Hi all,
I have been updating my wife's Infuse with the unofficial CM10.1 build by Scott. When I first installed my wife's 7/14 build (CM10.1, JB 4.2.2) we have NOT experienced any audio crackling. Several nights ago, my wife encountered the crackling noise in videos she's taken using her camera.
I know the issue has been fixed in 4.3, but since this is the first 4.3, I am not very sure that my wife will be able to deal with a few instabilities here and there (which has been the approach I've been following for my wife's installations; waiting a month or so for each version until it stabilizes a bit).
My question is: Is there a manual way of fixing the audio crackling issue (change a setting, edit a config file, flash a ZIP, etc.) that I can perform in the 07/14 build? Or is it a code change and I'm SOL?
Thanks in advance!

The problem is caused by viper audio. You'd need the app removed and the lib file...it would have to be built without it included ahead of time.. If you have to stay on 4.2.2 downgrade to the first version without viper. If you don't care then just update to 4.3

When you say it would have to be built without it ahead of time do you mean this isnt a modifcation that can be made once the rom is installed?
I would like to use Unofficial CM10.1 - 4.2.2 - 7/14/13 version of this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129 and not have choppy audio.
I cant upgrade to Unofficial CM10.2 - 4.3 - 8/5/13 because -
Cannot send or receive MMS because of crashing mms aplication
Front facing camera images with high ambient light crashes the camera (crashes or freezes whichever app your using)
Cannot use Titanium Backup to "modify" system applications (a bug in Titanium that only happens on Android 4.3)
Thanks for your help

No, it unfortunately isn't something you can modify on your own. As far as the MMS crashing problem I saw a commit earlier by slimroms that fixes that so Scott will probably add it in by the next build. The other problems will also be fixed in time, 4.3 hasn't been out long...just give it time

Is it possible for someone to create a zip containing the audio crackle fix that can be flashed via CWM? Or is that out of the question?
If someone can pinpoint the library that needs to be updated and with what version (i.e. grabbing a version from a later build), I can look into how to create a flash-able zip to fix the issue. I would appreciate it even more if someone else did it.

Hi all,
I rooted my HTC Desire S yesterday and installed Paranoid Android v1.9.7.
Phone worked well yesterday.
Main problem is
Today, there are some sound issues.
No sounds (like usual call connection tones) while making/answering calls.
You can make/receive calls, But, no sound from speaker/microphone.
Also, no ringtone sound. Just vibration only.
After installation yesterday, calls and ringtones all worked well.
Music (mp3) doesnt work now.
Please help me.
Sound Issue
A lot of JB roms have the sound issue. It seems to be a bug in all the ROMs based on Andromadus kernel 3 source. The bug is very strange, for some the problem is from the start, for some after the first call, for some after a few days of use, and for some this sound issue never occurs. Paranoid Android v1.9.7 used a previous version of CM10 as base which in turn was using kernel 3, the latest CM10 builds by nk11 are on kernel 2.
I suggest you go back to a ICS rom (fallout, ice_ds, etc..) or give CM10 a try if u want to stick with JB (I am using CM10 for 2 weeks now with no sound issues).
Thanks

Thanks a lot for the info, tech_gooner.
I rooted the phone with PA v2.14
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901739
After 2 days of usage, sound works.
I hope the PA goes for kernel 2.
I will go back to ICS HTC RUU, till new PA with kernel 2 comes by.
Thanks a lot, again.
I don't use my phone to shoot video often so not a major issues, but I current cannot record video on the default camera app (or any other camera app, when I attempt to shoot video it FCs.
Currently I'm running the latest build of Cataclysm ROM + faux 002m kernel. When my phone was running stock the video camera worked just fine.
Did you clear the camera data and then try opening it?
prshosting.org
did you try a different rom?
Same issue here. Allthough running stock rom&kernel.

backup everything. full wipe and reflash just the rom and gapps. boot in, setup and make sure everything is working. then, if you want to stick with faux, download the latest release (005) and flash in recovery. report back.

I'm rooted. Actually I don't know wether it was capable of recording video, because it's a replacement device and I haven't tried recording video before updating to 4.4.2.
But since recording video is not a big deal for me, I don't know if i'm willed to go through the backup-flash-restore procedure. Propably I'll do it when PA is available.
Fixed by flashing Franco kernel r24 :S

Days ago, I was testing CyanFox Nightly from 01/27 and noticed that camcorder, camera and gallery works fine, I mean, with other ROMS when I have mp4 files, opening gallery reboots phone; and video recording sometimes is borked or sometimes it just records nothing, but with that latest CyanFox there is no problem.
Is there any way to extract something like a fix (for camera and gallery issues) from CyanFox to another ROM?

