I was wondering if there would ever be an XDA application available to android on the market. Seems like it would be pretty sweet.
Anyone else think so?
Any developers out there that would like to give this a go?
well umm, its an alright idea, but since i own a nexus, browsing http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=556 is rather easy and fast with even low 3g signal
I understand its available to view on the nexus, I have one and it does do a good job for viewing. Just thought a native app would be nice to have.
It actually came out, Congrats to XDA for this milestone
yea i just downloaded it earlier this morning
its great in concept but it takes way to long to load the thread lists.
http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/official-xda-developers-android-app-released-today/
i am typing on the official xda app right now and it works much faster to ne on my n1 than going through the browser. its funny how android got a workable official app before winmo did

yea I saw it on a Sig searched xda on the market and now I'm a happy camper. typing from the xda app right now
Never mind.. I was stupid for a second there.

This right here is the only reason I will not use this app. I don't need everyone knowing that I used the app to post on the site. Obviously if I posted I know about the website, and the only reason someone would use the app is if they liked xda developers, or simply wanted to post here.
So why do we need the extra notification, legal purposes? Advertisement? Credit?

Oh my gawd.. sorry for such harsh complaining without investigating. Now I will use the app, lol.
ya, i turned my off
I don't think I see the point to this. Wouldn't a mobile version of the webpage be enough for this? I certainly wouldn't want a separate app for every forum I visit.
Excellent. Worth downloading.
Wow, very nice app !!

you didn't rate the app on the marketplace before figuring this out, did you?
Is there any way to make it so that when you tap the Forums tab, that it goes to the Nexus One forum by default so we don't have to scroll through the list to find it?

My only complaint so far. I only every read the N1 stuff.
Same here..that and the text could be formatted better.
Looking for three or four people to test the new XDA Andriod application. It is mostly fully functional (reading, posting, PMs, etc.).
It will be free for the community soon, but if you want to be one of the first to try it, send me a PM with your email address.
I will edit this post once I have enough people.
EDIT: Have enough testers for now. Thanks for the help.
Testing.

Works great
But would it be possible to have only defined sub forums, show up under the latest tab?
Or maybe it would be possible to split android and windows?
And what about search?

More than 10 post per page had also been nice

Except for the known forum titles cut off bug, everything seems to work great on my Nexus as well.
Thanks

Really looking forward to this app! I find it weird that xda-developers doesn't have a mobile version of their forum, this app will solve that problem nicely I hope.

Any updates on the availability of this app? It's sorely needed... Or at the very least, it'd be great if XDA created a mobile version of the site. Browsing on a mobile phone, while possible, is a pretty painful experience. In any case, thanks for working on the app. I can't wait to give it a try!

it is a closed beta unfortunatley so you wont find it. although i hope he will open it up soon for others to try........
Strange they haven't released it yet. I haven't found any bugs on either my Liquid or Nexus, and it seems nobody else have either.

It may be locked to a particular version. I don't have a Sapphire anymore (1.5) so I cannot check; in any case it's useless without decent forums on there I'm sure soon XDA will be available. I'm heading out but worst case I can send you the APK to try and see if it'll work.
Well i just got this bad boy yesterday. Hardly able to put it down when I'm at home already.
Haven't gotten round to root yet. This weekend be the big event...lol.
So im hoping you guys can give me a few ideas as to the best roms and features available.
What rom do you guys use? Any favorites? And why? Too many questions I know.
Thanks in advance.

^^^^hmmmm. Well i was more curious as to what most folks were using as their daily driver rather than seeking advice as to how to root the device, but thanks anyway.
Still. If anyone can recommend any good mods or roms or themes etc it would be appreciated.

Check your serial number, if it's >B70 then it's not rootable. Yes they are working on it but it's been almost 2 months and nothing. Appears to be locked down in hardware and thus not by-passible via the usual tricks of the past. Most likely it's because of DRM if I had to guess.
If your serial is B70xxxxx check it anyway, some of the B70's may be rootable if they still have the older SBKv1 ROM (or whatever it is).
Mine's going back (B80 serial) - it's a dead duck.
I suggest you return it and get something else so you wont clog the forum with the same stupid questions that have been asked hundreds of times.

Right...i just checked the serial number and it looks like I'm safe. Phew!

It'll be fine. I'm sure an update will be on the way tonight. Last I read he did up a new base anyways, so, yeah, we'll see.
The multitudes of people that are wandering what's going on I'm sure Sean or a mod will have a direct answer at some point.
I really hope they let him update his ROM..
was kind of wondering why his thread got locked, i figured they could just remove the links and let him re-up without the dropbox apk later, but either way i'm sure he'll have something set up at some point.. removing that dropbox apk isn't a dealbreaker.. lol

Depends on what the Drop Box people have to say about it. Might be more serious than we know.
I'm sure most everyone has already acquired the 50gb of storage from Seans prior releases.. no going back now!
Well technically dropbox is free but to get 50gigs you will need to pay. Most of the US carriers opted out of it anyway as you only get to use it for 2 years. I could see it being a big deal but I don't think its that serious unless dropbox is going crazy over it. Its like the whole touchpad thing where you could get more space by just logging in with your touchpad.
hate waiting
I'm a new user so I can't post on Sean's threads. But I have to say that his roms are amazing! I hope he can bring up the links soon. Did I read that he was working on a new base?

I understand people have parents that wont allow them to buy apps. I understand people live in countries where its almost impossible to purchase apps.
I will point and laugh at people that dont change the sig from the default.
I would also bet people think because it says app-developers app they think it has something special.
Also you do know the xda app is a modified version of tapatalk. If you own the premium version of tapatalk there shouldnt be anything in the premium version of xda that is not available in the tapatalk. I agree each person has their own preference.
As for how people come here for help...how is that related to my question?
Just saying people come here looking for help and what not.....not to be laughed at....

Yeah, it's all because app developers are Linux guys, and you know how they are...
I never noticed the difference myself. I didn't buy the paid version because I'm wasn't then and still am not that impressed with the app, in general. I guess I never really considered it "supporting XDA" to buy the app. Hmm, I guess it is, now that I think of it. Maybe when they make it so that reading all the posts in a forum actually makes it marked "read" on the app...

OMG the marked as read and actually showing new posts without having to toggle between pm's is annoying. That is a tapatalk bug. It use to not be that way, atleast for me but tapatalk 2.0 did some weird things.
