its difficult to build a rom from source as it requires lots of knowledge about android and more over that the knowledge of Linux ,c c++ and other languages also
but you can try to port roms from mini 2 to ace plus
i tried to port cm 10.1 and was able to boot it but it had storage force close bug which was a big issue and was not able to resolve that bug as i dont have much knowledge about kernels and other stuffs !!

ahh, actually i mean Ubuntu For Tablet, not the desktop version. sorry for the mislead.
take a look here,

maybe
A place to start perhaps! Any takers?
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install
Lets do this.
I started looking at it this morning and they are releasing a porting guide tomorrow morning. I've already unpacked the images for the manta (nexus 10) and began poking around. I think we can successfully do this....since we've already got an armhf version started we could port just the interface and modules over on the base we already have.
I'll make a thread in the dev section as soon as I get more information and possibly a compile job started.

I would be totally interested in this. And available for testing anytime!!!!

Cant wait for this!! will have to get studying and try help out the cause lol, btw imagine it combined with this https://wiki.linaro.org/LEG/Engineering/Kernel/GRUB
Porting guides up here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
It would be very nice to see a port to the TF101 of this project. If the standard Ubuntu ARM release has been ported I hope it will be feasible for the Touch release as well.
Trying to port.....
Hello all! I have the tf101, and have tried the porting guide, but is says that it is not supported.... any ideas for workarounds?

from what im reading if the device has a cyanogenmod 10.1 rom officially or unofficially then we should be able to port it im working on it myself as well, im not sure we have 10.1 tho i know we have CM10 just not sure about 10.1 but if it can be done it will be. we already have CM10 and we have 4.2.1 jellybean so i would think CM 10.1 is possible and therego ubuntu touch....id be willing to bet that if you give it a week or 2 the dev section will be graced with a port.
EDIT: update there is a ew CM10.1 rom up now and that will open the way for this to be ported...just saw it in dev section...maybe a few days rather than weeks the porting guide is rather straightforward and theres not much to it...its really a glorified theme just running in a container on top of android even using the android video, audio, and other hardware HALS and libs(i do believe) i am only a beginner developer so dont quote me completely...

Won't it have to be an official 10.1 CyanogenMod build? Last I check (5 minutes ago) they only had CM10 on the TF101? It could technically be done with an unofficial rom but it would make it a lot harder than you suggest. Please see the CyanogenMod Device Info (sorry I am a new user so I can't make the link click-able wiki (dot) cyanogenmod (dot) org/w/Tf101_Info ).

Maybe somone else gets in this situation. i guess my mistake has been wiping system completly with cwm-touch
anyway, anything has been in internal Storage seems to be lost.
Now i flashed RogueXM Touch v1.5.0-R1 with easyflasher, in after booting into it i were able to access Android images placed on my MicroSd.
At least CM10.1 is booting now.
until i get my 10 posts ill post here
i sort of got ap scanning working, i messaged jholtom already how i did it. it involved some manual manipulating, next i try to sort it out
and again...
i have modified rc script to include my "fixes", resulting in working wifi. i will push my changes so it can be used anywhere. to setup the network connection i used phablet-network-setup included in built tools to copy the wifi settings from my laptop. keyboard still isnt useable.
here is the result:
youtu .be / KHpHp21aylU
the browser feels quite fast
and this is the install log from ssh server:
pastebin .ca / 2327138
again i am not allowed to post urls :/

[Q] I want to build CyanogenMod 10 for my Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330 myself. Help!

