Fair enough. The crisis is over now, things are working nice and smooth, but I figured you guys... if anyone... would know how to contact the admins.

500 day
site has been down more than up for me today...
lets hope is back to normal now
I'm still getting the occasional error 500. Been gettin it all day. Though right now, I've been on the site the longest without it having given the error. Hopefully its up and normal again.
Site is normal now, at least for me
so far as I can tell it's back to normal, haven't had a problem in a while now...
seems ok now, but this morning it suxed!
I am now using test-1 without battery problem.
Yesterday I upgraded to test-2 but the connection problem never fix even I pushed the old libhtc_ril.so back.
Thus, I want to restore to test-1.
1. I first flash the test-1 rom
2. flash the gapp
3. nandroid restore to test-1 image
4. flash the test-1 rom and gapp again
This fixed the problem, I have been staying at 99% for 1.5 hours.
I don't know if the steps above really fix it but I only did these and finally using test-1 without battery problem
Lol so let me get this straight, u flashed the rom, extracted nandroid images and essentially replace those same files with another copy, then reflashed the rom. Where in this do you see the battery resolution lies ?
I think you wiped your battery stats and thats why you're noticing an improved battery life.
Other than that if im missing something please enlighten because the 4 steps could be replaced with one step. NANDROID ONCE.
Does this make sense to anyone? I don't get it lol, I don't see the solution at all. It's basically nearly the same as flashing test1 (without your nandroids and stuff) and your battery probably hasn't refreshed yet. Just because it has lost 1% in 1.5hrs, doesn't mean it'll last 150 hours. (Hopefully my math didn't fail there!)
Corroboration?
Has anyone else tried this? I'm at work, but I can try it when I get home, or maybe on my lunch break.

Hello
I confirm the above method also works with Bart backup, 1:30 after the battery is down to less than 1% having used a little video, yesterday in the night before, she fell 70%.
I thank you because it works on my G1.
Sorry for my bad English
so lemme get this right you went back to test 1 to do this, then reinstalled test 2 or just left test 1 on there?

My apologies for not putting the "known" into a cute, cuddly teddy bear, wrapping it up into a box with a big pretty pink bow on top. Then handing it to you and wishing you the best of time in life.
Sorry, I'm telling you like it is. If you followed cyanogen, or just about any other important dev, or even did some searching, this problem was already address a while back, and had a solution (as per the one I just gave you). So, I continue to tell you, and the rest of the people who are indeed, idiots, that they are, in the hopes that one day they will rise up, stop scratching their heads, and realize they are in fact, and idiot.
Now I feel that if I do this enough, maybe the rest of the world will get their thumbs out of their asses and actually make some kind of the change in the world instead of constantly looking for invalid solutions, an asking questions that have already been answered. I put a donation button their for the people who get this, and are not idiots. So thanks for pointing out your own stupidity, you saved me a hell of a lot of work.
Now, can we continue to browse these forums, and not get our panties in a bunch because big, mean, tehseano told you like it is, and just continue to search and read, and learn a little more about Android every day? Well thats what I'm going to do, but you're more than welcome to sit back and comment on this, which I'll probably get a giggle or two out of, and let the rest of my members of #teamdouche and my followers get a kick out of it.

In my opinion, Booker-T is just sharing his experience on how he got his battery to operate normally. There's no reason you should be calling everyone above your first reply idiots. Personally, I tried the battery recalibration fix off the Cyanogen Wiki with both test1/test2 with no success. There's a 30 minute drive between my house and the University I attend and my battery has gone down from 97% (when I backed out of my garage) to 82% (when I parked on campus).
I'm not trying to complain about my battery issue because I will find a solution soon enough, but rather address your rudeness to the other members. I've read thorough the Cyanogen 5.0.7 thread on this forum and on several others and from what I've seen, there's numerous people that say recalibrating their battery did not solve the problem for them.
Now before you go on to make another post about how we're all idiots, I advise you take a step back and think about the context of the situation: you're calling us idiots because recalibrating the battery didn't work in our cases and Booker-T shared the way he fixed his.
What worked for me was....
turning off the battery percentage display through spare parts. After I did that, my battery life pretty much went back to what it was pre 2.1 on my G1.
Sometimes there is no single solution to a problem. The last time I recalibrated my battery was when I first got this dinosaur of a phone last year.
You're all idiots by the way. j/k
Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't see how that is really accomplishing anything. Flash Test1, then gapps, then nandroid, then restore. I unplugged 7am this morning and am still @93% with light use.
Recalibrate your battery's people.

