liquid smooth Gapps? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

What other gapps can you use for version 2.9 liquidsmooth for the Verizon S3 I don't like the 4.2.2 because they don't come with nothing, I mean they come with Apollo and DSP manager but they don't come with gmail or maps or none of those Google apps... I'm pretty sure I downloaded the right gapps from goo too because it said "4.2.2 gapps" and "20130301" or something like that

Yea that's what I kinda been doing but still gapps are gapps right and if gapps don't come with gapps then that's not right

Aside from inverts, why do you want all the non included stuff in the gapps package? If it were up to me, gapps would only have 1 app... The playstore. I prefer all my apps to be user apps so they can be backed up and restored easily. System apps have to be set up again on each flash unless you manually restore data to the system app, which is generally a bad idea.

True true, but there are some system apps that needs some of the apps , just an example the camera uses voice search and the maps app for some features and if you don't have that than the camera force closes... I know that you can download all of those apps from the play store but still, the gapp package should require all of those apps

yea, you can "say cheese" and it will take a picture using voice search, also you can check the location where you took a picture and that uses the google map app

Weird market error

Ok. So I keep getting this error message when I try to download apps. It doesn't happen to all of them. Weird thing is I can download this app to my transformer with no problems and once it's downloaded to that I can download it on my phone using the my apps section. I'm stock rooted cwm touch recovery. I've cleared market data and wiped cache several times. Any help would be great.

Just clear the data for Google Services Framework.
Seems to work since I've done that and wipe Google play data again and rebooted. Thank you so much

I used to get a similar error back in the android market days. Some gentle google searches led me to believe it has to do with downloading too many apps in a short time period.

Np, had the same problem but it would happen with every download.
Interesting pwhoeler, I wonder if its too many in a short period of time, or too many at the same time (Or both) - may have to play with it.

Had this same issue.
For folks new to this Google Services Framework can be found: Settings>Application Manager>"ALL" Tab">Google Services Framework>Clear Data
Yea. It had nothing to do with downloading to many apps. Once I cleared the Google services data and market data again it was fine after aafter a reboot

Can't click on "Install" when trying to install apks

I been trying to search for this problem everywhere but can't come up with a solution for my skyrocket. When trying to install out of market apks I can't click on "install" when in the android installer screen. I can click on cancel but nothing happens when I press on install. Installing apps through google play works fine. When I searched for this problem on google/XDA the common problem seemed to be a third party dimmer app which I don't have. I have very little third party apps. Most are the basic google apps. I'm running CM10 12/28 nightly with apex launcher on AT&T.
I tried rebooting the phone multiple times. I tried stopping multiple running programs. I even disabled jelly bean's dimmer function, but no results.
Here is a list of all my downloaded apps.
Accuweather
AdAway
Adobe AIR/Reader
Angry Birds
Animated weather
Apex Laucher
Apollo
Battery Mix
Brain Age
Google Drive
Dropbox
Facebook
Flashcards+
Gmail
Google Goggles
Google Play Music
Google Play Store
Google Search
Gtasks
JeFit
Jellybean HD
Juice Defender Ultimate
Maps
Facebook Messenger
myAT&T
Rom Manager
Snapchat
Sound search for google Play
SoundHound
SpeedTest
Street View
Temple Run
Twitter
Visual Voicemail
Youtube
Zedge
This is really getting annoying...
Is installing third party apps enabled?

Sorry I forgot to include that, yep it was one of the first things I did.
Then I guess use a root file explorer and copy the apps to /data/app then reboot to recovery fix permissions and enjoy

I'm using ES file explorer but I can't find data/app. Under the data file I get this:

So the android package installer still doesn't work but for some reason the ES file explorer's own installer does. I was finally able to load the apk. ES is so much better than the CM10 file explorer. I'm glad I downloaded it. It's still annoying having to use ES every time I want to download a non-market apk but I guess it will do for now. Also it always goes to android package installer when trying to update non market apps which is pretty annoying. Any ideas as to why the android package installer still isn't working?
Thanks for your help.