Just general feedback those things depend on the ROM, and since CM 11 Kit Kat isn't official or stable yet. it depends which version of CM 11 they used.
Make sure you clean flash from ROM to ROM and if you have specific problems with a specific ROM. I would recommend posting a logcat to elp the DEV.

audio issues
Hey, just wanted to say thanks to Robbie, this rom is awesome. Considering this is an alpha build as well, it just feels so smooth and stable.
One issue im having is with music playback- the buzzing every so often. I've tried a few things such as installing Viper4Android etc to no avail. I was wondering if today's build fixes this?
If not, there seem to be loads of audio related merges to the cm12 branch this morning which seem to deal with the issue. Am i right in thinking that they'll make the next build?
Thanks again!

Can't flash File 4android with latest build
Hi,
I m unable to flash the latest build with v4a. Whenever i flash the lollilop mod of it with the ROM, all the ootb n play music crashes. However, the 3rd party players can still play. Pl .suggest how shd i flash v4a with this ROM.
I've been experiencing random boot loop, on a clean install. Not bad, but annoying.
Does this ROM support encryption?
Reboots from lockscreen notifications
Just updated to the ak 074 build running Blisspop and everytime I double tap a notification on the lockscreen I get a reboot. Any suggestions?
Since the latest i get reboots when getting a notification while display is off. But there is some time in between as peek is able to display the notification.
Good but...
Just flashed last build with v87 AK kernel. Seems as smooth as the previous one, but I've lost ~ 1000 points under Antutu benchmark (I can post details if required), and phone seems quite hot in my pocket as it was with other ROMs I used to try.
All features seems fine though.
Do I have a way to check average temperature over a period of time?

SD card problems?
First of all thanx a lot to ivanich and all others involved in the efforts of bringing up-to-date software to our manufacturer-abandoned hardware. Big thumbs up! :good:
I came to this rom some weeks ago from Albinoman887's CM10.1 which worked out quite well for more than a year now. Due to the space-consuming updates of the gapps i ran out of memory and searched for a more recent rom. Using this for two weeks now leaves me quite happy except one thing.
I expierience constant and sudden unmounts of the SD-Card, quite like papete mentioned them in the old thread for this rom.
Is this there anthing i can do on my side, to overcome this behaviour configuration-wise?
Could it be that i need a special firmware for this rom to work properly?
Getting rid of this problem would definetly let me use my Sensation for at least an other ten months or so.
@Sajito , seems like I've found a workaround for LPA seek bug. Could you test it on your builds. Also If I remember correctly there was issue with lpa and bluetooth - can you check this too?

I will merge that commit and make a build with that and lpa enabled.
I'll report back tomorrow.
Just remembered that in the last builds carbonrom seems to have a bug with playing music via bluetooth in general. It connects, but music plays always from phone, if lpa is enable or disabled doesn't matter. Gonna test it anyway.
dirty flash
Hi, I've got two questions:
Can updates be flashed as dirty flash? I flashed the ROM's previus version three days ago with full wipe, it's ok to dirty flash the new one?
It's mandatory to flash gapps in a dirty flash?
Thanks.

You can dirty flash ROM updates always. If you experience problems, do a clean install.
Gapps usually don't need to be reflashed after an update.
This is for every rom the same.
@ivanich I've tried that commit on my own for normal playback and everything seems to be fine at least on paranoid android. Carbon seems to have issues with music at the moment.
Couldn't test bluetooth yet, someone else needs to test that.
I remeber that Skype audio was not working when phone display is off, so I guess this could be a good test to try LPA, can't test myself unfortunately atm

@ivanich I just tested your latest build and even with that one I'm not having any issues with seeking with lpa enabled.
After disabling touch sounds everything is perfectly fine.
But for some reason in my roms neither in carbonrom, nor in aospa audio over bluetooth is working. May I ask you for your local_manifest?

So you built cm11 by yourself and got bt audio issues or it's broken only in carbon/aospa? Check repos in your build tree, maybe you changed something directly in code, in that case repo sync wont overwrite changes.
Seems I know why you are not experiencing issues with lpa seek. I've rebooted phone and start GooglePlay Music, seek issue almost not noticeable in this app, then I started Apollo and no seek issue again, but then I looked into logcat and realized that after I exited from GooglePlay Music it puts LPAPlayer into underrun state so lpa not worked after I've started Apollo.
EDIT: Returning to GooglePlay Music app shows in logcat that lpa is working again, probably there is something wrong with Apollo