Okay so I've bought a samsung galaxy chat B5330 device back in feb'2013. Don't ask me why cause I conciously bought it. So I realised after searching for 6 months that there is no interest of developers in this device. so I have taken up the initiative to 1) Build CM 10, 2) Port CWM, 3) Root the device myself. However I don't have much idea about building android. I've rooted and flashed Custom recovery n ROMs to my dad's phone before and I'm a geek so I learn things quickly about computers n phones. So I'm nor a complete newbie neither a Master developer. Therefore I need help of those devlopers who will be kind enough not to discourage me. Anyone can root a device which is more popular because it gets vulnarable too quickly so there is no point in telling me that "you should have bought a device which has developer support". I am interested to be a developer myself n that challenge is really so tempting to me. So here are my questions which I don't have exact idea about.
1) I have a computer of the config -> AMD fx 6100 hexacore buldozer 3.3 GHz/4 GB RAM/500 GB HDD/Windows7(32) & Ubnuntu 13.04(64). Can I do the job of building roms from the source with this config in the first place?
2) Does galaxy chat B5330 support 'fastboot'? if yes then How can I boot into fastboot mode? I've tried with adb 'reboot-bootloader' but the device just restarted normally. So I don't know How can I get into the fastboot mode?
3) CM developers are really kind enough that they have put alot effort into making the wiki. I've got precious informations about building android from source and all. But I have a confusion. There was mentioned fastboot is necessery for building CM. So if my phone does not have fastboot should it mean that I can't build CM for my device at all?
4) How much data do I have to download? Do I need to be connected to the internet always while editing local file? n If I use 'repo sync' to update the code always won't my editings get overwritten by stock code again?
so these are few basic questions I have for now. I know I might not get any response at all. But there's no harm in trying. thanks

The best way to start is to use another Rom as base (get permission first) then start tweaking it with scripts, apps and build.prop tweaks. Once you start to get familiar with the basics, start experimenting with different tweaks. Since you are going to create a Cyanogenmod 10 Rom from scratch, I give you best of luck and hope many people will use it!
FINALLY!

[CM DEVELOPMENT] Asus MeMO Pad ME172V

Today my wife got this device as a gift for Christmas. She asked me to look at it and set it up for her. After about an hour of research I was deeply disappointed by the fact that this device has no ROMs or Kernels and barely supports ROOT. The device is kind of slow for 2013 due to its one core 1GHz processor. But I am sure this issue would be fixed with optimizations from custom ROMs and Kernels. I myself am not an android developer but do some coding in the free time and worked on a few ports of sense for several devices. On this thread I would like to get as many developers possible with the Asus MeMO Pad to communicate and collaborate to develop a working port of CyanogenMod for the device. I will be happy to help anyone interested in this project by doing some work in the free time. I chose CyanogenMod as it is probably the easiest one to compile and is much simpler than its competitors. If we get a successful build of CM then we can move on to developing Kernels and more complex versions of Android. Keep in mind that this is not a request for any particular developer but just an invitation to collaborate and build a working ROM for this tablet. If you are interested in working with me on this project please PM me or comment down below. I will be glad to help as much as I can. Thank you to all of the developers that would be willing to participate in this project.

Hi! I'm the guy that made CWM for this tablet, as well as the one on whos idea the whole root thing is based I'm very glad that someone picked up work on this tablet and is trying to make it better, since I don't have the time and I've lost my patience since ASUS is refusing to co-operate as far as updates and source codes are concerned. You can always PM me with questions as well as all or any info you have and I'm also willing to test builds out. Thanks

Hiya @nerotNS, I'm currently new (a noob) at xda-developers forum but since I'm actually getting a memo pad what better way of installing cyanogenmod properly than asking for help. However I couldn't help but to find the source code, and I did. I'm currently still learning so the source code wouldn't be of help to me than it would to you. So that said, heres the source

Hmm that's the kernel source code, we already have that Though it was in a bit of a strange format, plus I firmly believe that it's outdated as I think ASUS made some changes in the kernels via OTA. Thanks for your tip though,it's good to see that someone's trying to do with this pad

Hi!
I'm very interest in your work, but i'de need it to be 4.4.4 or higher, once there's a lot o apps starting to fail, by asking for android 4.4.4 or higher ....
Is it possible to work upon an CM lollypop?
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately I have tried to port kitkat to this device and it needs an updated recovery if it has any chance of working. Thanks for the support though!!
I did have a change of plans though. I will port Cyanogenmod 10 and continue the project with that rom.

its 4.2.2. And if you want 4.4.4 so bad, either get someone to port twrp latest or do it your self, I dont know how
Unfortunately I can't complete the material tomorrow with modified all files until ApkTool fixes all of its bugs because I can not edit any all files. I have tried multiple and when I rebuilt them, they didn't work.

at least 6.01 already avail t110 t113 t2xx, if those treads are already deleted then ask the developer to resend n refresh them. good luck

I don't believe these threads exist otherwise my months of searching for roms for my tablet were a waste of time. Maybe for the t2xx but not t1xx. Or you could send the link to them
I would be interested in this. +Thumbs Up+

Android Go Custom ROM for S II Plus?

