Hello guys.I have a question about video camera. As you know,Sony "fixed" the camera in 2.17 update. However,I still have an issue and I found a solution but I just want to know if it's just me or it's a general bug.I uploaded a video on youtube just to show you that when you record something and change the area in a place where it's different luminosity [ darker area -> brighter / brighter -> darker ] the video lags for 1 second. The fix is to select in Scenes -> Soft Snap or anything else except None! Here's the video:

fix: change metering option to average, no need to change scene
Doesn't work with your fix.I tested and it's the same

Try any other camera app for recording!

i just made a discovery and was wondering anyone else who has the same programs can check this out....
i am running damage control latest and the kernal modified for damage control for the novatek panels..so i get about 44 to 46 fps consistently now. HOWEVER when i use the stock camera application it behaves exactly the same as it used too before the fps kernal, basically in low light the frame-rate drops to something less than 19fps (19fps is about what the human eye can distinguish as "movement without blurring or choppiness") and the camcorder works the same way, so even though the camcorder is supposed to be recording at 24fps, in low light it really isnt. i bought the app "vignette" and its a neat camera app that has a bunch of really cool filters, well anyway BEFORE the new kernal it basically behaved the exact same way as the stock camera app, it would get blurry and choppy in low light situations (fps would drop below 19) however something interesting happed AFTER i installed the kernal! the vignette app actually performed better than the default camera app, it seems that vignette actually didnt drop below 19 fps as even in a very low light situation i could move the camera around and the picture wouldn't blur or get choppy. so this leads me to conclude that
1. something is holding back performance of the stock camera and camcorder that the fps kernal doesnt fix (which was already known)
and most importantly 2. it seems that maybe third party apps are NOT affected by whatever is holding back the stock camera!
so my theory is that if there is a third party app for video recording perhaps we can get proper fps video recording in low light situations....!!!!
I made a video showing the differences with my flip mino HD and its currently uploading to youtube i will edit the post with the youtube video once its done.
but if anyone else has a the modified fps kernal and can test this please let us know what you find. if you have vignette then try vignette if you have another third party camera app then try that. perhaps by comparing the code between the two apps we can see what might be holding back the performance of the stock camera.
EDIT for video
Very interesting discovery... I hope you are on to something here. Thanks
i just tried taking the cam with vignette... gorgeous!
what third party app uses the video camera? i want to test that out too.
this app is great, just downloaded it n i like it alot. gotta find a thrid party video app now n we would be set.
That would be sweet if an 3rd party app could fix it.
OFF TOPIC: Hey what widget is that you are using with transparent background and green indication lights?

yeah its switchpro
When i switch to video in the camera app the view is zoomed in compared to taking a photo. This is the minimum zoom level in the video mode but would be zoomed in a few times in photo mode.
Anyone else experiencing this and know how to fix it? I've had this issue with all the roms i've tried - ICS & GB.
It's really annoying having to stand far away from the thing I want to record

yeah in video mode the image is little bit zoomed ( i would say 2x max) but that will not cause any trouble at all you can still take videos of near objects with ease...
BTW if you want your video quality to be quadrupled try this mod...the video quality is amazing im taking videos of my niece and they are absolutely godly when compared to crappy stock video
try the mod if you have custom rom installed

It is very annoying and I find I have to move quite far back to record a video of something right infront of me, unlike just taking a photo.
Yeah i know about that mod and love it, it increased video & photo quality by 1000%

It's a problem with the stock gallery on ICS, maybe the leaked release. when you zoom in, the photo doesn't get zoomed in properly, try it with the sony's(?) album.apk in the themes and apps section. It works properly. Or you can try quickpic.
Or try flashing the gallery.apk via a cwm package... maybe that will fix it, however when i installed xxlq7 via odin, my problem went away...
Hello, I only just got the HTC ONE mini yesterday and just trying to get to grips with a couple of things, mainly the stills camera. I can see in the setting you can change the video resolution but I cannot for the life of me see where you can lower the resolution of the camera say if i want to shoot in 1024x768 or 640x480 - can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Also when I have taken the photo how can i go and adjust the brightness and colour and contrast and sharpness of the photo before sharing it using the inbuilt htc camer app rather than having to download snapseed or another post processing app? - I have tried 'edit' and then 'retouch' but rather than sliders for brightness contrast and saturation etc it just gives skin smooth face lighting face contour etc but no control of photo brightness or anything else - thanks for any help.
Hi guys,
I am using latest global stable rom (7.5.1) and i noticed something wrong with instagram. As you all know instagram released new update and you can use the instagram like @snapchat which you can upload your story. I liked the app. But the problem is when you upload a story you have to take a picture or record video inside of the application. When i try to do that simply the rear camera picture or video quality is amazingly poor.
Any other one faced the issue? And any solution you you can provide?
Btw I tried global developer rom latest version as well (6.7.29) which came back to same issue as well.
Waiting for your feedbacks. Thanks.
After few tries..
Well ok what i found out after few tries is quite funny and simple. The problem is not the camera drivers or device specs.
Instagram app is automatically selecting the lowest quality video recording option. What i am trying to say is; since rear camera has recording options ( sd, hd, full hd, 4k) the app is making the lowest quality selection by itself. When it comes to front camera since there is no option to choose the quality of front camera video recording then instgram takes the fixed one which is already full hd ( you can find video recording settings inside of camera app for both rear and front cameras) I believe this is done due to decrease the data consumption.
So now the case is if we can simply remove the option of 'SD Video Recording of the back camera' then we can post good quality videos on instagram
So if someone know, how the camera recording quality can be removed from the system please let me know
Thanks in advance
