[Q] How do I remove Zynga ads? - General Questions and Answers

Hello everybody!
After installing a game called Plunk from the Play Store I started getting some annoying ads almost every time I turn on my WiFi or 3G data connection, so I uninstalled it but it keeps bothering me.
This turned into a malware!
I've searched everywhere on how to remove this but got nothing. Zynga's website has instructions on how to remove it from Facebook and other services, but not for Android.
I've tried this but there aren't such apk's (yes, I'm rooted).
I can't believe I'm the only one complaining about this!
Anyone?
Thanks in advance
UPDATE: I've e-mailed Plunk developer about this and he answered "I can assure you that Plunk! the marble game is not the source of your continuing advertisements"... so how can I trace the app which is making them appear??

If you're rooted try installing a different rom. That should get rid of it

Okay, I'm trying to understand how to remove it without having to wipe.
I've searched in the installed apps and packages (/system/app) and couldn't find any with "zynga" in its name, so it's clearly hidden... That's malware!
Is there a way to know which app is making those ads appear??

Have you try Adblocker mod yet? that mod blocks any ad even make you unable to open *******

I'm trying to remove this malware, I don't want to pretend it isn't there!
There's no way? Really? :banghead:

Try 'pimp my rom'
You may want to try the mod 'pimp my rom' (search on xda, i can't post links yet).
With that mod you can install an adblocker but you can also tweak your current rom

Ah no, maybe try Lookout. I am using it on both my Nexus 7 and Acer Liquid E1

Did you try using an Ad blocker?

AdAway is the best ad blocker for rooted devices.

As I said before, I'm looking into delete this malware, not just block it with an ad blocker.
Noone knows how to identify which app is responsible of these ads?

No, this kind of ads (see attachment).
Note: those listed games aren't the source of the ads because I installed them way before I started having issue. They seem to be the reason why Zynga Poker is being offered to me.

It's apart of CM7 or some ROMs. It is PinyIME, it is a Google keyboard that allows English -> Chinese.
Could you also CHILL OUT? Stop going "OMFG WHAT IS THIS?!?!?!?!?!??!" It's just a app, nothing malicious. Open Titanium Backup and simply uninstall it (or use ADB/Root Explorer) whatever you want.

It's on your device because you put it there. It's part of the firmware, not part of the "device."
You installed a non-stock firmware then panicked when you found a non-stock application running. Did you even consider reading about whatever firmware you're running to see what it comes with?

I can fault you for the way you reacted to it, considering you have 3000+ posts. I expected a more mature post. You obviously installed a non-stock ROM (or applied mods because you have battery %). The old CM7 nightlies included the same exact app, PinyIME. It's pretty much just a keyboard.
And agreed with mstevens. You flashing custom ROMs, you shouldn't be surprised if random apps are included with the ROM.
Ok Ok he overreacted but it seems he honestly thought he had some malware, so I say some slack can be cut. All's well that ends well

That's Pinyin IME, the app that comes with AOSP, actually you should also get the Japanese IME. If you do not use Chinese and Japanese input method, you can just uninstall them without any problem.

I saw th permissions it required n was alarmed
I hav droid wall installed nd i didnt giv th app permission to access th internet
Then i had an app called cheater which i think is an xml editor for games (plz excuse me as im noob cant explain well) but ill link u to th app
http://www.4shared.com/android/bnU2Hbz9/orgjajazcheater_demo4.html
And was shocked
This app stole 1)all contacts 2)email id 3)possibly credit card details 4) emei nunmber 5) cell number 6) model number 7)carrier name
These things happen and is why you need to check app permissions before installing.
Most bad permissions are in apps like this mind you, as ALOT of people would be looking for apps like this they get alot of peoples details

The permissions and TOS/T&C explain exactly what the app does. If you're too lazy/stupid to read the permissions its your own fault. Yes it's a "bad" app but it's not hiding anything from you, it isn't breaking any rules, so no, Google shouldn't remove it.

