Basically, my question is the title, but is there a way to do this without the Ouya framework? Is Towerfall just a plain APK, or is it dependent on the framework? I have heard of TotalOUYA, but I was hoping for a way to play without having to install the entire Ouya interface.

The ouya framework is a dependency for almost all OUYA games sadly. Most OUYA games could easily be ported to the shield though.
Yeah, I would love it if I could somehow get my hands on Final Fantasy III, Ouya edition. That would have controller support and the best graphics of all the remakes.
Just wanted to bump this real quick and see if anyone ever figured this out.

As far as i know. One of the modders here was trying for do a full ouya rom port to the shield but to his dismay and tireless hours he stopped. every new version he trys just to see but he said its almost impossible due to what Ouya has done to android as far as patches and more goes. So at this point don't expect something to come out anytime soon.

Ok the other day my friends came over with his ipad and his iphone and showed me how he could play mario 64 on his ipad and use his iphone as a controller. Now why can't we do that with an android tablet ( tf ) and a android phone (g2x)? If so anyone know how?
No need fpr such set up we can use a ps3 controller or xb controller . Way better qith phisical buttons than touch screen
Yeah but I don't wana carry around a ps3 or wii controller. I always have my phone. Its more convenient.

Feel free to go and develop software to do this - I don't think anyone is stopping you.
it was a good point and not a super complaint.. don't listen to the haters, but good luck finding a dev for it!
It shouldn't actually be too tough to do. I could see someone building an "EventAgent" app, that lets you draw buttons on the screen to use any layout you want (even superimpose it over an image of a controller, like some desktop apps). Combine that with orientation-sensor support, and then just figure out how to beam the controls to the tablet.
have you tried an app called blueputdroid I believe, Ill link in just a mo
https://market.android.com/details?id=berserker.android.apps.blueputdroid&feature=search_result
It requires root, but the ipadrequires root/jailbreak to even play emulators from what Ive heard, Ive tried it myself using fpse and a couple of the yongzh emulators and it works great, although no multitouch yet.
I would be interested in this as well.
Hey hey calm down there. I love my android to death and will always stay true. I just wanted to see if there was something out there for android so I could have something else to throw in his face on how much better android is.

These arguments fall upon the deaf ears of fanboys. It goes both ways. There are plenty of Android die-hards (myself included) who don't want to hear any arguments against the ecosystem they love.
The only rational arguments come from a usability or ideological standpoint. Here are two examples:
Ideological - I don't believe a manufacturer should have any control over what software I put on or what I do with my device. My device is a tool, which should conform to my needs, not the other way around.
Usability - I only use this device for these three tasks, and since the alternative does not have support/apps for these particular tasks I prefer them to the competition.
If you are rationally choosing your ecosystem, the only logical arguments fall under these two categories. Otherwise you're simply buying into a brand, and thus you can't make any logical arguments.

Indeed....and that would fall under a fallacy of bandwagon.

Yeah if you wanna measure penises, using a PS3 controller or Xbox 360 controller is much more impressive.
If your gonna use a touch screen, why not the built in one on the tablet? I use the on screen controls for flights and stuff. Guy next to me had a DSi playing Mario which died mid flight. I was grinding my party in FF7 for 3 hours. He was impressed.
What about HDMI out running FPse PSx and a PS3 gamepad... that impresses my peeps.

That's awesome Just played it with my transformer and Xperia
Any other games like this?!!
There are several similar threads in other device forums so I thought why not start one here. If the mods think this is in the wrong section or a bad idea please delete.
We can also use this thread for the development of XBMC for Transformer if anyone is up to making a Transformer specific build.
Okay so as of the time of this posting there is no "Transformer XBMC" specific version so I'm using one of the generic builds. "xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-20120714.apk" is the name of the one I found. Link
Works:
Nothing - It crashes back to home screen after launching.
Bugs:
That's it for now. I'll keep monitoring this thread and post updates to the OP if possible.
I should note that this same apk works for my Galaxy S3 and my wifes EVO 4g with little to NO problems.
Same problem here, works on galaxy note and tab 10.1, transformer simply dies on launch...

It's not a bad idea but should be in apps and not development. Seeing there is no development just bug reports.