Hello everyone. I want to thank you all for this site, I have learned a great deal here and appreciate all your efforts. I have a question that many new comers have asked and they have been told to go read, so thats what I will do. I want you to know tho that its very hard when you have a baby, and very little time. I also want you to know that the only times I am really productive getting somewhere with my phone is staying up till like 4 am because everyone is asleep and I have the time needed to dedicate to all this reading, trying and learning.
I am not complaining, in fact I am grateful because I am getting somewhere thanks to your help, which has been more valuable than all the help Samsung and Rogers have given me washing their hands clean and leaving me with a defective phone. My problem has not been solved just yet, but I think a 2.2.1 rom will fix my problem. Ill keep reading and trying, ill get there.
I suggest you guys have a wikipage with a table with all the roms, what versions of android they are, what kernels, modems, etc they work with ( or not work with ), bugs, features, something all in 1 page for easy access. This would make it easier for people to access information. The easier it is the more people will use them and come here, the more ideas you will have, the more testers, its a win win situation!
I have been to the pages for all the roms, some of them tell you the bluetooh voice dialing is not working, most don't, id have to go looking for my answer. I have learned that for instance it seems people do not have an issue with it with froyo 2.2.1 but again, some roms tell you in the main page its 2.2.1, others don't.
I can't grasp all the information staying up at night till 4 am. Its the only time I have. I almost had a heat attack when I thought I bricked my phone, I can't afford another one. If all the important information is right there on 1 page, like links to the usb drivers, tools, roms, kernels, everything. Have the instructions to flash. Have a table with all the roms, their versions, what versions of kernels, modems, etc, they do ( or dont ) work with. maybe even some of the table cells are clickable, for instance bugs, click on it and a window pops up with a list of them.
I know all this information is in here somewhere. Thanks to everyone for it, but it needs to be on 1 page. Please make it easier for people who are new to this. You will benefit as well as them. Looking forward to being able to use voice dialing. I think it will be working by tomorrow or after tomorrow thanks to you guys. I could have done it in a day if all the information was right there .
Thanks for reading.
Try searching.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-I897
I have that bookmarked. It is also a sticky in this section.
But it doesn't say for instance which ones are 2.2.1, or which ones have the terrible voice dialing over bluetooth..
I do search and end up with over 15 tabs...
I am getting by, I am just saying it could be organized better for everyones benefit. It could be made so someone who has never done this before can get it done in a couple of hours if even, without keeping asking you the same questions here. I understand why people keep asking to recommend a ROM. It is not they they do not search, not all of them anyway. Things can be better organized.
I hear what you're saying, I think it's just that within the course of a month, about 20 ROM's have been released, if not more. And no one has had time to update the wiki.

+1
The thing is that its not just the number of ROMs, but also the number of versions that are released. It would be a real pain and an added overhead for anyone maintaining it.
Also note that most devs are working too, and doing this in their free time. The little time they have to spare is taken up for making improvements. But they do release changelogs to look into.
If anyone has time, I would suggest they take it up to create a wiki and maintain it, rather than relying or asking the devs to do it.
Try capfaq.com it has a ROM table section, and I've used it alot.
Same issues with being 100% up to date, but it's the best Rom table format I've seen.