Following the news of the Android Go release, I wondered if it would be possible for someone to port it to this old device:
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-go-news/
I think it would be awesome. Would it be possible or are we still missing something important?
The s2 plus community has died. I can do a port when it comes around, but without support i can't do anything.

This device has lack of support
See s dous 2 forum , the same chip device with this phone
8.0 : Yes
Miui 8 : Yes
This device is quite good , but real fact there is less real dev for this phone since ghsr

OT:
In that case, will porting a s duos 2 rom for s2+ work?
A Bad Guy said:
Maybe . My friend have tried to port s2 plus to s dous 2 and it works so i thought you can try
About 8.0 , I'm not sure . This dev didnt have an available oreo kernel that can booted oreo rom ( I saw @matteo0026 just managed to made it bootloop )

What about miui8? Will it worth a try?
Android oreo (8.0) of s dous 2 is highly unstable (just booted that's all) . Any way, it will be good, if someone could upstream kernel of s2+ (unfortunately no active expert developers fr s2+ , who could easily fix the rejects during upstreaming (or upgradeing))

Just checked s dous 2 forum & I can say that u r 100% correct. They got really good developers & good support
They even fixed screenshot & recent thumbnail issues of nougat rom (which is also a common bug for s2+)
Hats off

I think andoid go sources are out
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-pixel-experience-edition-t3717869
Moto G has AOSP based android go (8.1) nw.
But we lack dev's & support. So andoid go may end up in our dreams

There is one dev still working , i think so

Yes true.
We can't force anyone to work on a rom. Its all up to them.
So lets hope for better
Also Upgradeing kernal to 3.4.xx or 3.10.xx from 3.0.101 is necessary for android go or miui 8.
If anyone of u guys have a knowledge or experinece about kernal porting (or kernal upgrade) , pls try to port a kernal (can take committs from s duos 2) to our device
A Bad Guy said:
No no no
I think you are wrong
3.0.101 is enough for both , but it will takes a lot of cherry pick commit to boot up oreo or go ( more than 100 commits i thought ) . 3.4 and 3.10 just make the way to oreo and go easier ( maybe less than 50 commits )
3.0.101 is also enough for miui 8 , but i think the way this phone dev's port it is completely WRONG , that's why it cant able to booted up

If u have enough knowledge about these stuff's (port &upgrade),why don't you try upgradeing or port
A Bad Guy said:
Be smart , I not good at cherry pick
About miui , i not sure it will have bugs fixed . Problem not caused by kernel , it is caused by libs
But if you wanna try , i give you suggest : unpack boot of both rom ( cm13 s2 plus , miui 8 trend plus ) replace zimage of cm 13 ( s2 plus ) with miui 8 ( trend plus ) , repack boot ( miui 8 ) , flash and let c if it will it boot .

I already tried miui8 porting. But end up in bootloop.
When I took logcat, I saw a error of something like "bradcom tv error" .

Replace lib android runtime.so , android server.so , media_jni.so
Works ?

I already tried that. Not working.
I think a expert porter / developer is required
I quit working on it due to so many rejects
A Bad Guy said:
Try to port from s3
Just edit boot
Let c will it booted

In-case of s3, many changes are needed (I am not a good developer ).
Since community is dead, there is no use in porting any rom to these device. Even if I try that, I will not get any support from s2+ community to fix the bugs. (I know that ever since I tried to fix screenshot bug of nougat rom. Only I got support from ghsr & satcom886)

i really liked the MIUI 7 but it's a old android version.
MIUI 8 is a great alternative
Hope

I hope the s2 community does't die completely, do you know where i can download the 3.4.xx kernel for the S2?