@bkmo - Good point. Can a mod please move this to the correct section? Thanks.
As far as development goes I was hoping that maybe we could use this thread to attempt to compile xbmc from source for Transformer. I've compiled on other platforms before but I have no experience with Android.
Anyway maybe an actual developer would be better suited to post a thread on xbmc development.
Check General section i had already started a thread for XBMC on TF101 maybe we can continue there

according the the xbmc wiki http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMC_for_Android_specific_FAQ#Installing.2Fgetting_XBMC_for_Android tegra2 devices will not be supported.
NOOOOOOO!
It works perfectly on my Rezound and my friend said it works on his TF201 but looks horrible.
It doesn't work because the Tegra 2 doesn't support Neon instruction set. The chances of it ever working on a Tegra 2 are slim to none.
That news is a bummer...

Its quite sad but I personally i dont think id have much use for it on my tf. Im running XBMC on my original xbox and I dont think you could get a better inexpensive media centre
You definitely can and it's a Raspberry Pi with Android or Linux The original Xbox doesn't seem to support anything higher than 480 because the processor can't handle the load, I've tried.

Yeah and you can't even find them anywhere. I've been on the official list for months. I have 3 original xbox's at home running XBMC but for all my HD media I have several apple TV 2's running XBMC. It rocks!
I can think of several applications for running XBMC on my transformer. For one, my kids can watch all my HD media from my local server rather than deal with Netflix's crappy lack of selection.
Check out this kickstarter project: Equiso smart TV. I'm thinking of pledging for one and hopefully XMBC will run on it.
Works great on HTC one X. I was able to download video add-ons, get weather etc. Only issue I had was tiny keyboard, had to use a touch pen. I have big hands lol.

Hi All,
I have the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity and installed the full working XBMC App.
There are some issues with the app. The keyboard on the dock is not fully working. Some keys are doing other things than they must do.
Is there someone who are smart enough to look into this and optimize the XBMC app fully for the TF700 Tablet?
If someone want pick this up i can share the .APK file from my dropbox
Cheers,
Peter
already a post about it here:

Interesting to hear. I use Plex and works well on it. Although, they have a good head start on the mobile side on things compared to XBMC.
More on topic, maybe you should report your findings in the XBMC forums on the nightlies

Plex for Android also the full working one.. on Tablet? I want try that also but can't find it on the net... grrr
Yes i will report it on the XMBC forum... this kind of media center apps makes your tablet a real machine
Plex for Android works on the infinity. It's the same design as the phone, since it's the app. I don't recall if it had that zoom function as other phone apps, but it looked good and worked well. But it was updated for Android 4, so it's not really a design for phone versus tablet.
I really like the idea of Ouya gaming console. Ive been toying with the idea of buying one as they say that it will be very easy to customize. The problem is that there will be no play store available. This means no gba/gbc/psx/n64/sega roms unless ouya comes out with their own version. This limits its ability to be a game console which will fit my needs. Is there anything similar coming to market?
Do you think the ouya will be hacked to allow custom roms?
You can always sideload apps on the Ouya.. Play Store can be easily installed on it if it is half as dev friendly as they claim..same goes for custom ROM's..

My question is just as the title says guys....... Is there a way to get the game playing on the transformer tf101? I installed it the apk way and then by transferring the data folder to sdcard/android/obb but it crashes every I try to get it going.
Is it compatible in any way?

Hey I'm part of the team working on Leo's Fortune. The Asus TF101 isn't a supported device, even if you didn't pirate the game
We had some compatibility issues and it doesn't quite meet the minimum hardware requirements to run the game. Hopefully you have a change of heart and will be able to experience Leo on another device in the future!
Hi, thanks for your reply. I guess I'll have to play it on the wife's tablet (a samsung)...... Not ready to give up on my transformer yet. P. S - i bought the game and installed it on my wife's device and then tried the apk way

I purchased it through the current Humble Mobile Bundle 9 which provides me with a DRM-free apk of the game. Just pointing out that just because someone has an apk of the game doesn't mean they pirated it. :good:
Didn't try installing it on my TF101, just stumbled across this post while seeing what, if much, my old TF101 is still capable of.
**** Before anyone PM's me asking, NO, I will not share it.
Get a log cat file. Check if they use native code, if so, it's probably neon support problems.