It'd be nice if there was a modem chart as well. I know there are modems in the modem thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835272
...but near as I can tell it's not up to date, or at least the first page is not up to date (ie base Cognition runs on JL1 and Andromeda on JL2, but aren't on the first page).
If anyone knows a good and current modem reference guide, please let me know.
I can't complain too much because obviously things change all the time and it's a PITA to constantly update info...I'd volunteer but I got a 2 year old and baby 2.0 due in April.

How? What happened?
I have no Idea what I did wrong, my goal before I started was getting voice dial over bluetooth working for me, its essential to me. It started with trying to install paragon, as per http://www.capfaq.com/w/ROM_Table mentioned above.
I was stock rogers 2.2 so I wiped it clean, and tried the update thing, it didnt work. The only step I skipped was flash to stock and the master clear since it was 2.2 recently and I did the factory wipe. It did not work but I did not brick anything just yet. I figured most people tell you to flash with the one click odin which puts stock at&t on it. I did that and the phone stopped going into download and recovery, it did not stop completely i have gone into download and recovery a few times after that but it was a battle with my phone, since it was booting, I used adt instead which worked like a charm. at&t rom was not happy on my phone, it was going into at&t reboot loops where it would just reboot the bios over and over. after trying and trying it would boot android, i was trying to fix it but each time it restarted the reboot loop would kick off. I could not go to recovery or download mode till i finally got back into the OS and used adt to tell it to go to download mode where i reflashed my stock rogers.
My phone now had at&t logo on boot before rogers, which is not that bad but i had read you can get rid of it, i tried going into download mode with the buttons but didnt try too hard, adt was easier.
I was following these instructions :
http://www.mmacleod.ca/blog/2011/01/removing-the-att-boot-screen-from-a-samsung-captivate/
it wanted me to use odin to flash a file. I used my oden 1.3, i think he says oden 1.0, I didn't think it would make a difference.
Odin started to flash and said fail. I got the screen with "android ! computer", I have been there before when I first ever tried using odin and had to fight with my phone to get to download mode at the time ( this was before at&t ever came close to the phone, i never used odin before so i probably had trouble because of inexperience ).
anyway, this time no matter what I do I cannot go to download mode, I plan on making a jig today if i find someone who sells resistors in this little town.
any help would be appreciated. I dont want to put any more roms on my phone, i just want it to work. I am worried. Ill wait till samsung releases 2.2.1 I just want my phone back to the way it was when I bought it
As the person who write most of the documentation for Team Komin (the developers who make Andromeda), I would say this would be an immense pain. copying all of our information from the website, formatting it into wiki form and then posting it would be very time consuming.

True, but once done, it would be much easier to maintain and navigate. There is going to be a lot of crossposting and people asking for insight and advice.
I'm sure we all understand the search feature in the forum, but to be honest things change topic within a thread, and where someone asks a question that is somewhat unrelated and gets a very good answer, it is not always apparent by poking through page after page of posts to find that nugget of gold. I mean, searching for 'kernel' will give literally thousands of hits. A wiki would be much better in terms of 1. Where you are starting out from 2. what you need to do what you want 3. where to find these things, and 4. maintaining updates and version revisions.
I really appreciate all the work people do here, and I have had to find everything I wanted to know the 'hard' way, but as Android grows in popularity and market percentage, more and more people are going to come here looking for this information. Pobably better to do it sooner than later.
i have had it Guy's i am going to attempt some hard core development on this thing but i will be requiring some help from step 1 to finish.
i will be basing My rom attempt on the stock build 3.2 but i will totally change it to the best on my abilities.
all i ask is that someone offers me some help and/or buy me a beer or 2 coz its gona be hard to get this going.
i am quite new to all this so some ideas of what u want wouldn't go a miss and/or help.
thanks all.
If you never built a ROM it will take some time. Will need Linux set up obviously. There is definetly a lot of help online. Think you may run into same issue as garyd, no wifi module source code.
Best of luck, were all dying for a single ROM.
I have a couple cool things planned in the next few days for our tab.
Cheers.
Moved to General because this isnt development... not yet anyway.
Also, check around, there are a lot of good threads/posts here to help start you off... a lot of them were started and created by Gary.

