The Defy community is the most united one in xda and I'm so sad that now I'm gonna have to leave it. I've brought my dream phone, the Nexus 4 yesterday. But before I go, I'm open sourcing Vibhinna, the Multiboot Manager, just in case someone want to resume the stalled multiboot development. Here you go..

Thanks for your work.
Can you write a small "how to compile" from source?

It's pretty easy if you know your way around adt. Just add HoloEverywhere and ActionbarSherlock libs and clear all the lint warnings.

Exactly how i feel! Even i bought a nexus 4 yesterday. Had an awesome experience with the defy+, especially the forum. All the devs were amazing to make our phone go places. So glad it was my first android device.

You can find the source over at Samsung OSRC. Open-source.Samsung.com I believe.

yay. now if someone can share with me on how to build a kernel things can get interesting.
Funny, I wandered over there and started downloading when I found this...
I've built it before on Captivate, I just never had time to look into the next steps... ie how to push it out as a rom.

Thanks for the info....Thread Closed & Thanks.
Why are there no fully-functional ICS ROMs if the source code has been released?
Sorry if this has been answered deep within another thread. I couldn't find it. Please make it easy and answer if you know. Thanks!
The source code was released for the SU660. while the SU660 is similar to the G2x, it is not identical. There is still a good bit of work involved in getting it functioning on our phone. The people who can make it work are diligently working on it, it just takes time.
Hope this clears it up

The devs got mad because you asked this question, so they all decided to strike, until you apologize.

been crawling through the g2x forums. its as if all everything stalled for this phone at the end of Oct. I understand the source code for cm10 has been released for the su660 and that it will only be a matter of time until we get something. idk. G2x is now an "old" phone. how long do Devs really work on a phone before they get tired of it? seems to me that dev like to stay cutting edge....g2x is now the dull part of that cutting edge. I love my G2X. no doubt. and i hope that someone will keep dev for it. i may have to start teaching myself this stuff just so i can make custom roms after everyone else moves on lol.:fingers-crossed:

Good one!
Go ahead, make fun now, yes that guy who bricked his Q (but then saved it!) is actually a s/w engineer and has opened a group for dev here. My expertise is really in real-time embedded c++, c, and .net c#/VB (control systems, servo control, drivers, hw/sw interface, etc - but have certainly done plenty of java, and read up a bunch on the Android standard interfaces and objects you are provided to work with. So anyone, for fun, for talking, even if nothing ever comes out, lets chat!
Joined!
I know a bit of C++ (pretty fresh, but haven't done anything with it in months) and can crawl my way through Java.
As an added bonus, I made a rom on the Droid 3 (but had a good amount of help).
Hi, this is great to see that you want to get people working together on this but as this is just a discussion point it doesn't belong in the development forums. Once development work begins then you can post that in there.
Thanks
AvRS

Don't know if there is already a thread for this so if yes point me there..
So for "wifi tether for root users" on our phone we set the device to "generic ICS/JB" device?
And is it "wlan0" or "wlan1"?
Finally why wouldn't a Motorola Razr device setting work, same reason as why a ROM for them wouldn't work on this phone?

Let's hope so. Because lots of XDA members are considering upgrading to the S4 only if it has a good developer support.
But like it says in the link, we can't know for sure until it's released. Maybe an answer around mid may *crossed fingers*

Seems like Samsung's really starting to flex their muscles with their sources now. What a shame. This one still does what all Android phones should be doing... having an SD card slot & a removable battery. Let's see what happens in time.

There is no point of this thread as cm team said THEY DO NOT PRE ANNOUNCE SUPPORT FOR ANY CELL IN THEIR GOOGLE + circle
So saying SS has flexed their muscle, creating unfriendly "environment" phones for devs. CM team quit due to the hardship will lead to many xda devs not support the phone. Now imagine that all mfg. such Sony, HTC, Motorola, ..... all flex their muscle ........................ then all of you will jump to iPhone?
Not sure of this is the right spot to ask this question. OK so here is the deal. My employer wants us to support Windows Phone 8.x. Well kind of difficult when you don't own one. Instead of them buying one for us, instead we have to rely on a stupid desktop emulator from Microsoft. Since MS has finally laxed the rules on what hardware it can be installed on, I was wondering if a Dev would be interested in making one that dual boots on my Nexus 5.

Even on the tabs with keyboard (eg : Transformer Prime) it wasn't possible to make windows 8 runnable.
There's no acces to the sources, so no chances to have the good drivers, etc. So, no, impossible :/

Not everybody cares about the member class .. You can help and contribute to xda with or without being a RC..

2 reasons why you won't see a windows ROM, and definitely not on xda....
1. If it were possible, I'm sure it would have be done already.
2. It would be pirated obviously.... Aka warez. A no no on XDA.

This is another account of mine.Unfortunately you and I both know that unless your "thanks" counter is extremely high or you have some title above senior people don't take you serious or even Have some "Team"allegiance. You might not agree with me for what ever reason but that is how most think.

I agree with the point you have made as well. My posts have been ignored many times in the past in the HTC One X forums and when a RC said the same thing, people followed him. Can't blame them though, it's human nature. Nothing can be done about it!

Not to really to stay Off Topic here... But @rootSU keep up the great work! :good: I personally appreciate your contributions and you still continue to be a staple in the xda community and have done a lot to benefit many of the fellow members and device forums. I've learned quite a bit from many of your stickies and general post and for that I Thank you!!
As you said... "You need to do what's best for you and by all means be yourself".
Edit:
To the topic at hand... I personally don't think that there will be any new development in porting or dual booting WP8 onto android, as WP8 is closed source. I think the best bet if you want android and windows to dual boot on a device it to look into the all mighty HTC HD2. Which lately you can find on swapa, eBay, Craig's list and etc... For an actually pretty darn recent price these days. I've seen a couple going from around $80 - $120 and they are in decent shape. I have actually consider getting another one just to tinker around with again.. It is a cool and fun device.