Damn, that's harsh but also very true. The general public doesn't take the time to read that information and jumps on an app just because it's free and popular. Another thing to look for is weather an app is from a trusted developer. For instance Google apps have access to most of your information be most of us trust Google more than baby jesus...

Sure but the market does not auto update a app if its permissions have changed which is really the best google can do.
They COULD do what apple does and take the time to filter every app that gets submitted, but I for one (As a app developer) would be very pissed about this, apples submission process takes up to 3 weeks while google takes a hour at most to show up in the market.
And besides some apps still get through on the app store so meh personally I think google have done everything they can, its down to the end user to read before installing and not just clicking about, its there own fault if they install an app that has more permissions than it really needs.

Sketch!

This app is an app I wrote, it's exclusive to the Galaxy Note, so I feel that it belongs in this forum. It's a sketching app which uses the S-Pen sdk and allows you to sketch using an existing photo/image as something to trace (though you can start from a blank canvas too). You can then export the sketching animation directly to HD video and share it (e.g. to YouTube) - it allows for very complex sketching to be created very quickly/easily.
I won't bother pasting the whole description, it's available on the app page:
http://www.samsungapps.com/topApps/topAppsDetail.as?productId=G00009661046
Please have a go and let me know what you think, post sketching animations, give feedback etc. Thanks!

Cant find it in Samsung Apps, link you provided is showing this app under galaxy s3, maybe that is why I cant see it. Tryed both from phone and Kies same result and yes I have N7000. Please post link to apk as I would love to try, thank you!
Edit:
Is it possible that it is not available in all countries- when I log in to my samsung account it say this account is valid only in store Slovenia or something like that? Or maybe it has something to do with model of the device - when use your link and check available devices there is N7000B listed and my is N7000?
No problem for me downloading it with Samsung Apps. Thanks a lot for this fine app. I really love the ability to export drawings as a video clip. Would be great if you could add some more layers.

I set it to be available in all countries, but I have a feeling that it's not because of the in-app purchase available within the app. This is why I'm hesitant to post the .apk - some functionality might not work. Sorry!!!

I can see it on my computer, but when I log on I'm told that I can only access Samsung Apps from the USA store and the app never comes up in a search (my copy of Kies doesn't even give me the opption of the app store, only podcasts). Is there any other way to find it?

Edit: It says that ads can be disabled via in-app purchase. This is incorrect. This version doesn't have ads, as it's paid. I messed up the description (copy from samsung app store) - I've fixed it up but it'll take a few hours to update on play.

[Q] What are some unknown must have apps?

We all know Tibu, Rom Toolbox, Nandroid Manager, Tasker, etc. Long story short, my Google Play balance expires in a week, and it got me to thinking. There's nothing I really need that I don't have.. or is there? What are some of your go-to apps, whether they be apps or Xposed modules, that don't have millions of downloads and make everyone's list? I personally use Unbounce, a free Xposed module to regulate wakelocks with a donation that unlocks premium features. Be them paid or free apps, I'm curious as to what I, and likely a good chunk of the XDA community might be missing out on. What are some lesser known apps you guys use that deserve some attention?

Didn't work, option is still missing.
Quick research on the play store shows several people with S6/Edge phones complaining about hotword detection option missing.
And I just checked mine, its missing for me too.
So strange.... had it visible and working on both my new phones this morning, and now GONE - nothing but the one option to launch it from the Google Now screen, all other options done disappeared - wtf mate

Do you guys have the correct language set?
I do. My voice features disappeared as well
Have the same issue. 'Anywhere' hot word detection disappeared yesterday. I also think it must have been the update I ran. Uninstalling the Google now update had no effect though. Also tried setting the language to English US, no effect. Next thing I was going to try was factory reset, but sounds like this don't work either?
Installed Google launcher for the time being. Atleast I can use 'okay Google' from all my home screens until this is resolved.

Same thing happened with the Moto X.
There is a config flag that lists the 'blacklist' phone models. There used to be an app to force the Google app into debug/dogfood mode so that you could change it - but I haven't seen any way to do that w/ the newest versions. My guess is that Samsung chose to disable listen everywhere to try to force people into using s-voice.