I am starting this thread to maintain discussion of AOKP jb. Hopefully to pick up where the development thread left off. I'm not sure exactly why that thread is locked but I know that r4ins has NOT stopped developing AOKP for the skyrocket and it would still help progress that development if there were still a place to discuss. (I think it would also be best NOT to mention the circumstances that led to the locking of the AOKP development thread elsewise this one will likely end up locked shortly thereafter as well)
You can find r4ins builds in his goo.im folder. Since this isn't his thread there are no constraints on what will be considered "official r4ins approved releases". Basically anyone that downloads from there is testing. And other users can decide to run a build or not based on the discussion here. There's no lack of people willing to test a new AOKP build, so hopefully we can still post our findings here for other users. Kinda like baconstep's cm9 nightly discussion thread, except it's for us AOKP buttlings.
I didn't ask r4ins permission to start this thread but since we all creep his goo folder looking for new builds anyway, and we can't talk about it there, this would be the best place for it.
Link to r4ins goo.im folder:

Just make sure anything you download says SKYROCKET on it.
Test builds will be labeled as such for those wary of flashing something not completely tested, builds deemed "stable" by r4ins and the testers will be dated.

Not being able to off-topic your own thread is crap but such is life. Still not really sure what a certain MOD was thinking there but I'm sure he was just doing his job. Half of what made your thread so enjoyable was some off-topicness. It's nice not to see people so damn serious all the time in a dev thread. Let it blow over than make your decision. Stay or go you still get a ton of respect from me for your work here so far. Thanks and see you soon.

How are people getting 2 days on a charge? Or is that bs?
Bugs for 2012-09-14-2
Unfortunate enough, I am still getting ramdom shutdowns with AOKP. Version 2012-09-14-2 didnt improve in that area.
1 crash while the phone on top of my desktop and an incoming call arrived.
2 crashes while doing nothing other than moving the app drawer.
Samsung logo appears, and the screen goes black. Need a force rebook to get the phone working.
Going back to Samsung Stock ICS , Certainly these AOKP are plain fast, but as I depend a lot on my mobile phone, I need it to be stable

1st: After installing 2012-09-09-2, it first asked to join a Wifi Network, 2012-09-14 doesn't, it would be nice to have that back before putting Google credentials. Saves a lot of data.

If you wait too long and it picks up mobile data it wont ask for wifi. If you hit next, and yes to the gmail account really fast before data kicks in it will ask for wifi. I'm a crack flasher so i have that down pat lol.

Just say no to all that stuff and get to your home screen. Then sign into WiFi, then sign into Google. That's what I always do

One: by steering clear of smurfs village,
Two (and more substantially): by being connected to WiFi for two days. I usually only have to charge once on weekends, but during the work week I tend to get around 8-10 hours with maybe an hour and a half at most of screen on time.

But i have to protect them from Gargamel. So wifi uses less battery than data? Ill give it a try thanks. And thanks for starting this thread.
Thank you so much for your work R4IN you have brought much knowledge to our forums and left the influence of SUSE! Haha I have been on your AOKP rom since you released it and will continue to be! Don't let the less intelligible bring you down!
Not sure if this would be a luxury or not but could you make it where when a quick reply is made, it is cleared off of the notifications? Or better yet appoint me to where I can learn on implementing that!

Hint: Before you sign into google pull down the notification bar. turn on wifi then long press it. Pick your network. Enter password. Watch it connect to wifi. I can't be the only one who's figured that out can I?

I wouldn't blame you at all, man.
Downloading 9-14-2 to flash later. I had flashed the 1st 9-14 (dirty) and that didn't work out too well.. just a lot of flicker, and kind of janky all around. But it's cool, it wasn't ready anyhow.
So, is 9-14-2 the newest or is it still in the testing phase?
