how can i'm do it?
beacause im saw a tutorial on cm11 post
and how much partiton size i can choose?
because im saw that im can do 512mb partiton
and 1024 mb partiton
and if i making partiton the apps will removed?
If you create a partition all the stuff on you SD card will be removed.
512 MB should be enough for most people IMHO.
You can create a partition by using Partition Manager.

XDA is a global community and as long as your English is understandable you're good to go
That guide should work and yes a partition will allow you to install many apps.

thanks man, im try it
From my experience if you want to partition your SD Card, it's best if you first backup all you SD Card data to other storage, and then partition it using Partition Manager or Recovery like CMW, and than you copy back your data to the SD Card. On some occasion (twice to be exact) I found that partitioning you SD Card using Partition Manager without backup and clean up/delete all partition before creating second partition will reasult in read only second partition on android.

I noticed that too.It rendered my SDcard unreadable on CM11.I had to use other phone running JB to format it.
Also doesn't partitioning memory card formats SD card before partitioning (Except gParted)

You meant external (sdcard-ext2) memory? Then follow @akiratoriyama suggestion. Internal memory /data partition is fix, 200MB. And it's dangerous to repartition, AFAIK.