Honestly, sounds to me like maybe you have another app that's set as default for APKs. I would go through Settings>Apps>All and try to identify an app that looks like it may be responsible for handling APK files and clear the defaults on it. Maybe a virus scanner?

I don't have a virus scanner. There aren't really any other apps that look suspicious to me. I really have no idea.

Don't get hung up on the virus scanner part of the previous post. Go to Settings > Apps > All and click on Package Installer. See if there's any data, cache, or defaults you could clear for it. Then you could always try wiping cache and dalvik in recovery along with the fixing of permissions as suggested.

Yep, rooted running recent CM10 nightlies.
there is an app that is preventing the installer from running, by looking at your list of installed apps start turning off juice defender, battery mix or any other bat app, if not those ones then its an app thats running, so you need to do it one by one and see which app is preventing the installer from running,
I believe this has something to do with apps that use a screen overlay. For me, it was screen filter that would block the button. As soon as I disabled, it was good.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Battery Mix was the culprit good call vincom. I'm surprised though never had this problem before I rooted, must have something to do with Jelly Bean. It's too bad I really like Battery Mix too. I don't understand why this happens.

[q] is there a gapps alternative?

This might be a dumb question, but is there an alternative to GAPPS? I don't really understand all this developing stuff. I understand enough to take my NEXUS 4 and root it and put a custom rom on it. I think its cool that we can find anD use all these options, and I really appreciate the developers tireless efforts. I just get a little baffled at why there is not a GAPPS alternative. Maybe there is an I have not been able to find it.
Any help or feedback?

play store removed one of my favorite apps, Adaway. i discovered it still lives on an alternative apps store called F-droid.... wow, i answered my own question.... cool ... they say necessity is the mother of invention
Google may remove apps for many reasons, but most notable is that if an app is discovered to be malware. Google not only has the ability to remove the malicious app from the Play Store, but also can remove the app directly from your device. So I would be cautious before redownloading that app.

Sorry to bump this old post but given the recent events and laws about data and all, I think I will live my life without google for the future.
Here is the thing we really need, open source play services : https://microg.org/
That way all apps should work without play service errors.

No Omega v9.0
Also running the latest play store which is 4.3.11
You can disable it (freeze) if you don't use google services as google+ or google play (and maybe others). Those two ones require an active google services app.
Anyway, it's useless to uninstall it because il reinstalls itself at next boot...

For me google maps need to be installed from the play store only !
Turn off 'wifi & mobile network location' in location services. Then go into accounts / Google and then click on your Gmail account/s. Un tick all the syncs you don't need. I only leave on email and calendar. Also check your Google play settings. I have auto update turned off.
I suffered from this problem too on omega v9 updating to v10 and above solved it for me

Detaching apps from Market

As with some of you, I do not like the 7.x version of Google Maps. So, I am using a 6.x version of Maps. Using Titanium Backup, I "detached" the Maps app from Market, so when I do a bulk or auto update, the Maps app is not updated. About 1-2 days after I detach Maps from market, using Titanium Backup, I notice that the Maps app shows up again in Market and shows needing to be updated. This has happened several times in the past few weeks.
Not sure what or if I am doing anything wrong.
How can I permanently detach an app from showing up in Market?
What could be causing the app to show up in Market after being detached using Titanium Backup?

I've been experiencing the same thing with the most recent titanium and play store - apps will detach for a day or two but they will still have updates in the "my apps" section.
Interestingly enough, when I get notifications for updates it doesn't mention the detached apps. Haven't figured out a fix yet...

Why not just turn off notifications and auto-updating in the Play Store, rather than trying to detach all your apps? I haven't quite found a time when detaching from the store is a benefit, other than if you share apps with people.

I never auto update for example, for a while I didn't want to update Google Wallet because you had to change your build.prop back and you could screw it up if you had it working. I like getting notified when updates are available for all my other apps, and just hitting "update all" in the Play Store when I have some time to let it update. Unfortunately, since I couldn't detach Wallet, it would always try to update with the rest of my apps whenever I hit "update all". Detaching it from the market would be perfect in this situation
